Pizza Express in Birmingham

no garlic dip, got given 3 dough balls and pizza was cold

pizza was tasty but arrived cold

Pizza had hardly any cheese on and was cold

salad was missing the chicken and the broccoli!

It never arrived. The arrival time kept showing as later & later, I tried contacting just eat & sent an email as I couldn’t call. No response!! I eventually called pizza express & I had to reorder & finally got my food almost 3 hours after placing the original order. I’m disgusted with this service. I have paid twice & received the order once, almost 3 hours after placing the original order. I expect a full refund & compensation for my wait

They seem to prioritise delivery services like Deliveroo and Just Eat over people actually sitting in the restaurant that makes the service very slow. The waitress was however very friendly and we used lots of Tesco vouchers which made the cost just expensive not extortionate.

Deluvered late and very cold. Reheating the pizzas ruined them.

None of my order was in stock and order placed was early so not like they would have ran out from the evening. Food arrived and the substitute food they had in stock was only average and cold. Poor service. Shame I couldn’t get a full refund 👎🏼

Food is really good but the service in this place doesn’t match up! The last 2 occasions I have visited the service has always been friendly but severely lacks any urgency/accuracy. Both visits were at a quiet time, maybe 4/5 tables occupied and no big groups but on both occasions there have been errors in the order and felt that the service somewhat lacked the attention required to do it well. Don’t let his put you off, the staff are very friendly and welcoming but they could just do with stepping their game up a gear, even when its quiet.

Came to pizza expresss today and was served by, Duncan. He was an absolute pleasure! So friendly, helpful and attentive, made our experience here just as good! :)

Our local PE is usually a hit with the kids as the food is consistently good. However it's noticeable now how this is basically a take away, sitting waiting for service you'll see a constant flow of deliveroo drivers come to collect the endless orders the staff struggle to fulfill. Sit in diners are an afterthought. It's not necessarily the staffs fault, they try, but someone needs to switch off the take away orders and tell management this is supposed to be a sit down restaurant.

Came for works Christmas night out. Very helpful staff , helped us navigate the app for the 50% off. Duncan was our server, lovley friendly bloke . Will be back with the other half in a few weeks thanks for the great service Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

Had a lovely pizza with my wife early evening today. The young lady with long blond hair gave great service and the atmosphere was good. Our 2 pizzas were fab, sloppy joe, I think, and my wife had the pizza with the salad in the middle. The wine was also good. Thanks Alan and sharon

Had my daughters birthday party here today for pizza making :) Honestly the staff were amazing, Ellen the party host was incredible and the other staff members that were there were amazing Nothing was too much trouble, they were welcoming, they got all the children involved, helped them created their own pizzas Dough balls to start, then pizza making, then they ate their pizza and ice cream for pudding, What more could a children want Could not recommend this place enough Honestly thank you guys so much for making my daughters birthday one to remember x

Unfortunately food was stone cold on arrival and needed reheating

Just want to say a massive thank you to the Pizza Express team for a great meal last Sunday in celebration of my mums birthday. Ellen our server was great and very understanding of my nut allergy and the current peanut contamination issue that’s going on with mustard. The chef was also aware of what’s going on at the moment and current FSA advice for people with peanut allergies avoiding mustard. Will be booking again for my birthday!! Been coming here since a child and this is by far the best atmosphere of any Pizza Express I’ve ever been to.

Given the price of this order, what was delivered was very poor. Food had been dropped I think so everything looked a mess, but the chicken was in particularly poor, and the dough balls not worth ordering. Disappointed as usually good food and service.

My two young kids and I enjoyed a nice lunch here today and were served by a welcoming and friendly waitress named Ellen. My kids love the children's menu, which provides the perfect portion size and variety (including appetizer, main, and dessert). They also love the colourable menu and chef hat. Thanks again to Ellen and the staff at Pizza Express at Sutton - we'll be back soon! :)

Courier waited in store a long time but it didn't take long for him to get here. However Pizza was cold and rubbery.

Have come here a few times; great food, great ambiance and as always greeted by the lovely Ellen. She really is so charming! Oh and that sticky toffee cake was divine.

Before u write this. I also work in hospitality so I understand closing early however me and my boyfriend work late so we were delighted to see pizza express still allow bookings so late. We booked a table online for 9:30 and it said online it closed at 10:30 ( I know it’s late but it’s all we could do and we rarely spend more than an hour eating anywhere). When we got there, the staff looked like they didn’t even know we had a booking. Spent 2 mins looking for it and then told us to sit anywhere. Let us order drinks and then told they’re closing early at 10. At this point it was already 9:35 and he walks off to get the drinks. This ruined our date night as we would not have had time to eat at all even tho he told us we could still order. No other places serve food that late around us so we ended up just going home, really sad that the staff couldn’t have looked at their bookings and called me to tell me they would be closing early and we would have came half an hour earlier so we could actually eat.

I was disappointed with the quality of the pizza, it was dry and also not very hot.

Another two birthday meals recently at our favourite Pizza Express. We had great food, both times (thank you to the chefs), wonderful service from both Simon and Ellen (as usual, I have to say!), and the whole meal was a great experience! This particular Pizza Express has consistently good food and service, nothing is too much trouble and you always get greeted very well and then you get eye contact, smiles and a wonderful attitude! Brilliant!!

My daughter had a pizza making party at the Sutton Coldfield branch for her birthday. It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and fabulous service from Ellen and Freya. They looked after the girls and parents from start to finish.

What a pleasant evening here. Approachable and friendly staff, Ian, Emma, Maurizio, Virginia, Reza, to name a few. We had freshly baked garlic breads, dough balls and pizzas, all made from high quality ingredients. Highly recommended to dine in with family and friends.

Nicest of staff, food was amazing! Worth every penny!

I have eaten in this restaurant on a number of occasions and I’m impressed by the consistency of the quality of the food and service. So many of the dishes are a delightful combination of tastes and textures, all beautifully presented. Manager Simon is charmingly personable and attentive to customers needs. He runs a well organised team of quality serving staff.

Ellen made our dining experience fantastic. She made us at ease with my daughters allergies and gave us the allergy book. I went in at lunchtime today with my partner to have a quick bite. We were served by a lovely young lady called Ellen, who has always served us with a smile and a happy demeanour, which lacks in society nowadays. Ellen is a definite rising star within the pizza express chain. Once again thank you for your hospitality.

Consistently excellent food and service at this Pizza Express. I was really well looked after by Tamzin. She was ever attentive to customers’ needs without being at all intrusive. She was also delightfully interpersonal for one so young.

As regular visitors we always look forward to being looked after by waitress Ellen who is very friendly and welcoming. Service by Ellen is always attentive and efficient. We were particularly impressed that she remembered our drink and dietry preferences from previous visits. She always welcomes us with a wave hello and a warm smile. Food always enjoyable and worth trying the pizzas with the different oils they offer. Garlic and chilli oils very tasty! 😋 Good vegan selection of starters and mains. Always very clean and tidy with nice table layouts and a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Went for a family meal yesterday. Our waitress was very helpful. That and the setting are the only things which are any good. As for the food. It was terrible. The pizza bases are tougher than the boxes they are put in for takeaway. My son had a pasta dish which he has been unwell all last night and today from. My wife couldn't even force herself to eat either of the prawns or chicken she ordered. Don't like to make an issue when eating out but after contemplation this meal I can't leave such awful food lie.

The pizza was greasy and cold. Not enjoyable at all. It was the smallest pizza I've ever had. 0 for value for money and for food quality. I would avoid this place if you want a takeaway pizza.

We felt the need to complain last night about our pizza’s which hardly had any topping. The ‘burnt end’ especially was shocking with 2 tiny pieces of beef. We complained to our waiter who responded with “I hear you”. The Calzone was terrible & looked more like a pancake. The bill came to £75 with no offer of resolve. We won’t be returning which is a shame as it was a great restaurant not so long ago. Awful atmosphere, no music & the gents toilet out of use.

I can't believe how this restaurant had deteriorated. A few years ago there was a vibrant atmosphere, unlike my last visit. Poor food. I won't return.

Unfortunately, all of the pizzas were lukewarm. The Padana pizza had hardly any toppings on. There was more dough and crust! The dough balls didn't come with Garlic butter. Really disappointed with the food quality.

I ordered the gluten free and vegan pizza for the 2nd time. 1st time, there was bare minimum cheese, I received a refund. I thought I'd try again and wrote a note to ask that they put an acceptable amount of cheese on, and there was nothing on there again. Massively disappointed

We had my daughter's birthday party here today. We all had a wonderful time making and then eating our pizzas. We were so well looked after and Ellen who was our party host was wonderful. She looked after everyone so well and made the party so easy and stress free for me! Would highly recommend for parties.

We visited on Tuesday afternoon , food and service was great . The lady manager working was very helpful explaining the app to us and got us 50 percent off our pizza . We will visit again

Pizza is very good, however I ordered garlic butter x3 and one tiny amount was placed in each PLASTIC pot. What a waste of plastic, not economical, environmentally friendly or necessary and management need to find an alternative to avoid this happening again. Staff should have used common sense and placed x3 garlic butters in one plastic pot, rather than waste three pots with hardly anything in them.

Fabulous Pizza, salad gorgeous just not enough of it

Sent wrong completely the wrong pizzas. Called them but as soon as you order through just eat, they can’t do anything about it. Very annoying.

We came for a casual Sunday lunch. The service was disorganised as there appeared to be a shortage of staff. The most worrying thing is that one server admitted that staff had no training in allergies. And couldn’t even locate a dessert on their menu. Eventually another server came and pointed out the choice I’d made (the lemon roulade) unfortunately it wasn’t gluten free!
