Pizza Express in Kirklees

yet another restaurant who favours Deliveroo and Just eat table booked for 16:45 hot seated 17:11 now 18:44 and had dough balls 4 kids under 8 waiting 1 hour 30 mins plus for small pizzas Been told by management I'm sorry but that's how the kitchen operates Stay Clear

Waiters and waitresses are amazing and always smiling and doing what they can. Restaurant over books all the time and then the kitchen can't deal with it. Over 2hour wait for our main meal. This is the third time this has happened when we've come here. Uber eats going out of the door while we have to sit and wait.

Pizza was not cut very well AT ALL. Was difficult to get it apart. Lovely pizza though.

The order was lovely but unfortunately had to warm it up as it came cold. Other than that the food was nice.

It took 2 hours from order to delivery. The restaurant was 5 miles away. The original delivery time was 1 hour. The pizza was not hot when it arrived. We are not impressed at all by the speed of the service.

decent, but what a rip off !!lasagne was literally 10mm thick !! more of a pancake!! garlic bread was a fat boys bite.... and gone !! cost £30 but worth £15

Dimmed lights around pizzeria. Turn on the slow motion camera and point to dimmed light. They flickering. I'm sensitive to flickering light. It's bad for your health. Its causing headaches and migraines. Pizzas are delicious though

A special thanks to the lovely Hungarian man (I camt remember if he was called Rob or David or maybe even Dan) either way his customer service really stood out especially when he helped me choose what to decide what to order. He also troubled shooted with the Pizza Express app - which was being nightmare and kept crashing when it requested my postcode. Exceptional customer service thank you for helping me with the app and also allowing me to take left over food home by putting it in boxes great service

Had such a caring and well informed coeliac experience whilst being served by Rob today. As someone who needs a gluten free meal it makes all the difference when eating out. He went above and beyond to make me feel safe when I ordered my meal, and was so well informed about cross contamination risk - even down to the garlic butter! Thoroughly enjoyed the dough balls, didn’t realise I could have them but Rob told me I could! Quick service, huge portion and a lovely take away box for spare I couldn’t finish. Thank you to the team here for having a fab attitude to allergens.

Birstall Pizza Express were outstanding, we were served by Daniel, a very pleasant, friendly and attentive young man. He took very good care of us and nothing was too much trouble, well done Daniel.

We had an amazing time and this was made by Emma who was happy and smiling and knew when to be there and ensured we had enough time between courses. What a great advocate for pizza express, really good at her job. Really helpful, polite nothing was too much trouble and very informative about the dishes being served. We would definitely come again the food was really enjoyable and it’s a nice chill out.

my desert is not what I ordered

Today I have returned and I’m being felt rushed the waiter kept coming to our table saying if we want to order and then she came and said the kitchen is back logged by 30 mins if we want to to order now ? This is the 7th time waiter came to us to force us to order our food, if this continues I will not be returning!!!! I also seen her speaking to a colleague and that same colleague straight away looked at us hence how we knew we are being talked about, I do not want to come to a restaurant being taken fun off if this continues I won’t be returning!!!

I came here yesterday for lunch. I’ve always been a fan of pizza express’s and often visit the one in York. I came to this one whilst visiting friends over the holidays, and unfortunately had an experience that has put me off from returning to the Birstall branch. There was a bald member of staff, I think he may have even been a manager, and I overheard him talking negatively about members of staff to other staff members, which made me feel super uncomfortable. The food was standard but I felt this persons actions were highly unprofessional. I don’t come to pizza express’s to hear toxicity. I therefore will not be back.

Worse pizza express ever food service was dreadful asked twice were our starters was, after 1hr wait staff very ungrateful it was like we were not welcome. Mains came out 1hr 15min after waiting then our starters came out afterwards. Pizzas were so dry and tasteless the polenta chips only got 6 in a tiny tin and so dry . staff never asked us if we wanted dips .they were quite rude in customer service. Not just to us but a few near us were not happy. It also seems that the kitchen staff care more about online orders then those in restaurant because they were coming in and going quicker then our service. First and last want a waste of 100 quid plus no sorry i dont want to discuss it they were customers coming in after us and getting served before us getting served in 30min people coming for collection and on line orders getting served first .you need to look after the ones that come in to the restaurant first .

Although food is good, service should be better for the prices they charge. Staff are slow and ignored our table for long. The drinks we ordered with the dessert never been served and the waiter lied saying that he made them and forgot to bring them to us, while we were sitting behind the bar and know that he didn't make any drinks since we ordered!!!

Tonight Rob served us and he has been the best yet - very professional and polite!

Waiting over 2 hours food never come but on site is collected never ever I will be using this site I lost money because I couldn’t even cancel my order not even worth one star UBER is much better never let me down

Courier took 20mins longer than it should have taken to deliver from when they picked up from. Their location was unavailable in the map until they neared my steet, they said they got lost. Food arrived cold.

Completely wrong order delivered

Visited on a Saturday approx 1pm. Was originally given a load of Colouring pens for my toddler which were all green (these were replaced). Took 45 mins to get our mains, with nearly 15 mins wait between receiving the 2x adult meals and the 2x children's meals (which were delivered Stone cold first time). All restaurants know you deliver the kids meals first... my own pizza ended up Stone cold, because what type of father eats his meal while his family is still waiting, so all in all disappointed. Our waiter was clearly having problems with the kitchen, and trying to get our food out in a manner befitting of normal Pizza Express standards. Pizza still tasted good despite being cold, and the macaroni cheese side was one of the best I've tasted. Kids meals were comped by way of apology.

I ordered a pasta bundle (pasta and dough balls) and only received the pasta 😔

Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Pizza was delicious and definitely worth its price. I appreciated atmosphere the most, it's not too loud so we could talk to eachother and even our baby boy managed to have a nice long sleep in his pram while there.

The food here is consistently good. We were served by John on Monday tea time and he gave us excellent service. He is an absolute credit to the team. He provided us with the best service I've had anywhere in a long time. Nothing was a problem. Thankyou so much and keep up the hard work. It really is appreciated.

Good service from nice staff but choice of food poor. No meatfeast pizza...no carbonara....ended up with mac and cheese with ham added but the ham.was cold. This place used to be busy but only 25% full on a Sunday afternoon now. Will think twice before going again.

Very expensive for what it is. I would say pizzas are ok but nothing special. Dough balls very disappointing. Quite long waits as they do online delivery as well. We shared a starter, two Romana pizzas and shared a dessert. All of that came to a total of 70£. We had a discount that thankfully brought it down to 53£. 70 quid for a starter and two pizzas is ridiculous in a big chain...

Do NOT buy the arancini. They are tiny and claggy. Pizza as always is cold.

I arrived at the restaurant earlier than my friends where I was greeted by Alix (Manager). I kept changing my mind on where to sit. Eventually decided to sit in a booth area (see picture)..Alix was so patient with me. Thank you Alix. Our waitress Emma was a lovely lady who looked after us. She always had a smile. Food was beautiful, well presented and freshly made. You should see the oven, right in the middle of the restaurant (see picture). The restaurant had a lovely vibe to it and chilled music too.

Weird vibes. I got a Caesar salad but there was literally a teaspoon of dressing in the pot. I asked for more and he bought back this overflowing pot which was unnecessary. Salad was limp and no parmesan. If I'm honest - it felt like they served a cut back portion for a plus size customer. He came back later to ask how the food was but asked my partner how his pasta was specifically... But blanked me. No toilet roll even though they opened 10 mins before we arrived. The lady I spoke to on the way out was so lovely though...

Whent for pizza, I don't often dine in pizza express! but for specialise restaurant in pizza I get why they're closing down!! the pizza uncooked the dough old chips under cooked with black bits stick to it the frieyer not been clean for sure and it's not the cheapest but must admit it's the wores pizza I ever had till now.. Not impressed at all..

Not the worst pizza I've had, nowhere near the best I've had, they don't do a four cheese pizza, or a meat pizza, oh but if you want to add extra toppings at £2.50 per addition, to an already overpriced pizza you can.. I will not willingly go to any Pizza Express ever again, staff were very nice. Pizza ok, cost = very overpriced.

The order took over an hour to arrive, the delivery time changed multiple times (to the point I thought it’d never arrive), and the food was Luke warm! The crispy potatoes are the least crispy potatoes I’ve ever seen!

I like Pizza Express. The pizza are good and usually service is good but on this occasion we were waiting a long time to be served and our pizzas took a long time to arrive. We had to ask a few times. Hope my next visit goes better.

Came for a quick lunch and have not left disappointed the pizza was excellent and generously portioned. Daniel our server was great making sure we were catered for from our arrival to when we left.

We don't go out for a meal much anymore, If it weren't for the Tesco vouchers I'm not sure we would use Pizza express. Dough balls, 4 pizzas, 1 side and 4 drinks, 1 dessert £96. It was £3.55 for a can of sprite, that really took my breath away. The hole in the leggera pizza seems to be getting bigger and the salad in the middle more pathetic. Couldn't use the free option on the app with the vouchers. Lovely very helpful waitress though. Arrivederci Pizza Express!

If you are going with a mindset of quick meal, then thats about to change. They can take longer than expected. Its a good place for families as kids can have fun coloring and watching how pizza is baked.

£3.55 for a can of coke, really that’s just a can of coke plonked on the table with a glass, everyone knows drinks are a rip off at restaurants but you kind of buy into the whole “well we’re out for a meal experience” so you just go with it, but to be just given a can and glass kind of spoils the allusion, food was only ok too, sloppy giueseppe pizza seriously lacking meat, I guess onions and peppers cost less than beef, hard to get good service and food at a reasonable price these days

Had a lovely lunch meal with my little girl (which is a rarity) and was looked after by the lovely Daniel (Dan) he was attentive and went above and beyond for us and even spoke to my little girl. Thank you Daniel!

Whenever you order food from this restaurant make sure you order 30 mins before you need to eat it, have your oven preheated, and be ready to warm it back up because it is ALWAYS COLD.

Waited 20 minutes at the door to be seated. Asked if we could sit down and got told someone will come to show us to the table. No one did, even after being passed by at least 5 staff. So we left!
