Pizza Express in Shropshire

The food was cold and arrived an hour and a half after order. 30 mins after original delivery time.

Food was great however i ordered 2 desserts, cheesecake & Tiramisu which never arrived but i was charged for, vary unhappy about that!!!!

We love coming here, once a month when we visit shrewsbury. We have got to know a few of the staff and they are all very good. Food is amazing service is good. Erin the manager is brilliant cant do enough for us as we had a little mini crisis with our daughter in law giving birth on the phone..we had to use there phone charger while this was all going on..it was emotional and pizza express looked after us well. Erin even cooked a fresh pizza to take away as my partners went cold. Wow. Thank you guys 😊

Service was poor. Several servers ignored me trying to get attention to order. It was busy so I can understand that but once I did get service, the individual just said excuse me and walked off with no explanation before taking my order. They did return eventually, and took several attempts to get my order across as it was really loud and I struggled to hear them too. Then they returned double checking my order again so assuming they did not take my order. 20 mins then goes by before they return and I was asked if I had the app. I dont and explained I did not want to download it but was made to. Pizza express should not expect everyone to have the app. Ask at time of ordering, or pay with a real person at time of ordering instead of wasting peoples time and allowing people to assume you pay after your meal. Or allow people to order at the table with a QR code like most other places. The person serving me was trying to be nice so I am assuming it is a company wide issue to push people into giving away personal information.

Took my family here before we went to Theatre Severn. I will never return - mean servings of meat on enormous flavourless flatbreads that give the illusion of abundance. Lots of things off the menu, small soft drinks at a fiver each. This is ridiculously expensive fast food in an uncomfortable and soulless barn. If you are after a night you will want to forget - Pizza Hut Mardol is the one for you. The staff working are hard in a corporate canteen - I was a bit confused by the waitress who greeted us and asked me if I had large ears. Then I realised she was asking me if we had allergies.

It tasted like sawdust and looked undercooked. No one asked us if our meals were OK and we could not find anyone to complain to. As so much time of our time had been wasted, eventually we quickly paid and left. I was very disappointed in both the food and service and will not go back to Pizza Express.

Paid nearly the same price for a tiramisu that was never delivered as the pizza. The pizza was tasty though.

Great offer (kids eat free) in half term, though the pasta portions are very small and wasn’t quite enough for my 7 year old! Great that the dough balls come with cucumber etc on the kids plates- they liked that and it was fresh and tasty. Good Lickalix ice-lolly dessert option as these are made from natural ingredients. Thought £15 for the Buddha bowl was a bit steep as it’s not that amazing (it’s fine- but £10-12 would be more appropriate given it is just salad/veg & doesn’t even have any expensive ingredients). Service was fine but a bit slow. 30 min wait for food was a bit odd given how quiet it was. There was also one waitress who also “helped” near the kitchen bit by the pizza oven with finishing some dishes off- eg scattering something (cheese? Breadcrumbs?) and I watched her do this with no gloves on or hand washing before/after so that was a bit off putting.

Food was great, but for the insanely high price and cost of drinks, they could have at least cut my pizza into slices. The price does not match the food quality, or atmosphere, they are doing nothing special to earn what they are charging

Brilliant food and service but I don't know what it's like when it's busy. We had some discount vouchers and thr lady there advised us of what was the best deal. Well done.

Nice place, staff were welcoming. Food okay, although you have to cut it yourself, as someone with arthritis this was difficult to do with a blunt pizza cutter.

The food here was really quite good and the chefs and staff are working really hard. BUT, the service is just too slow and disjointed. Our drinks weren’t served, starters arrived before them. Room was cold and really draughty. The pizza and pasta dishes really were quite good, so it’s a real shame the speed of service let down the visit so much. After finishing our mains, our plates remained on the table for a good 15-20mins while the poor staff tried their best to deal with the relentless orders of just eat delivery drivers turning up and taking away their attention. We requested pudding which again took far, far too long. It’s just a real shame as the staff are doing all they can, the food is good, but the service is being ruined by the continuous delivery requirements on the business.

Love this pizza express food is always awesome and staff are lovely. I just find it frustrating that they let people's kids run around screaming when you are trying to eat. I have kids, we don't let them run past people's tables. It's a little annoying when you are paying the same too but they don't have to consider anyone else. The staff should prevent this. Also it's a little cold in the building I always eat with my coat on!

Called in for our annual post Theatre Severn Panto meal, nobody else in when we got there, (though they had clearly had customers in), so we asked could they accommodate us. Yes, no problems. Shown to a table, ordered taken and drinks served, all good. The table not laid, which is fine, though cutlery brought. Normally when cutlery has been used for starters additional items are brought out after the starters are cleared. So, the mains brought out, we had to ask for extra cutlery (so some members of the party had food going cold while they waited). Black Pepper (I still don't understand why it can't be on the table) and Parmesan Cheese offered, which I said yes please to. Also, a younger member of our party requested a drink, so the cutlery, drink and pepper all brought as one. The Parmesan Cheese never appeared. The food good, have dropped a star as two of the dishes served in cold bowls, so while food hot it went cold before finished even ignoring the cutlery wait. Why I have given the service one star, is once our mains brought out, not once did the gentleman who served us bother to check if everything ok or if we needed anything more; drinks spring to mind. By this stage as he relaying nearby tables he would have hardly been going out of his way to ask. He did come over once we finished, cleared our plates then promptly returned with the bill, which we had not asked for. Didn't ask if we wanted Dessert or Coffees, which we did, or again anymore drinks. As mentioned, we asked before entering if they could accommodate us, and as we made our way to the exit there was another party that had come in after us, still on their mains, so it not as if by rushing us out the door they could lock up and go home. A pity really as we have always enjoyed the two parts of our evening sadly the second half was let down by this gentleman.

We arrived just after 1pm, the restaurant was not busy, we tild the waitress we have a Tastecard before ordering, and ordered a "family bundle", she did not tell us this wasn't covered by the discount our tastcard offers but when the bill came they told us that, so we spent 25% more than expected, and wouldn't have ordered what we did if we'd have known that. Our food didn't come out until 2pm, our 3 and 6 year old were very hungry by this point. It turns out our dough balls had been given to the table next to us, they had waited over 10 minutes to be able to query it and send them back. I watched the waitress take the plate back to the service counter, talk to a chef, then proceed to bring the exact same plate back down to our table. The restaurant was not very busy, so I don't understand how they could take so long with our food and make errors too. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but the mistakes left us very unhappy. We've eaten at lots of pizza expresses, this is the worst experience we have had with them.

We had a delivery we have been here twice now first time we had it was amazing but second time was a let down the dough balls we’re burnt the pizza wasn’t cut properly we had to do that for are selfs and the dips like pesto was liquid honestly I think they were lazy as yeah we ordered late 9:30pm they close at 10pm but come on guys you had half an hour to do things proper not rush honestly not happy so I’m expecting a refund

People at pizza express were excellent, unfortunately, by the time the food arrived it was cold, the eventual delivery was well over an hour late and I had to walk half a mile to find it.

Very poor experince. I am gluten free and was asked upon entry so was given normal menu and allergens folder. Sat down to study menu and no indications for GF so tried to see in folder but was upside down and all mixed up! Too confusing and not wasy to navigate folder so decided to leave before ordering. Was disappointed no inidcation on the menu what could be adapted to GF. Have they changed menu as previous visits it was clearly marked !!

Always loved Pizza Express but this is the first online order and it was awful. Margueita Pizza, the cheese was like leather. The base was a strange texture and it lacked any flavour at all. My husband said it was ok but left half of it which spoke otherwise. Doughballs were good and desserts ok but overpriced. As was the whole meal.

Food was delicious. We arrived 7.15pm for dinner with our children, we expected a quick pizza! We didn’t leave until 9.45pm! The restaurant wasn’t full, but service was just so slow, I had to call a server over, to order drinks, be given menus and to order food, ask to clear our table. There was plenty of staff, they looked busy but they just didn’t seem very efficient. Not helped by deliveroo /uber drivers coming in, in their droves, surrounding our table.

The Pizza was labelled as 'spicy' rather than 'hot'. It was inedibly hot, food labelled as spicy is normally far milder, especially pizza. 'Spicy' Chillis tend to be mild chillis and chorizo is also spicy but mild. I got pizza vindaloo.

Arrived already booked a table, asked for my name, which is simple to spell. Said we didn’t have a table, in a rude manner, so spelt out my name which is quite easy to spell being Tilly. Turns out we did have a table, she showed us to our table. It had been about 20 mins when she came to take our order, and asked us have i taken your oder. We said no not yet, she replied I thought I did… i we ordered our main, which she said you guys aren’t having a started we said not she was really rude and seemed offended we didn’t want started. Said our mains which I ordered a large, American pizza. My friend ordered hers and then she went to talk away and we asked if we could order our drinks. She turned and sighed at us… about 15 mins later are drinks came in a warm glass. Then about 30 mins later are pizzas arrived. Mine being a normal size pizza. I couldn’t be bothered to question it as it seemed like her first language wasn’t English, and as she was previously really rude to us. After we Finnish she was quick to get our plates we asked for a dessert as I was still hungry. My friend ordered a cheese cake, 20 mins later she came up and said we can’t have the cheesecake without a warm drink, she said she didn’t want one. She continued to read out the hot drinks they have and she said I don’t want one as I won’t drink it. She said well then you can’t have the cheese cake. Choose something else, without giving her a menu. She asked what was on the menu can she see one she moaned at us again. Then my freind chose what she wanted. We waited another 20 mins for it to arrive then when we finished waited another 20 mins for the bill where we made eye contact with us lots and was ignoring us. We had to go up and pay.

My lasagna was burnt, and food took ages to arrive.

Me and my partner decided to go to Pizza express today as we hadn't been to the one in shrewsbury before. Upon arrival we were impressed by the inside however when we were seated at our table we noticed a few tables being left unclean even though the place wasn't busy. When we sat down we noticed the knives and forks had marks on them and hadn't been washed properly. We then ordered our food, 2 pizzas, 2 sides and 2 Cokes. They brought us the cokes and again the glasses were dirty and disgusting, I even found a hair on my glass which clearly wasn't mine. We were the first people sat down in our seating area and we ordered. Then 4 people (2 girls and a couple of old people separate not together) sat down and ordered. We waited for our food for a while and noticed they were being served their food first. I looked over to the guy making the pizzas as the food area was visible and I watched as he placed our pizzas on the side and left them there as they served all the other customers first. The food was to be served by waitresses not picked up just to clarify that so we were sat just watching our food sit there. Finally after the blonde waitress served all the other customers, she brought our food over to us. When touching the pizza it was barely warm and one of them had the wrong crust. We were very hungry at this point so we started eating. I ordered a American hot, and the lady asked me how spicy I wanted it and I said mild. When I tasted the jalapeños which didn't even look like jalapeños, there was no spice at all. Even the pizza it self wasn't spicy at all which was so weird to me. The pizza it self was the worst pizza I've tasted and my partner even agreed. I barely touched my food because it made me feel sick. My partner usually eats all his food but he left some because we were just disgusted by the place it self. To make matters worse there was a man letting his toddlers run around the resteraunt whilst people were eating, screaming and shouting. The staff did absolutely nothing about it. We ordered dessert because we were still starving and we shared it. We ordered brownie and ice cream because it's very hard to mess that up and we did enjoy that thankfully. As soon as we finished we got up, paid and left. We couldn't be bothered to cause a scene so we paid what we owed and left. We will never be going to Pizza express again and they need to up their standards. Absolutely disgusting. And their staff need to read the room a bit more.

Shocking service for me, my partner and baby. Not an English presence to even talk to as we had no cutlery or napkins to begin or end our food with. Even asked which was totally ignored as well as asking for a blender for baby food.

Very disappointed. This p.ace has gone down! Pleasant staff but poor customer service. Order took 30 minutes to arrive and restaurant was not busy. This for two pizzas and rocket salad. Whe it came my pizza was wrong, no jalepenos and not an American Hot. Infact very bland. Said they would do another one but after 30 minutes could not wait. Gave a reduction for no Jalepeno £1. 60 very poor customer service will ot be back.

The delivery driver was very friendly and did a great job.

The staff are friendly however this was negated by the really slow food service, and it wasn't at all busy. We only ordered two pizzas and two soft drinks and it took around 30 minutes to arrive. In addition, some of the salad leaves provided were brown and dodgy. We won't be back.

Had a great meal with my family and the service was great had a lovely server Nellie she was perfect and went above and beyond and got my little sister another hat because she had broken hers .

Lovely food and service but the restaurant is very noisy.

Food was delicious. We had the garlic prawn pizza and the American double cheese - both so so good. Free doughballs if you get the app (which the staff encouraged us to do). Service was incredibly quick and always very lovely and helpful. Desserts were gorgeous too.

We had a great experience this evening. Our server Dani was exceptionally good- a real credit to the restaurant, and very accommodating with my friend's allergies. We would certainly return!

We had a party here on a Saturday morning. There were 11 children aged 3-6 years some with dietary requirements. Everyone was catered and included throughout, nothing was too much trouble. Special shout out to Georgia for running the whole party, keeping the grown ups happy and generally being an awesome person, thank you 🩷

We went on Saturday evening for a pizza- there were 8 adults and 1 child ( aged almost 2 years old). The man that served us was nice. We ordered 6 pizzas+ 2 starters+ kids pasta+1 portion of ice cream. We get our pizzas after 1 hour and 40 minutes and 2 of them weren't in our order. On those 2 that were wrong we waited about 20 minutes. I ordered half in half with my husband - he took his pizza half spacy and I took mine mild as I can't eat spicy. All of it was spicy so I ended up hungry and sad that I can't eat it. We don't get our starters (2 portions of dough balls). While we were waiting I realised that making those dough balls doesn't take too much time as they were making a few portions (but for delivery orders). It builds up my disappointment when we did not get our ones. Unfortunately tiddler didn't get one portion of ice cream as well. And her pasta was, well, if it's meat pasta then I must be blind because there were some lack of meat that we could find when we looked so closely. Come on! I know it's a kid portion but seriously? We were reminding employers that were passing us about 3 times about dough balls and ice creams but probably they decided that delivery customers are priority. In the mean time we have been told that there is only one chef and he is in training. Well I was warming up to the coffee shop and as far as I remember you should never live a new employer on the trading all alone. It would be more fair if they would tell us at the beginning that they have short stuff and that we may need to wait VERY long for our food. If we'd known we would go somewhere else but instead we wasted an evening. I wish to give them some tips but we couldn't!

Treated myself to a self-date night at Pizza Express. The vegan pizza was absolutely divine (and the chilli and basil dip was bangin'), and my espresso martini was perfect. The best thing though were the staff; I think it was Dani who served me (that's the name on my receipt), she was SO lovely. Super friendly, attentive and smiley, a real credit to the establishment.

Went here and took my younger cousin who is only 7! We had the best time with the best service. Olga and another waitress (sorry I didn’t catch your name) was amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. The pizzas were wonderful! Will defiantly be back, thank you for looking after us:)

What stood out for us was the lovely waitress, she was wearing chefs striped tee shirt but was running around doing everything. . I wish I'd taken her name..tall olive skin afro hair very pretty.. looked after us well..

The whole experience was excellent, from walking in to when we left. I was particularly impressed that the team serving let me know that my pizza was a little overdone so I could start on what had been brought to me, but that a fresh one was on the way also. I was then able to take the overdone one with me. They needn't have said anything and I'd have just been a bit disappointed that my pizza was overly crispy, but they went above and beyond. We will without doubt be visiting again soon.

Pizza Express is consistently fantastic. We’ve been visiting for over 25 years (in different locations) and for the last 14 years at the Shrewsbury branch. As always.. we had a great time , loved the food and received outstanding service (as we always do) but unfortunately witnessed an unreasonable lady on an adjacent table treat the staff in a rude and condescending manner. The staff dealt with the situation really professionally in a way that’s says a lot about the management and the company ethos. It just made us want to come back. Erin and her team were just fab. Thank you so much .

I worked 3 years in best pizza in Venice and finally I can test the same taste of real Italian pizza namely in Pizza Express in Shrewsbury. I'm so happy to found this lovely place, very very clean and friendly staff. I want to say big thanks for all staff 🙏

At Pizza Express Shrewsbury there is the best and most delicious food and pizza that’s always served hot. The restaurant is amazing and the atmosphere is fantastic for a night out with friends and family. Not to mention how clean it is. All of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would like to mention the waitress Florentina, who served us with gratitude and offered us impeccable service.

Service and Food were very good - restaurant had lovely decor and was very clean. Was a little bit quiet on our Sunday evening visit but that was fine by us and we thoroughly enjoyed.

Popped in pre-theatre, great food, served quickly so we didn’t need to worry about getting to theatre on time. Our server Erin was lovely, friendly and professional, what a credit to your company she is. Will definitely be back.

Visited relatively early on a Sunday evening when restaurants were just opening yet atmosphere was still good

We went as a pre booked group of 21, everyone bar the one being surprised pre ordered. It felt like a children's birthday party, not a gathering of adults. I had to sit back from the table as there was physically not enough room for everyone to sit comfortably at the table. If anyone on the back seats wanted to visit the bathroom, half a dozen people had to get out to facilitate it. I have never been so tightly squeezed together in all my life in an eaterie. If the place was busy, it would have mitigated the situation somewhat, but it was not, I wonder if this is down to the attitude of certain members of the staff there. A 45 minute wait for the food to come out when all pizza's were pre ordered was bad enough, but the protracted manner of the service meant some people had finished there food before others had been served. To top it off, coming round at the end to ask if anyone wanted chilli oil, etc, on their food, when many now were looking down at their empty plates, said it all. Don't bother visiting as a group, or indeed if you are limited for time, or if you don't want want to be served by someone who makes you feel you are an aggravation to their existence. The pizza was OK, nothing special.

Had children’s birthday party. Ordered a load of margaritas plus sides and couple of other meals. All very meh. Pizza in particular was very sparse. Large areas with no cheese. Disappointing.

Every time we come to this restaurant, we are amazed how good it is, it’s always really clean, staff are super friendly and food is always top notch, highly recommended and a great Vegan Menu.

original time was altered to make later and pizza is practically cold. having yo reheat in oven. thought I'd try pizza express instead of dominoes for a change but obviously not a great idea. disappointing.

We weites 3 hours for the food delivery that we had ordered. after 3 hours set status showed "delivered", but nothing has been delivered so far. what a pathetic service. please refund the money asap. BTW that already the second time that this happened !!!

I have no idea how this restaurant only has 3.5/5 on TripAdvisor; we visit this restaurant frequently, and have never checked the reviews - we love it because the staff are very friendly and attentive, and the food is super with great vegan options. More specifically, our daughter is vegan, and this restaurant offers an entirely different menu with many options suitable for her. Additionally, the appetiser and starters menu is extensive, and we enjoy making an Italian tapas style meal from the options. They always have colouring and activity packs too. Would highly recommend.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time with friends and our children, the restaurant was pretty quiet with lots of free tables. Asked if we could order children’s meals with drinks order so they came out quicker we were told “no, it would confuse the kitchen and they might miss your other order” we thought this was a very strange response and one that none of us had ever heard anywhere before. Ordered food and our starters for children and adults arrived promptly, however it then took over 50 minutes for the mains to come after asking 3 different members of staff within the last 10mins how long would our food be as the children are getting very hungry (the reason we wanted to order children’s food first but wouldn’t let us) each staff member told us “I’ll go and find out for you” yet not one of them returned back to the table to apologise for our wait or give us any time frame. As we were leaving and paying it came with a big huff that we were paying separately (despite the fact we’d already worked out the exact amounts each of us owed) not one of our table got a good bye or thank you even when the children said thank you to them. Extremely poor customer service with rude unfriendly staff which is a shame as the food was actually tasty and hot. No wonder the restaurant is so quiet on a busy Saturday lunch time, none of us will be returning. Have previously had great experiences in Telford!

We had a lovely time with my husband and children, the atmosphere was perfect for visiting with young children. The food was delicious and the staff was very welcoming and always looking after us, even the manager had time to give us some recommendations that we really appreciated.
