Pizza Express in Welwyn Hatfield

Requested sausages as an extra in the mac and cheese. There is no sausage at all.

i ended up having to go to restaurant as delivery time kept getting pushed back eventually to over an hour later than origionally mentioned. so it wasnt delivered it was picked up by a pressured dad.

App stated courier at the restaurant for nearly 30 mins, three sides and one main dish all cold. Thought this would be a nice treat rather than the cheaper establishments, very disappointing

Terrible service! Took forever to even order and had to wait for over 45 minuets for our food! The restaurant isn’t even quiet and has plenty of staff so no excuses for poor service! I suggest staff should be re trained!

No wonder the pizza express branches are closing down, we had to wait over an hour and 30 minutes to be served and for food to arrive on a quiet night for a Saturday evening with no apologies as to why it was taking so long. Will not be coming again

Well….. Cut up the Pizza next time. Meat balls I ordered. Did not see any there at all. Stone Cold when Delivered. Sorry but I Won’t Again. Wake up Italians…..

The food wasn’t great, very disappointing and I wouldn’t order it again.

Order arrived without garlic butter for the dough balls. We ordered 3 portions and no garlic butter at all. Food was lukewarm when arrived. Poor quality for the price.

The 'feeds 3-4' people bit is definitely an underestimate. 3-4 young children, maybe.

Similar experience to other reviews. Ignored for long periods, had to wait a lot and approach staff to order etc. staff looked really busy and I don’t think there were enough on duty. This place wasn’t clean- food stains and particles on menus, cutlery and glasses. On the plus side staff were pleasant considering how harassed they looked. The food was good.

Food was good. Not sure beetroot in the salad was roasted ??? Pizza was a lovely but could be a bit warmer but just being picky

First time we have used this service. I appreciate it is a Saturday night and the restaurant is busy. But to have a cold pizza delivered 1 hour late is totally unacceptable. If the restaurant had stated it would be 2 hours delivery we would never have order. This is the first and last time we use just eat. This was a gift voucher so fortunately not our own cash but a true dreadful experience.

Prawn pizza had a total of 7 prawns. Lasagna absolutely abysmal - £15 for pasta and some sauce. Hardly any meat whatsoever. I am disgusted.

ordered some beer and they gave us a gluten free one and a zero alcohol beer. also failed to properly slice pizza

36 people for a birthday party and incredible service. They could not do enough for us. Everything served piping hot and not one order wrong. Incredible.

Very enjoyable food with pleasant staff

Friendly staff but very slow service. There seems to be no sense of urgency. We waited over 10 minutes for them to clear a table and then another 20 for them to take our order. We had a 5 year old and a 3 year old with us and fortunately they were very well behaved. Once ordered the drinks and food came up quickly and I paid using the app to save another wait. Also, the toilet facilities need refurbishing as they are not pleasant.

Better than other Pizza Expresses

ordered additional toppings and hot pizza and received no toppings on one and no spice on the other.

Placed an order via delivery app, it was accepted by the restaurant around 9:20 PM. After 30 minutes wait, it was simply cancelled by the restaurant. No, note, no email, no call. Probably, because they were late with other orders and they were about to close. Don't feel like ordering from this place anytime soon.

We usually use pizza express as it is steady and easy with children. Started off great this evening but after an in flux of delivery people being in and out our adult meals were forgotten, as were we, left with no drinks and a brief explanation that our adult meals would be delayed. The most frustrating part was that we were very accommodating but left without drinks such as table water despite asking several times. Once we were all fed the manager made it very hard work to accept any feedback. Basically the service was was appalling and when questioned was defensive and unhelpful.

My son had a pizza making party for his 10th birthday at the Welwyn Garden City branch yesterday and it was AMAZING! From the minute we arrived, the manager was so warm, welcoming and friendly and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Then we had the wonderful Praveena supervising and instructing the children in making their pizzas. She was fantastic at keeping ten lively 10 year olds engaged and thoroughly enjoying making their pizzas, she gave the perfect level of guidance whilst letting the children be totally creative with their creations. There was a lovely and large selection of beautifully fresh toppings that were in abundance. The pizzas looked and tasted delicious. The party flowed really well and the children were kept entirely entertained. They all had a brilliant time and I can't recommend a pizza party enough. Thank you to ALL the staff for making it so special xx

Pizza is an absolute disaster, 0% Italian. Among other incompetent and shameful decisions, they add (very cold) mozzarella only after pizza has been baked.

Delivery order - genuinely the worst pizza experience in years, including much cheaper chains and my own amateur attempts at home. Burned and cold at the same time, sloppy texture, ingredients past their best before date, order messed up pretty badly to the point the gluten intolerant person went hungry, and a mealy-mouthed 'have a voucher' response for a pizzeria I have no inclination to return to. I know commuter belt can't expect all that much, but I should have taken a ready meal out of the freezer instead.

Ordered Uber eats. Didn’t get my pizza delivered. Dough balls where rock hard no garlic butter either was not edible. My kid and my self had no food, only one dish arrived as described so my vegan sister had it. When called the restaurant all they could say we cant contact uber eats we don’t have their number. What answer is that i paid you for food that you failed to deliver and there is no solution. When contacted Uber eats they thanked me for the feedback. But hold on what about my pizza? I have paid for something I have not received and all you do is thank me for my feedback. You should really sort it out. Never ever will be returning to pizza express or to iber eats.

Had lunch here yesterday (sunday). It was a very nice experience and our server (Megan) was very lovely, helpful and overall contributed to our enjoyment of the meal. Food was very good.

Overall this order was poor today. Food arrived 25mins later than planned/ scheduled. Once updated to ‘driver is ready to collect’ it stayed like that until the food arrived. After arriving the food was cold and the portion was enough for me. Although, feel disappointed as the container was not filled and would be best described as a child’s portion.

This restaurant is fabulous, I made a mistake with my order and phoned them directly. They were so kind and fixed the issue for me with no fuss at all. I didn't take the name unfortunately of the person I spoke to on the phone but I really appreciate their kindness. Good quality food and great service.

We had a table booked a few days in advance. We arrived on time and were totally ignored for 6 minutes. Many staff members walked past us but no one spoke or made eye contact. Eventually we were welcomed and then had to wait for a table to be prepared for us. We were quickly offered drinks and given menus Our drinks arrived in good time. However the glasses weren't clean and my glass of water had a piece of salad floating in it. We ordered and our starters were delivered quickly.. Well 2 out of 3. We struggled to get a member of staffs attention to tell them about the missing starter. However they quickly sorted it once we spoke to staff. Our pizzas arrived quickly and were delicious.... no complaints there. It took a long time for the table to be cleared and we had to ask for the dessert menu. It wasn't offered and we felt that we were inconveniencing them by asking for pudding. Pudding and the bill arrived quickly Overall the food was lovely. But service and customer attention/service needs improving.

We had driven a very dreary 7.5-hour journey from Glasgow. Before going to our motel we decided to get in somewhere for dinner, so my wife called Pizza Express at 7.15pm. We were told we could book for 7.30pm, so we went directly there. As we entered, no-one greeted us and there were already two young ladies in front of us. After about five minutes, none of the staff had even looked at us and we felt totally ignored. The young ladies in front of us said they had arrived early and had been being blanked for 10-15 minutes. Eventually my wife had had enough and walked up the restaurant to approach a member of staff. He then came to where we were all waiting and told us that there would be a one-hour wait. We all protested that we had 7.30pm bookings, but he insisted that there would be at least a one-hour wait for food. We feel very strongly that this should have been made clear before they took our booking and we dragged ourselves off our route. The reservation was, after all, only made fifteen minutes previously. We left, as did the other people, and - quite frankly - we won’t be back to any branch.

Friendly with buzzing Saturday evening atmosphere. Family feel - all ages and dimmed lights for more intimate meal for two. Mat was very helpful on gluten free options and open kitchen made you feel GF is real - not just marketing. A good takeaway option too.

Came here for Halloween lunch and was greeted by lovely manager dressed in Halloween outfit. Restaurant was decorated well as well. I was served by goran who was really welcoming and helped to chose my pizza.

Food arrived on time but was cold

I would like to start off by saying a thank you to all the staff, they got busy tonight and through dealing with not so pleasant customers they had smiles on their faces and managed to attend to everyone waiting. The gentleman who took our order missed off my lasagne bur after letting the staff know they soon brought it out and took the dish off our bill as there was a wait for the food. Again this was not a big issue as this was dealt with professionally by all staff. I would come back to this branch, it is my local pizza express and i throughly enjoyed the food and the service by all the ladies working.

Food was good as always however poor customer service by Jenny / Emily (I think she is faking her name) hence the 1. She needs to be fired as she has appalling customer service (apparently she is the shift manager as Indra is on leave) I walked in and had to stand at the entrance for 10 min and nobody attended to me (there was no queue either). I walked into the kitchen area and asked a waitress if I can be seated and she asked me to go back and stand at the entrance. I waited another 5 min and nobody turned up. There were around 7 tables free and found a table for 2 (I was by myself) and sat my self. I asked for a menu from this lady Emily or Jenny who yelled saying she asked me to stand at the entrance to a customer. She has to be fired or u are loosing many loyal customers! Food missing and all cold!!! Asked for extra garlic butter instead of the red and green sauce and they didn’t give any garlic butter at all. No point eating doughballs duhhhh

spent 2 hours there and 1 hour and 15 minutes of that was spent on service time after we sat down it took 20 minutes to receive menus and after that another 20 minutes for them to take our order. waiting staff were rude and didn’t smile once but the food was still nice

A shame as this place is usually great. We booked table for 18:15 on a Saturday night at about 5.40pm same day. I would rather they declined to take the booking given how busy they were and couldn’t cope with the number of covers. We waited about 45min for dough balls (!) and a further 15min for pizzas. We have 2 young kids so would have expected their meals to come first. But actually theirs were brought last. I can accept all of that as the team were obviously busy and working hard. But what I cannot accept is the lack of “sorry” or acknowledgment that it took so long. Not a word was uttered. So, sorry, but no tip this time.

The order was 19 minutes past my aimed delivery time and what I got was not what was ordered. My pizza had only one of 4 ingredients on the list as shown, i only count 1 ingredient as I had half a cherry tomato. Not the first time but the last time I will order.

replacement food ordered tp compensate last weeks mess up on my order and to add insult to injury part of it is missing! trying to call the resturant to sort it out and i end up with another cold pizza. jthese drivers must eat pretty well. not ordering from here ever again

How can someone succeed in burning 2 out 2 pizzas

Pizza arrived late, was stone cold and burnt on the bottom. Delivery person did not read instructions about delivery.

Shocking service very slow waiter took away the extra dip for the starter and the starter had been had yet. Waited 40 minutes for a starter and 20 minutes just order. Plenty other choices basically next door I'd go there.

Service and atmosphere are excellent. The food was great quality, fresh ingredients. The only thing that made me drop a star was the lack of herbs in the sauce which made it bland to my taste. I will however be back as it was overall a very pleasant experience.

Tasty little restaurant in the heart of welwyn garden city town, food was great however the service could’ve used some improvements. Had the tiramisu for dessert and it was absolutely delicious with a beautiful presentation.

Went on a Friday. They were probably expecting a lot more people and had more staff booked for the evening. Instead of providing great service, they ended up chatting with each other! I had to call the listed phone number on google maps to get attention of the manager and the waiting staff. It was a bit hilarious to be honest. But other than the wait to order food, rest of the experience was great, so I will stick to 4-stars. It still makes a good story that I shared with many friends

To be honest.. did expect far better than what we got, the duo Romana I ordered was nothing less than abysmal the bbq burnt ends were more like runs in my infants nappies. However the American hot regular was ok nothing special to be honest .. the wings and dough balls were literally stone cold and wet with the steam of being left at the restaurant I’d expect. Bitterly disappointed with all the food overall especially the wings. The only thing I enjoyed was my glass bottle of Diet Coke to rinse my mouth of the taste of all this food will never be using this pizza express again if that is the standards. Especially of near the mark of £50 .. MUST DO BETTER
