Thank you staff at Pizza Express, you are good, very good

I visited yesterday lunch for the first time and it was absolutely fantastic lunch. Our food was so good and service was very friendly. Definitely we will be back!

I simply can't believe I haven't reviewed this sooner - with this being our nearest Pizza Express, this is our main place to go to after days out from the station! The food and service here is fantastic (especially the food 😋)

The was the most appalling dinning experience I have ever received. I WAS a big fan of dinning here, as the kids enjoy it however based on my experience this evening I do not plan on EVER dinning at pizza express again. It was my brothers birthday, and he was severely disappointed with the food and service. The service was slow and unfriendly. And my entire order (two courses worth) was wrong, this discouraged me from ordering a dessert. My grandmothers food also arrived separately to the rest of our meals, meaning all of our food was cold whilst waiting. I am SO. disappointed with this experience, NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!!

Food ok. Service slow as they so busy. VERY very noisy. So difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Music too loud

The pizza that i ordered was a pepperoni pizza and when it arrived it had a ton of onions in it

Ordered two Pizzas and driver arrived with only one. I refused to accept the order as I could clearly see the receipt taped to the box and it clearly showed two pizzas. When I refused the accept the incorrect order the driver got abusive and assaulted me with the pizza. Pizza Express refused to provide drivers name for police investigation and refused to give full refund. Theft and assault from our local restaurant. Nice eh.

The food was what you'd expect from Pizza Express. We enjoyed it. The service was good in that we didn't have to wait long for our food and it was nice. However, we weren't really impressed by the service from those serving us. They were somewhat offhand, not particularly friendly, when taking our order and serving our food. Our cutlery and meals were not given/ placed with or removed with care or a professional attitude, which also applies to getting our bill and taking the payment. I didn't leave a tip because it wasn't warranted. It wasn't busy. For the most part, only two other tables were in use on a Sunday afternoon. Therefore, the staff attitude more noticeably contributed to the atmosphere.

We had our 8 year old daughters birthday party here and it was lovely, we had about 10 kids and they absolutely loved it! The service was excellent and since it was a pizza making party, the found it so much fun making their own individual pizzas with their selected toppings, they also had yummy sour dough balls topped up with ice cream! Great atmosphere for the kids. Thank you!

The man who served us was particularly pleasant and helpful. Good service...although I think the prices are becoming exorbitant...especially dessert! Thank goodness I have the app. So I got a few reductions....please put desserts on as a reward.

My very elderly Mum wanted pizza. So decided to come here...its been a while since we visited. Great service.(really sorry I didn't get the young lady's name). I would recommend La Reine Classic. Made my Mum happy👍really good. Thank you.

Sooo expensive - haven’t visited for ages used to come with the family - £17 for a “fancy” pizza WTAF !!!! I have to say our food was delicious and the service was great - it wasn’t busy - but the meat was scarce on our pizza - lots of nice veg and bits but hardly any of the star of the show!!! Also bring back dough balls with the salads. The croutons barely fit the mark or at least make them fresh. Enjoyed but at those prices not again.

Lovely restaurant, always does the best pizzas around and staff are friendly.

Nice pizzas with a good selection of toppings. On the corner of some main roads but there is not much noise. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can pay by app as well as the usual ways. App gives some loyalty benefits so with having if you visit any Pizza Express restaurants. Staff are always helpful.

Table for 3 Friday night, food and service was excellent.

We had a pizza making party for our son's birthday and wow what a ball we had. Mohamed and his team looked after us very well. The execution of showing the children kitchen cleanliness, how to make a pizza and then the children having their 3 course lunches was just perfect. Parents had travelled from quite far so stayed for the duration but it was a great coffee break for parents to relax whilst the children enjoyed the party. Highly recommend and thank you to Mohamed for making it so special.

We had been meaning to try here for some time. We had booked via the website - it was quiet when we arrived though did get busy later on so we were pleased we did so. We enjoyed our padana pizzas as well as our garlic bread starter and caffe reale dessert. I also had a caffe latte which was very nice. As others have mentioned, there were several delivery drivers coming in getting orders though I can't say it impacted our service or anything. All in all, a very pleasant way to see out the year.

The whole pizza express team made sure to accommodate to our needs. The manager Mohamed, waitresses Aga and waiter Tilly were exceptional.

I came here with family to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was really nice service,stuff members was very welcoming. We really enjoyed the food, and at the end they suprised my mom with a candle on dessert and song. Deffinetly will come again. Cheers!

Came here with my partner, was given amazing service from my waiter and especially the manager Muhammad (not sure if spelt correctly) the food was and atmosphere were amazing and the staff their made my experience very good.

Servers are very friendly and quick to welcome you at the door whenever they get the chance. Can provide useful insights into the menu and Efficiently provide help with any queries that arise. The manager can also be seen actively helping when needed, showing good leadership and helping the team out whether on the floor or in the kitchen. Food is always good quality and there’s a wide range of options including for those with dietary restrictions. The atmosphere in the restaurant also has a good vibe and feels lively when it gets a bit busier but they still make sure to attend to your table.

We enjoyed the atmosphere with some tasty pizzas, we always been a PizzaExpress fun! Nice and friendly staff

The manager had no customer service skills and food was under cooked. As a result I have food poisoning.

Was served by a rude, untrained bumbling, sulky, unprofessional oik by the name of Molly at Upminster restaurant, who, with a face like her boyfriend just dumped her for her best mate, banged drinks down on the table, treated us like we were a massive inconvenience, stepped on my foot and laughed about it....I would have preferred to have served myself....a total let-down to the chef who prepared us some tasty Italian food....

3 tables occupied. Extremely long wait for order to be delivered. My leggaro pizza was overdone. Expensive and disappointing.

Only went in for a too good to go collection and was made to wait 15 minutes. Food was pretty naff. 2 lots of dry, plain dough balls A small cheese garlic bread, a small soggy crostini with tomato, onion and pesto slopped in the corner and 2 dry pieces of cake for £10 The staff didn't talk to me or ask me about allergens and seemed to just want to get me out so they could lock up and go home. Not an experience I'd rush back to repeat. I don't consider what I got to be a meal, just very low quality food.

Was there with a couple friends from work, around 19:00 so it was starting to get slightly busy, regardless service was excellent so was the food definitely coming back 👍

Terrible service. Staff only interested in take away and deliveroo orders. Not interested at all in serving eat in customers. Thoroughly disappointed.

They make the best pizza I have ever had. I never write reviews but this place deserves it. The pizza is so good and the staff are friendly as well. They even teach you how to fold a pizza!

Took ages for the food to arrive. Had a salad, and it was not great - how can you get a salad wrong?! Calamari was OK but just tasteless. Service was slow, but I think there was only one man working?!

Absolutely awful ,orderd food for kids ,they kept changing the delivery time by an hour ,they did this 3 times ,so I called them and said the kids have to go to bed ,why do you keep changing the time ,then when food finally arrived ,pizza was cold and chicken was cold and no garlic bread ,so called them again and the man said he was sorry and would put a complaint in to manager ,we waited 1 hour and a half for food ,which was cold and we live just round the corner ,the kids were still hungry ,will never order from this place again ,and didn’t even receive a refund !!!

Food was lovely and the service was great. My daughter left her ring on the table when we left and when I phoned, Jess had kindly put it to the side so I could collect it. Thank you so much - we have a happy 5 year old now!

Great pizzas but you know why this place is so empty? Chilly. Not very warm. Secondly, I'd not been back since before Covid and I was shocked at how much prices had gone up!!!!! Florentina pizza used to be £9.99 now £16.99. we ended up paying £46 for a meal for two, one shared starter, one classic pizza, one Romana pizza, one prosecco (a soft drink was £3.95!!!!!!), that was all!!!! Not everyone can afford that! We can't! So we won't be back soon. Will look to see what clubcard offers there are though and if I got enough to get money off. Last time meal for two was £30 ish. Now 80% increase. Crazy. Staff wages didn't go up 80% I bet. I know energy prices gone up hugely but this much???? Sorry for the rant but I felt sorry for my friend who decided to treat me; wasn't able to help as not earning much. I did see lots of takeaway bags, so that'll keep it going. The pizzas were delicious though. Best of anywhere. Maybe I'm out of date but 3 years struggling on low income has been hard. For myself, I couldn't afford meals from here.

Went with family and friends. Service was very poor/slow. We were thinking of placing an order with deliveroo as the staff were more interested in them than people in the restaurant. Food was good when we got it. Waited about an hour for starters.

Visiting my friend at Upminster and had dinner at the local pizza express. All staff very friend and a big massive well done to a young man called Noah ( I think). You did an amazing job on ur own cooking I really thought my order wouldn’t be as it was asked for but it was. I can’t believe you managed so well with the dine inns and takeaway orders. I’ve never been to a pizza express with only one chef. You should be paid for the work of two. Well done you 😊

We visit fairly regularly. The pizza is always hot and tasty and the range of beers and desserts pretty good. Can get a bit loud and clattery. The decor is looking a wee bit tired at time of writing too. On the plus side the staff are usually friendly and efficient. The PizzaExpress club app can help you make savings; well worth downloading.

The interior needs updating, however the food and service was very good.

Fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon which perhaps added to the atmosphere inside. The calamari starters were charred on the underside but strategically placed to hide the fact. The chicken milanese was the same giving them an unpalatable taste. I brought to their attention and the waitress kindly replaced them, but failed to take the burnt dishes away. I'd have expected someone to check-in to ensure the food was satisfactory second time round, but wasn't asked. The Romano pizza was pleasant enough though.. I like Pizza Express, but I might try a different location next time.

This was last min decision to visit pizza express, staff very accommodating and service was really good, process our order very quick. we did enjoy our meal! Will definitely come back :-)

The staff were rude, egocentric, inefficient and in general terms - quite simply awful. I will not return. I can say with some level of certainty that the staff will not be concerned about this. As they appear to have no level of commitment nor passion for the restaurant. PizzaExpress Upminster, big thumbs down.

Went here for a night out with work End of November Had a great meal.Staff were very nice, shame wasnt about to bring as many as book from work due to illness etc.Will def book again

I’ve been a few times now and it’s been an absolute train smash of a restaurant. The manger has no knowing of what to do. He just stands there like a big umpa lumpa watching it all unfold. And when he can see everything going wrong he blames everyone but himself absolute joke of a manger and a man. Food isn’t great but one good thing out of this restaurant was the service from a brunette girl and a girl from an ethnic background they were both lovely. Would not recommend to anyone.

I liked the place the first time i visited .. Came a second time.. Kept getting offers via email etc.. But ever since i tried visiting again - each time I enter, i see 4 or 5 empty tables, but staff tell me its an hour wait for food. Either 1. They need more staff or 2. They don't want me. Either ways feel unwelcome and won't be coming here again.

Upon arrival 3 x 12 year old waitresses were talking in a group like young school girls do, two with their backs to us. The one facing made eye contact but decided their conversation was more important than greeting customers. Thankfully a young man came out from the back and greeted and seated us. After people who came in after us got their pizza (burnt) I asked where ours was. I got a sorry , but no explanation. When the pizza arrived I asked again what was the delay caused by, and again got a don’t know. So asked to speak to a manager. He arrived and asked what was wrong?.??. The staff only told him I wanted to speak with him , so he had no idea of my complaint and what the problem was. I explained and he said sorry and would reduce the price. I explained I wanted service not cheap meals and proceeded to tell him I saw 4 meals get thrown in the bin because they were obviously wrong and an adult needs to manage the 12 year olds. He had no idea, so He stayed out the front and another adult also arrived, but after 5 mins went back office again. Perhaps their pc game was on hold or the World Cup match was calling on tv?. Ok that’s assumption but that’s how I felt..before brexit the Eastern European staff were great, but now 12 year old English girls and 14 year old chefs is not working without ANY form of management. The pizza was fine eventfully but the place needs active management and staff training ..I would give our young , new male waiter a 10, everyone else 1..

Not been to Pizza Express for a while and I probably won't be back again anytime soon. Food was OK, nothing special. Service was fine. But the price was ridiculous! £70 for 2 pizzas, 2 starters and a couple of drinks. Way way way over priced. I could have got a similar meal with similar quality from the local Coop for about half the price or less.

I haven’t been to Pizza Express for sometime and my nephew wanted to visit for his 13th birthday. Oh dear! Talk about deterioration! My starter was Garlic King Prawns- well that was disappointing, the ‘King’ element of the prawns was clearly lost in translation as the stewed prawns and tomatoes really failed miserably. The description read much better than the product (Garlic King Prawns £7.75 Juicy king prawns, garlic butter, tomatoes, roasted peppers and chilli flakes with fresh tomatoes, red onion and parsley, served with Dough Balls). The ‘King’ prawns came from a kingdom of mini prawns! The pizzas appeared to have become smaller and slightly thicker and the flavour was very disappointing (I had Sloppy Giuseppe £13.45 and extra garlic). My family had their own choices and none of us came away feeling we had had something good. I live in the south of France and although I swear by the fact that cuisine is far superior in the UK that France nowadays, I’m not sure I can attribute that to Pizza in the UK. I think we will have to find a little independent pizza restaurant next time and hopefully we will come away feeling that we enjoyed our food. Perhaps I should also mention that my meal has had the effect of sending me to the toilet five times since last night!!

Pizza Express, Upminster, is always lovely but my coffee was cold and my dough balls, hard. Never had a bad experience and the staff where quick to fix it, even though they were rushed off their feet, with a large birthday party booking. The little desserts with coffee is always just enough, to satisfy a sweet tooth. Also loving the VIP awards. Really helps with little savings, on the bill.

Awful service. They lost our oder, took order again waited a good hour. The deliveroo guys tools priority. Took ages to get the bill too. Won't be returning.

Pizza Not Express. Food very nice. Service extremely slow, very slow. Cold atmosphere not inviting in any way shape or form. Dirty floors. Duty manager that didnt give you eye contact

Dylan was a great waiter and provided excellent service. And the kitchen provided top tier food.

Waited 90 minutes for the main course after paying £7. 50 for pollo Milanese starter (3 chicken dippers). Our lasagne contained no meat at all, and the pizza under cooked. The takeaway service was given preferential treatment over the restaurant and we were not the only people complaining. It will be a long time before we go back there, the cost of the meal no longer is value for money. I will add that our waiter tried to get our meal on the table but after all that time the meal was left with the lasagna sent back.

Having read the reviews below I nearly cancelled my reservation. However I didn't and I'm so glad. The kitchen was clean, the food was delicious, both pizzas, the starters and our deserts were lovely. The staff friendly and helpful. I really suggest that you try this place for yourself!

Quick and easy, lots of choice, plenty of space to seat 4 without needing to book. Okay value. Helpful friendly staff. Great coffee. Pizzas v popular esp. with the kids. Only issue was the sloppy Lasagne - served with a spoon!?! Do me a favour.

We usually love Pizza Express and came to the Upminster branch a few years ago & really enjoyed it. Very disappointed to say that our food was burnt and cold, I ordered the new prawn garlic romana pizza, the prawns were ice cold and there was no hint of garlic at all. There was barely any cheese. My partners meal was nothing like the description and cold also. It appears that the kitchen is run by young untrained staff and there is no organisation or quality at all. The service was incredibly slow and even the table next to us complained of the food quality. Such a shame as this will be my last trip to Pizza Express.

Early on Thursday evening (7/4/2024). My wife went into the Upminster restauant whilst I parked the car. After being initially ignored by staff sha had to approach one of them herself. She explained, to a totally dis-interested staff member, that we hadn't booked but asked if there were any tables available. Very few tables were occupied and most tables were not layed out. However, there seemed to be rubbish strewn all over most of them. In the 5 minutes that she was there no tables were cleared. She had to ask the chef as the other staff seemed to deliberately avoid any contact with her. She was curtly told that " we're going to be busy later" not that there were no tables available. This was followed in an equally curt way by "we don't accept cards it's cash only here" ??? Why ? She hadn't even asked that question. Ultimately the lack of professionalism and their staff's rude demeanor worked our well for us. We were able to walk to a lovely Italian restaurant just a few yards away. It was busy, and we obviously hadn't booked a table but they made us feel welcome and found room for us. We also had a lovely meal served in a professional way by pleasant people.
