Pizza Express in Derby

The food was amazing. Our server was absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. The children's meal deal is great value for money. We had a lovely meal and would definitely recommend.

I used to come here all the time, however since January the pizza quality has gone drastically downhill. I always order margarita pizza, in the past with no problems, however the last few occasions the pizza had a little bit of tomato sauce and next to nothing cheese. I asked the manager why this is and she informed me that they have been told to measure out quantities by the head office. If you are going to put less ingredients, then you need to put down your prices on these already expensive pizzas. Also the size of their fudge chocolate cake is small too. Felt like I was being ripped off. Unfortunately this is an end of an era for me. Adios.

I had a dreadful experience today at Pizza Express. It was my husband's birthday, and unfortunately, we encountered several issues. His pizza had a problem in the kitchen, resulting in a delay of 10 minutes compared to mine. However, when the pizza finally arrived, it was raw. Despite our complaint, the second pizza was also undercooked. While they were apologetic and we didn't have to pay for "the meal", my husband missed out on his birthday lunch. What's worse is that this isn't the first time we've faced such problems here. Last time, we waited for 2 hours only to find out they forgot our order. If possible, I'd recommend avoiding this place.

Shopping mall setting. Usual Pizza Express menu. Good service but I don't find the menu or the product to be the best and prices are a little steep.

Food was nice and it was quiet for a Monday. Service was a little slow but good.

Spread of starters was good. They accept Tesco vouchers, which is good. Pizza is average , nothing special about it. Service needs to be a bit more prompt, the used plates were piled up and it was not cleared till the end.

Not always consistent with the food at this branch and they often get my order wrong using normal cheese instead of vegan. Even dough balls are getting smaller every time i visit

Normally the food is great but unfortunately we went yesterday and the aircon was on it made the food go cold very quickly I had to really eat is fast which wasn't nice. I did mention it to the staff by the time I could get hold of someone it was too late.

Food was great but I wasn’t allowed an alcoholic drink because my sister didn’t have her ID, but I had mine.

Ordered a delivery for a pepperoni pizza, dough balls and a bottle of Fanta, the delivery then turned up with a completely different pizza, chicken wings, pasta and apple juice, completely wrong, and then to top it off, the food was stone cold, waste of time and money

I visited pizza express today for the first time in a while and had the best customer service experience i have ever had. Firstly, the waitress on my section was called Laura and she was amazing! She was so kind and we had really nice conversations with her. She was incredible with looking after us and made our experience here very memorable. Laura should deserve recognition for this! Secondly, the food was so good, for starters i had the garlic bread with mozerella which was mouth watering and will definately be getting this next time. For my main i have the BBQ pizza and it was delicious, it was too big to eat but will definitely be getting again! Overall, i had the best experience here today! (Please give Laura recognition as she is an incredible waitress and i loved speaking to her!!)

Pizza express is amazing! Maybe one of the best Pizzas i have ever eaten (feels like you are in Italy!). The taste was phenomenal and a decent portion. A little bit on the pricey side but i say its worth every penny! Excellent customer service : ) Will be going back here.

Came in for food at 9 o’clock on a saturday evening. Asked for a table for two, the lady who was serving us said that we shut at ten so it’s going to be an in and out job, so we didn’t bother even though there was another hour. So rude, awful customer service

We celebrated my sons 13th birthday. The staff were incredibly accommodating with our guests. They ensured we were looked after all evening and made a real effort to celebrate his birthday. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for making our evening.

Went here last night with a party of 5, got there for bang on 7 when we booked for, the lady on the front desk seemed pretty snotty then we got seated, poor menu with limited items included no fries for a child! Food eventually came out I asked for some ketchup for my son to be told they don’t do ketchup! Also the waiter staff was stood at their desk picking their nose DISCUSTING!. Wont be returning very poor attitude

Disappointing drinks and hot honey dough balls. Staff didn't seem that bothered. Lighting really dusty.

Ordered on line got 5 pieces of chicken on a pizza that bad I had to have porridge so my husband got the pizza with chicken Waiting to here from pizza express as I left 2 messages So far they not had decently to call me back do not order from them

The pizza was absolutely disgusting it was so thin that you could see through it and it had absolutely no filling to talk about and it was so expensive for what we got , That we had to have chrisp and sandwiches when we had finished them because we were still very hungry we had to warm it up as it was cold

Cam the man, what a fantastic waiter, he made our experience one of kind. I’ll definitely come back. Would highly recommend. I’d even go as far to say he should be promoted to top tier management. Top work Cam! Ole.

I have never been to Pizza Express before but I can honestly say I would return. The food was amazing and our server Laurelle was brilliant she always made sure we were ok and couldn’t do enough for us.

Delicious food, our waitress in particular - Laurelle, was extremely friendly and very attentive. Plus it’s all at an affordable price. Can totally recommend it and will definitely come back again.

Went on a week day, 3 staff members and not a lot of people but man was it poor service. Hard to get anyone’s attention, no one once came to the table to ask us if the food was ok. Felt today invisible. Dropped a tissue and knife and fork on the floor accidentally when we got there, gave it to the waitress, but she didn’t replace it!! We were short on tissues but so difficult to get anyone’s attention. Only decent person working there was the hipster type guy but there was only so much he could do in the restaurant as I felt he was taking the slack from the other 2 useless staff members. Place was dirty too, the sign for example had visible dirt, not a good sign for how well they keep the rest of the place. Shame really as we were in the London branch a couple of weeks ago and the difference was night and day. Food wasn’t great either, firstly they didn’t slice the pizza, secondly the taste was mediocre, we actually had the exact same thing at the London branch and it was so much better there, just tasted fresher, I suppose decent service helps

Took two autistic teens in for lunch today, staff couldn't have been more welcoming, understanding and helpful. Service was brilliant, food was lovely.

A great place to go if you are Coeliac. Gluten free food is available and the staff are great at ensuring it isn't contaminated. The children are well looked after and nothing is too much trouble, especially if you want to make toppings your own.

Food was great. It did seem busy but not overly or to a point where you should wait for 5 minutes to sit, 15 to order, then 20 to pay and have to ask 3 times to pay. Not ideal if you have a child and needing to leave promptly. We visited during the day, mid afternoon on a Saturday. This may have been due to being under staffed. The bathrooms were also very unhygienic and clearly not checked for a long time. I'm not disconnected from the PE brand. I will try other locations and I'm not detured. This hopefully was an individual event because it is usually a nice place to eat and key location with the shopping mall

Went there especially for the salads (20 minute drive) and upon ordering was told they don’t have any greens at all so we had to order pizza which were fine but not what we wanted. Disappointing for Mother’s Day. Upon leaving the restaurant an hour later we noticed salads coming out of the kitchen and on several peoples plates that were still eating. Did they miraculously find a bag of salad leave in the fridge? Confused and annoyed!

Went in today around 2.15 with five of us. Waited to be seated beside the gate. Manager a guy ( looks like as he was coming and taking customers into the restaurant. Wearing formal shirt) took the people infront of us to the table without asking wheather they were pre booked or not. Then when it was our turn he said sorry unfortunately you need to book in advance . There was empty tables infront. Clearly of four ,twelve ,and he informed us that he can't take table of five and didn't even tried to adjust. I am myself FnB head of a hotel chain and I know customer service is far better then denying customer of service. Terrible experience.

Great quality pizza, dough balls, bruschetta, salads etc. Great place to dine in. Tip: try the melanzane if you fancy something different ☺️

We keep returning here because the pizzas are really tasty. The staff are always helpful when we take the kids and can’t do enough to make sure they’re having a good time. Maybe the sides are a little expensive but you pay for quality I suppose so it’s well worth trying some of them.

**Additional update to this review- Pizza Express have been great in dealing with this complaint and have been very accommodating and courteous. Because of this we will give it another try. Wonderful customer service from Dylan.** Well, where to start. Very, very disappointing experience here. We were served quickly and the food arrived quickly, but that's where the positives end. The vegan pizza I ordered for myself was wafer thin with so much passata on it and next to no vegan cheese with no seasoning whatsoever. The gluten free pizza (pictured) was a sloppy mess, again thin as cardboard. Two other pizzas were also sub par with no seasoning. One of the chefs was watching the football on his phone whilst making pizzas, so clearly wasn't focused on the job. The prices were extremely high for the poor quality we received. This visit was also for a birthday and so put the end of the day on a bit of a downer for us all. We certainly won't be returning.

Staff were great, we were able to amend our orders which was great. We used Tesco Vouchers which was great especially on Valentine's Day, we are glad we had vouchers as we think the menu is pricey and don't think without the vouchers we would have gone. There was a few items out of stock so my partner couldn't have what he originally wanted. I tried the Tikka Paneer Pizza for the first time, it was very different to what I normally have and it tasted like a curry in a naan bread it was great but did leave an after taste. My partner had the garlic and prawn pizza and he enjoyed that. We had sides and a dessert which was great and we left feeling full.

My wife and I were very impressed with our visit here. Each time we have had a mr here it has been without fault. The food is always delicious and the staff are knowledgeable and polite. when I went to pay by card they charged me double and I'm trying to talk to the restaurant and I can't, they stole £53 from me and I can't do anything because I live far away, I would have to go there and they won't give me the gas pay them.

Great quality food and fast service

My family and I had truly exceptional service last Friday. Probably the best I can remember for a very long time, anywhere. Craig, who greeted us struck up a genuine rapport with us, including our children. He made them laugh, communicated brilliantly with us delivered brilliant service in a really genuine and natural manner. Thanks for taking care of us, Craig.

Foods were outstanding 👌 and the staff there are so brilliant and helpful. I would recommend it for anyone as u won't be disappointed. Will go there again soon

I always love the food at Pizza Express, especially Pollo Pesto. This meal packs so much flavour and has such a creamy sauce as well. I highly recommend it if you fancy a treat. The pizza is great as well, the dough isn’t too thick (which is what I prefer). Like the Pollo Pesto dish, the pizzas are full of flavour. If you love a bit of Italian food, try out your local Pizza Express. We had a kids party at the Pizza Express as we wanted good food options after our bowling game. With 9 kids it was not an easy trip, but staff has made it super easy. Communication upfront was great. The food was delicious and they went out of the way to accommodate the kids. I was able to get a takeaway pizza for myself, so that I am not too hungry myself when I get home and they even gave us little boxes for a cake for kids to take cake home with them. Could not ask for better quality service. Thank you for making my daughters birthday so much more special.

Came here with my wife and two young lively kids after a cinema trip. The little ones really loved their food and the staff were great with them too. Super friendly! Thought the kids meal deal was really good value as well and they enjoyed the little activity book with pencils! Will definitely return here and would recommend it to other families too. Our food was also delicious!

Just received delivery of our pizzas which are not cooked and not fit to eat -disgusting Grey on base of pizza , dirty , didnt even bother to put the additional toppings paid for or deliver the side orders - ripped off and thrown in the bin , not fit for a dog . Will never have pizza express again or attend the restaurant Not worth even 1star
