Our server was lovely, very polite and friendly with our children. She then became busy and another server asked us if we wanted the bill which we did. When she brought it I asked if the children’s menu had been taken off to reflect the deal at the time. She asked if I had asked it to be taken off when we arrived and I said I didn’t. When she returned with a new bill her attitude changed. She became rude, blurted out the amount owed and when checking the chip and pin machine she gave a very sarcastic “thanks”. She was rude and left my husband and I annoyed. Shame as our server for the rest of the meal was so nice.

Understaffed, food not the best we have had, people being given burnt food and being over charged.

As a party of 13 we had 6 children under 7 in our group. We were attracted to visit because of the child menu offers and were bitterly disappointed to be rushed by the waitress into making our ordering choices, this included asking part of the group what they wanted for dessert before they finished their main course!!!! Comments about specific children in the group being too noisy ( which is debatable) by the waitress was both unprofessional and insulting. The food was slow for some of the group and not hot when it arrived. Very disappointing with a £250 spend and having to pay almost £30 for a blunt and disappointing service.

Very busy when we went here and we had to wait for service as a result. But the Pizza was great, the staff friendly and we had a lovely evening.

Always a good meal here. One of the better Pizza expresses we have been to. Staff are always good with our 1 and 4 year olds and always accomodate us the best they can. We come here as a treat, and will be beack again soon

We always love coming to eat at the Haywards Heath restaurant, the staff are super attentive and always make us feel welcome.

Don't bother going here if you are old and grey! The server here was very good at avoiding my eye, and after 20 minutes I left. People who arrived after me were being served first. Terrible service!

Phoned this evening to ask that my delivery is over seen to make sure dip for calamari was full and not empty like previous order and for my food not to be burnt as it has been before … woman answered and promised she would check it before it was sent out- our order arrived same standard as before - burnt calamari and cannelloni and the dip had a teaspoon of sauce So i call back and same woman answers and rudely tells me “our food is cooked well done” and starts an argument instead of apologising.. theres a big difference in well done and charcoal My partner is a chef and confirmed for us its burnt I told her i was let down i asked her to over see it and it arrived inedible once again, she said not my problem ask for a refund on deliveroo, leaving me without a meal and very disappointed I asked for her name so i could make a complaint she said “im not telling you that” so i asked to speak to the manager and she said “thats not going to happen” and put the phone down on me This is the quality of staff at pizza express haywards heath - they dont check food when its sent out and dont have any customer service skills -what a shambles Reheated packaged food and terrible idiotic rude staff - i now believe this was the manager who put the phone down on me and she really should think about a new career as she is useless at this one and has let pizza express down along with the rest of her staff shes meant to be guiding in the right direction Giving 1 star is more than this place deserves Looking at reviews here i can see im not the first or the last to have same complaints! And the manager has responded with “we take this seriously please email us and speak To the manager about it - hahahaha Something i tried to do tonight and was refused - so a reply to this would be laughable!!!!

Delivery was horribly long and pizzas arrived overcooked

We went out for a family meal. The kid's menu was a good selection of kid favourites, which made selection easy but could have had more soft drink options. The main menu was extensive, with loads of great-sounding food to try too. Our server was a lovely lady who helped out with all our requests, quickly and efficiently and always with a beaming smile. We had a great time and will 100% be back in again. Thank you for making such a nice experience

It was quite busy to start with but the staff were very welcoming and attentive without being overlly so. The food was great, however I noticed a few favorites weren't on the menu and they had run out of desert we like.

Pizza was made way too early for the estimated delivery time. Could tell it had been sitting waiting for too long as was labelled for collection about 20mins before collecting. I know cost of living is high but £16:50 for a 10” pizza? That’s taking the mick. No where on the description does it state the size of the pizza. Absolute waste of money for a small cold pizza.

Check your collection order before you leave the restaurant. I ordered one pizza online which I collected. I got home and pizza not what I ordered. Come on guys, you weren’t even busy - only 2 tables occupied.

Pizza Exoress Haywards Heath. Table was booked for 5 people & not set up when we arrived ( they looked surprised to see us) Slow service. One of the desserts wasn’t available & we weren’t told until all other desserts had arrived. Had to ask 3 times for milk & sugar for tea. The two waiting staff looked unenthusiastic and disinterested in customers. Won’t be returning.

Went in on a Tuesday night so it's was quiet. We were met at the door by a wonderful young lady who took care of me and my colleague throughout the evening. Can't fault the service one little bit. Polite and happy and very helpful especially when it came to the dessert menu. Small issue with a voucher code but with the help of the manager, who was also extremely nice, it was sorted. Food was great and well cooked. Will definitely be going back.

Pizza was cold (but it’s minus 2 out so that’s probably understandable!) but it was delicious. My main gripe is that the advertised time for delivery is WAY off.. at order it said 20 to 30 minutes and it took that PLUS an hour. The estimated time after order just kept getting pushed back and back. The poor delivery guy (who was very nice) was kept ages at the restaurant. It can’t be that hard to advertise current order time to delivery time estimates. Come on Pizza Express get it together.. it’s

Came for Sunday lunch as a group of 7. Service was OK, a little slow though considering only 4 occupied tables. Pizzas were all good, crisp bases, and good amount of toppings. Suprised to find caramel pizza dolce unavailable. Restaurant would be a good option for a large group dinner.

Food was delivered almost 2 hours after ordering. The pizza itself was fine hence the 3 stars. The delivery time kept getting pushed later and later but Just Eat wouldn't let me cancel the order because it was already being made. I ordered around 6.15pm, tried to cancel at 7.30pm and turns out my order wasn't even prepared till 8.09pm! Absolutely shocking service. Won't be ordering take away here again.

Food arrived cold, soggy and over an hour late. Called and spoke to restaurant twice, the first time when it was originally due; was told that they couldn't find a driver but my food had been ready for the last half hour. Label on food confirms that it was ready for collection at 19:23, food got to me at 20:29. Fair enough if the delivery drivers aren't available when needed, but at least remake the order fresh before sending it out. Food almost inedible as a result of being sat around for over an hour. Tried to call to complain but suddenly not answering the phone..

It seems common these days for pizza places to buy in the pizza bases. It's less common for them to buy in enough gluten free bases. There's something rather disappointing in being offered two children's bases instead, particularly when two children's meals would be cheaper. That turns a meal into a disappointment. It turns out that the management aren't that concerned about bad reviews either. No sign of the promised addressing of my review. My single star for service is down to management and not the waiting staff..

Pretty good, gluten-free dough balls were great. Gluten-free pizza could have been better but it was nice just being able to eat out! It was a Sunday afternoon so very quiet at the time. Peach fizzy drink was one of the best soft drinks I've had before.

We have visited and enjoyed fabulous service and pizzas on about 7 or 8 visits now. The many negative reviews are not only a surprise to read but also seen in spite of the fact that on every visit the restaurant has been very busy. Highly recommended. Great pricing structure and benefits when purchasing together with the PE rewards app.

Ah, Pizza Express in Haywards Heath! Mama mia, what an experience! 🇮🇹 I must say, when it comes to dough balls, they've truly "rolled" out the red carpet. The dough balls were so light and fluffy, they made me feel like I was back in Nonna's kitchen. I almost expected to find a little surprise inside, like a hidden pizza treasure! 🍕💎 The pizza? Bellissimo! It transported me straight to Napoli with each bite. And the atmosphere, molto bene! It felt like a true Italian piazza. I half-expected to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa right outside! Overall, a delightful experience that warmed my Italian heart. Grazie mille, Pizza Express! You've made this Italiano molto contento! 🍕🇮🇹👌

The staff are always very nice.

The food arrived freezing cold and half of the order was missing, including one of the mains. Also there was no garlic butter with the dough balls, no pesto with the pollo milanese starter and no garlic oil on the pizza.

I had a pasta dish which was meant to be pesto, pine nut, I have never had a bowl of pasta that tasted so bland, it was thick heavy cream with no flavour what so ever. What an overpriced restaurant with staff whom clearly didn't care if you weren't satisfied. It will be the last time we wast money eating overpriced tasteless food. Shame on you Pizza express.

This review is based solely on Pizza Express - Haywards Heath and Uber takeaway service on the evening of Friday 14th July 2023. We ordered three pizzas and one calzone for takeaway. The delivery slot was between 19:13 to 19:23. After waiting forty minutes beyond that time I rang the restaurant hoping to speak to someone, but unfortunately I had to leave a message. However there was the promise that a member of staff would get back to me. A further forty minutes lapsed, another phone call made and another promise broken. The meal was finally delivered at 20:40 but had been ready for collection at 19:07, according to the docket attached to the pizza box. And, yes, the food did look and taste as if it had been knocking around for ninety minutes either on the counter or in a delivery bag. Again, another wasted phone call. Our first and last home delivery of pizzas from Pizza Express.

It was Luke warm at best, the delivery driver was a long time in the store, and then delivered, as if he had been on a couple more deliveries on the way. Definitely not the same as take out from PE. Not going to order again from pizza express The delivery time was changed after the order. It wasn’t late, but not on time of original order

The atmosphere was nice - quiet on Satirday lunchtime but a few families & groups in for a bit of hubub. The service was good, speedy and professional. You know what you're getting with a pizza express, the food isn't fantastic but it was a reliably pleasant lunch!

Will order again however was disappointed as both pizzas weren’t hot only lukewarm. These things happen hopefully next time piping hot!

My gf pizza had been tipped and all toppings slipped off

I ordered delivery as unable to collect or eat in. To defend them the taste was all there, crispy base, nice amount of toppings, shame it was cold!!!!! But what do you expect when collection time for delivery driver is 2037 and i get it 2103!!!!! so how long was it sat out for before collection and how many other drop offs before it gets to me. Those boxes don't keep it warm and there thermos clearly didn't get so I can only think it was sat out a while before collection to have cooled the amount it did.... .... its a shame really as pizza wasn't bad but really I'm not a fan of cold pizza

I took my son out for lunch to celebrate the end of his GCSEs. The young woman who looked after us was brilliant. My son is autistic and when he asked but to have ice cream with his brownie she checked whether he wanted icing sugar which was so thoughtful of her - it wasn't an issue for him but it could have been. Great food and great service, despite being busy. Highly recommended.

Nice place, tables outside very wonky indeed but was fun. Pretty much what you expect food wise I'd prefer if they have a balsamic glaze to complement the pizza. Worth a try just arrive little early as parking is an issue on the roads nearby

Food ok but served at random times and some items missing, no cutlery, no glasses with water, no napkins on the table. Make sure you check the bill before paying!

Good food and excellent service. My Calzone Nduja (a favourite of my waitress, apparently) had some real heat to it, which was great. Pro tip 1: be aware that a lot of the soft drinks are the diet versions. It’s absolutely fine, but just make sure to check the menu if this is something which bothers you… Pro tip 2: if a dish is described as having chilli, it will have chilli and you’ll know about it. I like hot foods, so that’s great, but if you’re not so keen, check first!

Pizza Express in Haywards Heath makes the best Pizzas in the square mile and the accessibility, ambience, quality of staff are top notch. The pizzas are slightly costlier than the others in town but then you get what you pay for! Full marks, 10/10.

Pizza was undercooked and soggy

Service was slow. Most staff are friendly. Management here, however, is very rude. Julian is condescending and talks down to customers. Went out of his way to make my stay there difficult and told me it was MY fault that he couldn’t work out how to make our drinks the usual price considering they had bottles half the size (peroni) all in all, a terrible experience and I would like to tak further with someone of higher management and greater customer service skills before I take my business back here.

Food was fine but service was terrible. Had booked two tables for my parents wedding anniversary. Arrived to find no tables prepared with a virtually empty restaurant. Very slow service and a rude, inattentive waiter. With only one other table occupied in the restaurant at the time we sat down. The management need to review the way the staff serve customers as it felt like the waiter didn’t enjoy his role and wanted to do something else - not suitable attitude for a service oriented job.

First time takeaway 9" pizza felt warm at best, lukewarm nondescript polenta fries you could count on two hands and a small garlic bread portion. Disappointing for a price north of £20.

Pizza cold, no garlic dip with the dough balls??

We arrived at 13:00 for our booked table. By 13:30, we had to flag down staff to place our order. By 14:00 we had received nothing- not even drinks, so we stood up and told the staff to cancel everything because we had been waiting an hour and had not received anything- the staff member didn’t seem bothered at all, simply said ok and walked away. No apologies. The (apparent) manager didn’t come over either. Whilst we were there a waitress also dropped, and shattered, a glass whilst clearing a table. When she had ‘finished’ sweeping this up, there were still large shards of glass by our table and at the front door. They were still there when we left, it’s lucky no one (including the children running around) was injured. Worst experience I’ve had in a pizza express. Have complained to the main company as this clearly isn’t an isolated incident for this location. They can’t cope, booking too many tables for the space and staffing levels they have. Ridiculous. Will not return.

Food was ok not great. Service was not good. starter did not come out together. Everyone was finished before the last starter can out. Main- had 3 wrong order Pudding - Did not have any as we was waiting 25min for them to take are order a not so busy day. Only two other table. Plus most of the menu you served us had old food on it .

Booked a table for six people for 6.15 on Friday night, special treat for my grandchildren, turned up on time and no table. Explained that we had a table booked and the guy just shrugged and that was his total apology. He made it perfectly obvious that he could not care less. I will never use this place again.

Ridiculously poor service - food great but staff don’t care. Delays, wrong orders (including getting allergy orders wrong) - just not ok.

Shocking customer service. Sat for almost 1 hour with no drinks. Felt we were ignored despite staff not busy at other tables and many mistakes made. 1. Took about 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us at the door 2. Took 40 minutes for us to be able to get someone’s attention to order initial drinks 3. We asked for water for the table, it never came 4. Some dips and extras asked for never came 5. Struggled to get attention to ask for the bill. A member of our group had to go up to the till and ask for it. 6. After we paid, and sensibly asked for the service charged removed after the shocking service, who we presume to be the manager came to our table and said ‘hope you enjoyed your meal!’ With the most sarcastic thumbs up ever. The lady who wasn’t in uniform, was in a grey top so guess she was the manager, clearly ignored everyone we tried to make eye contact, and was super sarky at the end after missing out on her tip. The young girl who served us also was friendly and food was ok, not as good as usual. Compared to Uckfield Pizza Express which is fantastic, this was a shocking experience and we will never return. Need a serious staff shake up and attitude shift!!

Awful. Stone cold, unsliced pizzas. The sides are a joke in terms of size and quality. Overpriced rubbish - avoid.

I went for a dinner after 2 year break. Honestly I remeber it being much better. The place is really cold as people leave door open for way too long. Hated the chairs - felt like sitting on a plank, most uncomfortable. The place feels a bit worn out. Food was okay but not great. Sorry to say, not my favourite place in Haywards Heath.

i hate complaining or leaving bad reviews but had to share. had a reservation, at first brilliant the manger sat us done, the server took our drink order and we order a starter sadly they only had the chicken stripes and not the wings when after we ordered it. it came out quickly, the starter was so good . then waiting an hour still no food. even the people who was sat after us were served food. when asked the server. he told the boss and can see clearly they forgot about us. the sever came back and apologise saying there was a mix up. and food should be out quickly. when the food was out, the pizza was burned but good sadly not amazing to be waiting an hour for. but also checked the bill they had kept the wings on even though we never got . they quickly took it off the bill when said. but aswell just felt like they wanted us gone. didn't care if we wanted a dessert or asked for more drinks while waiting for the pizza.

Order a delivery. Missing 2 dishes out of the 5 we ordered. Didn’t answer any calls. Pizza was freezing cold and inedible. Won’t be ordering again!
