Sat evening visit. Rude waitress and poor service. Waitress indifferent to customers, despite being quite empty, food took an age to arrive and staff more interested in having a chat than helping customers. Plenty of food choices in Cathedral Square so no need to visit again.

Four of us turned up for lunch to celebrate my daughters GCSEs, walked in, waited looked around and there were 5 tables with people and the rest were empty. So dumbstruck to hear the waitress tell us that we couldn’t be seated for 45 mins as they needed to clean up. Guessing they are understaffed. Went elsewhere and won’t be going back again.

Visited on Sunday 4th August at 5.00. Wasn't busy, besides us there was 3 tables, service very slow. There were tables that needed clearing when we went in and they were still full of empty plates when we left.

Booked for my son’s birthday for a family lunch (2 adults and 4 children). Excellent location and easy to get to, spacious tables so had plenty of room. The service was excellent and the food was lovely with a great choice for all on the menu. Also child friendly, facilities for babies and young children were great. Thank you!

I took my little girl out for a celebratory lunch today for a great end of the year school report.She choose Pizza Express.We have been to few PEs around the country but our local one is still the favourite.We already know few of the staff (Karola and Diana are the ones worked today) and they always welcome us nicely.Food was delicious as always,the special biscotti ice cream sundae is to die for!My dsughter was very happy with the updated games on the kids menu.

I recently visited Peterborough's Pizza Express and had an outstanding experience. The garlic prawns were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The Calabrese pizza was amazing, perfect crust and fresh, tasty toppings. The staff ( Kazz and Diana)were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the entire dining experience a pleasure. I highly recommend this location for anyone seeking great food and exceptional hospitality

I booked for 11.30 arrived 11.28. We were waiting patiently at the entrance but there was some kids sat inside the lady just looked at me annoyed and said they are not open yet not even asked if we have booking. It was just 2 minutes and we were just standing at the front. I booked to celebrate my wedding anniversary. So we just left and went somewhere else where they were happy to serve us.

We went in today 12th June for lunch.. extremely disappointing. I had the lasagne. When it arrived it was like a bowl of Molton lava. Re heated to quickly and at a very high heat.. Once cooled down enough to try I could of done with a spoon. It was more like a lasagne soup. Very sloppy.. my friend had the the cannelloni and was very much the same.. Will definitely not be going again.

Was shopping in town with family and decided to have some lunch and chose to eat here we were seated straight away, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was really good and hot and didn't feel rushed and didn't wait to long in-between courses, looking forward to going again x

Five of us ate here after pre booking. The service was ok, would have been a good idea to have taken the starter plates away before bringing the mains, then having to stand and wait while we piled them up. We sat next to the serving area so wouldn’t have been difficult to have taken the mains back. The food was nice and especially having a separate vegan menu. Various dishes, pizza, salads, dough balls, fries. Pretty standard for a Pizza Express.

Ordered food on line paid for it and you guessed it the order was only half delivered. Can't call anyone to talk to them just an answering system. Feel ripped off, angry and won't leave this company a good review very poor

Popped in just to use some Clubcard vouchers up. Otherwise we dont tend to use this chain as we find £16 for a pizza thats not really out of this word too expensive given the amount of other eateries in our town centre. Greeting upon entry was more conveyor belt style than warm and genuine but i must say service was fact and efficient. Pizza was average Toilets definitly needed a check as looked like they might not have had a deep clean in a while. Probably wouldnt recommend.

One of the worst pizzas I've ever had. The ham, mushroom, and olive pizza tasted like tomato sauce on a terrible crust. The second pizza was inedible. Perhaps if people leave honest reviews, Pizza Express will strive to improve and win back customers. Not recommended

Sadly the Pizza maker looked as if she didn't want to be there and the food area could have done with a tidy up. Little or no atmosphere as the menu has been changed out of all recognition from the original Pizza Express concept. The thin base pizza was so thin it was like a crispbread and the toppings very thinly spread. The Server did her best to brighten the place up but really the franchise now is so far removed from the original format it's just another overpriced Pizza Outlet. Perhaps if they revisited the original menu and started using pizza oven trays again the thin base would be better. Thick based pizza can be fired directly on the pizzeria oven floor but not the thin base. Sadly won't be making a beeline for that outlet anytime soon. They have also bumped up the prices for beverages. Our tab for 2 was nearly £70....

Went to this restaurant last Saturday for lunch. Karolina met us at the door and made us feel very welcome from entry and was attentive throughout. She took our order and made a couple of good suggestions. The rest of the Saturday team were also very friendly enquiring after us. Must mention Jess, Katie, Diana and Donna who all came to see how we were and how the food was. All of the food (starters and mains) tasted great. Luke and Patty's food was spot on!! Pizzas were very tasty with good toppings. All in all another great experience all round. Highly recommend this restaurant and the Peterborough team.

I had to delete my previous review (5 stars) and write a new one because I would like to know why the whole vegan menu was changed. My favourite pizza was American hot and they got rid of it and left like 3 vegan pizzas on the menu. Had to look at my bfs American hot pizza with jealousy lol. I used to love coming to American Express but I won’t be returning. We tried asking the server why they got rid of all the vegan pizzas but she didn’t understand what we were talking about, bless her. I tried the new vegan mezze pizza and it was alright but the aubergine was a bit mushy and it was £17. The next day I ordered a vegan pizza from domino’s for £12 which was way better. It looks like American Express is going bankrupt, the prices went up and the menu is lacking now. Please fire whoever made a decision to get rid of all the vegan pizzas that had vegan pepperoni on them. Absolutely ridiculous

I ordered there through Uber Eats. The order was very expensive for the amount of food. The portions were very small for the price.

Went into pizza express with a couple of friends on Thursday for a long overdue catch up. We were served by Katie and kazz who were brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. Made our drinks beautifully. Very accommodating around our needs (2 of us have severe misophonia) Pleasant experience. Can’t wait to go again

Lovely food for a busy saturday night walkin table of 4 at aroud half 7/ 8 and was seated al.ost immediately as apposed to the 20 mins plus waiting time for nandos .... easy ordering pleasant staff and great food many thanks

I don't like pizza but I went with friends before the football at the Posh . I had a pasta meal it was ok but the portion size was very small and cost a lot , it was expensive to be honest . The coffee I had was ok . My friends had various pizzas and they seemed to like them except one person in the group , they said the prices were a bit higher to what they are used to . The service was excellent though the staff seemed very hardworking and friendly.

Had a great Saturday lunch. We came in just as it opened and it was packed by the time we left. Yummy food, nice and clean.

We went for a family birthday meal. Children get colouring and puzzles to do. Amazing staff and fabulous food. Very clean and tidy.

I've ordered take away from this place for years and now see , how the plant based food is being done. Chef was dipping her hands with no cloves into vegetables and ham. So the bowls containing tomatoes and other plant based toppings were being touched with bare hands that had been dipped into meat based toppings. not good is it. Not sure if she washed her hands before making my plant based without animal body parts dish. But it doesn't matter because the hands were being dipped into the bowls without gloves. It's not good at all. Sad that this hasn't crossed managements head. SLIMMING WORLD CHEF , who was on the fuller side herself, didn't have this genius idea cross her mind ? This is what we need to deal with when floride , pregnant cows tity milk brains work in society . There's no COMMON SENSE. As Kasein protein layer around their brain is too thick, to receive information. Manager denied that. Manager said. While they make their meat pizza. The chef takes the chicken , washes her hands and then takes the tomato, then takes cheese, and washes her hands again and grabs a onion. She would have to wash her hands then multiple times, while making a meat pizza. Lol. Wear gloves and have an order for toppings. That doesn't happen in this place. No respect whatsoever to be fare. And could be seen from the chefs grinning. Some of us don't want to be animal body parts eating human beings. I was sitting and observing the process . The hand washing does not take place. And gloves are not used . So verdict is, All vegetables have been touched with hands that just touched a dead animal body part. So manager lied and other plant based people need to be warned by these slimming world models.

Always love an evening at Pizza Express. We love to book slightly later in the evening so we have the place to ourselves but the service and food is great anytime.

I replied no to which we are told it’s just “bookings only”. The place was dead for crying out loud! My partner looked online and the next free spot was in 20 minutes time for a table LOL! He was going to book it but noo way! Am I heck gonna book online for a table when there is a dozen tables free now! What is there problem? Clearly don’t want any custom! I’ve never known anything like it.. I’ll go back to the kings Lynn branch where the place is busy and the people are friendly and welcoming! Anyway the Nando’s was great a few doors down. I’d advise you go there instead, friendly faces and decent food!

I didn't really like this place. The waitress gave us dirty looks and the the pizza is so thin and expensive. It was our first time going to see how it is there and we aren't going back there again. There's places with better prices and better pizza. In my opinion rich people who don't really want to eat too much would go there.

I do love Pizza Express, it's one of our family favourites places, just keep on finding ourselves coming back. Really nice food for adults and kids and very polite friendly service.

Boosted the place to collect a surprise bag courtesy Too Good to Go. The place looks cozy and looks well worth a visit later. Nice friendly staff who didn't have any issues with the collection. The food was delicious. Enjoyed every last model of the Cannelloni.

Just been to pizza express Peterborough, unfortunately not a positive dine for us. Staff was not available, ask for extra Caesar dressing never received, when to the kitchen counter to ask the chef, which was rude also the chefs didn’t wear an head at all, so all the pink hair was free to land anywhere, ask for extra cheese on margerita and was less than my husband American hot. Before we pay I mentioned it to waitress as I had photo as well, she said will take of the extra cheese and have to wait again to do so, wish I have not said anything not worth the 1.60. Very poor , staff looks bored and the restaurant vibe was bored,we find out when one of our favourite waitress work and would attend only when she is in. At least she always get the order right.

Great time and great food. I went with few friends during the week for catch up and good food. Staff friendly and food came out quick and fresh. Out waitress Kazz was ever so helpful with a bit of laughter too. Definitely recommend Romana base - just delicious.

We had a family dinner few weeks ago on a busy Friday night. The food was delicious, the service excellent. The wine recommendation was on point. We had a great evening in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We are all looking forward to our next visit.

I love pizza, and I always loved thin crust. I do believe pizza express has got the best dough - if you do like thin crust They are the best for me and you never get disappointed having one at Peterborough branch. Me and my family went in lunch time, food came out nice and fresh, we didn’t wait too long for it. Our waitress Kazz was very helpful with what to order as my parent weren’t sure what to have. Fab food fab service, only one thing you could ask for it the music in background just to have that touch xxx

Went on Thursday afternoon, we were shown to a table and then forgotten about for 20 minutes. Staff just didn’t seem bothered to take our order so we got up and left. Very strange it wasn’t even busy.

What can I say? Food is the same as any pizza express but this has a particularly nice vibe with very friendly waiters/waitresses: attentive, patient (we were a LARGE party), and friendly. We were basically the last to leave but they didn't hurry us at all. Excellent service indeed!

I have always had a good experience at pizza express but tonight the food was awful. Hardly any cheese on the margarita pizza, was very cold, pizza base tasted chemically, very disappointed, couldn't even finish 1 slice. Contacted customer service online who weren't much help, awaiting an email that could take up to 48 hours to receive!

Comfortable and pleasant, servers were very nice and service was fast. The food was delicious and the free dough balls were divine, I'm gonna try the honey ones next time.

My family popped in for a quick late lunch. It took 45 mins to serve the starters because the chef went on a break. Whilst I understand people need breaks it would have been good if the staff had warned us of the delay. When the pizza finally arrived it was one of the worst pizza express pizzas we have ever had. It was mostly dough with very little topping or flavour apart from grease. In future we will use the Pizza House down the road. I won't be returning to this pizza express.

Gary the waiter was really welcoming and kind from as soon as me and my family came in. All staff really attentive and food was lovely!

Lovely to eat outside on a nice day, staff were a bit short staffed but did an excellent job making sure we were fed and watered. Pizzas were as good as I'd expect great dessert too.

More expensive than we were expecting, good range of pizzas but little else.

THE RATING IS PURELY ON THE HOSPITALITY AND EMPLOYEES FOOD RATING: 4/5 Update 2/07: Nayia was amazing, really joyful, nice and professional. The other one was the same as last time unfortunately. Waited 20 minutes for someone to take my order, usually that’s not a problem, but this time it was only us and 1 other family in the whole restaurant. After the 20 minutes spent with the other family laughing, the waiter came to us with a dead serious face and a bad attitude. After we finally ordered the waiter went and start gossiping about us to the other family( they turned and looked at us) . In terms of hospitality, 1 star. Very unprofessional. The starter, Bruschetta, was good, but it was served too hot. Served in approximately 10 minutes after ordering. Total wait time since we arrived: 30 minutes. I ordered a “La Reine” pizza, and a gentleman who ordered after me with 15 minutes, it was served first the same pizza as me, while i had to wait another 15-20 minutes. Total wait time since we arrived 50 minutes. The pizza was good, tasteful, well made. It was uncut, no second plate and no ustensils to cut it. The calamari’s were really good. I would not come back here. The only good thing is the food, and that needs improvement aswell on how it’s served.

As a new gold member, I was excited to come and test out my gold membership, and I was not let down! I got served quickly, and we were given several options where we wanted to sit and then shared our menus. The menu is the same throughout the other branches I have tried. We knew we wanted to have the infamous free dough balls (if you are a bronze member or above) and the Americano with the free Romana upgrade (available through the gold membership), and both were tasty. Our server was great and went over and above to ensure we had a great visit. Our drinks were made lovely, and we could eat in peace. I thought the pizza was delicious, and the pepperoni was delicious; I could not fault it. We decided, due to our lovely visit, we would stay a little longer and order pudding, I ordered the new sunset sundae, and my partner ordered tiramisu, and both were so good. This branch of Pizza Express is much like most of their branches. It is quite spacious and well laid out with everything based around an open, visible cooking area. The food is typical Pizza Express fare with a range of options for different dietary preferences. It was tasty and filling but a bit slow on arriving even though we were one of only two tables being served at the time. Service was pleasant but nothing exceptional. Toilets are in individual units with three ladies' toilets and two male toilets all of which are situated on the first floor up a flight of stairs. The one I used was clean and tidy and pleasant to use. There is also one disabled toilet available on the ground floor. I would happily recommend this restaurant and will return again.

Customer service was great. However the food is definitely not worth the price. I spent about £30 on two pizzas and the size of the pizzas was an absolute joke. Me and my friends ordered 3 bottles of water which was nearly the same price as one pizza. Very disappointed, won’t be going back!

2 adults: Delicious margherita and Fiorentina pizza's. Excellent service, friendly. Reasonably priced and good atmosphere.

Feels like Pizza Express are ramping up their prices but at the same time slashing portion sizes beyond belief. I had the new garlic mushroom starter (nearly £7) for what was a tiny portion. My partner had the king prawns which had been swapped to small prawns. They need to be much more attentive to guests and balance out the costs to what you get served.

OK- very busy....not really enough staff working over the busy lunchtime. Food nice. Side salad very overpriced for what I ended up with

Nice pizza, was surprisingly enjoyable. Stood waiting at the door to get seated for what felt like five minutes whilst 3/4 members of staff looked at us and totally ignored us. Felt like an absolute chump. After that it was fine.

Went for Mother’s Day Lunch as a group of 12. Food was nice but Caesar Salads were missing anchovies which we had to ask for and there was no lettuce so rocket was offered instead which meant a rocket fest in the Salads.

Terrible walked in two staff looked at us then spoke to the chef then looked at their watches made us feel totally uncomfortable then sat us next to a cold window and the place had only two tables in. Asked for a Gin bad tonic was told they don’t do tonic , then the staff wondered off and don’t come back for drinks to burst trying to close, went to cote Brassirie was packed and great service and food. I love pizza express but so disappointed with this one

Awful experience today. Staff weren’t accommodating and had to wheel ourselves in with our baby stroller to the restaurant. I have been to Pizza Express in Dubai and by far this is the worst branch I’ve been to. Nobody told us that we had to cut out our own pizza. The brownie that my kid had was as hard as a stone. See the video for yourselves. I will not comeback to this branch.

The drink I ordered has nothing in common with what I received, I ordered Hugo, I was brought Aperol Spritz ... and the American Hot pizza is a piece of cardboard but not dough. The menu was very poorly structured, there was no "Pizza" title, I had to figure out what was pizza or not!

Service was amazing , the team on was very pleasant and helpful . Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon .

I would like to inform you of my terrible experience at your restaurant. I was shocked of how I was spoken to by a member of your staff. I ordered my meal, a pizza, with a side of dough balls and calamari. When the calamari arrived it was burnt so I asked your waitress if I can have another as it is over cooked and her response was ‘so you want it undercooked’. She said this with such rudeness I was speechless. She grabbed the calamari and took it to the chef as I watched her point and make remarks. I knew at this point there was no way I could even have any trust in eating the calamari that was brought over. Such poor attitude and rudeness is unacceptable, especially as as a lone person choosing to come to your restaurant to spend my hard earned money. The waitress was eaten European with pink highlights in her hair. I would appreciate that if choose to dine in your restaurant your staff have the adequate training in hospitality and know how to treat their customers.

Food was quick and very nice. To add to that, the waitress was absolutely gorgeous and amazing so deffo made the experience for me. We didn’t get her name but she seemed pretty young. So to show the care she had when we accidentally knocked over and smashed a glass was really professional. As a cleaner in st Neots I would love to work in Peterborough as everyone seems very nice and the place is great. Just incredible. will definitely go more often

We came here after having a bad experience at a restaurant in London. This was a much more pleasant experience and the staff were so nice and helpful. The food was nice and hot and their drinks were really good. It definitely made up for the bad experience we had in the past.

Pizza's were very good, but they were also very busy.

We visited Peterborough Cathedral Square's Pizza Express on the 16th December, and it was amazing! We were served by an absolutely lovely man called Gary who we think deserves a raise. He was polite, kind and extremely helpful, and we couldn't have asked for a better server. We strongly recommend to go here if you're looking for absolutely impeccable customer service.

Had to wait an hr for 3 pizzas at 1pm.Terrible service. Wouldn't visit again

Restaurant fairly busy, the waitress that greeted us was very friendly, and gave us a table by he window as requested. Served very promptly. The food was delicious, although rather on the expensive side. We were asked several times if everything was OK. Could not fault the service, very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was very clean, as were the toilets, although quite a walk! There was a lovely atmosphere. We would definitely visit again when in the area next.

If I could give it no stars I would. I’ve never had a worse experience in a restaurant. We came for our friends birthday celebration, I had asked for Prosecco to be ready on the table for when we arrived as a little surprise. When we got there, we waited at the host stand to be seen to having already clocked the Prosecco. We were told by the manager, Donna, “well it’s obviously that one there with the Prosecco” with a wave of the hand and then walked away from us. We seated ourselves, no menus on the table, no glasses for the Prosecco. No one came over to us for nearly 20 minutes, at which point Donna brought us over 2 Prosecco glass and one coupe cocktail glass. Safe to say not a great start. We then waited for another 15 minutes before having to flagged someone down to take an order. No drinks order at all. We had no idea all evening who out server was. Our starters came quite quickly and were absolutely delicious. We then sat with dirty plates for half an hour until we flagged someone down again. Still no drinks order. We waited and waited for our mains, 2 tables who arrived after us had eaten, paid and left by this point. 2 other tables who arrived after were served their meals before us. When Gary finally came over and apologised for the wait we asked to speak to a manager, Donna. To say she was rude is an understatement. When we explain we had an event to attend to within the next 10 minutes and we were waiting for our mains an hour and 50 minutes after seating, we were told our pizzas were on the pass getting cold. I said if they are cold we don’t want them to which she replied that if I kept her there “chatting” they would just get colder so to decide what we want to do, either have the pizzas or leave. I said we would have our pizzas in a box and we will be leaving. Someone else brought over our pizzas on a plate and tossed the boxes at us. We packed them ourselves and went to leave, at which point Donna proceeded to threaten me. My friend who’s birthday we were celebrating was left in tears by the experience. I will never be returning so long as Donna is still a part of the management team. Having said this, the food was delicious and Gary was lovely and could apologise more. We tried to stay to leave him a tip but when we started to receive threats from Donna who then ran away from me when I questioned her over it, we couldn’t get out of there quicker.

Ordered over £40 worth of food, which although delivered quickly turned out to be cold and small. Maybe charge less for delivered food instead of adding a delivery charge. Food for thought. Will stick with a supermarket pizza next time.

We were served quickly by friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. We had a very enjoyable meal and will be back.

There were 8 of us, restaurant was pretty quiet, took an hour to get the food - we only went for mains. My chair was broken so got another and told the server - wooden chair, if I leant back it would have snapped and caused an injury. Chair benches in a booth next to us has been slashed with a knife, looked a mess. A staff member must have gone for a cigarette near the back door as smoke smell came into the our area. Food was good but had run out of some choices so had to get something else. If you have a menu, order the stuff !!

We visited this Pizza Express on a quiet Sunday evening, and found the staff very friendly. The locale of this restaurant is right in the historic heart of Peterborough.

For £50 that was well below par. Pizza & Sides COLD. The Dessert all over the box

**Update For Owners Reply** *You are correct the drinks are not included in the kids menu. Apologies! I’ve think the confusion came when our waiter offered them apple/pear or berry juice and we presumed that come with the kids meal!* *Original Review* We had a nice meal here this afternoon with the family. The staff was very friendly and quick service. My wife who has celiac disease ordered the gluten free pizza. She was concerned it wasn’t cooked enough but was assured that is how it comes. Maybe just personal preference but she found the dough abit “sticky”. My pizza and the children’s were great. The children wanted lemonade with there meals instead of the juice from the kids meal menu. Maybe there could be a small price decrease as I paid for the lemonades and the juice in the kids meal, which they didn’t have. Or maybe a bigger choice of drinks on the kids menu. Overall though we had a nice meal and would return. We paid £58 for 2 pizzas, 2 kids meals, 1 starter and 4 soft drinks.

Came into the Peterborough restaurant last week, the Assistant Manager Donna, was incredibly helpful and had excellent customer service. Definitely an asset to the team and the company. Good food was produced in a timely manner with no errors. The kids loved it too - especially with being able to see the chefs in the kitchen making the food from where we were seated. Will definitely be returning, everyone is very friendly.

We arrived and been seated, then waited half an hour for a waitress but noone even asked what we’d like to drink. Noone cared we’d been sitting there waiting, and the same happened with another two couples who arrived at the same time. 3 waitresses were standing and chating but nokne wanted to serve customers. Disgusting treatment, never go back again.

Upon entering we were greeted and our booked table was pointed out to us. We were seated but not provided menus. The waiter then came to take out drinks order, still no menus. Our drinks took 20 minutes to be served during which time we got up and got our own menus. We were then asked for our food orders which upon arrival had some issues, one pasta dish was ordered without chicken but came with, a salad was ordered but did not come. The food itself was decent but honestly no better than a standard takeaway with far more cost, wouldn't revisit.

If I could have given more stars I would, we had such a lovely visit today. The meal was delicious, and the staff are so friendly. My daughter was quite upset, and the manager came over and got down to her level to speak to her, even took her to make ice cream. Which made my daughter so happy. With her being autistic we are constantly judged when out, when she is struggling, and the manager made us feel so comfortable that I didn’t feel like we had to rush of like so many places have made us feel in the past. All the staff spoke to my daughter in such a kind way. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and we cannot wait to visit again. Thank you so much for giving us a lovely afternoon.

well it was that time of year for me to go to truck fest in p/borough, i had again booked a table at pizza express for myself, &was greated by a smiley waitress and shown to my table. i ordered jalapinio dough balls 4 starters, then diavolo , then a lemon roulade swilled down with couple bottles of none aloholic lager. and of course kelly the manageress came over and we started talking on how things have gone since saw them last aug. And as usual the food was spot on and delishious, So i had a enjoyable meal & time in pizza express 10/10 for this branch. i have been going down to pizza express and truck fest in peterborough since 2011,
