Great pizza as always 😋 Friendly service and nice beer as well!

Very disappointing. We had booked as a table of 6, cutlery on table was dirty on arrival and we had to ask for clean. They did not have two people's first choice (cannelloni). The starter and drinks were quick and good. However, we waited ages for the pizzas and even longer for the salad. The pizza was luke warm, one was burnt on the bottom and contained a hair. It was expensive for a poor meal and service. We didn't bother with dessert or coffee and won't be returning

Food excellent. Service outstanding. My son asked if my lasagna could be emptied onto a plate as it was far too hot to eat. A waitress sorted this without question. Sadly we didn't get our waitresses names but they were friendly and helpful. A lovely early birthday treat for my son. Thank you all and the chefs etc.

So, don’t even know where to start… I used to be in love with Pizza Express when I was working in central London and it was always my “go to” for lunch. I don’t know what changed, but their portions are smaller and the prices constantly go up, whilst the quality is also in quick decline. I finally decided to write a review because I ordered, about half hour ago, an order for collection. I have a mild allergy to rocket, which means that I can tolerate foods that get in contact with it, but cannot actually eat even a gram of it… therefore, I ordered, as I always used to, their Grand Chicken Caesar salad, that is supposed to have only cos lettuce as “leafy ingredient”, nothing else. To my big surprise, I got home to a demonic mix of leaves, mainly rocket to be clear, a tiny bit of lettuce and some spinach - see photo. I thought that I was maybe confused and I rechecked the menu on their site - see the second photo. And I was right! As per the standard recipe and their own menu, Pizza Express should have not given me a salad based on mixed leaves. Disappointing, even more so as they don’t deliver all the way to our home, so we had to drive for half hour to get there.

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived on Saturday. We were then given a mixture of 2 square tables and a round table. The 3 young children were served last. We got given someone else's order of doughballs first which was left on our table. There were empty tables so it wasn't that they were over busy. Disappointing family meal out.

If the service falls short from the start it's going to struggle. I have been here on a few occasions and although the restaurant is very welcoming there's always a sense of tension when it comes yo getting served quickly so you csn relax into the occasion. Probably needs one person to clear plates wipe down tables and reset quickly so your eye isn't drawn to empty crockery on tables nearby!

I’d like to share my experience at oxted pizza express, as I was genuinely taken aback by the atrocious service I was faced with. We arrived in the restaurant at 8pm , where there was one other table of 2 who looked as if they were on their mains. We put out stuff down and went to use the bathroom, came back and sat down on our table. We didn’t see the waitress for about 10 minutes and she didn’t come over for about 15 mins. We weren’t offered water or anything. The other table was looking for the waitress aswell as they looked as if they were waiting to pay. When she finally came over to take our order, she was rude, unprofessional and just ultimately very unwelcoming. I’ve worked in hospitality for about 3 years so I understand a busy shift, or having a bad day, however the attitude and interactions we faced this visit were actually laughable and unacceptable . On top of this, my pizza (me and a friend ordered the exact same meal), was sat out for 5 minutes without a heat lamp before it was bought over, meaning it was cold. The server did not check back at all, nor was she even present for me to complain about my food. I could go on for ages about how abysmal this visit was, however I would like to talk to a general manager of this branch and explain my experience further. I’ve had lots of good visits to this branch however this spesific one was so awful it puts me off returning.

Mothering Sunday. You had to book, which is fine, so they knew how many covers they had. I had garlic mushrooms to start, tinned , and lukewarm. Then I had pollo pasta, which consisted of a gooey sauce, lumps of tasteless chicken, bland and tasteless. Despite having quite a few servers, there was only one who seemed to know what she was doing. The rest dumped the food, and was gone before you could ask for anything. They didn’t clear the tables properly, not ours anyway. We had two children they only brought over 2 crayons and a piece of paper to colour, when we asked for a couple more colours, she just said we’ve run out, no apology, turned her back and off she trotted. Off hand and rude. Very expensive for basically cheap food. Don’t bother.

Have to say, I went on a awful night, one of the managers had walked out, but to their credit, a lovely lady called Betty and a young lad saved the day, yes we didn't get drinks or pizza until 10.00 and arriving at 7.30. But they gave us a bottle of wine. And we could see how stressful the situation was for all of them. 10/10 for keeping it together especially Betty who looked fraught.

Very nice restaurant but I think the pizzas are extremely over priced. Really thin base, too thin & barely any toppings. My daughter & I both had the burnt ends pizza & we were lucky if we got 6 chunks of meat, (I think it was brisket but I couldn't tell & I've been a butcher for 30 odd years). Couldn't find any other meat on there & it definitely wasn't hiding under the cheese. The staff, however were really good, 18 of us turned up out of the blue, they did take quite a bit of time but it gave us time to chat amongst ourselves. I spent over £130 on 2 starters, 4 pizzas & 5 drinks, wished I'd gone to Asdas & got some create your owns, would of saved at least £100 & had loads of toppings. Will not be rushing back to a Pizza Express soon.

The slowest pizza express known to mankind

Very slow service to begin with although did improve but nothing like the original Pizza Express we know and love.

We visited for a friend’s school party for her 7th birthday. I’ve never been to a Pizza Express pizza making party before. It was so much fun and very well organised. I was so impressed. Alex, the manager, was excellent and made sure it all ran very smoothly. He was attentive and made sure all of the kids were catered for and enjoying themselves. The kids meals looked absolutely delicious. As Alex was so great, I will book to go back, with my family soon. He made us feel so welcome. It’s a lovely, clean, family friendly restaurant, with delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere.

My daughter had a pizza making party at Pizza Express Oxted and had the best time! Alex the manager and the chef were fantastic and so helpful in making the party run smoothly. We couldn’t fault it! Thank you so much for a great time!

Super food and service. The staff were lovely, especially a chap called Victor who was so kind with my son. Would recommend.

Had a take away. Without doubt the worst pizza I have ever had and at 55 years old I have eaten some pizza in my time.3 pizza’s 1 portion of dough balls and 1 portion of slaw at the cost of £63 !!! paid for by a friend you may as well just mugged him in the street. Will not return absolute rubbish!

Excellent food and excellent service. You get good sized portions which is served hot and very tasty. I find some pizza places use a lot of salt. Not so Pizza Express, would definitely recommend here.

A very nice, spacious and very clean place but the quality and price are in dispute, very expensive for what they offer. Another thing we ordered different pizzas to try but they offer to choose between thin or thick dough, since it is the same dough but if they stretch it too much it is thin and if you leave it less stretched it is thick, that was the waiter's explanation, so a message for the managers, study a little what they offer, it doesn't matter if they are from China, if they work on a product, they know the first thing. I was very shocked at the poor service we’d ordered drinks at 6.30 and didn’t receive them till 7.10 and this was only the start then we’d been waiting a ridiculous amount of time just for the starter and then followed by the meal it’s self they’d try to over charge us as-well serves was very poor and I was unimpressed.

We love going to pizza express as a Family. Its such a nice treat with the kids. The coloring activity pack is brilliant for the kids and the service is always super quick and attentive. A really poor experience unfortunately. We were ignored at the door for 20 minutes. When seated service was inattentive and the food took 1.5 hours to arrive. Please investigate this decline in service as this establishment is usually on the ball. Don’t think I’ll be revisiting for a while

Had the Romana base, which results in a thinner, larger pizza. This also means that it gets served on a plate that is too small for the pizza and you are required to cut it up yourself with the provided pizza cutter, which is challenging given the plate size. If you opt for the classic crust then the opposite is true: suitable plate size and pre-cut into slices.

Quite a buzzy place, in Oxted. Feels lively. Food as expected, good standard, but not spectacular. Excellent service.

We held our daughter’s 4th birthday at pizza express in Oxted. It was brilliant. Great value for money, well organised and the kids loved it - and no clearing up for Mum!! Izzy ran the party and was brilliant with the kids and very attentive. Huge thank you. We’ll be back!

We go to this Pizza Express fairly often and have never had a bad experience, occasionally just ok but mainly good. Sometimes service may seem slow when it’s busy but we don’t mind as we like a leisurely meal out. Betty is great, remembers what we like to drink and is very helpful - always greeted with a smile! The rewards club is great!

Its Pizza Express. You know what you are getting here. The Oxted restaurant is nicer than most of the others.

I had a very nice visit with my daughter for lunch. The kids menu is great value and my daughter loved it. The service was brilliant - friendly and efficient. My pizza was nice but could’ve done with an extra minute or two in the oven as it was a bit doughy. Overall, a very good experience.

Staggeringly expensive. Staff were friendly, but the food was pretty sub par. We got take away and the standard pizzas were small and the thin stretched ones barely had any toppings. The pasta dish was nearly all sauce. Certainly won't bother returning.

Best place to eat with food allergies. Very well informed and trained staff. Just a shame the food is twice the price of 'ordinary' food.

An ideally located restaurant close to public transport links and within walking distance of Masters Park, The Barn Theatre, and the Everyman cinema. The atmosphere is relaxed, but lively, and the food is amazing.

We go 3-4 times a year to this Pizza Express & it's usually ok. Went yesterday & the food was ok as usual but the service was very poor. Not the waitress's fault - she was obviously doing her best - but they clearly did not have enough serving staff. In the end after a luke-warm pizza & having waited about 20 minutes for the plates to be cleared/order a desert we gave up & had to go as the kids were getting tired. Very disappointing as they wanted desserts & it was a birthday meal. I spoke to the manageress who I would say had all the warmth of the cold snap we're currently experiencing! I particularly liked the comment about how I should check how busy the restaurant is when booking!

We booked here for a pre bonfire evening meal, we used to use here when we lived locally so we thought it was a safe booking. Unfortunately the quality of the food and how much was actually on each meal, it was such a let down.

We booked for dinner a few weeks ago, we don’t have children but prefer to eat early for personal reasons. We were seated quickly having pre booked, the table was located in the window which is fine for us…. However once we had been given the menus we waited about 20mins to order a drink, if it was busy then we could understand it but there were 3 other tables plus ours. The service (with a different member of waiting staff) did improve and the food was lovely but being the only chain restaurant in Oxted they really need to up their game to be able to compete with the independents.

Went on Wednesday for the service to be slow and tables full of dirty plates with people waiting to be seated. Granted the staff were doing their best, however the manager constantly walked past making no attempt to help out any of her colleagues. Went to walk in half 8 on Thursday and got turned away saying they were doing bookings only with half of their restaurant empty. You’d think they’d want more customers? To add to that, we could book a table on the app for 9:15 which makes no sense why they wouldn’t want us in and out. Either way I wasn’t pleased with either experience.

Paris provided us with great service throughout a busy evening. Really appreciated it especially when we needed extra sauces! Thank you again!

We ate here Friday evening. A large group, our bill was over £300. One child ordered plain pasta with butter. What was (eventually) served was hard and inedible. When we asked for a fresh bowl of pasta we were told 1) that was as good as it was going to get and 2) if it was with sauce it would have been fine. Another of our party (adult) ordered spaghetti bolognaise and said his pasta was awful too but he ate it as he was so hungry. They did serve a replacement meal of pizza to the child however it took the time it took (which was fine) so the poor child was starving by the time it had arrived as it had taken an age to arrive in the first instance. The thing that annoyed and upset us the most was that we were made to feel that the reason the pasta was inedible was because it had no sauce on it, thus making the child at fault, not the restaurant. Which was unfair. Talking to others in the group afterwards, food was not great, okay or poor. Staff seemed untrained or inexperienced or uninterested. Overall, not great

Service was really good, but the pizza itself, disappointed. I had the garlic prawn with salad in the middle. About 6 prawns and salad was very plain, just spinach and rocket, no dressing which made for a dry meal. Not sure I'd go back in a hurry. Sorry pizza express

We decided to go for dinner at pizza express Oxted this evening but unsure of what time. I checked the website to see what time they closed and it said 22:30. I called the restaurant to check what was the latest time to place an order for food and they told me 22:15. They said there was no need to book a table as they weren’t busy. We arrived at 21:30 to be greeted by an empty restaurant and all staff staring at us like they’d seen a ghost! A male member of staff then asked “takeaway?” I said “no, I called 20 minutes ago to ask when last orders were and was told 22:15, it is only 21:30” the staff members then all looked at each other shocked and one said “but we’ve cleaned the kitchen!” They spoke amongst themselves for a short time while we stood waiting and then we were told it was fine and to take a seat and they’d get us some food. Obviously this is extremely unwelcoming. I called ahead of time to ensure there was space for us and that we were there in plenty of time to order food so we didn’t get there at the last minute and make everyone wait. We then placed our order quickly. Whilst we were eating our starter, a lady, who Ivan only assume was the manager as she was not wearing uniform, was leant on the counter staring at us while spinning her keys in her hands, she then started wandering around. It was the most unwelcoming experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Perhaps this would have been acceptable if we had arrived 1 minute before they had stopped serving food, however, we checked the time and arrived 45 minutes before they stopped taking orders. This was most unwelcoming, had I not been so tired I would have left and gone elsewhere, but I just wanted to eat dinner and go home. The food was delicious, no problems there. Just the unprofessional welcome of all staff members especially the manager who stood and stared at us while we ate our food which made us feel slightly uncomfortable.

Called pizza express oxted just before 7pm March 2nd to place an order but no answer. Tried twice e more but still no answer. I can understand it might be busy so I tried the website. After signing in and choosing what to order, tried to pay for it but I got a message that something had gone wrong. I tried again but got the same message. I thought it must be something I did wrong so I signed out and changed my password and tried again but still the same message. I gave up and went somewhere else. Pizza express lost a sale and my conclusion - the website is rubbish and I won't be trying anymore.

Booked a family dinner out, we were shown to our table and no one came to take an order, 20 mins later we walked out. I’m struggling to understand why we didn’t get served. The restaurant was very quiet and there was plenty of staff walking about. I let the lady who I presume was the Manager know but she didn’t seem bothered! Very disappointed with Pizza Express Oxted.

Had such a lovely dinner at Pizza Express in Oxted tonight. I had the Romana Padana pizza which was delicious along with haloumi and rocket salad sides. My wife enjoyed her leggera pizza. A real treat . Good efficient service . Thank you Pizza Express we will return.

Pizza very different from Brazil. Extremely thin dough and almost no filling lol. But very tasty. Reasonable price.

Customer Experience was disappointing. I arrived to collect our food order this evening and on arrival not even welcomed at the door , in fact I was left standing by the door for nearly a good five minutes without anyone making any effort to talk to me (the paying customer) When someone did eventually ask it was “are you here for the collection order that was put through?” I thought that was quite rude as there was no welcome or hello said but I understand people are busy on a bank holiday Monday evening. After I replied “yes I am” the woman walked off without saying anything. Couple of minutes later she returned and said “there you go” handing me the food. There was no Thank you ! which I thought was weird as previously Sunday when I was in there collect another big order the staff were very polite and helpful. The woman had a Lanyard on and was dressed differently to the others so I asked if she was the manager which she replied with “yes” so I then asked for her name and she told me her name was Anna. All I got was a confused look rather then the manager asking if everything is okay ? Infact no it was not okay to leave a paying customer standing at the door without a “hello / welcome / hi how can I help? , also not updating them with their food order or saying Thank you ! (as we have just driven 15 minutes to collect as we are just outside of the area for delivery.) The customer service tonight was disappointing and making me wonder why we drive 15 minutes to collect a pizza that dominos could have delivered and for a better price too. We came back because the food is Really Good ! The 1 star review is not based on the quality of the food because that’s great but it’s based on customer experience. I hope this improves dramatically if we do decide to come back again.

We had decided to have a nice family lunch which is doesn't happen too often lately. We had decided on Pizza express as it was easy and you know what you are getting, however on this occasion this was not the case. The Restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of staff who were very helpful and friendly. We ordered drinks and starters which all came quickly and the quality was great. When it came to the mains however it was a different story. My wife and children's food were all served and the waitress had to ask me what I ordered (they had lost my order) and I got my food as my family had eaten half of their food. This was very poor but not worth complaining about. The other issue was the Chicken Ceaser salad my wife ordered and has had before was vile - the new sauce was basically Salad Cream - There was no Garlic and my understanding is the Garlic is a key ingredient in this. My wife commented to the waitress that this didn't taste right so they replaced it with their house sauce which was nice but even close to what she ordered. She posted on Facebook her experience and two other people messaged her saying they had the same experience. however both had been told by their server's that the sauce has been changed. I am very surprised that despite my wife's honest comments the manager didn't even bother to come over and see if there was anything she could do - possibly because she was more interested in eating her own food. While the staff here were lovely and the rest of the food was good I do feel there is a lacking in staff communicating the changes on the menu, particularly on menu items that have been changed, I feel the manager of this branch is happy to leave the staff to deal with everything and not get involved. It was very disappointing and I feel the experience could have been made a bit better by the manager actually speaking to us and listening to our feedback.

Such lovely food and service. The lady serving us served up our birthday cake at the end and the staff sang along too. Such great value as well. First class.
