Pizza Express in Tandridge

Pizza express is the perfect place for a family meal. We went for my son’s birthday and David looked after us. He was excellent, worked so hard to make everything perfect for our large group with a very friendly manner and dished up a lovely personalised birthday dessert. He really made it a special outing for my son’s birthday. Thank you!

My friends and I visited the caterham branch last night and had an absolutely great time. The food was on point and the service was fantastic. The manager at the restaurant Olivia was so lovely and recommended us the popular dishes. Thankyou pizza express for a great evening

I dined here yesterday and was amazed by the warm welcome given by the staff, service was brilliant extremely accommodating to me and my family, Livvy the manager at the restaurant looked after us brilliantly and was always checking if we needed anything, I had a pollo pasta which is my all time pizza express favourite my daughter has dietary requirements and they were so careful and considerate towards this which put me at ease. The food was served hot and tasted lovely, I will definitely be returning for more meals and celebrations couldn’t fault them! The best pizza express I’ve ever been to Thankyou to the team at Caterham Pizza Express you made our experience great.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Despite the shortage of staff, the service was impeccable. The ambiance was inviting, and the restaurant was exceptionally clean and tidy. The food. It was absolutely delicious! Every dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavor, and presented beautifully. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. You won't be disappointed!

I ordered my food from Caterham that arrived stone cold. Called the restaurant for 30 mins. No answer. Used the online chat and told I would be contacted in 7-10 days. Paid a lot of money for inedible food. Very unhappy!!!!

Just ordered a collection for my daughters birthday, when we get there we was told they had given it away to a delivery driver in error. 40min later we were still waiting for. when we get it home we find they made the wrong pizza for my daughter, the order is missing dough balls and one pizza came with the baking tray attached. And as always noone answering the phone to resolve the issue. So no dinner for my daughters birthday

The staff are nice and helpful, the wait isn't long atall for the food it's the perfect place to bring children for a nice dinner.

Best waiter we ever had at Caterham branch Katie was her name if I'm not wrong she was super with us from start till end she made our visit so special always around checking if we needed anything.

Excellent service. Ordered a starter which came cold but Megan made sure we got another one the house which was much appreciated. Pizzas were delicious!

Went for daughter's 3rd birthday and the kind manager (Farouk- i think) let both kids put toppings on their pizzas with hats and aprons on. Service was fantastic - they even gave our daughter a birthday card! Food was good, but recommend for the family friendly service.

Booked a table for 8pm on a Tuesday night. Arrived at Caterham Pizza Express and were told by a very busy owner that food would not be served for at least 45 mins because they had too many delivery orders to deal with and only 3 staff serving. So people who were sitting in the restaurant had to wait in turn for their food to be made. Ridiculous system- they should have a dedicated team for dealing with deliveries. You make the effort to turn up to eat at a restaurant where you are not the priority- it’s a waste of time. And you wouldn’t know the situation until you get there so how do you know when they will be busy or not? Perhaps they should stop taking online table bookings when it is that busy. We decided not to add to their burdens- we didn’t mind the wait but the staff were so stressed out that we didn’t want to be in that kind of atmosphere all evening. We went to the Indian down the road instead and had a lovely meal. Sorry guys- we come here regularly and it’s not the first time we have had a poor experience, but this just felt like our custom was not valued.

We booked the restaurant before a theatre visit at the Miller Centre to get salads. My friend arrived first and mentioned to the waitress we needed to order swiftly. She acknowledged. I arrived and we sat for 5mins before I got the waitress attention and asked if we could order. She didn’t say yes/ no/ no problem, she just sort of “humphed”. Another 5 mins went by and we saw her serving others, preparing deserts and we asked again if we could order. She nodded. After another 5minutes went by and we gave up, left, and got snacks from Waitrose. If she needed 15mins to see to others first then at least acknowledge the customer and politely apologise but say there may be a wait so we could have tried another restaurant, rather than wait indefinitely. Disappointing as it was my first visit and I really wanted to like the place as Caterham doesn’t have many nice restaurants to chose from (excluding some nice Indian options) Maybe they need more staff on a Saturday evening.

Ridiculously overpriced. £50 for 2 tiny pizzas and 1 normal sized one, plus dough balls. Pizzas are tiny and in no way justify the price. Do not go here!

Every time and I don’t learn from my mistakes. Pizza just turned up via Deliveroo and it’s stone cold. Ridiculous. Will not order from there again. So bad. Such a shame as when you eat in at the restaurant, it’s lovely. Sort it out, please!!!

Ordered from this branch multiple times, cant make a pizza to save their life. Tried calling to speak to someone but they never answer the phone.

Too quiet for a Friday evening but service and food was good.

Me and my friend went to collect 2 desserts. First of all they hadnt even made it when it said ready for collection, but when they asked what we ordered they said they were out. we waited 15 minutes for 2 desserts. The brownie was stale the honeycomb cake thing wqs delicious.

I would like to mention waiter named Dharun, outstanding service very customer service focused. I came along with kids and he was very friendly with them. His presentation on desserts were amazing as well. 10/10 for Dharuns service

Ordered via Deliveroo and it arrived on time. Both Pizzas were really nice ( 1 needed a little bit of reheating in microwave, but all good. Chicken wings great too 👍👍👍

Came as a family of 3, gave us a table by the window so little one could look out the window. The food was great and service was very prompt but you still didn't feel they were on top of you as soon as you finished your meal. The roulade was lovely :)

Always a family favourite. You know what the food is going to be like. Good coffee as well. I have to say though, it is getting very expensive to eat it these days which is a shame. Meal for 2 adults and 2 kids was £120. Ouch.

Sat in Pizza express now, was waiting 10 minutes to be seated, was told that a table would be cleared for us and then were ignored until we chased the staff member. Seated and waiting to order for a further 15 minutes until again, we had to get their attention. Waiter did promise to make our order a priority as we had 2 young children with us - but in reality everyone else is also waiting. They are clearly understaffed, but this isn't the first time. The waiter was friendly and polite, which is why the review isn't a 2 star. Won't be rushing back, as they don't rush for you!

Went to pizza express Caterham, the lady that served us was great. But the food was below standards. Very basic. I think I could have made better at home. Made me really think about spending money going out. When the standards are so bad.

I'm not one to normally write a review but we were both super disappointed with tonight's takeaway. Food was nice as it normally is from pizza express. However, both pizzas and dough balls turned up cold. The dough balls were soggy as the sauce had been placed on them prior to being delivered. It would have been better to put the sauce in a separate container to avoid this. Really disappointed that for the best part of £45, the same as what we would have paid in the restaurant, we then received cold, mediocre food. And to only receive a £7 refund from deliveroo is a bit ridiculous.

Food was excellent 👌🏻.. the service was really good.. staffs were very welcoming. Manager was very accommodating to my child’s dietary. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Visited the restaurant tonight as was our local and it happened to be my birthday. Issues: got the pizza order wrong and took ages to replace - pizza that arrived was cold and dry. My partner's pizza had sparse toppings and overall cold. Advised the blonde manager (with glasses) about it and she was stone-faced, abrupt and unaccommodating. Proceeded to handing us cold shavings of goat's cheese to make right....really? Appeared very chatty to the delivery drivers as if to give you the impression that she hated the customer facing side of this business. Was erved a coffee with off milk but to be fair, we were then offered 2 free of charge by the waitress. Empty kitchen roll found beneath our table and anti-bacterial bottle left on neighbouring table. Compelled to leave tip for the sake of the other hard working staff. What's gone wrong Pizza Express Caterham? Why have you gone down hill and ruined our experience? I am afraid that you have lost my custom.

My wife and I go here every week. The service And pizzas are always great. We are totally boring and order the same thing every week but at least we know what to expect!! Although a common chain, this is a great example. Polite, friendly staff, very clean and a generally very positive atmosphere.

Impromptu lunch and had the tastiest La Reine pizza I've ever had at Pizza Express, beautifully cooked. Haven't been to this branch before but was really pleased with quality of food and service.

Our waitress Stesy was spot on, she came from the top end of the restaurant to show us to a table, after we were ignored by 3 other waitresses. She never made us feel rushed whilst taking our order even though it was very busy & she seemed to be the only one covering our large area. Tending to all the tables on her own. 10/10. A real asset. Well done. The food was below par not to the usual high standards - new chefs maybe???

I ordered from here via Deliveroo. After problems with the driver delivering the food. The restaurant promptly call me rectifying the issue and replacing my food. The staff are excellent and sorted the issue brilliantly! Thankyou to the staff for the cake for my daughter.

Dine here regularly it’s our local. Service has significantly dropped. Only issue before was the blonde waitress with pony tail and glasses who always had an attitude on her but otherwise nice place to eat. This has however gone down hill & appears to be a whole new team in place. Most recent visit saw us sending pizzas back due to being cold, numerous mistakes on the order and just overall naff vibe in the place. The manager is also questionable as she was very unapproachable and doesn’t put the customer first so overall very poor service all round to the point of not even leaving a tip & leaving annoyed as apposed to relaxed from a nice family meal out.

Avoid this place like the plague while current manager is in place. Most rude unprofessional person I have ever met, where did the old team go? We ordered an allergy order with the manager directly (egg and nut allergy), and then delivered us a pizza with an egg in the middle and everything was cold! When I called up about it she was laughing about the allergy issue with her colleagues and didn’t know we could hear her. No refund provided. She has ruined the Caterham pizza express, this used to be a nice local place to go to eat. I have still not been provided with a refund for this order. If someone from the restaurant is reading this please process this.

We always have a very good meal with attentive staff. We have been going for many years with and without children who are always well catered for. My only criticism is that it can be very noisy when very busy.

Nice pizza. I went there for a friends birthday party and there were about twelve of us there. The staff were very welcoming of us and kindly put some tables together. I had the crispy burnt ends pizza and it was delicious. There are many vegan and vegetarian options too as well as pasta.

I went here last week and the pizza 🍕 was absolutely awful my Daughter and I did not finish it it was if they cut a piece of flat cardboard and covered it in some kind of paint as it was disgusting tasteless and dry also you just want to relax and enjoy your experience as we’ve been doing so in any other PizzaExpress in London or Brighton or Eastbourne or Aberdeen…. Here the restaurant was empty and we felt we were being hurried to leave …never mind another time we will visit again

All staff that we encountered were friendly and down to earth. Food was lovely and dessert presentation was beautifully done.

Fabulous service - polite, fast and always on hand. We were a large group, containing 6 young children, and the staff went overboard to keep them happy. Oh, and the food was amazing. Highly recommended!

The attitiude of the blonde waitress was terrible. She was blunt, rude and it was clear that taking food orders and anyone asking a question was just annoying to her. I would avoid this pizza express until she is no longer working there!

Went today for early dinner with my elderly father and was appalled by the attitude of the waitress who was clearly having a bad day. She was blunt and rude from beginning to just before we paid. Suddenly she perked up and asked if everything was OK. The food was good but the management needs to train its staff to treat customers with respect. I was not happy so left no tip and when she came to clear the table, realising there was no tip left, she purposefully slapped the her hand on the tray really loudly to show her annoyance. Will not go back again with this kind of appalling service.

The staff evidently don’t know the service steps and need better/more training. The service left a lot to be desired but the food was fine, I probably would avoid this place in the future if it wasn’t one of the only sit down places in the Valley.

Love the food at Pizza Express as a chain overall and this restaurant generally boasts good food & quite good service too. I am not so keen on the inside of the restaurant as it feels too claustrophobic but considering there aren't many places in Caterham Valley to choose from when it comes to eating out (I guess that's not completely true - but if you visit the area I think you'll know what I mean) anyway I really enjoyed my visit in August 2021 with some friends and the food was spot on although there were quite a few things on the menu that weren't available because they were awaiting a delivery for the next day they said. Still it was enjoyable.

Relaxing atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff.

The food was standard Pizza Express, but good, well presented, and hot. The service was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Pizza Express often have money-off vouchers, which we had, so the evening was very enjoyable, and not too expensive.

We have eaten at Pizza Express in Caterham several times before and always enjoyed the experience, which is why we chose to go there today as a family group of ten. Although we had booked some time before, our table wasn't ready when we arrived, even though the place wasn't busy. The waitress suggested we could manage at separate tables and was very reluctant to rearrange things - which she grudgingly did. Throughout the meal, the same waitress showed complete disinterest and made little attempt to cater for our needs, such as taking orders for drinks. When it to ordering puddings, she seemed disappointed that we wanted to stay. I hope that a manager from Pizza Express reads this and takes appropriate action. As another reviewer has pointed out, after months of lockdown and all the problems faced by the restaurant trade, you would think that staff would be a bit more welcoming, polite and helpful.

We ate here Wednesday early evening with our family. Good food and very friendly staff as usual. The children always enjoy their food here. Good atmosphere.

I understand the rules of wearing a mask But on Sunday sometimes we forget to get one and when you are with a family you don’t tell someone to go a get a mask , you get them one as you are a large business so it’s always good for business to have them on sight It’s the second time that I ma told even after booking in to go away for not having a mask Which is ok like I said I understand the rules But honestly the other guy which was sitting and having his drink and waiting for food I assume was about 2meters away And hi didn’t have a mask so For 6 years going there on Sunday and getting this type of service hmmm not very impressed Actually not happy at all

Having not visited Pizza Express for probably 18 months because of the pandemic, we were very disappointed to find the staff at Caterham neither particularly welcoming nor friendly. Nobody was rude, but it was all very matter of fact. Pizza Express restaurants have a reputation for being very noisy venues, possibly because of all the hard surfaces (ask anyone and they'll agree you can't usually hear yourself think) but we know that, so it's our choice to go there or not. This doesn't help conversations with the waiting staff, but my recollection is they're typically friendly/chatty and helpful. Our experience on Saturday 5th June was not like this at all. For us, a restaurant is not somewhere we go only to eat and leave - that's what the fast-food outlets are for. For us it's a destination, somewhere to relax and to enjoy good food and drink with your friends or family. But, if the staff isn't interested in our spending time and, as a consequence, more money in their restaurant, then why should we be? Given how long restaurants have been closed because of the pandemic, I would have thought it would be the highest possible priority for every restaurant/hospitality venue owner/manager to ensure its staff is delivering the best possible customer experience to make the customers feel like they've been missed and are welcomed back so they want to return. As Pizza Express Caterham doesn't appear to have that mindset, there are plenty of other venues locally who have (such as the excellent Bell Inn in Godstone), so it's extremely unlikely we'll be returning to Pizza Express.

Terrible service and poor communication!Popped in for a drink and my daughter ordered Raspberry sparkle drink which as stated on the menu says : goes with lemon and mint. The drink came in a 250ml bottle and without lemon or mint. When asked the waitress why the drink does not contain the ingredients as it's stated on the menu, she simply replied that "due to the lockdown they have no mint nor lemon.". I have then asked why it was not communicated properly as we could have chosen another drink instead. The waitress still carried on saying that "all Pizza Express shops do not have them". I understand that they do not have them, but communication is the key and it is not an excuse to say that "all the shops doing the same thing". I was absolutely shocked by this! When I offered to pay by cash, the waitress abruptly said "I don't have change", although I clearly heard the coins jingling." Waitress needs to learn manners and speak properly, very disappointed!

Went to pizza express after a while due to lockdown and were reassured by the friendliness of the staff. Especially our waitress for the evening, (long blonde hair, glasses and a black face mask) who was very natural and welcoming; just what was needed! Thank you!

Made a booking over the phone only to arrive and be told they didnt have it. They found us a table eventually and we were seated promptly. Had to ask for menus, and to order and was advised at the time of ordering that there was no pasta and no kids juices apart from squash. This should have been brought to our attention when seated. When the bill came, we were charged for the squash and the waitress said it wasnt included in the kids meal offer (but should have been as the kids juices were unavailable). Reluctantly she took it off. Really dissappointing visit - they cant cope with the eat out to help out offer. Wont be returning.

Great food and friendly service. Tried the new garlic prawn starter and penne bolognese. Would definitely visit again.

Starters were quick to arrive but our mains were accidentally given to another table. Instead of communicating to us that there would be a delay we just sat there waiting for 40 minutes. When the food arrived, one pizza was tough like it was sitting under a heater and we returned it. Eventually got our meal 1 hour after starters. I felt bad for some of the staff as they were clearly understaffed. Usually good food and service though but younger staff need to be trained to smile, communicate and make your customers feel welcomed.
