Disgusting, Cutlery dirty, plates dirty, hair in food. Ask for table To be cleaned and staff wasn’t impressed Staff just chat don’t ask if you’re ok. Place was filthy. Walked Out. Made us feel sick!!!! 🤢

Went this lunchtime 2 young girls waitressing not quite up with our orders but one girl just came with food put it down in front of my friend not even asking if that’s what she ordered then walked away The one who served us all the time was very friendly and did smile

We ate here with our toddler one afternoon in September. We had plain and cheesy dough balls to start. Then we had mushroom, rectangular and a child's pepperoni pizza. We finished with chocolate cake and brownie. It was all good, but there were lots of things on the menu including drinks that weren't available, so we had to change a lot of our choices.

Antony our waiter was amazing. His nature was soft yet professional, his attention to our needs was 100%. Food was also lovely but Antony really made it for us. Keep up the good work x

Food was average but our waiter Anthony was so nice and accommodating. Very respectful of the family and an all round nice young man.

This has to be one of the worse Pizza Express' I have ever visited. The service is appalling and the wait for the food is unacceptable. I opted for an al forno meal which was also below par from what you would normally expect from this chain. Normally the food in Pizza Express is good but it has to be said that this branch is extremely poor. Won't be visiting again.

Pizza Hut Express Lakeside shopping centre - Had a great meal - excellent service and food hot - would highly recommend.

Went to Pizza Express tonight for a quick dinner whilst at Lakeside Shopping. We was greeted by a lovely young chap called Anthony, who throughout our meal was very friendly and attentive, even though it was busy. The food was lovely, but the service was outstanding. Working in hospitality and catering myself, I can say I was thoroughly impressed.

We visited at lunch time whilst shopping, we was attracted by the £10.95 deal for 2 courses. Greeted straight away and seated - so far so good, had a look at the menu and ordered, however this is where the downside comes! The menu was not made clear to us what type of pizza we can order as there are different types. We were told we could order anything from the menu. We also ordered halloumi bites which tasted absolutely awful!! The waiting team looked miserable and failed to crack a smile at all, we were given our bill by an older gentleman, in which i pointed out that they were trying to overcharge us - he said one word and asked if we were paying with card - clearly trying to get us out as soon he could! The halloumi bites were not taken off the bill despite complaining and not touching them, we were not looked after whilst eating our food, we had to try and make eye contact to get the slightest bit of attention!! And when we did get attention, he said “what” to us!! LIKE HOW RUDE DO YOU WANT TO BE!! Would be nice if we could be fully refunded for our meals as were were extremely disappointed and i’m now feeling a bit queasy after we left. Very disappointing and we will not be returning to any pizza express any time soon. We won’t be telling any of our friends or family to visit!!!

Came here on a Saturday around 6pm and it was very busy but managed to be seated immediately as there were only 2 of us. The waitress we had did seem to be serving a large part of the restaurant so was sometimes delayed in coming to us, however she was friendly. There is currently a weekend set menu which is a very good price for 3 courses and the choice on the menu is good. Sometimes I think this restaurant is lacking attentive staff but majority work hard and food was very nice.

Pizza base was extremely soggy. Each Pizza Express branch is hit and miss. There is not much consistency in the standard. Unfortunately the extremely wet and soggy bottom was a big fail when visiting today. Small wait on being greeted but otherwise service wasn’t bad - it was very busy.

Visited the Lakeside restaurant for lunch with my family. Was seated, however, waited 30 minutes to be served a drink. Service throughout was very poor. Continually having to attract the waitresses attention for a drink, the salt (not on the table), mozzarella cheese, the bill etc. Food was also very poor. Pizzas were undercooked despite requesting crispy & had to be returned. I requested the new Bolognese at £12.95. The ingredients for this must have cost Pizza Express less than £1.00 & was the most horrible meal. Overcooked pasta & very little sauce. Service poor, meals poor, management & staff very poor, quality very poor & prices for everything especially drinks very expensive. Finally was presented was presented with a bill for over £100.00 which was incorrect in Pizza Express's favour. A tip was expected by the waitress which she did not get. When things are this bad a tip cannot be expected. In all an absolutely dreadful experience. Management & staff - this is a wake up call.

We went at a very busy time - weekend lunch betw. Xmas and NY - with 3 young kids and 2 senior family members, and found this place accomodated all of us beautifully. We got a nice quiet table put together for all of us to one side, and the kids got their drawing kits and the little one a high chair. The food was good or great for all of us. I had the Superfood salad which was ample and really very tasty. As a vegetarian I get thru a fair amount of salads and unfortunately quite a lot of places are unimaginative when it comes to salads - not this one. Superfoods - yes! Herbs, some whole grains, green leaves, spinach and the sauce was great too. Very flavoursome and lots of it so I was not left hungry. Now I absolutely love Pizza Express pizza - the very thin crust is my favourite - and myhusband had that, as did a couple of other adults. Naturaldly I had to try - VERY NICE. (I went for salad after indulging madly over Xmas.) Pizza Express is in my opinion a nice reliable 'pleases everybody' option for young and old - the place was clean and the service attentive, and you can't really ask much more than that of a chain restaurant.

Had lunch here on a Friday. Very busy but we didn’t have to wait for table. I had the superfood salad which was very good and surprisingly filling. Packed with really good stuff -cucumbers, spinach, rocket, roasted sweet peppers. Even chickpeas which I only like in humus tasted okay so I ate them. Had chicken breast. I think I remember when they started doing this salad and you could get it with salmon. I sure do hope they’ll bring this back. Good service despite being busy. £9.50 in Tesco club card vouchers got us £28.50 to spend which was more than enough to cover our food (can’t be used on drinks) but was excellent value for money.

Visited after a shopping expedition and was shocked at the price of alcoholic drinks, the food was just about acceptable, I spotted my pizza on the counter for at least five minutes before it was served. Definitely will not return

We popped in for lunch it was quite busy and we waited about 10 minutes before I finally caught someone’s attention and asked if we could order, they said they would get someone! 5 minutes later a girl arrived, it was painful we had to tell her two or three times everything we wanted to order, dough balls! yes doughballs please, so that’s doughballs... yes please! That went on with everything we asked for, I’m new she kept saying but is not rocket science, it’s a pizza order, anyway we finally thought she’d got it and she left only to return to double check our order that we gone over three or four times, she d still got it wrong I asked her to please send someone over who could take our order properly, we sat there for another 5 minutes before deciding to get up and leave. We made the right decision and ate elsewhere.

Visited on a Wednesday lunchtime, restaurant got quite busy soon after we arrived but service was efficient & friendly. For starters we had the lemon & herb chicken wings & arabiata prawns. The wings didn’t really rock my boat being slightly bland and maybe a little undercooked? My partner enjoyed her prawns which came with dough balls but said it was quite spicy. For mains we had a pasta penne dish & pizza with salad in the middle. My pasta again was rather bland & although my other half enjoyed her pizza we both observed that the presentation of the dishes was quite sloppy, just slapped on the plate. Not bad value wise with a taste card but I would have been disappointed to pay the full price for what we had. Much prefer their Brentwood branch.

Visited here and requested gluten free doll balls x 2 1 gluten free margarita with extra cheese and a salad.

Now let me start by saying I am not a huge fan of Pizza Express, in fact, I had not stepping into one for a few years due to a bad experience in one where I was taken ill after the food eaten so it taken me a lot of courage to give Pizza Express another go when I have done for the last six months and so far my experiences have been positive until last week.

Pizza was okay, for a pizza chain restaurant in a busy regional shopping centre.

Staff did not want to be there. Food lacking in care and quality and slapped on the plate as if it had just fallen from the heavens above. I use to find this chain fantastic until I went to the pit of lakeside will never ever go in this restaurant again at lakeside.

Came in for a quick lunch.....got lunch. Food was great service was friendly, what ruined it was the very long wait to be served and get the bill! Bathrooms were a bit of mess as well. Solid 3 stars.

Some of pizzas are excellent. Try the more unusual ones. The service is generally good, however, the best and most friendly service is by a guy called Liam. He really ensures customers enjoy their visit whatever the occasion and even if the food isn't 100% right.

Booked a table and received fantastic service from front of house and our server. Just a shame that both our pizzas were burnt. I had a leggera which has the hole in the middle. And the edges of the hole was burnt to a crisp which left a bitter taste. My sons pizza was also burnt. I didn't bother complaining and I would return to give it another chance.

Meal deals are great value, small pizza chips and a drink. The chips are fantastic. Service is very quick although the person behind the counter didn't seem too sure what they were doing. We were given money off vouchers that had expired in May.

Comfortable modern restaurant. Very clean and tidy. The food is very good, and quick. Just what you want when you are busy shopping. Although there are conveniences very close by, this restaurant even has a disabled usable toilet. Can't wait for my next visit.

Never again visit this place. The pizzas are so oily that you can't even eat. Service is terrible. The waiter just doesn't care about you and your food. Is that customer service you are providing? Mention to waiter about the pizzas so the only thing...

Good fast service and excellent food, as you expect from Pizza Express. Entrees were served as ordered. Very attentive staff.

My worst ever experience of pizza express with family of 3 on Saturday evening and the staff brought on table main course first and said there is delay in starters we will serve when they are ready. Very rude and unhelpful. Upon that I said pick the pizza up from table. Get the starters first then the main course. Made us wait 45 minutes for starters and finally the manager comes and says sorry we are unable to cope with the pressure today. I think if a restaurant with such a high street brand of pizza express unable to cope a Saturday evening, then there shouldn't be something called express. It's pizza in distress. Clearly manager lost the game was unable to cope and staff are extremely rude and feel like they can treat you the way they want once you are in.... oops sorry you loose the customer forever.......never again a pizza in distress ....!!!!!!

We decided to go to pizza express prior to watching a film. We ordered the garlic bread and antipasti, these were tasty, but then..... we ordered the pepperoni pizza and seafood pasta, we were flabbergasted when we saw that the pasta was burnt, and when I say it was burnt it was literally hard, black and bitter in taste. One of the waitresses came over and we politely said that it was burnt, she was very argumentative and said no it's not, that is how it is, she said that is how it is cooked, in a manner that she was trying to say, deal with it. She then took it away and proceeded to go back to the kitchen staff, I could not hear what she said, but I could see all the kitchen staff congregate to my bowl of pasta, they then all looked up and stared over at me. I felt so embarrassed.Within 2 minutes the pasta was brought back, and guess what it was burnt again, I think it was the original pasta, the waitress then said in a very sarcastic way Madame that is how it is, that is how we cook it. We asked for the manager who did come over, he said the main manager was off, but to be honest he didn't seem to really care.We didn't eat anything, but the manager said I won't charge you, (what was he going to charge us for?) but he bought the bill over for our 2 diet cokes...... really. We paid for the drinks and swiftly left.Trust us don't go it is awful.

I've been to many PizzaExpress restaurants over the years and I think the main reason for going back time and time again is the great menu and quality of the food. Have to say the service here is excellent as well. And it's always great to use a 2 for 1 offer as well in order to make the meal feel even better value. About 4 times now here and every time top notch. Great pizzas. No surprises. Pleasant and less loud than the rest of the food court at Lakeside shopping centre.

This is the best Pizza Express I've been too and the best place to eat in Lakeside. One of the reasons is the excellent service received from Liam. Most other staff are good as well, but a couple provide inadequate service. The food is usually excellent, but the dough balls and starters aren't as good as the main meals. Avoid the dessert as they are average and overpriced.

Popped in after a brief shopping trip, first time I've been in this particular branch.The service was brisk and friendly, dough balls were tasty, american classic pizza perhaps a little on the oily side but tasty enough. My partner had bruschetta followed by american hot pizza with salad in the middle and enjoyed both dishes. Very good value with a taste card.

we walked in and waiter took two menus and just walked over to table not a word .had baby with us no mention would you need a high chair.then a waitress asked what drinks we wanted and we had to.ask.for high chair.starters we had Antipasto it was nice .both had salads for mains.wish we.had remembred to.ask for dressing on.side ..as salad was drenched in it.Bosco salad.Superfood salad.we had as extra chicken and salmon.we only had water with lunch.food was ok.we had taste card so it was reasonable lunch.without taste card would have been 42pounds .and it defineltley not worth that amout.i.would go again.but no.rush.

Visited on a whim late Saturday afternoon after shopping. We were quickly seated and our order was taken in good time despite a busy restaurant.All dishes were cooked well, you know what you’re getting in Pizza Express.The only complaint was that the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted another drink when our glasses were empty and no table check was carried out.

Popped in here for lunch last month while doing a bit or post Christmas shopping. Had booked which was result as very busy. Friendly service and Diavola Pizza always delivers. Good for a chain pizza restaurant.

We were headed towards Nando's when we decided that we were going to head in for pizza instead, as generally the food is much nicer in Pizza Express in comparison to Nando's and I quite fancied a prosecco too...Were sat down buy a waiter who was a little disinterested to be there, it was December and everyone was Christmas shopping, so I can only imagine the hours that they can be working there, he was just doing his job taking our drinks order, and I decided to involve him, I simply asked if I should have Peroni or Prosecco, he seemed a little shocked that i would ask this, but he recommended the Peroni over the prosecco so thats what I had. He seemed to like that I had asked so I too was happy, as he was leaving, I did ask for some water also.This is when the moment went from a 10 to a 6. He walked over holding a plastic jug I assumed he was going to fill my little blue glass up with, but he didn't, he placed it in the middle of the table and smiled as he walked away. This jug, looked like something my mum left with the kids outside in 1995. I just, don't understand what happened. It ruined the whole look of the table, nice wine glasses, blue water glasses, and then this horrific jug. The water of which was in it, was fine, but I couldn't take my eyes off it, I found it horrendous.ANYWAY, the food was outstanding, I had my usual Romana Pizza and dough balls as a side, my friends had pasta and another pizza dish, of which all were amazing, the waiter was attentive to our needs and did a fabulous job. We wanted to stay for desserts but we were just too full! And the sight of the jug on the table was distracting me also.Please, buy some nice water carafes, just to help with the aesthetics!!!

Great service and food although service can be slow sometimes. Last visit service was alright for starters and drinks but took forever for mains to come. Facilities are standard (baby change etc.). But all in all had a good Lunch.

We enjoyed our meals here but were asked to move seats during our starter due to a large booking needing more table space which was a little inconvenient. Other than the that we enjoyed our experience and would probably come back

My husband and i came here after a few hours shopping. we were met by a young man who we didn't realise worked there as no uniform, he was very blunt and showed us to a table, no talking from him or asked if we wanted a drink, just walked off. The next waiter was great, i recognised him from another restaurant down the broadwalk, he told us about the different pizzas and dishes, we had the dough balls (which are amazing by the way) and both had a lovely pizza each. I would go back as its a nice place with good food.

Decided to go for pizza last night so chose Pizza Express as the pizzas and service are usually very good. It was packed (about 5.30pm) and so a little wait for a table. The water and service time Wass good however the pizzas weren't up to the usual standard. The sloppy Giuseppe was good. The two legerra pizzas were both unusually soggy and one had less toppings than usual. It's the first time I've been here that they have been like this, and hopefully just a case of being so busy. They weren't terrible but not their usual standard. It's usually excellent.

Food was average and at the price they charge you would expect much better. It is a very expensive for average pizzas I wouldn't recommend

We stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. We were extremely impressed at the really efficient, quick service from start to finish, despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy. Our food was extremely good and our waiter, Arnol Cruz, was very friendly and a great guy. We used a voucher code for a starter and main course for £10.95 per person which was great value. We dine at many different Pizza Express restaurants and the service here was the most efficient ever experienced. Very happy customers!

Myself and my girlfriend ordered a fiorentina pizza plus some extra mozzarella each - and it was really, really good! We ordered some of the elements cooked differently on each pizza and our host made sure that our pizzas were just to our liking. Arnel Cruz our waiter for the day was brilliant. Always so friendly and attentive. It's the conjunction of great hosting and delicious food that keeps us coming back!

Food was ok, but we were not asked how we would like the egg cooked on the Fiorentina Pizza (they always ask in the Southend branch). Horrified to see the massive amount of dust above our table on the pillar! Great clumps of it! Needs a good clean. Not much atmosphere either as based in Lakeside Food Court. There are better, cleaner Pizza Express restaurants.

My husband and I had no daughter so we had a nice relaxing meal in Pizza Express. Not exactly romantic but it was a lovely meal with great customer service.

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and I was disappointed with the service and the food. I was sat down and the table was sticky and quite clearly not cleaned properly. The waiter took ages to come back to take the order as well as taking ages to bring us the check as well as coming across that he wasn't really bothered. The food was also really poor and tasted very bland as well as the corn maze chips being soggy. Would not go back again.

Went here with 2 friends and was disappointed to begin with to see that the carbonara pizza had been taken off the menu. As I was mentioning this to my friends the waiter overheard and told me that if that's the pizza I wanted, then the chef can still make it for me albeit that the prosciutto would be replaced by bacon which didn't bother me! This was such a lovely thing for the restaurant to do as although they may have the ingredients they certainly don't have to offer what's not on the menu! And as always the meal was delicious - very impressed.

I went here a few months ago and purchased a meat feast pizza. Loved it, I've only been here once but I would definatly recommend to anyone who loves pizza!

I visited while staying with friends in Purfleet. Lakeside is easy to get to and good parking. We had a lovely helpful guy serve us. Good selection of pizzas to suit every taste.

Food was good, shame they don't accept Taste card anymore but then again 2 courses for £10. That is a steal. Service was good and dough balls were the best thing.

This is definitely worth a visit as it's fast and very efficient. Clean and very speedy service. Out of the way of the crowds in noisy lakeside food court area means you're actually in a restaurant rather than a noisy canteen type eatery. If I am going to pay restaurant prices I expect a little bit more than a bench beside a sticky table in what resembles a school canteen. This restaurant is nicely lit with no overcrowding issues like some of the other branches I've visited. The young man serving was very good. Friendly and 100% efficient and the dough balls were fantastic. In fact the dough balls were the only fantastic thing about the entire trip to Lakeside which is a bit sad to be honest. However top marks to Pizza express and should we decide to return to lakeside again I would certainly revisit.

We visited with friends for a birthday celebration and it was fun. Glad we booked as it was very busy as it was Valentines day. Staff friendly. Love the calabrese Pizza. The prosecco could have been colder and it was a little flat. The calamari was described as crisp on the menu - it was rather soggy. Risotto was declared good. Service prompt.

Visited here with fiancée and Mother-in-Law for lunch and again we were not disappointed. 2 dough ball starters (a must have) 3 pizzas, 3 desserts and 3 bottles of water for £66. So really not a bad price.The pizzas were delicious as were the desserts so have little to complain about. The service from Liam was outstanding who was polite and friendly and worked extremely hard. Service was steady and we were not rushed so could have a relaxing lunch.Now the downside.......the floor and seats where we sat we not clean. There were crumbs and bits of food and a crayon. I understand that if it's busy it's not always possible to keep on top of the cleanliness but it was a Tuesday lunchtime at 1200 so its not really an excuse. That is the only downside of an otherwise lovely meal.Out thanks once again go Liam.Would I visit this branch again? Of course. So far I have never had a bad meal or service from Pizza Express and I hope this may long continue.I only gave a 4 rating because of the cleanliness.

Went in with family for lunch, took ages for 3 adult and 2 kids pizzas to arrive. About 30mins. Taste was quite good though. Then ordered an Irish coffee and got a cappuccino with whisky in it! She apologised and said she had not made one before and the manager showed her how! 20 mins later I got! Thankfully I was told i would not have to pay for it. All in all, I prob would not go to that branch again.

Good chain, but still prefer Zizzi. Service was a little slow and it wasn't that busy. Could also do with dimming the lights to create more of an atmosphere.However the steak pizza was fab!Prosecco a little over priced.

I visited here with my daughter for lunch, food was average and the service very slow, although the resturant was very busy, The air conditioning seemed to be on full blast which made the resturant very cold, we asked if it could be turned down but were told no sorry!! I would not return to this particular pizza express again.

Popped into Pizza Express for lunch it took a while to take our order and then we waited over 45 mins for our salads to come.Salads arrived with no apology for the wait. We had a Bosco salad which is mushrooms and avocado and was very tasty, and also a Pollo salad which is Chicke and goats cheese which again was really very tasty.We couldn't understand why it took so long, it wasn't busy and ours didn't even need to be cooked!All we could think was lack of staff only 3 waitresses and they were running around and were good really.Paid bill as quickly as we could but didn't leave a tip due to poor service.Won't be going back.

Food was good. Been to a fair few pizza express restaurants and the food was very good. Staff are really friendly but a bit confused. A few mistakes on the bill and took time to bring our side dish out. Still good and would go again. Just need to keep our wits about us ;-)

Arrived, no-one greeted us so we walked in unsure on how the venue worked, when someone came over and tried to offer us a table but they were all dirty!!! She quickly ushered us to a table and handed us menus. A waitress came over straight away and asked if we wanted drinks but we had only just sat and hadn't even looked at the menu, no introduction or welcome. We studied the menu, choose what we wanted and waited and waited and waited. The waitress eventually came back and took our order but when it came out it was wrong. The food was ok but totally overpriced. There were no condiments on out table! The menus were sticky and the table needed a wipe. Not wanting to cause a stir, i didn't bother to complain. Staff didn't seem at all interested in the customers and what would I have achieved? Worried what would have happened to my dinner! We ate and left. Never to go back. And it has made us question the chain...

Celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary/my birthday with a meal here after shopping and hotel . Emma our waitress was so lovely and helpful and" went out of her way to make our meal special.Although it was a quiet time the experience was very enjoyable. The food was cooked fresh/delivered hot and very tasty.Graham who took over as Emma left her shift was just as nice.Thankyou so much -will certainly recommend .

The restaurant was busy lunchtime .The starters and pizzas we had were good .We will certainly visit next time but will try to avoid the I pm slot esp on Saturdays

Said there would be a 45 minute wait but only took , 15 minutes. Ordered 3 pizzas which were fresh and really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful said what it does on the box!

Went as a family of 5 for a celebratory meal for my daughters GCSE results. When we were seated there were dough balls and salad and rubbish under the table and sauce over the table. When we asked the waitress to wipe over the table again she began arguing with us that the table was clean and we had to prove to her that it wasn't. It was only after she stuck her finger in the sauce - that she believed us. Her attitude then changed and she was very curt and unfriendly. It felt so uncomfortable my daughter asked if we could leave. I asked for a jug of water like everyone else on the tables around us with ice and lemon. When ours arrived - we got a glass of water each and no jug. 2 of our party got the wrong drinks. It felt as though we were being punished for asking that the table be cleaned off. When the wrong drinks arrived we didn't want to complain with fear of getting an unfriendly response again. The food was ok, nothing special. It just felt she wanted to get rid of us, she hardly spoke and when the other four had finished eating she removed everyone's plates from the table while I was still eating...my daughter said 'mum I think she wants to get rid of us, aren't you meant to wait till everyone has finished!' The moment my fork hit my plate, my plate was gone. And immediately she asked if we wanted anything else. It just felt awkward and uncomfortable and put a dampener on my daughters special evening. We certainly won't be returning. The food was just average and this unfriendly waitress has certainly put us off from ever returning to this pizza express.

So after a long day at work I take my girlfreind shopping with that we go for a meal after, We choose Pizza Express as it looks clean and well presented but I can honestly say I was not impressed after standing on the doorway waiting to be served by a member of staff for 20 minutes we were placed at the back of the resturant to be waited on by a lady who looked like ahe didnt even want to work there!! We ordered a 3 course meal and spent £60 and I will compliment the food as this was fabulous. I have honestly had better service from Macdonalds after we finished we didnt even have to ask for the bill as this was already printed ! How did she know I was`nt going to order another drink.Anyway we where rushed out of the door with no reciept that should have been given to me as I requested this.Will not eat here again.

It happen for the second time to have same excellent costumer service( 5 out of 5). The food was grate, little bit overcrowded at the second time, I think because of the weekend and busy.Still I recommend you to go there.

Despite some bad reviews, it seems this branch may be getting better? My pizza was fantastic and my sister in law's salad was very good and a nice big portion too. Service was very fast and friendly. Great lunch!

Popped in here with my boyfriend for a quick bite to eat and was absolutely blown away by my delicious pizza, as was my boyfriend. The pizza base was crisp and perfectly cooked - far from soggy (as I have come to expect from UK pizzas), the salad was fresh and the service was swift and friendly. Without a doubt this was the best pizza either of us has eaten within the past 2 years at least...

My wife and i had a very nice meal here.The pizza's were really nice although i thought a little stingey with the toppings.Also i had the Panna Cotta for desert which was nice but needs more than half a strawberry to accompany it! My wife had an Eton Mess type thing which came out still frozen solid!The waitress, who had been very friendly and cheerful throughout, was very apologetic and she took the price off the bill.Despite this, we would certainly come back again.

Me and my friend went here last night for a girlie catch up. I'm not a big fan of pizza express as I don't like the menu to much, but as I had a voucher we thought we would give it a go. The waiter was very nice and friendly. Even though it was his first day he was still very helpful. The food was brought out at a reasonable time and was still hot. However my best friends pizza was burnt in places. Mine on the other hand was perfect! The desert was delicious and I would happily eat it again. I had the honeycomb desert.The restaurant was due to close at 10pm, and they still happily let us order desert at 9:45, and they didn't make us fee pressured to leave. I'll be more open to go to pizza express in the future, however there still wouldn't be much food that I would choose from.

The service was a little bit grumpy but I am completely overlooking that as the Pollo Pesto was one of the best meals I have ever had in a restaraunt. I have had the same dish in various other Pizza Express chains but this was something else. Lovely!

We like Pizza Express elsewhere. With two kids 11 and 6 its predictable, consistent, sharpened pencils with the kids pack (dont knock it) and normally good service and food. We arrived, no one to greet, started to find our own table, then I saw a waitress, I said "Hello" she looked around said "table for 4?" I then waved and said "hello" again - she didn't get it. We sat and ordered - all fine until pasta came for my wife and 6 year old. It was burnt and blackened, even I dont burn pasta. i asked for manageress, I told her I dont want money off, I dont want another dish as kids were getting tired (we were returning from Chessington) I just wanted her to know that the kitchen was serving rubbish burnt pasta. Very apologetic and insisted taking the cost off.Really disappointing. Wish I had chosen Nandos.

Visited pizza express at lakeside what a farce .The kids had a set menu which was ok until they got their desserts where they had to share a plate because they had ran out of plates . Did the washing up person do a runner ? Then the kids never got their babychinos which comes with their desserts which they love ,no explanation as to why until we asked the waitress, guess what they ran out of cups. A huge company such as this needs a major stock overhaul .......

I can only confirm what some of the other negative reviews on here have said. We arrived for what should have been a pleasant family lunch only to be told they had run out of pasta AND salad because they had been busy the previous day. Honestly, what sort of company worth it's salt allows this to happen? The tables are also too close to the preparation area, meaning you can enjoy the sound of the coffee machine and clattering plates and cutlery in your ear throughout your meal. Definitely the worst Pizza Express I have ever visited. A first and last visit. Advise others not to have a first.

Arrived at 8:30 and was informed that they had just had a whole raft of people leave, and that service might be slow. I said fine. Starters arrived ok. On the mains, the salad arrived and the pizza ordered had been missed out. Waiter angrily look the salad away without warning. Manager apologized and said starter was on the house. I said ok. Pizza arrived and it was a Leggara. I told the waiter I wanted a classic one. He made a frustrated face. Manager came and apologised again and said she would void the bill. As we were leaving she apologised again. Lovely lady, not her fault. Waiter was quite rude though.I didn't bother ordering dessert - no telling what mess they would have made!Pizza Express food quality has dropped rock bottom now. It used to be a favourite, but now I'd rather go to Dominos. The new aubergine based starter is no more than tomato paste layered with aubergine and cheese. Really disappointed with the brand now, since it got bought over. Sorry to say, but I won't be going to another Pizza Express again.

Tasty food, relatively quick service. Polite and helpful, they did get our order wrong but were very quick to remedy it, and let us have the wrong food for nothing. They didn't charge us for the corrections either. Very helpful staff and will visit again.

We arrived 9.30pm (30 minutes before closing), after seeing a film. We just wanted a quick pizza and a drink. The server didn't see us for quite a while, and then placed us at a small table between the till and a toddler seat. She asked us if we wanted a drink before we had even taken our coats off, and so we asked to see the menu first. She gave us the menu, and disappeared to the other side of the restaurant where she started stacking chairs on top of tables. This is a really bad thing to do while there are still customers present, because it gives the impression that you are just waiting for them to leave. (There were two other tables of customers, one quite a large group). We decided quite quickly what we wanted and knew there wasn't much time, so my husband went and got the attention of the server - she couldn't see us from where she was stacking chairs. However, she went to one of the other tables and cleared some plates, saying to us (over her shoulder) that she wouldn't be long as she disappeared into the kitchen. A couple of minutes later she reappeared, but one of the other tables wanted to place an order and so she went to them first. At that point we gave up and left - we could just tell that we weren't going to have a good experience.I don't know what the problem was here - short staffing, or pressure to finish up, but there was no doubt in our minds that she was being deliberately awkward. Her focus seemed to be only on packing up and closing, not on the tables of customers still present. We also felt it was inconsiderate to the two chefs - if she delayed taking our order, she also delayed them clearing up since ours would probably have been their last order. We went to another restaurant and had a lovely meal, staying without problem (and with no signs of packing up) until their closing time at 10.30.

Came here after seeing a film. Restaurant wasn't overly busy. We had booked so got seated quickly, however, I think it was understaffed and service was very slow to take our orders.When food arrived one salad, which should have had mozzarella, mushrooms and tomatoes in had almost no mozzarella and no tomatoes. When we needed a server we had to get up from the table and find one.My plate was dirty underneath (no idea what the upper side was like)!!!!The food was ok but the service was abysmal. It was getting late (because service was so slow) and the servers seemed more concerned with cleaning up to go home rather than serving the few customers who were left in the restaurant.I think this has put me off Pizza Express. I certainly wouldn't come to this one again. In fact, if I hadn't have had Tesco vouchers especially to come here I would have walked out!

We ate here after doing some shopping at lakeside, the restaurant was quiet and we was seated straightaway. The server was helpful and our food was brought out quickly, the pizzas and dough balls were fantastic! A great meal and my son loved the colouring packs.

My wife and i had a meal here last night and i have to say it was lovely.We were seated quickly and did not have to wait long for service. The waiter was freindly and efficient the food was fantastic as we have come to expect from Pizza Express. I really like the new vanilla Panne Cotta desert, that was yum. All in all a great experience especially as it was a buy one get one free pizza deal so decent value really. We will be back for more soon (hopefully).

Visited yesterday, it seemed they were extremely understaffed and only one pizza chef we waited over half an hour for food, the waitress was friendly and nice though and wasn't her fault.I ordered an Aperol spritz, which they have aperol on the menu and prosecco, I waited for around 20-25 minutes for my drink it never arrived.. so i cancelled it, next minute later the waitress asked the manager how to make it, not knowing it was actually for me at the table behind where they were chatting ... he basically said that aperol spritz was a christmas special and that its not christmas anymore and slagged my drink of choice off... i'm Italian, in every italian restaurant they serve aperol spritz seeings as it's Italy's number 1 drink and both ingredients were on the menu I didn't think this would be a problem, after hearing his rude comments about my drink choice it wasn't a great dinner.However despite the long long wait for food, the no show of the drink and the slagging off of my drink choice it was ok...I won't be returning to this particular pizza express.

Despite a full house, this branch still managed to delivered 3 pizzas in 20 minutesService was polite & the Pianta (non-cheese pizza tastetTypicall PE, still the pricing is exceeding the ingredients+coverage by some way

I must start by saying 3 days a go I was at my local pizza express, had a beautiful meal and great service. Thoroughly enjoyed myself pizza so when I was there tonight I decided to order it again. I ordered an Emilia which is a pretty new pizza. On the menu it say Chesnut mushroom, garlic base, goats cheese and rocket. The first pizza I got was that. Only the mushrooms were not cooked at all or even warm (looked suiciously un Chesnut like but we will let that slide). I sent that back to the kitchen. The second pizza came and much to my surprise was covered in lettuce. Wet hot soggy lettuce over my pizza. The pizza itself also had big lumps of he garlic base in patches of lumps of goasts cheese which didn't even look melted. I attempted to try to eat it, I swear I did, but I couldn't. Eventually the waiter came and offered me another pizza. Not wanted to put any pressure on the kitchen staff anymore I went for a margarita. Somehow they managed to serve it to emerge uncooked. The base was soggy and cold. The sauce on top wasn't particularly warm. I ate a few bits of melted mozzarella but by this time I wasn't very hungry. I have to say as far as service goes that wasn't great either. The tap water we asked for took 30 minutes to come. We were sat under a flickering light which gave us all a migraine ( one lightbulb was removed but unless we ate in total darkness the flickering continued). Our cold desserts were service on a hot plate. There was no toilet paper in the loos (luckily I had an old tissue in have bottom of my bag). The whole experience has left me a bit shaken if I am honest. I am a fully grown professional woman and I nearly stormed out of a restaurant and left my family there because the food they tried to serve me was so atrocious (it's next to Taco Bell they wouldn't have lost me for long). So now I am home. A bit peckish but sickened at the same time. They did take my main course off my bill and no one else in you group had major problems with their meals.

Isnt the first time myself and my partner have eaten here but tonights service was terrible! 19/04/14. Was served by a none english bold guy who could just about speak English. Couldn't understand us. Wasnt really interested in serving us...more interested in leaning against the wall or on his phone. Wasn't in his serving section at all so when ever we needed some thing it was always an effort to get his attention. So when it came to when we wanted more drinks we just gave up trying to get his attention. Our mains he served out as we were still eating our starters and then quickly walked away from us. Wasnt an enjoyable or relaxing evening at all. And honestly the waiter just niggled at me all evening because of his lack of service and just didnt care attitude!!

over 40 minute wait for a paper thin pizza and a bland pasta dish which had 3 small bits of chicken in, over priced but look for money off deals to make it more realistic, we can make the same far better at home, nothing exciting about the whole first time experience to make me want to rush back, think the kids will like it more though.

We have been to Pizza Express many times and been very happy so we thought we would have a nice lunch in between shopping. Starters came and was fine but then was left 45mins waiting for our mains. Once we got the waitresses attention she did apologise but no complimentary drinks was offered while we then waited longer. Would recommend Pizza Express as a restaurant just not Lakeside Shopping centre one.

We should have realised when we were left standing waiting for a table, even though we could see lots of free tables, that there were issues. We usually enjoy Pizza Express and can rely on a good eating experience however we felt very disappointed this time. I just hope we caught them on a one off poor shift. There were a number of issues, which it will be quicker to bullet point.1. The food was not up to the usual standard I have come to expect from Pizza express. I wish I had not bothered with their new take on Macaroni cheese as it was bland and due to it being burned tasted like ash, which I hope is not the new take. I could not eat it so sent it back, which I was not charged for. My son's pizza tasted mainly of cheap tomato purée. My husband's calzone was on the wrong side of cooked.2. The cleanliness of the restaurant. There was food, cutlery and discarded paper napkins under a large number of tables so it looked like they had not cleaned up in a while. It seemed like tables were left a long time before being cleaned. It did concern me several tables had large bottles of cleaning products left unattended for most of the time we were in there, imagine if a child got hold of one. The general impression was no one was guiding the staff in keeping the standards of tidiness. The ladies had one toilet broken, and the dryer and paper towels were left all across the floor. Again the impression was staff had not checked these.3. The service, there was a long wait and staff gave what seemed like half hearted apologies. When I complained about my meal the waiter did not give the impression of being bothered almost like this happened regularly. Overall staff appeared to be unguided, not sure who was doing what.The good point was the dough balls.I have completed the Pizza Express Feedback form, so I hope they take note. Many of the issues could be solved with someone guiding the staff. I do hope this restaurant can resolve these issues as it has certainly dented my view of the overall brand and I left very unhappy.

Had a lovely, great value meal here. We had a 3 courses for £13.95 voucher, so had starters of cheesy garlic bread and dough balls, a pizza and a pasta for mains and we just about had room for dessert; chocolate fudge cake, and the ice cream. All delicious and and good portion sizes. Service was excellent too. No complaints!
