Enjoyable visit to this pizza express branch. Service was good and food up to the usual pizza express standard. Decent value

I regret not clocking the name of the waitress who served us, as she was just great. Really friendly, super helpful and made us feel really special. My little boy is very specific in what he likes, the waitress diligently took the information down on her iPad and then went and personally spoke to the kitchen to make sure the message was received loud and clear. She gave us the space we asked for when it came to dessert and we left feeling like we'd been given the space to enjoy the experience, not rushed or just a number, but the most important people in the room. She noticed the colouring pencils were a little light and brought some extras. If only all hospitality was this good. People are quick to moan for a bad experience, I just thought this experience was really very good indeed.

Please read the reviews before your visit and don’t make the same mistake we did by going here. Absolutely terrible service. Our waitress clearly didn’t want to be there, she was so disconnected and verged on rude the whole time our family of 6 were there. My food didn’t arrive with all the rest and when we asked where it was, we were told “someone else took it”. No apology, no fix, just made to wait wondering what the heck was happening and eventually, after every single other person in our party had finished their dinner, mine came out. The waitress just dumped it in front of me and left. They didn’t take anything off the bill or ask if there was anything they could do to make it right. Just dumped the food and left. Throughout the whole meal nobody asked if we wanted another drink or any sides etc. Terrible service, food very average and downright rude staff. We won’t be going here again and I would certainly not recommend it to anyone.

one of our starters came out alone freezing cold after waiting over 30 mins sent the food back and still no sign of my partners starter. Our mains then came 20 mins later still no sign of our starters. our server didn’t come and do a check back or give us an update on the whereabouts of our starters until 10 mins after we finished our mains he came with our starters with a brief apology. wont be returning

We popped in on Sunday lunch for a quick bite, Simona (our waitress) did a great job. We had a romana based pizza on her recommendation which was good. Not much else to say on the food, biut, Simona really made us feel welcome and made sure we were happy.

Waste of money ! Spent more than 50 quid on two pizza and 3 drinks ordered a prawn pizza only to have 7 am not joking 7 smal prawns just tossed in with any flavour or anythin . A pizza for 16 quid having 7 prawns they taking the piss!!

Been here before and it was fine. This time though was dreadful. I came with my partner for her birthday weekend, We got seated promptly and ordered food and drink 10 mins later. The dough balls came before the drinks. One of the drinks were missing. The carbonara’s pasta was over cooked and burnt in places The manager said that’s the way the pasta is cooked?? Burnt…. They were 6 prawns on our pizza and not much taste. Plus no pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut the pizza. Staff had very minimal product knowledge and desire. When they brought the food they placed the food down and said Who’s got pasta? Bearing in mind we both had a pasta dish. Then the Mojito was watered down and possibly the most tasteless mojito I’ve had. No straw was offered. Finally no table check was completed to see how we were getting on and table clearance has been 15 minutes and still no sign. Very disappointed but no one to tell as we are invisible. Will not return

When we visit Birmingham and want a simple pizza for lunch, this is where we head to. The food was spicy and tasty, well cooked. The staff were friendly. The service prompt. The place clean. Recommended.

We've visited here a few times before and never really had any issues, but on this occasion (11th November at approx 18:26) the service was absolutely dire. We booked, and were seated relatively quickly on arrival, choosing to sit in the outside section in the mall. Unfortunately the service from here on in was awful. Our waitress was very slow to take our food order and it took a while to arrive as well. Our starter plates weren't even cleared by the time our main came out (which was brought out by a manager who eventually cleared our starter plates) and other tables around us had the same issue too, tables were left uncleared for ages. We asked for table water with our drinks which never arrived so had to go in to the restaurant to ask for it. We then gave up waiting for the waitress to come back to take our dessert order so went inside to order it from another waitress, who then forgot one of the items (as we checked on our mobile app) so had to order it again. The whole experience was just let down by the service, which was a big disappointment for us.

The Manager (I think) is not very welcoming and a little curt. He wanted to disposed of my husband's Starbucks coffee cup (Starbucks is next door to Pizza Express) but he hadn't quite finsihed his coffee so was asked to hide his cup which I thought was very odd. When we were served the starters, Chilli King Prawns £7.75 it was very underwhelming, the sauce was really watery and the prawns could have done with a bit more cooking. The Duo Romana £17.45 base was almost transluscent as it was that thin and the toppings were soaking right through. The Sicilian Still Lemonade drink I ordered tasted like very weak lemon barley squash and at a cost £3.50! I do not recommend this branch of Pizza Express, based on my experience there today, I will not be wasting my money there again. £32.00 down the drain.

Went in on Wednesday and was seated immediately. Decided on having the polenta chicken for a starter and an American pizza which were both really nice. Definitely recommend the strawberry lemonade as well. Staff friendly and attentive, would go again!

This review is so hard to write as i still cannot comprehend in the way myself and my family were treated. Myself, my wife and my 4 young kids went to have lunch whilst shopping in the bullring. We walked in and immediately were approached by a large male in a blue shirt . No warm welcome no good afternoon ,just in a stern tone said we would have to wait or come back as there was no space for us. My wife pointed at a table empty for 6 and his immediate reply was that we cannot serve you there. I asked for his name he refused to give it and ignored us. His colleague told me his name was andrew and that he was the manager. As he saw us talking to his colleagues, he not only threatened myself but also my family for a simple request of a table. He then said he would call security on us for not leaving. My youngest is 6 years old and only wanted a pizza. We have eaten at pizza express for many years and honestly can say we will never return. It is one thing insulting me but insulting my family in front of other customers is truly unimaginable and completely unacceptable.

I have been to many Pizza express restaurants and unfortunately, this had to be the worst. The staff looked messy and unorganised, could hardly hear our waitress. Served cold food, food sitting waiting to be served for at least 5 mins so it was served cold. Won't be visiting again!

Twenty minutes to be able to order, pizza was fine but no one came back to ask if we needed more drinks, a dessert, or even if the food was ok. The restaurant was half empty and there was a sign saying reservations only, so they were turning people away on a Friday night when there was loads of space - poorly run business. When we could eventually get the attention of a waitress - 3 were stocking a fridge up with apple juice, basically an excuse to have a chat - our bill was wrong. The waitress barely communicated with us, did not seem to care. An hour and a half in a restaurant for pizza and a beer is awful; we wanted dessert, but we’d had enough. The manager, who frankly looked a mess, didn’t seem to know what he was doing, as he clearly could not manage the slowest staff I’ve ever seen. A real shame as the pizza was nice, but we wouldn’t bother with that place again.

The worst service I have ever experienced. I visited on Saturday 7 May. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks which arrived fine. From this point onwards it went down hill rapidly. We ordered our food after waiting over 35 minutes the waitress came over to tell us our order had not gone through properly and we would need to re order. We did this as we had the time to do so, the restaurant was now full, it had been almost empty when we arrived. I had to ask 3 times for our starters that were not prioritised but took another 25 minutes to arrive. Pizzas arrived ok. We paid and left, as we left I spoke to a tall gentleman host who seated people. He couldn’t have been less interested as I shared my feelings on the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I also noticed a manager constantly shouting at his kitchen staff asking where orders where, this restaurant experienced problems on Saturday that were clear for the customers to see and hear.

Had a starter to share with my friend very nice then onto pizzas terrible just about raw in centre we complained to the waitress who said she would show them to the manager. Soy un gran admirador de Pizza Express y he visitado muchos de sus restaurantes en todo el país. Desafortunadamente, esta tiene que ser la peor pizza que he tenido. Comenzó con las bolas de masa que fueron perfectas, luego una pizza margarita con jamón y champiñones. Se veía bien, pero la pizza tenía un fondo empapado y era prácticamente incomible. Le indiqué esto a la joven que servía y que dijo que hablaría con el gerente. El gerente nunca vino a hablar con nosotros y no se tomó nada de la cuenta. Went there on Wednesday and as usual the food was great, service good and it was made even better by having a discount voucher to use too.

No era un momento muy ocupado y no había muchas mesas ocupadas en el momento en que comíamos, sin embargo, nos sentimos presionados por el personal una vez que se hicieron nuestros pedidos.

Visité un sábado por la tarde no estaba ocupado ya que era alrededor de las 2 pm. . . se sentó de inmediato. . . . La comida era buena. . . . sin embargo, el personal podría capacitarse sobre cómo no hacer las cosas, especialmente frente al cliente. . . la comida servida juega con tu cabello y luego ve y sirve comida nuevamente pero no te laves las manos después de jugar / arreglarte el cabello. . . los chefs / cocineros realmente podrían usar nuevos uniformes CLEAN, sí, entiendo que cocinarán y se limpiarán las manos por el costado de sus pantalones, ¡pero el estado de sus pantalones definitivamente no estaban limpios ese día!

La comida estaba a la altura del estándar habitual de Pizza Express, i. e bueno El servicio fue muy variable. Es cierto que no pedimos la primera vez que preguntaron, pero luego necesitó la intervención del gerente para hacer nuestro pedido. La comida era un poco lenta, pero nos ignoraron repetidamente cuando queríamos pedir budines y pagar. Así que pizza pero no muy Express!

Visited for an evening meal while in Birmingham for work. I was offered a choice of table - inside or out. Service was quick, food was good. Staff were friendly.

Visited this restaurant for the first time in The Bull Ring. Initially when stood at the entrance was greeted by the friendly and smiling Managers. However, once entered the waitress that led us to our table did not make any attempt to converse with us, let alone smile. She abruptly took our orders for drinks.

This was our first visit here as we received a £20 gift card from a family member and decided to make use of it.

Visited the establishment on the 5th of June. First thing that grabbed my attention was the fact that one of the staff members have cleaned table top and replenished all required cutlery and crockery, ignoring the mess left under-the table where apart of the pasta, pen and some napkins was also a metal fork. Apart of that the wait time to be served was about 15 mins with staff twiddling their thumbs and checking their phones with another 20 mins wait to have our pizzas. Staff members however seemed to have good communication skills and were pleasant to deal with. Food itself was good.

Espero haber elegido el restaurante correcto ya que no puedo creer los comentarios negativos. Después de comprar en la Plaza de Toros durante varias horas en un ocupado día festivo el lunes, decidimos visitar Pizza Express. A su llegada había una cola en la entrada y el restaurante estaba muy ocupado. Estábamos preocupados ya que teníamos tiempo limitado, pero decidimos quedarnos ya que estábamos muy hambrientos. Nos sentamos bastante rápido y nos sirvieron poco después por una camarera servicial.

Fuimos a Solihull PE ya que éramos 3 con poco apetito, optamos por una pizza grande para compartir. Después de lo que pareció una larga espera llegó el plato. Luchó con el cortador de pizza y estaba frío, se decepcionó con esto. Aprecio que, al ser un día festivo, un poco de orgullo haga maravillas.

Visited while staying overnight on business . Situated on upper tier of bullring , could not get in through the outer lower entrance initially thought it was closed so had to go via the mall using escalators . The restaurant was large with seats on the terrace offered . Staff were very friendly and provided good service , food arrived quickly and of a good quality , plenty of options available . Wine was nice but overpriced . Struggled a bit getting out mall doors were locked and another restaurant opened their shutters to let is though . Would be a good idea I’d staff would have let us know exit route .

Normally I’m a fan of Pizza Express but today was beyond a joke. We were greeted and seated without so much as a smile from the waitress. We were then ignored while the same waitress served tables who had arrived after us. Gave up and walked out after 15 minutes. Not good enough.

In another life I used to regard Pizza Express as the best pizza restaurant around. I have enjoyed pizzas in a variety of restaurants operated by this chain. With advancing years I have had to cut down on the calories and no longer eat pizza. All this changed when during half term I found myself out and about with a ten year old who loves Pizza.

Came here with my daughter for lunch, was given a choice if we wanted to sit in or out, we choose in and got a nice comfy couch, the staff were very friendly and took our order as soon as we were ready to order, pizza was so good, only problem was I couldn't eat it all as much as I would have liked too, when staff saw we had left some they offered to box it up for us which we happily accepted, we had pudding I had the small cheesecake pudding with coffee and omg it was the best cheesecake I have ever had and the coffee was so good, we will definitely be coming here again

Mi pareja y yo visitamos Pizza Express con la esperanza de disfrutar de una deliciosa comida juntos después de un día ajetreado, desafortunadamente habíamos esperado unos 20 minutos a que alguien viniera con nosotros. El restaurante no estaba ocupado en ese momento, así que nos sentimos muy insatisfechos y cansados de esperar y simplemente salimos. No recomendaría pizza express en la plaza de toros para alguien que espera un servicio amable. No volveré.

Pizza Express está bien. . . . un poco caro para lo que es (un poco de harina de agua, tomate y queso) pero está bien. Hacen un presupuesto 2 almuerzos de curso en un sábado para 10. 95 pero no lo ofrezcas a menos que lo pidas. . . pobre forma realmente. . . luego intentan cobrarle el precio completo si no tiene el código del sitio web. . . De Verdad. . . así que quieres p. ss me off todo por el bien de obtener mi dirección de correo electrónico. We have never had a bad meal at this branch, or poor service, that just about says it all!! My only criticism is that the best offers don't cover Friday nights when we usually take our granddaughters, other than this, it's perfection!!

Llamado para una comida antes del teatro. Rápidamente sentado y orden tomada rápidamente. Muy buena pizza de Fiorentina y un Leggara Pollo Astra. Ambos excelentes, especialmente la pizza con anchoas. Bonita copa de merlot y muy buena ginebra y tónica. Servicio agradable. Honrado 2 por 1 oferta de red.

Por lo general, encuentro que Pizza Express es bastante bueno cuando viaja, ya que al menos sé qué esperar. La camarera en la plaza de toros era desinteresada y bastante grosera. Ella repitió nuestro pedido de manera incorrecta y, aunque lo señalé, cuando la comida y las bebidas finalmente llegaron fueron incorrectas. Ella ni siquiera se disculpó un poco. Service? Slow. Order accuracy? Not great (starter never turned up). Standard of food? Okay actually. Difficulty in settling bill? had to chase someone. There is an App available though. Would we visit again? Yes, but not this venue.

Went here on Saturday at 1pm and although busy, the service and food were great. Lady who seated us was great with my daughter, really attentive.

We took our two 9 year old daughters to a show in Birmingham but had dinner here first. We all had such a nice time. The food was amazing. The staff were so friendly & accommodating. They let our girls sit where they wanted & moved them outside once the food arrived. We rarely take them out just them & the visit here totally made our night. Thank you Pizza Express staff. My daughter and I needed a food break while shopping so popped in here. It wasn't busy so seated straight away. Pizza came quickly. The staff didn't come to check everything was ok so lucky for us it was. This place was "Ok" nothing special.

We arrived at pizza express with no greeting and waited along time to be served we was eventually shown to a table wasn't welcomed and left. We waited along time for the waitress to return!! We finally ordered the food was average. Our glasses weren't collected our mains wasn't collected until desert arrived and desert was never collected. Staff cared more about cleaning the same spot over an over for the next day than us. The food was over priced for what we received we wanted something cheap and cheerful which we didn't receive. The service was awful and was that bad we got ready to leave and had to shout over to another server to receive our bill. We would not return again and wasn't worth the £50.00 the bill came to. If I could score minus stars I would. The service was that bad it was laughable. Awful!!!

Obviously good for pizza lovers but my daughter is not one! Big party of girls. Non pizza food is of poor quality. The past bolognese was quite unpleasant. Service good.

Brilliantly situated in the heart of the bullring right outside Selfridges. We were seated straight away, the waiter was extremely attentive to us. I ordered the mozzarella and tomato starter salad and it was absolutely delicious! Everyone had a great meal and food came out promptly. The toilet is a bit of mission away but all in all I would use this restaurant again.

Visited pizza express after work. Love this pizza express they on contrast are so much better than the one in Brindlay Place. Friendly staff, food is spot on you can’t go wrong!

Intentamos visitar aquí Jueves 5 de abril. Se destacó en el área de espera para ser sentado durante más de 10 minutos. Con al menos 5 miembros del personal ver diferentes a mí, pero diciendo nada! Incluso personal utilizando el hasta justo por mí se desvivieron para evitar el contacto visual! Finalmente me preguntó si era probable que nadie me asiento y me dijeron "espera un momento". A la izquierda del asco! Leyendo otros comentarios, parece que lo banal. Por un cliente que está intentando darle su negocio y ser tan ignorante es horrible. Fuimos a facturas y tenía un servicio de primera clase. Su personal no debe avergonzarse!

A whole catalogue of awful customer service. 1 thing after another, from waiter forgetting our drinks order a minute after taking it, to starter plates not being collected and main courses being served on top of these! Then one meal being completely forgotten so others had finished before it arrived. Kids asked for kids fun packs, these never turned up. Yet the usual robotic question of: is everything OK? Even when we replied: no, it was brushed to one side. Why ask?

I visited Pizza Express in the Bullring for a casual lunch one weekday lunch time and our experience was very pleasant.

Visited early evening with my daughter while travelling. We ordered our food and it came up fresh and in a reasonable amount of time. My daughter asked about the vegan options on the menu and the waitress (didn't catch her name, young girl with long dark hair) explained all vegan options and offered to amend any order to suit my daughters tastes.

La comida estaba muy buena y recién preparado, aunque el servicio era tan lento que lo arruinó. Nos tomó más de 30 minutos sólo para beber a nuestros pedidos. No entiendo si estaban ocupados poco el lugar estaba vacío. En todas partes en la plaza de toros era hacer cola a la puerta y era el único sitio que no era. Tiene sentido ahora. mirando en retrospectiva. . . .

La comida era buena, pero el servicio era lento, restaurante no parece lleno pero el personal parecía estar desorganizado y posteriormente tomó años conseguir sirve y finalmente tuvo que levantar a encontrar a alguien para conseguir nuestra factura. No sabían cómo imprimir recibos detallarán así mi colega y yo tuvimos separados los ingresos y no pedía disculpas. Durante toda la comida, el personal no era intencionadamente grosero, pero casi indiferente. Servicio parecía un poco floja.

This is a typical Pizza Express, quite busy with its location right in the centre of Birmingham, with typical chain quality food served with reasonable politeness and efficiency. Nothing out of the ordinary. Good for grabbing a quick bite. However on my visit the lift was out of order, and I was informed had been for some time resulting in the equivalent of a 3 flight of stairs hike to the toilet, no great problem for most but when one is not too nimble on your feet it could be a major problem. More maintenance please.

Very polite staff. There was a problem with my order when I phoned up they was very apologetic and rectified my order and when the delivery driver came he was also very polite. The food is also of good standard.

Fast friendly and prompt service.

Carrie and I visited on Sunday for a much needed break from the madness that is Christmas Shopping. We ate outside, the outside area was busy and vibrant. Lots of people enjoying themselves. Our waitress was fabulous. Our food was amazing. A great interlude from the hustle and bustle of the shoppers.

Visited on a quiet weekday afternoon. Lovely environment till the sour faced waitress showed up. It really did seem like the whole outfit was staffed by students on the minimum wage who really couldn’t have cared less about customer satisfaction. Shame since the food was ok. Just pity about the mediocre service. Won’t be in any hurry to return.

We had a table booked but had to fight our way past the queue of people who hadn't booked and were waiting to be seated. We waited a while for someone to take our order, but the server was really nice and our food came quickly. But then there was a lengthy delay which only ended when we asked for the bill and the 10year old's Brownie to be put in a take away box. Otherwise we would have missed our train. The upper floor was exceptionally hot and overall the place was extremely noisy, to the extent we had difficulty carrying on a conversation. The salad and the pizza were fine and they adapted one of the kids choices to suit. So overall, huge room for improvement, up nothing wrong with what we had or the person who looked after us. And it's cheap but will never be the fine dining experience some reviewers seem to expect!

We visited pizza express after a family shopping trip, we waited for a while for someone to spot us waiting. The waitress asked us where we’d like to sit as they weren’t busy and sat us down with menus. After a 20 minute wait I went to go and find a member of staff to take a drinks order. I was told “I’m sorry but I’m running between all the tables, I’m getting to you soon” so after another 10 minutes I stood up and starred at the waitress again.We really felt left, we really should have to go looking for a waitress and then having to stand and stare. Come on Pizza Express surly your training is better than this? Once we had eventually ordered the meal was lovely, can’t fault the food at all. But the staff need to be aware of customers experience. We paid just over £60 so expect better service. I shall also be forwarding an email to customer

This was fine as a quick meal with kids in the middle of a shopping trip but certainly nothing special. Kids loved their pizza but they're easily pleased! Service was quite slow but the waitress seemed to be running round busy all the time when we tried to attract her attention! Pudding portions were generous. My pizza base was not very crisp but I wonder if it was sitting around for a while?? So if you need a bite to eat whilst out shopping then go for it but not a place to visit on a special occasion.

Visited this branch while in town and we had a two for one ticket. A little cramped but not too busy. Serviced promptly, I had a pizza and my wife had a pasta dish. Both very enjoyable. Staff were brilliant especially when my wife knocked over a glass. Fortunately it was empty!

We had lunch here today.We could have sat outside overlooking the shopping mall or inside where it was pleasantly peaceful away from any loud music.The restaurant is bright and cheerful with comfortable seating.We enjoyed our meal and found staff very welcoming and efficient.We always like the food on offer.There is a lot of choice and generally prices are good because there are so many offers available on line.

Awful place. The staff were rude, we waited for half an hour for a seat being ignored by staff then only to be told to wait for a seat but the wait for food will be half an hour. Seriously needs improvement. Would not recommend

We went here with family..staff were mixed..the manager seemed very friendly but our waitress seemed moody..no smiles at all..service was slow and we had to call the waitress over several times in between courses..the kids meals were good value but our pizza for £10.50 was overpriced in my opinion..we did enjoy the experience but unfortunately we were billed £8 service charge for average to poor service..it did say optional ( but who would want to pay 12.5 % of the bill unless you had superior service. ( it also said it should be paid when its 7 or more adults..we were 2 adults and 5 children)..we questioned this and it was taken off but i found it ruined the experience as i was going to pay it as its sometimes easier to pay then question the staff..very cheeky to add a service charge on without mentioning it beforhand

Staff were great very friendly and welcoming. Food was cooked to perfection and restored my daughter faith that pizza express is the best. Only annoying part is that the provided colouring pencils had no coloured lead .

It was a busy Saturday night when we visited here. The restaurant was doing a good trade and we decided to sit on the balcony area outside the main restaurant. We were offered a starter as we sat down and chose a bowl of olives which came almost instantly. Drinks orders took a few minutes, but we ordered them at the same time as our mains. They came quickly - 2 excellent pizzas. We had to wait about 10 minutes to order desserts - and were disappointed that traditional tiramisu was not available!! The Honeycomb slice and the Chocolate Fudge Cake were fine. Service was ok throughout though we did have to ask for an itemised bill. Also we had a pre-paid voucher and as the previous time we used one of the vouchers at another Pizza Express, they had difficulty processing it. Something must be not right with their systems!Our scores out of 10 - Food 8; Service 9; ambience 6; Value for Money 8.

Went last night with grandkids. The young lady who served us was really good. Order taken in good time. Food delivery was fast and was very tasty. All the staff we first class and friendly. Thank you

Had a three course meal voucher offer and really good value. Sat outside the restaurant within the Bullring complex. Waiter was very friendly and efficient and you couldn't fault him. Hard to beat the pizza's at this restaurant and with a voucher excellent value.

Poor customer service.Staff who treat you as though they are above you; questioning everything you do.They just dump your food on the table and don't even tell you what has been brought to the table.Staff will constantly look angry.The manager that served us at the time was dreadful; treated us like garbage and took no notice of us. She started to take all of our plates away when one person finished but the rest of us were still eating.Did not say a word, dumped the bill on our table and had the audacity to add service charge for this poor showing. Just walked away and refused to communicate with us. Dreadful, disappointing, distasteful and disgraceful.Walk an extra 10 minutes to the mailbox/waters edge Pizza express instead because the bull ring one is garbage and will ruin your experience.

Visited for lunch whilst on a shopping trip. Our meal was lovely, food great as always, perfect salad and delicious wine. Service was quick and efficient and perfect for a lunch stop.

Visited this restaurant this afternoon with a friend, food was decent enough however customer service we received from the waiter names Rafik was disgraceful. No smile on his face when taking our order, did not ask how our meal was, when we asked for the bill he brought it over and when I told him I had a voucher he huffed and puffed and walked away not telling us why he was walking away from us. When he finally returned I showed him the voucher code on my phone and again he walked away to take another tables payment in between taking our payment. So rude!! Will not be returning to this restaurant again.
