Pizza Express in Norwich

The food was great however the staff seemed stressed and busy. We waited a long time for our order to be taken. The restaurant itself has been crammed with tables. Not only did the staff seem to struggle to get hot food around. As a customer, but it felt very claustrophobic and canteen like. We could literally lean back to back with the people behind us.

It was lovely food but had to pay extra to make my margarita pizza more exciting at a charge of £2:50 per item

After a disappointing experience at St. Benedict's Street branch, this visit was a pleasant surprise. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly, and our orders were taken without delay. The service was efficient, and our food arrived quickly. It felt like a complete contrast to our previous experience. The staff here were attentive and professional, making the meal enjoyable. Overall, a much better experience, and I’d definitely recommend this branch over the other one. Satisfied with the service!

The service and food were very good. Even though we visited a city centre the food was the same price as all Pizza Express. The reausrant was very busy and we got a tanle without booking on a Saturday night , The food came in good time and was hot. The entrance and exit were a bit off putting, You have to walk through another cafe to teh stairs and only one set of spiral stairs so we had to wait to leave letting people enter. There were some people with pushchairs so there must be another way in but didn't see a sign.

Had a wonderful meal here, far superior to their other restaurant on St Benadicts. Even though it was busy, the wait was acceptable. My chicken calzone was as good as it always is. Service was prompt and staff were friendly. Was a little chilly but it was a super cold day.

Booked well ahead of time, when we got there there was a queue as long as your arm, told there was a very long wait... What's the point of booking Pizza express? You became overwhelmed. I did feel sorry for the lady who had to deal with us all.

Celebrated our son's 7th Birthday there. We had fantastic experience, the waiting staff was very kind and fast. The food arrived swiftly and was really delicious. Kids had 3 course meals (enjoyed it a lot) and we, adults had pizza and drinks. I had to mention great selection of pizzas on the menu (so many choices... hard to choose :D ). The staff was very professional, we mentioned about the birthday and the waiter brought Chocolate Brownie with a candle to my son (very happy). It was Norwich football game afternoon, so the place was full within one hour. Despite that, the staff was so well organized, we were looked after very well. Compliments to the managers, chefs and waiting staff. Bravo!

Food is very good. Had a very long waiting time. Also the place is very noisy.

Poor service, extreme wait times for mediocre food. Waited 55 minutes for my starter that came out at the same time as my lukewarm main. Then waited 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared and asked multiple times whether we had ordered dessert, which we had. Waited a total of 30 minutes for a brownie that was lukewarm and cold in places. Other tables had the same issues and were told they were short on staff. We were not checked on throughout dinner and the service was poor. Finally the toilets were unsanitary and unusable with toilet paper all over the floor. I would have been more understanding if I was aware of the severe wait times prior to being sat at a table, but this was not the case. I used to enjoy this restaurant and now I don’t think I will ever return.

Several of the items that my party of five ordered were unavailable due to lack of deliveries which is really poor planning. What was available was delicious though with friendly service. Especially enjoyed the ‘American hottest’ pizza with some additional garlic oil.

I was extremely pleased to find all pizzas could be offered gluten free/dairy free. This is usually very rare when eating out. So 10 out of 10 for Pizza Express

Pizza Express is a great treat for the family. Everyone's favorite food is pizza so we all have a great time with great food. The service is good and accommodating to young children.

I ordered the new meal for one deal…as a side, I chose chips but there were literally 10 in the box, most of which were soggy but burnt. The pasta came ‘well done’ too and was partially cold in the middle…all in all, not impressed.

Regulars here, at this, most scenic of Pizza Express restaurants. Food and service are always good, but the service today was especially worthy of mention, due to the full capacity of the restaurant and being understaffed down to illness.

2 hours to get a simple pizza/pasta meal, pasta burnt to a cinder, tried to add on extras to final bill we didn’t even recieve.

Pretty good all around I had a 25% off so the price was more bearable. Dough balls will bankrupt you if you have too many!

On a previous visit to Pizza Express, I used the app and was given a 'free starter' to claim before 2 January. I decided to use it last night to share some pesto doughballs with my friends and it wasn't until the starter arrived that I was informed I couldn't use the app rewards at the same time. Anyone familiar with the app will know that the reward savings would always outweigh the cost of a starter and I feel as though I've been scammed into buying a starter that I would not otherwise have ordered. When I queried this, I was told by the waitress that it's "all over the app" that you can't claim the starter and use your rewards but when I double checked, this is absolutely not clear at all and a case of 'read the small print in a very transparent font in one place and definitely not "all over"' In addition to this, the cafe reale dessert has shrunk to a laughable size - 5 mini figs and a thimble of mascarpone for £7 is poor. I was disappointed with the level of service which was extremely slow and the waitresses looked exhausted and lethargic leading us to wonder how long they'd been on shift. I usually enjoy a trip to Pizza Express but this time I've come away feeling like they've taken advantage of me.

I didn’t want to be rude but when the order arrived the box was opened and i was told it was to check the order but i haven’t eaten it because of this reason because i am afraid of my food being tampered with.

Nothing to complain about...would be lovely if they offered natural Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit (berries) on the menu to top off a lovely starter and salad 🥗. I can not do the sweet items on their menu for health reasons. Other than that, a very enjoyable meal out with the family.

I’m usually a big fan of Pizza Express, but my recent visit was by far the worst I’ve ever had. It was quite a busy Sunday service, but that shouldn’t excuse the miserable waitress serving us. She barely made eye contact, looked thoroughly fed up and made it clear she’d rather be anywhere else than taking our order and faking pleasantries. I’m not really one for placing too much importance on the service, as I’m there for the food, but even this felt rushed and not to the same standards that I’m used to at Pizza Express. The festive sprouts were a joke and actually almost inedible. Dry and hard, as if they’d scraped together some leftovers from a few days before. The pizzas were decent enough but for nearly £20 each they should be exceptional. The only redeeming aspect of our visit was the table which was overlooking St Peter Mancroft outside and a great view for people watching. We won’t be back.

Best / order delivery yet!! Pizza was lovely and so tasty. It was generously covered and delivered warm as were the potato slices....cool tomato side sauce with them to. Delivery guy was very good and represented pizza express very well!! Got to say this order has renewed my faith in pizza express. Thank you!

Wonderful location with views across to St Peter Mancroft. Also in the atrium of The Forum so at this time of year you are surrounded by Christmas lights - very festive. Always reliable for excellent pizzas (Pollo Ad Astra is still great) - amazing to think they have been going almost 60 years (since starting in Wardour St, London in 1965) and have never compromised on quality. Their Christmas menu this year looks amazing - well worth a return visit, soon. Friendly and speedy service too.

Awful awful awful Booked for 5-45 pre theatre supper Arrived on time and after 20 mins managed to place drink and food order Drinks eventually came but food arrived at 7-15 This gave us 10minutes to eat and rush to theatre Food dreadful and service almost non existent .Place was heaving withunhappy customers all wanting food .Spoilt what should have been pleasant evening family meal Obviously to be avoided at all cost .what a pity as used to be ok just .

We had family visiting so booked pizza express as you can’t really go wrong with pizza. However we were wrong! We were seated quite quickly but we’re waiting well over an hour for our food. The waitress apologised for the wait and said it was on its way. It finally arrived 20 minutes later. The pizzas were average. Soggy bottoms and a lot of dough with not a lot of topping. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks, which we did. After our meal we waited patiently for plates to be cleared and desert to be offered but this didn’t happen. After half an hour of waiting, watching the staff laugh and joke among themselves and set up other tables whilst completing ignore us, we decided we would just leave. This also wasn’t as simple as it could be. Asking for then bill, then waiting 15 minutes before asking someone else for it. It eventually came and we paid up and left. The whole meal was disappointing and we won’t go back!

Food was good, service was friendly....but oh my it was slow. Took ages to take order, we actually gave up on ordering dessert as sat waiting for so long, our waitress appeared to go missing for 15mins....other staff could see we were waiting but not one offered to help. So my son went without his dessert from the kids menu but still had to pay for a full kids menu!! Lovely restaurant but could do better.

Such a great lunch, all we could wish for.

It's nothing special, the pizza is exactly like the one you can buy in a box from the super market, Service was good though, its not the best pizza you'll have but it's a pizza.

Come here occasionally mostly with Tesco vouchers. Last time we were asked before we ordered whether we would be using vouchers. Now we don't look like we are hard up and cannot see the benefit of asking this in advance unless you're going the stiff us on the food. Ie. Less toppings perhaps. It wasn't busy. We normally come lunchtime so it's if no advantage time wise to know in advance. Can you request this isn't asked in future. Just annoying. Back to the food. It's always pretty good. Nothing exceptional but solid. We always say pizza is very expensive for what you get. But the dough balls with various garlic and pesto dips is very good and enjoyable. See you again sometime!

Really good food. The pizzas were crisp and tasty, and the side platters were really nice, especially the dough balls. Wish the service was a teeny bit faster but it was worth the wait.

I haven't been here for a year or so and was really looking forward to it. However shrinkflation has struck again and the pizza turned out to a bit lacklustre in my opinion. Obviously this a subjective viewpoint but I genuinely think the pizza was a lot smaller than I thought I was going to receive. I had the padana and the hole in the middle for the salad seemed to be much larger, making the overall volume smaller. Maybe that's a good thing healthy eating wise, but not wallet friendly. Less for more is not the way round I like it. However, lovely staff providing excellent service with sound advice regarding the pizza choices. Once my memory fades, I'm sure we'll be back. As someone once said.

Very special, delicious food and clean place

Food was cold, made pizza really tough and hard to eat + cut. Ordered halloumi bites and only got about 7 in a box. Won’t be ordering again.

Just mega slow. Ordered at 7:13 and delivered at 8:45 based on the absolute latest eta of 8:05.

Restaurant took so long to sort out and hand out order,OVER 2 HOURS, food was stone cold, Pizza wasn’t even cut had to do it myself . Called the store twelve times they ignored each call. Joke of a restaurant with little to no customer service. Would never order again!!!!

Great food More on the menu A must visit place

Took my son to make use of a 241 offer. We had a lovely time and the young person serving us was friendly and efficient throughout our meal. The food was Pizza Express, it does what it does well.

First and last time I shall go there, took a long while to get meals 2 of which were sent back as they were overcooked almost burnt. Very over priced for the portion size other than pizzas which were good. Poor table clearance tables left uncleared for over an hour

So a week ago we went to the St Benedict’s restaurant it was understaffed but at least we managed to get two drinks and pizza, this week the forum restaurant we got seated but 15 minutes later no drinks no food menu and a table that had to be wiped while we sat there. Wouldn’t have minded but we’d booked a table and it was only half full, such a shame the food is always decent but we left as it shouldn’t be that hard to get drinks and order food.

Well my lemon & herb chicken wings was absolutely delicious and my meatball Italiano pizza was absolutely delicious. Definitely order it again

Ordered a classic pizza and i thought it was a kids pizza no joke this was a £16 pizza the size of a saucer! Shrinkflation gone mad! Loads of better local wood fired pizza places nearby!

Slow but good service. Having a pizzas with nice view from my table. Not bad for relaxing after city walk.

We always enjoy eating here. The restaurant is spacious with a pleasant environment. The food is always good. A special mention to our waitress Monika who went the extra mile in looking after us. When we ordered she helped us to make the best of the various offers available to us, she was attentive, knowledgable and pleasant - it is this type of service that encourages us to return to this particular Pizza Express regularly.

Upon arrival we were seated reasonably sharpish, once sat down, bearing in mind we were a family of 5 and had a two year old. We waited a good 10 minutes before someone came over to take our order. Then another 10 minutes before the drinks arrived. Then another 10-20 mins before the pizzas arrived. The kids pizzas were ok. Mine on the other hand, I think was made from recycled cardboard and gave me jaw ache winding it into me. I did consider taking the crusts home to construct a nuclear bomb shelter, also it was luke warm, luckily I had chilli’s on to give me the illusion it was actually hot. I think they were rationed on cheese as well. All in all fairly poor. oh and also they had a computer mall function which made everything even more of an ordeal.

We came in very early with a huge party and they were great.

Took nearly an hour and half to come, was on ‘preparing’ for over an hour. food finally arrived stone cold, potato salad contained about 2 potatoes. Will not be ordering from here again.

Needs rebranding to pizza slow. Service was fine but actual time to get food was way too long particularly when express is in the name, took well over an hour before getting mains. All in all 2 hours for 7 people 4 adults 3 kids to eat and pay, it was a bit busy but it's pizza so much should be prepared it shouldn't take so long to bring out food. Overall food was good and tasty but kids were tired of sitting around by the end. I'd go elsewhere if you value your time.

Ordered two pizzas received one and it was cold. Paid nearly fifty pounds for for one cold pizza and cold sides. Fuming.

Really good pizza! However... it was delivered late, and it was warmish but not hot. And not as generous in size as some.

It came quite early, however the pizza toppings were completely off the pizza and the pizza base was not fully cooked.

I placed my order at 5:15 pm and didn't receive it until 7:08 pm—over 1.5 hours late. The food was freezing cold, and the pizza was so hard it was inedible. This was a complete waste of time and money.

Really good service by Richard, smiling and friendly, the food was great and the place was buzzing, the only complaint was that everyone, except Richard and one other colleague seemed so miserable, a smile doesn't cost anything.

It was an ok experience, the restaurant has a great view, the staff were polite, prompt and friendly but the food didn't really inspire. The pizza base was disappointing and the bruschetta wasn't as good as I remember. Nothing was bad - maybe just our timing. So many independent Pizza restaurants now challenging the big chains that perhaps I had been spoilt with some of these?

This is a really good Pizza Express. Visited on a very busy Saturday lunchtime but we were served quickly and efficiently. The staff should be singled out specifically for being friendly and helpful; they're a real credit to the restaurant

Great and friendly service, loved the spicy calzone with a large beer and I may well have dietbetes from the white chocolate and salted caramel dessert but it was worth it, delicious.

Lovely little Pizza Express with a great view of the church. Service was lovely and speedy (visited on a monday evening) and food was excellent. I recommend getting the app prior to your visit and referring a friend to activate some promotional codes, such as free sides or free dough balls!

Retirement meal and 22 people in the party. Excellent service, very attentive and happy atmosphere. Very organised and quality food - highly recommend.

We went as a family for a post-cinema meal. Everyone was extremely happy with their choices, and we were well taken care of by a member of staff who appeared to be fairly new to the role.

Extremely avarage pizza.. the dough balls are good.. They forgot to bring our pizza out so we had to wait and ask for our food, extremely overpriced.

Absolutely disgusted at the service we just received in youre restaurant, we were waiting to be seated and we had 3 different members of staff walk past us and did not acknowledge us standing there after numerous times of trying to grab someone’s attention we asked a young lady if we could go and sit by the window, to be very rudely told to wait to be seated! Which with that we then left, absolutely appalled at the behaviour of all the staff we saw today! And will definitely not be returning! I’m glad they don’t work for me! Disgusting!!!

Had to put 1 star but didn’t deserve this. Had an awful and truly unacceptable experience in here last night. Table booked for 6 people at 5:15pm and had to leave just after 7pm having still not been served. It was supposed to be a nice gathering prior to our Theatre visit and instead our evening was ruined with 6 very hungry people having to sit and watch the theatre show. We asked numerous times as to where our order was and even advised we would have to cancel our order due to their delay affecting our onward plans, each time being advised that it was just a few minutes. We asked at 6:45 to speak to the manager again to be told they would be with us in a minute. This did not happen until they appeared as we left around 7:10pm. In addition, the toilet were not functional - one was block and almost overflowing, the other you could not close the door due to a maintenance hatch on the floor being raised and stopping it - there was no toilet paper in either- these issues were raised and highlighted to staff during the evening with not rectifying.

Booked a table. Upon arrival (early) no table available, they had given it away. Three other families behind me also booked (were on time) were also turned away. I’ve never experienced this before in any restaurant. Poor service, poor organisation and customers lost.

Jeez, what the hell happened tonight? Turned up at 6:45pm for a booked table for 7:15pm. Huge queue to get in with some people saying they were due in 6:15pm! People were being let in, before all of us, that hadn't even booked at all. Our order took ages to arrive and when it did, the main arrived before the starters! All of it was dumped on the table & everything was going cold as we couldn't eat it so fasr.. Alot of people walked out as they were fed uo waiting. the ladies toilets were honestly disgusting with one loo full to the brim with water and the other you couldn't use- the door would catch on the floor hatch placed just under the door itself.. so you couldn't close the door when using the toilet.. no toilet roll either! The bill was incorrect when brought over to us - things on it that weren't ordered! The restaurant was freezing- i had my meal while still wearing my coat! Really wish we hadn't bothered & stayed in with a take away!

I placed the order well in advance (13:15 and requested it for 18:00) it still arrived 45 minutes later than I'd requested. It was better than the last one I bought though, in as much as the toppings were actually on the base, but it hadn't been cut into slices. By the time I'd managed to do so myself, and we sat down to eat it, it was almost stone cold.

Overall good experience, service was quite slow but very busy. The pizza was very nice also.
