Ask Italian in Norwich

The complimentary lemonade was nice. 45 minutes after ordering, went to ask how long the food would be as we had a theatre booking (reservation at 6pm, theatre at 7.30). Just before 7, the waitress advised that it would be around 15 minutes, they hadn’t started cooking it. We said we couldn’t wait. It then changed to 10 mins, 5mins and then, as we got up to go, it was in the oven! Zero confidence at this point. If your kitchen is backed up, you should perhaps advise diners that there will be a longer wait for food. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Visited on Saturday lunchtime. We were quick to get a table but the staff seemed overworked and surly. Service was very poor, we waited 20 minutes for anyone to take our order. First course was equally slow. When a cheese fondue arrived it has sat cooling so long it was lukewarm and congealed. The drinks were served with grubby glasses that hadn't been properly washed. Possibly just a bad day and they may have been temporarily understaffed, but generally a bad experience.

I have online booked on Thursday. I booked on Saturday at 5pm for my husband's birthday. We turned up at 5. Guess what, one of your colleagues kicked us out no reason! She said tables full and booked full. Hold on I have booked for at 5pm. She need deal her attitude. We go home and thank you for nothing also I want do it for my husband. I think I maybe not going there again because of the attitude.

Great attentive service. Bar staff crashing bottles into the bin constantly was very annoying. Starters of sizzling prawns very poor. Main of beef ragu was good. Dessert of tiramisu was terrible

we visited on 30 september in the evening and had a lovely chill meal, food and drinks were lovely and service was fabulous too. didn’t get the girls name but she had brown hair so lovely and accommodating thank you for making us smile :)

Our waitress was exceptional. We had 2 people with us who were both dairy and gluten intolerant and her explanation about all the food dishes was brilliant. Highly recommended.

The service was so bad and we are two they will us to sit in small table even though they were so many empty sits + the food wasn’t even worth a try and thanks the service was so racist

I am coeliac, Leanne our server couldn’t have been more friendly. She was incredible, knowledgable and extremely welcoming and made sure I was happy with all of my dietary requirements. Gluten free pizza base was delicious! Absolutely perfect experience!

We celebrated a birthday thrre today and received the best service ever.

Ludovit was a brilliant waiter attentive and good humoured. He was very helpful with choosing gf options bringing both their gf menu and their allergy book. Nothing was to much trouble

Well - let me start with I love Italian food and in the past loved ASK Italian. In arriving yesterday we were met with snotty ‘greeter’ demanding I move from the doorway (queue) despite being to one side and giving passage to people already. Then asked if I have a reservation because they are very busy and no tables inside. Practically telling me to go away.. but we were happy to sit outside. Despite the whole top floor unused - as it always is. Never had such a poor greeter who by the way had her personal phone hanging out her back pocket which in my opinion is unprofessional. When the food arrived a child’s meal came covered in salt. When politely asking for it to be made without added salt we were met with confused faces as if it was strange to ask for such a thing… not sure 1year olds should be having excessive salt personally. But in the end fresh plain food was made. Issue resolved. As we thought the experience was ending a horrid beetle appeared at our table and was all over the table… I get we were outside so not giving blame here but it certainly didn’t add to the experience… do I mention that non of the tables outside seem to be stable and wobble really badly.. oh I did. Not heading back to this one… all the best..

Absolutely fantastic, great food and service. Ludouit was a great waiter this evening, one of the best we have had when visiting Ask Italian.

The starter was bland. At a time when tomatoes are excellent the tomatoes on the starter were bland. The buratta was balnd too. It needed for your ingredients to be tasted for their quality and flavour.

Absolutely annoyed, we visited to celebrate my daughters 17th birthday as it’s her favourite restaurant, drove all the way from Lowestoft (an hour away) only for the restaurant to be shut because something wasn’t working! No one had the decency to call us or even email us to explain that they could not honour our booking. 2 hours drive (an hour each way) parking and fuel for a wasted trip. Not sure I will be coming again! The guy in the restaurant didn’t even apologise, just said that they were closed, and I did explain that we had booked! Really not happy at all.

So for me this was a disappointing experience. My heart was set on lasagne ...but none to be had as had run out ! My caeser salad was v mediocre...chicken tough & no trace of anchovies ; heavy on the croutons. My dining companions seemed to enjoy their mains but were disappointed that several of the dessert options unavailable. Would I return ? NO. However service was good tbh.

Ludovit was very accommodating to me and my allergy (gluten). Would recommend ASK Italian Norwich to anyone. The food here is delicious!

Went on a Saturday evening. If it wasn't for Annie the lovely waitress it would of terrible. The manger needs to stop prancing around trying to show off to the male customers. If you smiled it would help. Annie thanks for saving the meal, your attitude was great, you were so bubbly and nice and it was a pleasure to be served by you.

Very impressed with the service. The food was good, just as expected, but the reason for this review is that our waitress, Leanne, went above and beyond to make our experience great. We had a toddler with us, and Leanne did everything possible to help make things easy and enjoyable. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.

My husband and I had the best afternoon lunch here, the food was absolutely fabulous 😋😋 we had squid in batter with lemon & mayo and tomatoes & mozzarella with rocket, really lovely starters, for main I had crab & prawn ravioli with a hint of chilli gorgeous sauce with it !! My husband had sea bass with sliced potatoes & veg, followed by a chocolate bomb my husband said was absolutely gorgeous !!! I had lemon tart 😋 all our food was delicious, accompanied by a glass of wine each, the lady & man who served us were both fabulous extremely friendly & very helpful, we will definitely be going again 😀

We stopped by this restaurant on the way home from our holiday. The food was absolutely delicious both myself, husband and our two children loved the food. The lady who served us was lovely. Sadly I can’t remember the name as this was a couple weeks ago now but she was so friendly, accommodating and patient with our little ones.

Service was ok, food hot but have had better here, was quite dry

Terribly understaffed, waited an hour and ten minutes for our food. Staff pretty much ignored us due to number of customers. There also seemed to be an argument between management and chefs. Not a nice atmosphere. Pizzas were tasty, however the wilted, dressing soaked salad was nasty. Our waiter was polite and tried his best.

Fast service and good food. I had pizza margherita and my daughter had the spagetti bolognese. The pizza was divine. My daughter enjoyed her spaghetti, but personally I believe the bolognese sauce needs a little bit of improvement. It was quite thin and brownish colour which is not at all appealing. Maybe some fresh qualitative pan fried tomatoes will do the trick. The staff were lovely and the ambience superb! Bravo for the lemonade, really nice indeed.

What a fantastic experience at Ask in Chapelfield! Ludo was extremely attentive, kind, ready to help us with anything, and above all, professional- just like all of the staff! Delicious food, fast service and gorgeous espresso martini’s in particular. We will definitely be returning!

As a family with three individuals on the autism spectrum we have always found something that my youngest, and pickiest eater, will eat. We have no problem here.

Food was very nice although we did order a garlic bread that came after we had finished. However, it was my birthday and they were happy to bring my cake out with plates. A very pleasant evening.

What can I say,three lovely girls doing a grand job under pressure but still giving excellent service with a smile and a chat,pizza was top notch ,the chefs were cracking,well done credit to Ask Italian Norwich.

Had a great experience at ASK before the theatre today with perfect service from Ludovit. Kids loved their pizzas and ice creams and we enjoyed Pollo Milanese.

We were greeted by lovely staff and sat down within 5 minutes of arriving, we were served by Leanne, who made sure we were seen too, even down to making sure we had extra serviettes, food arrived very quickly even though as it was busy, Leanne had an amazing attitude towards serving us and gave us one of the best customer service experiences we’ve ever had. Thank you for the amazing food, and thank you Leanne for the amazing service and hospitality

Soooooo good!!! Only my second visit here and brought mum along too. This time having the Burrata and Panceta Corbonara (so wish I could have posted the slo mo of the parmesan) Ludo was a wonderful host, very charming, polite and clearly a hard worker of the Ask team. If I could give more than 5 stars I would - and this is even before we had desert 😂

Good for as always. Our waiter, Ludo, was excellent. Nothing was to much trouble and he great with the children. We took some pizza home and he even put little pots of the garlic sauce and honey in there as he knew my daughter loves it. He’s an asset to Ask Norwich.

Our granddaughter had taken us to Ask Italian for a Father’s Day treat. We had excellent service from a lovely young lady, she was really attentive but not over powering. And the food was delicious, as always. Great atmosphere. It was my Husband’s first time at Ask Italian and he was very impressed gave it 10/10

We've been served by Leanne at Norwich ASK many times. Always friendly, nothing is too much. In this industry it's hard to find someone of her level. Deserves a pay rise.

The waiter Leanne was very understanding of allergies and was very understanding and helpful! The chocolate lasagna was delicious!!

Easy to get to and right next to Chantry Place shopping centre. Perfect spot for food before the theatre as the service was speedy. Pasta and pizza dishes were as expected and came with decent portion sizes. Good value overall and will very likely return again before an evening out in Norwich. Not quite sure what the tiny super sour lemonade drinks were really for that were given to us upon arrival but it made for an interesting talking point.

Had a lovely meal here in Norwich . And they catered fairly well for Gluten free diets.

Service was a 5 star from ludovic our main waiter. Really attentive and personable. However as we had an allergy sufferer we had to have some service from a manager ( great rule) she however was very cold no engagement or smile

Service wasn't great, waitress who served us was polite enough. when we were waiting to be seated, however 3 members of staff came to where we were standing and just ignored us. I appreciate when it's busy you can't stop and chat, but a bit of acknowledgement wouldn't go a miss. The lady who eventually seated us was miserable as sin, wouldn't no how to crack a smile if she tried. Again appreciate you can be busy, but customer service shouldn't be forgotten about. Fortunately the food was good 👍 very tasty infact so that made things a bit better.

Ok food ,slightly overpriced rank toilets poor service due to not enough staff,but the staff that were there were really good

Went for a catch up with friends one evening. It was busy inside and out due to the lovely weather. We had booked, we had a short wait to be seated (we could see that they were busy so this wasn’t a problem). We were shown to our table and given samples of their homemade lemonade (which was delicious). Our waitress, who I didn’t unfortunately didn’t catch the name of, was so friendly and polite, she made an effort to spark a conversation with us. The food was beautiful and so were the drinks (I recommend the elderflower G&T). If you’re a student you can actually get a free round of drinks with the Unidays app at the moment (which I did make use of). The prices were very reasonable and everything was very pleasant!

Service was horrible-staff were extremely rude and also found a hair in the food.. will not be going here again and definitely do not recommend to anyone

May half-term week in Norfolk. Always find time for a trip to Norwich - great shops! Anyway, lunchtime presented its usual challenge to find somewhere not too busy and not junk-food. I’m usually not a pizza-for-lunch type, but my OH could eat pizza morning, noon and night and still find space for more pizza. So we chose Ask as it wasn’t rammed and has quite an extensive range of “not-pizza” dishes. Loads to choose from - but for some unfathomable reason I was quite taken by the description of the first pizza on the menu so Spicy Calabrian with nduja and goats cheese - and decided to step out of my comfort-zone. It was really good - tasty, lovely thin base that still had flavour and chew - and stayed hot on its marble board. I started eating it before I took the pic - apologies!! My only criticism for both mine and my partners would be there wasn’t a lot of cheese - just a little more would’ve made it five stars! Anyway, the restaurant was bright and fresh and felt clean and airy. The staff were great - attentive, happy to help, friendly, drinks arrived super quickly - and the beer was perfectly chilled - food was quick too and looked and tasted fresh from the oven (not having hung around under heat lamps). Would definitely visit again - I’ve been to different Ask restaurants and this one definitely stood out as the best.

Me and my friend dined in at ask Italian, and everything was amazing. The service, food and atmosphere were very nice and we both had a great time. Such a lovely restaurant, i would recommend to anyone to eat at ask Italian.

Booked a table inside, but when we got there it was a lovely sunny day and the staff were very accommodating with our request to change to an outside table. Both my wife and I had the Pollo Milanese which was very tasty. Only downside is the drinks are vastly overpriced hence I've dropped it one star.

Worst place to visit, staff were very rude and racist towards me. I have never encountered such behaviour before. This is shocking i couldn’t believe what I experienced. It’s the 21st century and having people still acting like this is crazy. Made us wait 10 minutes at the entrance, never bothered to serve us. When she finally decided to serve us she told us there were no empty tables when clearly there were so many empty tables. Told us there was a 4 to 5 hour wait. Horrible ! Worst experience ever !

Disgusted by the way I was treated today by a member of staff, I was waiting to be seated however the staff told me there is no tables available for 4-5 hours clearly there was which was obvious from where I was standing, later when I was about to walk out group of people were behind me and they were seated which then was clear that I was not welcomed because of my background ( I wear headscarf). This is horrible and I will take this further to avoid any of your staff to treat another person this way.

Great service by waitress. Really helpful. Food tasty and good choice

A nice meal out with family, but a few issues. The main took ages to arrive, but they did give us a round of drinks on the house. The main reason for the low rating is that the children’s meals were served last. Please, please bring kids meals first. It’s just common sense, especially if it’s already late.
