Ask Italian in Norwich

Waiting to much ,and they ask for cheese after I finish my pasta haha ,bad

Was over 90 minutes before we got served mains. Beer and white wine are served at room temperature, or even warm! Décor is pleasant but dining is very noisy and quite cramped. Staff, whilst helpful & apologetic, are running around always rushed. Food is very tasty (after it had been sent back and corrected to what we actually ordered). Been twice in 6 months, same experience.

Over 1hr and 45 minutes to receive our mains and when it came it was undercooked and cold , been coming here for years but won’t be going again. The table next door had 2 starters turn up then the other 2 25 minutes later? Shocking and only took 1 meal off the bill….stay away

This was one of the worst meals I have had in Norwich. They didn't have half of the things on the menu but didn't tell us until they had taken our order. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was terrible, overcooked and really bland. It cost £17.95! It tasted like a child's meal and I could have made it better myself. We all complained but they didn't offer us any discount. It was just such depressing food. I'm still shocked by how bad it was. How does this place stay open?

Food & service was excellent, we were sat by the window so we could be nosey, lady named Zara served us and was very friendly and polite would definitely recommend

It started well. Got a table for 2. Got drinks and ordered food. We talked and waited and waited, then waited some more. Another table of 2 had left without getting food. Another table complained. Server eventually came over and casually said that our meal was being cooked. No mention that they were short of chefs due to sickness or I'm sorry your order may be delayed when we arrived and ordered. Food arrived around 40 minutes after ordering. Mine was just about warm enough to eat. No check-in from servers to ask if everything was OK with meal. Not sure about going back. May give them a second chance.

Seevice was excellent. My friend thought his meal was excellent- lasagne grande & Biscoff cheesecake. My gluten free mains - including the serving dish - wasn't hot enough. My fish was soggy, it was all bland, and the potatoes were dry. 2 of my triple mini desserts were OK but the third was tasteless.

Me and my boyfriend went in for a last minute meal and we were sat right away. Leanne was the absolute best, she was so smiley and made time for us even though she was rushed off of her feet. We will definitely be back just for the service alone! The food was also extremely good and came out very quick.

We've been having a wonderful dining experience at Ask Italian for many years and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. The highlight of our meal were the two Prima pizzas that we ordered which were absolutely delicious! The toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the crust was cooked to perfection. In addition to the pizzas, my mum ordered a spicy pasta dish which was equally as tasty. The combination of flavours and spices in the dish was just right and really added a nice kick to the meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very pleasant and the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always happy to offer recommendations or answer any questions we had. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Ask and I would definitely visit again. If you're looking for delicious Italian food with great service, this is definitely the place to go!

Went on Friday afternoon during the Christmas school holidays. There were 5 of us 3 adults and 2 small children. It was busy and it took around 40 minutes to get our food. When the food arrived my food was luke warm. We asked for a jug of water and it never arrived. The staff were friendly but it cost £130 for 2 starters, 2 children's meals, 3 mains, 1 side and a round of soft drinks. I think this is very expensive for some pasta and children's pizza

Brilliant food and was served and looked after by the lovely Leanna. She went above and beyond to make sure we were fine with our food and took extra care with our Gluten allergy. Thank you!

Went for lunch on Christmas Eve, there was 5 of us, we all had a great meal, staff were friendly, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

The food was nice, the desserts were very large. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The waitress was Laura who was delightful and welcoming. I would be happy to go there again

I've not eaten at Ask for about 7 years. The last time I ate at one was in Lincoln, but it was the worst service I've ever had and swore never to go back. My wife however wanted to go so I thought why not! Looked at the menu outside and fancied the new Christmas pizza. After a short time the waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order, we handed him our menus and he noticed a table was leaving and he literally walked off! When he came back my wife ordered first and when it came time for me there was NO turkey..so the pizza was off the menu. I rushed and ordered a meatball dish, what turned up was a rigatoni pasta dish with 4 tiny meatballs in a tomato sauce where underneath was a clump of red peppers and red onions. £36 that cost me including my wife's, which isn't lots of money, but I expected more. Not sure what's happend in all these years, maybe I should of left it at a Lincoln and learnt my lesson.

Well let me tell you about this one! First impressions were good with our lovely host Zara (sorry if I got that wrong I am bad with names) taking us to our table! Positive start at a restaurant getting a table! We got cozy and let me say, the atmosphere in this restaurant was electric!!!! Have you ever watched WWE and seen Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson walk out after a return back to the ring? Well this is what it felt like! It was a magical place! More magical than Disney land! We was then introduced to Harry who was our waiter tonight. He was very welcoming, friendly and helped recommended meals for me and my friends to try! He was amazing! He even laughed at my Joke, which is a first!!! What did the fish say when it swam into the wall??? DAMN!!!!! Hahaha now this is funny! But honestly everyone was really good and helpful and friendly and the food was very good too! Italian food is amazing and this is a good place to visit especially if you’re out in town doing a bit of shopping! Well done team, give yourself a big pat on the back, whoooop whooop!

Had another fantastic family meal at the Norwich restaurant. Right from the moment we were welcomed in the staff were helpful and understanding especially with my intolerance. They slightly adapted something on the GF menu for me and also could alter the chilli in a normal dish hubby ordered. I felt special not a nuisance and valued . I even managed to have a dessert too which is very rare when eating out . I can definitely recommend the three small desserts on the GF menu really delicious. All food was cooked perfectly and staff were attentive but not intrusive. We will certainly be returning as we always have a great experience. Thank you to all the staff.

We went for a family birthday celebration. There was 7 of us in total and it was a busy night. The service was next level and the food was amazing! My mum is a fussy eater and the dish she was going to have was off the menu. But they adapted a meal for her with no trouble at all. They were all so friendly, the atmosphere was great and we can’t wait to go again! Our waiter was Luci and he made sure we all had a fantastic time!

Zara, Luto and Harry are the dream team! 10/10 would recommend to a friend! Perfect with the kids and kept us parents entertained!

Ludo was very attentive and ensured that my dietary requirements were well met, giving advice on alterations for dishes rather than missing out. With a dairy allergy I opted for a king prawn & crayfish pasta dish with a red sauce rather than the dairy alternative and it was amazing, hats off to the chef Ryan, it paired very well with the dairy free pesto doughballs. Thank you so much for being so helpful, 10/10 hospitality.

Me and my Granny were served by Ludovit at lunch. Quite busy because of Christmas shoppers. Very friendly and happy to explain things to us when we asked. Food was really good and we left feeling full and sleepy. Love coming here!

Have been here a few times and the food is always tasty and enjoyable. Well decorated and nice atmosphere. Some great new choices on the menu - particularly enjoyed The Lemon as dessert. My main reason for posting though is to say how excellent the service was from our waitress Leeane. Huge smile, very welcoming and went out of her way to look after us - superb staff member!

Literally just left the restaurant. The food was great but the service was AWFUL! For reference there was only about 4 tables in the whole restaurant about 2 to each table….not busy at all. We had to go up to ask for our plates to be cleared and ready for mains. No one asked how the meal was during our mains. After asking for the check TWICE cause she “didn’t hear me the first time” all the waiters were either on break for hours, sat down at the tables or on their phones just talking to eachother. She kept trying to give me excuses for the bad service with all this passive aggressiveness. When i went to the bathroom about 5 workers were there eating or on phones sat down in the open. Other customers in the restaurant were looking around to be served and pretty sure left after starters. The lack of basic service was shocking, do yourself a favour and go Bella Italia across the street…..I being serious!

Usually take my disabled mum here who’s in a wheelchair. I dont know if they have new staff but we were treated disgustingly on our last visit. We mainly go for drinks as the food isn’t great. But we won’t be back again.

Fast and pleasant service, decent food, nice atmosphere

I have eaten in loads of Ask Italian Restaurants before, so knowing what to expect I booked a table for my son and I to have dinner after going to the cinema. I wanted to write this review to give a shout out to our waitress Annie. So friendly, chatty, helpful and a laugh. My son, who is equally chatty, wanted me to "write a report" about her 😂. Food was the usual Ask Italian standard but the service was absolutely on point. It really did make such a refreshing change to have a server really engage and have a laugh with. Thanks Annie!

Fantastic vegan options, with more being added every time I visit Ask 🌱

The complimentary lemonade was nice. 45 minutes after ordering, went to ask how long the food would be as we had a theatre booking (reservation at 6pm, theatre at 7.30). Just before 7, the waitress advised that it would be around 15 minutes, they hadn’t started cooking it. We said we couldn’t wait. It then changed to 10 mins, 5mins and then, as we got up to go, it was in the oven! Zero confidence at this point. If your kitchen is backed up, you should perhaps advise diners that there will be a longer wait for food. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Visited on Saturday lunchtime. We were quick to get a table but the staff seemed overworked and surly. Service was very poor, we waited 20 minutes for anyone to take our order. First course was equally slow. When a cheese fondue arrived it has sat cooling so long it was lukewarm and congealed. The drinks were served with grubby glasses that hadn't been properly washed. Possibly just a bad day and they may have been temporarily understaffed, but generally a bad experience.

I have online booked on Thursday. I booked on Saturday at 5pm for my husband's birthday. We turned up at 5. Guess what, one of your colleagues kicked us out no reason! She said tables full and booked full. Hold on I have booked for at 5pm. She need deal her attitude. We go home and thank you for nothing also I want do it for my husband. I think I maybe not going there again because of the attitude.

Great attentive service. Bar staff crashing bottles into the bin constantly was very annoying. Starters of sizzling prawns very poor. Main of beef ragu was good. Dessert of tiramisu was terrible

we visited on 30 september in the evening and had a lovely chill meal, food and drinks were lovely and service was fabulous too. didn’t get the girls name but she had brown hair so lovely and accommodating thank you for making us smile :)

Our waitress was exceptional. We had 2 people with us who were both dairy and gluten intolerant and her explanation about all the food dishes was brilliant. Highly recommended.

I am coeliac, Leanne our server couldn’t have been more friendly. She was incredible, knowledgable and extremely welcoming and made sure I was happy with all of my dietary requirements. Gluten free pizza base was delicious! Absolutely perfect experience!

Well - let me start with I love Italian food and in the past loved ASK Italian. In arriving yesterday we were met with snotty ‘greeter’ demanding I move from the doorway (queue) despite being to one side and giving passage to people already. Then asked if I have a reservation because they are very busy and no tables inside. Practically telling me to go away.. but we were happy to sit outside. Despite the whole top floor unused - as it always is. Never had such a poor greeter who by the way had her personal phone hanging out her back pocket which in my opinion is unprofessional. When the food arrived a child’s meal came covered in salt. When politely asking for it to be made without added salt we were met with confused faces as if it was strange to ask for such a thing… not sure 1year olds should be having excessive salt personally. But in the end fresh plain food was made. Issue resolved. As we thought the experience was ending a horrid beetle appeared at our table and was all over the table… I get we were outside so not giving blame here but it certainly didn’t add to the experience… do I mention that non of the tables outside seem to be stable and wobble really badly.. oh I did. Not heading back to this one… all the best..

The starter was bland. At a time when tomatoes are excellent the tomatoes on the starter were bland. The buratta was balnd too. It needed for your ingredients to be tasted for their quality and flavour.

Absolutely annoyed, we visited to celebrate my daughters 17th birthday as it’s her favourite restaurant, drove all the way from Lowestoft (an hour away) only for the restaurant to be shut because something wasn’t working! No one had the decency to call us or even email us to explain that they could not honour our booking. 2 hours drive (an hour each way) parking and fuel for a wasted trip. Not sure I will be coming again! The guy in the restaurant didn’t even apologise, just said that they were closed, and I did explain that we had booked! Really not happy at all.

Our waiter Ludovit was fantastic. Didn't over stay their welcome, spoke clearly, was funny and took care of our food quickly! Thank you, Ludovit!

So for me this was a disappointing experience. My heart was set on lasagne ...but none to be had as had run out ! My caeser salad was v mediocre...chicken tough & no trace of anchovies ; heavy on the croutons. My dining companions seemed to enjoy their mains but were disappointed that several of the dessert options unavailable. Would I return ? NO. However service was good tbh.

Went on a Saturday evening. If it wasn't for Annie the lovely waitress it would of terrible. The manger needs to stop prancing around trying to show off to the male customers. If you smiled it would help. Annie thanks for saving the meal, your attitude was great, you were so bubbly and nice and it was a pleasure to be served by you.
