Pizza East in Hackney

Food quality, preparation, service, and presentation all has gone down hill. Once a great pizza establishment, now it tastes of the stale, chewy, floppy crust of a 2 day old dominoes. Portion size has diminished as well. Thanks private equity!!!

Pizza was very dry so didn’t enjoy and I got Mushroom pizza which is usually a winner. Service was quick at least. Nice dim lights but too loud to hear others talking.

We went to Pizza East a year ago during the week. Welcoming and exemplary service, we felt at home. We were under the spell This day, a Saturday, loud music, more than subdued lighting. In short, I found less charm there and the value for money was limited (38 pounds per head for a glass of wine and a main course without a side or dessert...) especially since we came back from Rome... it's getting colder in terms of price... Anyway, it's hot and cold talking here, no desire to say bad things.

Unfortunately, the reception has already messed everything up. We were greeted with the words “they have to be gone in 1.5 hours”. I actually should have gone back here straight away. The pizza was horrible. The floor is actually non-existent. The salad was ok but for the money the amount was a joke. Not in need of repeating

Booked an appointment worked. We were on time. That's right. Then when we arrived at the pizzeria (they probably looked at us - tourists, first visit) there was an unfriendly reception with the words "You now have a time window of 1.5 hours!" Ok, we didn't expect that. We were given three pieces of cardboard (the clear menu) and a slightly better drinks list. OK. There wasn't that much to choose from and I ordered it after just a short time. Since we were sitting near a terminal that didn't have these handsets, the order was taken from around a meter+ away and entered straight there. The drinks came quickly. That was great. There wasn't much going on and so the food arrived after what felt like 5-10 minutes. The pizza is served on a tray (feels like aluminum?!) which was red hot, but which cools down just as quickly and thus drags the pizza into cold death. By the way, I don't eat slowly! The pizza itself: great edge, in the middle only the topping is mush and dough is only available in homeopathic doses. My family had a great Caesar salad and a rather average lasagna. The location is great, but that's not enough. Oh yes, self check-out with preset service flat rate - which service? This was also deleted without any problems. As I discovered later, however, there was a service fee (Sunday checkout fee - it was Friday!) of £1.89. I don't need it again.

Came to pizza east last night and it was incredibly packed but the service was still above and beyond. Elidon at the bar made sure my friends and I were taken care of - and made us the yummiest drinks!! 10/10

Great place with good pizza somewhere between Italian and New York style. Nice ambiance, and a good selection of drinks. See of the seating was very uncomfortable at the long tables, but chairs were fine. Service was prompt and professional.

Visited during a peak hour. The service was really nice despite the rush. Great place for friends to hang out. We were served by Sree, great lad was polite to literally everyone.

Sadly this place is unrecognisable from the gem it used to be. Overpriced, average pizza, which just doesnt cut it London these days. I asked for some parmesan once our food arrived and they charged £1.50 plus service for it, which I find laughable. Just shows they are desperately chasing the high prices because the footfall is a sorry state. Let's see how long it can last like this under Gordon Ramsay. Take my advice, go across the street to Rudys for a better, cheaper pizza. Let's leave the fond memories of Pizza East in the past as clearly they've lost their way.

Quite disappointed with the food. Thought it was quite overpriced and felt it was a waste of calories. Additionally, the food left me and my sister with a dodgy belly the next day. The resturant inside is quite nice, great decor and staff were polite. But, don't think I would dine there again based on the food

The music is far too loud. The room is so poorly lit that if it's late you have to hope you're sat by a window so you can use the street lighting to read the menu. The waiter, without prompting, immediately recommended the most expensive items on the menu. The food was nice but as pizzas go they were far too small. When it comes to paying the online system naturally incorporates a service charge but then has the nerve to asking about adding even more of a tip on top of that and that's before we talk about the compulsory payment fee - if simply paying on a card machine brought by the waiter you wouldn't be charged this but that wasn't even offered as an option as the staff immediately ignore from the moment it's clear that you're not ordering anything else. And it's hideously expensive. If you're in the area wanting pizza cross the road and eat in the Boxpark or better still leave the area and go to Franco Manca!

I visited this restaurant like last week and the food as great but the guy who served us named Jas was marvellous and he really made our visit worth while. Looking forward to come again would definitely recommend.

If you’re looking for a great spot, this place is worth checking out. Service was great especially sree, he is very friendly. Definitely a spot to keep in mind when you’re craving something satisfying!

The pizzas with less ingredients in London. On top of that the waiter we arrived (WITH RESERVATION) and tried to lie to our face saying, but the kitchen closes in 20minutes, then we showed our reservation and he said ah sorry... excuse me. Thinking we were walk in. Expensive pizzas, with hardly any toppings.

I recently visited the Pizza East - Shoreditch, and I was thoroughly impressed. The italian margherita was absolutely perfect. I especially enjoyed the drink which was simple yet satisfying. The service was also top-notch. Our server, Sreeprasad, was attentive and knowledgeable. He made sure that we had everything we needed and that our meal was enjoyable. I would highly recommend Pizza East - Shoreditch to anyone looking for a perfect place to chill out!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at pizza east-shoreditch in London that serves amazing drinks specially the Italian Margherita. The service was also excellent, thanks to the friendly and attentive staff member Sreeprasad. He made sure that I had everything I needed and that I enjoyed my drink with my friends. Such a lovely place. I love the lighting and really good portions. Firat was our server and he was really lovely and helpful with recommending what was best for me as I have a dairy intolerance.

Moody staff. Average food and no apology when it wasn’t good. I used to come to pizza east a lot years ago but I question if it’s changed owners. The vibe is completely different and food was put politely average at best. If you enjoy spending a vast amount on average food and poor service it’s the place for you. Also the 15% service charge is laughable given we’ve had to ask repeatedly have the table clearer and chase up drinks.

Big restaurant with party vibe, friendly staff, music quite loud so difficult to have a conversation, pizza good, service good, toilets smelt foisty. An 'optional service charge' is added to the bill - but it does not state that it is actually 15% of the bill - higher than elsewhere - thought this was quite underhand and not transparent.
