We had the Sunday roast, short rib which was really good and a decent size with good gravy. What I have issue with is the extremely small vegetable portion expected to be shared between 2 people, It really was a portion for 1 person, with a miniature Yorkshire pudding too. It was also all a bit cold ( not the meat ) Unfortunately the waitress could not understand English well and neither did she know the difference between the 2 cuts of meat that were offered on the menu and had to go and ask.

An amazing dinner; a tasting menu all built around the concept of cooking over an open fire. The best oyster I've ever had, cooked with beef tallow. And great, friendly service. Updated: my first review was two years ago. I just dined again tonight (as well as six months ago) and it's still wonderful. Every dish was great, and the menu seems to be updated regularly. Definitely plan to come back when I visit London in the future!

Thankfully brought here for my birthday, having seen and been enticed by Niklas Ekstedt on Master Chef. I adore outdoor cooking (despite the UK weather), so his methods/style really appealed. The tasting menu with wine pairing was sublime, as was the service. I was slightly disappointed that my birthday wasn’t acknowledged in some way (albeit confirmed upon our arrival) but nevertheless a great experience.

A wonderful meal. Some real stand out food. All the food was cooked perfectly, and no dish could be faulted , wine pairing was really good. No dish had strong smoky flavours personally I do think a bit more smokiness would have helped a dish or 2. Standout was the CEP souffle and the celeriac tart. The souffle was just amazing. The sauce with steak was gorgeous bringing everything together. All the additional extras were a real bonus that added to the overall experience

Firstly the venue is amazing and it's worth a visit, even if you avoid the food and head for a drink. The restaurant is not great, and you'll get a better experience at other local restaurants (like Hawksmoor on Air Street). The reason why I'm giving two stars is we were the 'left-alone' guests. We were ignored a lot of the time. Firstly they didn't have the right menu from the website vs. restaurant, and I had to ask why. The second is they started serving other guests (who arrived later) before us. I'm not normally this petty but when you're spending £500 on a dinner, you expect the experience to be top notch. This is not top notch at all.

5 course tasting menu with "volcanic" wine flight: the restaurant was half empty, in the back of a rather bland hotel. The feeling was much more hotel than dedicated restaurant. Food was quite nice - but for £90/head (food only) + £85/head for the wine I expect much better. Tastes were decent enough but certainly not exciting. The wine flight was ok, some of it went quite well with the food, some didn't. All delivered with a degree of pretentious nonsense by the staff. I wouldn't go again.

I booked this restaurant for my Husband's birthday after spotting the chef on MasterChef. We had the most amazing experience. We did the tasting menu and the food was incredible. The service was top notch and they added lovely additional touches for my Husband's birthday (a handsigned card by all the staff). Would 100% recommend for a very special evening!!

The food was brilliant but the service was not there. This place does not deserve a Michelin star. The servers had 0 enthusiasm, sounded scripted, banged the plates on the table and spit saliva in the intro on me 😂. I was somewhat able to overlook all of these but on the way out, there was no one waiting at the reception desk for us to pick up our coats. We called someone and he stood there watching my partner struggling to put on her coat. I went to village cafes that was treated better and didn't have to pay £400. The Owner and the Chefs working there are getting cheated on the hard work they put, so I had to let it out.

Amazing experience at this warm and friendly restaurant. I'm a big fan of scandinavian food and was excited to try this venue. We loved every course of this exceptional meal and the service was top notch. Highlights for me were the invitation in to the kitchen for one of the courses, to really experience how they are cooking the amazing food and unashamedly the bread and butter they have hand churned. I had a pescatarian tasting and every dish was sublime, I loved the stories behind the food and we enjoyed every minute. As we're not wine drinkers, we ended up ordering cocktails from the fabulous cocktail bar in the hotel and these were also exceptional. Thanks to the whole team for a unique and memorable experience.

The food was great but they significantly overcharged us TWICE which left a bit of a bad taste. Once and it would have been ok but twice took away from the magic of the evening. They didn’t really provide an excuse the first time., but the second time, they said they’d mixed us up with another table. Being that this is their business, staying on top of what each table ordered should not have been an issue. It was not addressed properly so left a disappointing feeling unfortunately for what should have been a special night. Still went for an automatic punchy 13.5% service charge after all that, so that happened.

I've eaten at a lot of high-end restaurants including three star Michelin but there are very few I would re-visit given the number of new places to try. However Ekstedt at The Yard is one of the few exceptions and definitely in my top three. The food was exceptional and there wasn't a single dish we didn't absolutely love, with each dish offering a unique flavour that we hadn't encountered before. I think my highlight would have to be the Cep Souffle. They even invite you into the kitchen to see one of the "snacks" being prepared and get a sense of what its like in a wood fired kitchen. The ambience is dark and moody which is perfect until you try and read the menu. Thankfully, the attentive staff quickly provided us with portable table lamps. Every member of the team was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely friendly, striking the perfect balance in pacing our meal throughout the evening. Can't wait to go back

So disappointed with our experience here on 7/27/24. Service was terrible, we were left for over an hour without anyone checking on us. Water and wine glasses went dry, no one bothered to ask if we'd like another glass. The food was fine, but not nearly worth the price point. In the middle of the meal, they gave us a huge slab of sourdough bread, which was pretty insulting. The portions were so small (even by tasting menu standards) and it was so transparent that they were just trying to fill us up with cheap bread. I think our server just forgot about us, and when we finally flagged him down, he was not at all apologetic about the lack of service.

Theres Anderson and her team certainly take you into the Swedish forest every course out did the last leaving you wanting more. The flavours tantalising your taste buds it was hard to say which was my favourite course either the lobster with the foam which tasted of the best lobster bisque or the veal carpaccio with mustard ice cream. The invitation to the kitchen was a memorial experience. The sommelier was so informed and interesting all the restaurant crew were exceptional. A must ! Excellent cuisine, based on cooking over a wood fire, with smoky, woody flavors. A wonderful wine list. A wonderful discovery! Very warm service. Don't miss the signature oyster, prepared in front of the guest in the open kitchen: a spectacle for the eye before the taste pleasure. In addition, the restaurant is in a prestigious place steeped in history: Scotland Yard, the former headquarters of British law enforcement. Some windows show related antiques.

My husband and I went for the tasting menu with wine pairing. We really enjoyed both the food and the wines (a part from the final wine which for us didn't work as it felt too bitter for the dessert). The staff is super friendly and polite, and a particular note goes to the Sommelier who spent the perfect amount of time in telling us about each wine tasted. My constructive feedback goes as this: the service felt quite rushed in the first half and slowed down in the second half. Try to make it less rushed as I was starting to feel drunk by trying to finish the wines. Therefore, I started leaving the wines behind, which was not nice. A couple of times, I had to ask for my tap water as I had an empty glass. Either leave the jag on the table or be more attentive. My husband ordered sparkling water, and the waiter removed the cap from the bottle. I'm sure it doesn't get flat straight away, but it's nice to be able to scre the cap. 13.5% discretionary tip is automatically added to the bill. I would like to choose what tip to leave, if any. Please give options whether to leave no tip, 10% 12.5% or 15% or higher.

The restaurant's six-course tasting menu promised fresh, innovative dishes, and the food mostly delivered. The chef's creativity shone through, and we eagerly anticipated each bite. However, the service was seriously lacking. We waited over an hour for the first course, and after prompting the staff, dishes flew out at a breakneck pace, with servers pushing aside previous courses for new ones. It was a culinary relay race. At one point, we had two wines on the table, as servers forgot we hadn't finished our previous pairing. The dessert wine pairing was a head-scratcher – the sweet dessert and wine just didn't match, and the wine arrived ten minutes after the dessert. The restaurant has potential, but the service needs work. Compared to others in its class, it falls short in overall experience. We left feeling like we'd been on a rollercoaster – highs from the delicious food, but lows from the inconsistent service. If they can improve their service, they could be a contender. For now, it's great food, really disappointing service.

Heads up that charging the bill to your room results in a 20% discount, which I only discovered by accident. In my case this meant I almost paid £100 more.

Lovely setup and impeccable service. Most of food was amazing (we really enjoyed every dish of the tasting menu), however we found the desserts to unbalance the tasting experience. After the pre-dessert (an amazing pine sorbet), we received a huge portion of chocolate dessert which was followed by more chocolate pralines making the end of the dinner too chocolate heavy an making us almost forget the previous experienced flavours. Having said that, we had a lovely evening and will surely return to try more from the chef 's unique cuisine.

Been here with a group of 12. Only around 3-4 more tables have been occupied that evening. But it felt that the staff was very busy and the 4-course menu took 4 hours. Dessert was served at 11pm, by starting at 7:30. Don’t know what kept them absence from our table. All in all not a good performance. Food was good.

Ekstedt at the yard is a hidden gem located in central London. I recently had the pleasure of dining there with my husband, and we were absolutely blown away by the experience. We did the volcanic pairing menu, and it was truly brilliant. The food was creative, and incredibly delicious. The service was also impeccable and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere at Nicola Eksted is really warm and makes for a truly special dining experience. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Me dijeron que sí, aunque estaban bastante agitada y fiel a su palabra sirve bebidas y una deliciosa pizza muy rápidamente. Luego nos dieron una llamada a decir gig se empezaba una hora más tarde. in diesem restaurant bekommt man richtig feine pizzen! es sind keine 0815 pizzen, sprich prosciutto etc., sondern es sind eher spezielle, mit toppings wie chicken, ziegenkäse oder shrimps. sehr leckere kombinationen, dazu ist der pizzaboden richtig dünn und knusprig. und es gibt 2 verschiedene grössen, sehr fein! und empfehlenswert. das einzige was vlt. ein wenig störend war, war die hohe lautstärke im restaurant.

Als je houdt van een krokante pizza zit je hier goed, ook voor diverse pasta's. De bediening is vlot en het eten zeker niet duur voor deze buurt. Mooie ruwe inrichting binnen en je kan ook buiten op het terras eten.

They say some of the best places are things you just walk in to! We were staying at a nearby hotel and just wanted something local when we saw this location. We had a welcoming reception from staff and were really impressed with the building, which we were told was an old fire station. The pizza is brilliant, cooked how a pizza should be cooked and the half yard and yard orders is a great idea...and filling. We had a great evening in here and desert didn't disappoint either. Certainly a place to go if your in the area and if staying at a nearby hotel then well worth the visit for food. If I was in this part of London again I would certainly re visit.

We visited on Saturday night, the restaurant was two thirds full but with the general speed of service you might have thought it was packed the rafters. Every interaction with the staff took longer than necessary. A long wait at the door, a delay on the drinks, an age for the food and getting the bill was just impossible. The food was ok - and perhaps if you visited over a quiet lunch they'd put on a better show, however we won't be returning. Unfortunately, it being located on a busy junction, this place will probably continue to make money from tourists and unsuspecting passers by for a long time yet.

Das Restaurant ist in einer alten Feuerwehrwache und liegt nahe an der Old Street Station. Vor dem Restaurant befinden sich ein paar Tische auf einer Terasse. Wir waren wohl zu einer Stoßzeit da (kurz vor 21:00). Es dauerte fast eine halbe Stunde bis wir überhaupt Getränke bestellen konnten. Die Servicekräfte machten einen leicht überforderten Eindruck. Die Getränke und das Essen wurden dann aber recht bald serviert. Die Pizza und Nudeln waren sehr lecker und auch der Wein war gut. Die Portionen waren ausreichend.

We went to Yard on Saturday night and had an extremely disappointing meal. Firstly, we had booked but were told at the door rudely that they hadn’t seen the booking. We were shown to a table and it took a long time to order. It took almost an hour for the main to come after we had finished our starter. We had to ask twice where our food was and their only excuse was that they were busier than they expected – not a good excuse in a large restaurant on a Saturday night in a busy area. One staff member was nice but one was extremely rude and when bringing plates back to the kitchen from outside was even swearing. They were obviously understaffed and it took them around 30 minutes after we had finished eating to pick up the plates and this was only after we had asked for the bill twice. The food was okay but not great and I could have made a better dish at home. Further, we had “Italian bread” – which was basically white toast which was cold – truly disappointing. Overall a very disappointing meal and a waste of time. I would not go here again.

This restaurant is not posh or modern, but it has the "casual" look, almost like French bistro, serving very tasteful Italian pasta and pizzas. Wine glasses are generous, service is very friendly and helpful, in a good mood. Very good for a casual dinner. Nothing less, nothing more.

My friends and I came to Yard for a dinner and drinks on a Saturday night.We were amazed by their pizzas and appetisers - we tried them all! While my friends were enjoying their pizzas, I had the best calamari and bread with chorizo ever! By the way, our service - the Italian fella, was superb, he made our evening even more enjoyable!Thank you guys, we'll definitely come back!

Pizza är nog deras specialitet men jag tog pasta ändå. Pasta med kyckling. Den var god! fast inte spektakulär. Gick fort att få maten och hade en spexig utan att vara jobbig servitör. Sambon tog pizza och sa den var mycket god. Ger det 3,7 i betyg.

Trovato per caso e dal nome non pensavo servissero cibo italiano, anche perchè non volevo mangiare italiano a Londra ed invece sorpresa... la qualità del cibo veramente buona, rapporto qualità prezzo ottima. Consiglio !Un grazie particolare al cameriere sardo che ci ha servito.

Ventured into Shoreditch upon the recommendation of a local who claimed it was home to some of the best restaurants and nightlife in London....and Yard did not disappoint! All the food we ordered was lovely and arrived promptly. Our waitress friendly and happy to have a chat. It was also located nearby a plethora of bars and clubs, handy for after dinner drinks.

Schöne alte Bausubstanz (Fussböden, Wandfliessen) im denkmalgeschützten Gebäude.Das Essen ist OK - vernünftige Pasta mit OK Sauce (Bolognese) aber nicht ausreichend gewürzt - extrem dominant tomatig.Ich würde zukünftig ein anderes Lokal wählen weil die Auswahl an Alternativen hier gigantisch ist.Der Service war sehr charmant.Plätze draussen und drinnen.

Had a lovely dinner here with friends, served quickly and received our food in good time. One strange aspect of the visit was when we paid. As we wanted to split the meal in two they said we couldn't split it in half because it would go over the amount and that would be illegal (even if we did it to the penny). This wasn't an issue, we paid the full amount one one card but we were confused as this has never been an issue elsewhere!

Average pizza and rude, slow staff.We entered the restaurant about 9:30pm last week, the waitress looked like we had ruined her night walking in at that time so I said was it ok and with much disgust she said yes.We were seated down (5 of us) and took ages to be asked for drinks/food order. When the food did come two of the pizzas were wrong and the other pizzas were very average!The manager replaced the pizzas with what was originally ordered and took them off the bill but the rest of us had all finished by then!When we left a restaurant the manager and other staff let out an almighty woop! How rude and I have never experienced that before...at least wait to woop until your customers are down the road!Would not be inclined to go back with so many choices in this area!!

I don't know where to start. One of the worst hospitality experiences. Prawns and Cacio Pepe croquettes that not even the worst pub in London would have served, dry pasta and Tagliata that was not a Tagliata. The owner should be ashamed of himself for the way he justifies himself by blaming the chef!

Have been here often for lunch. There is quite a range of food, from focaccia, to pasta, to salads. It can be a bit pricey but you pay for quality I guess!

I’m amazed by how bad this place is. We chose some spritz cocktail thing which tasted like just lemonade. They took ages to come. My friend ordered a pizza and I ordered a garlic bread with moz. That came first. Before the drinks. And before the cutlery, which I had to ask for. The server then handed me a bundle of cutlery. You don’t even train your servers to set a table. Anyway, my friend’s pizza came long after I’d finished. Common sense would have dictated that we wanted both dishes together. It’s just appalling how badly your management train your servers. They were *dreadful*, and it’s not their fault.

Maravillosa comida en Il Bachio. Gran servicio y comida increíble. Me encantó el pan fino de barquillos y mi pasta con huevas y almejas de bacalao era un plato enorme de exquisitez. Nuestra mesa estaba en la sala de fiestas, que era agradable y cómoda. Estoy deseando que llegue mi próxima visita!
