PipTree Cafe in Erewash

Unpleasant experience. Salad was soggy and reduced to a west splodge, clearly a preprepared salad which had gone soggy. A jacket potato which was over-cooked and dry and only one small packet of butter was provided. Damaged parts of potato were not removed before cooking. The table was sticky, especially at the edges.

I love this cafe. The staff are lovely and the food is great and varied. Cakes are lovingly prepared and the coffee is to die for! I don’t find the prices out of the way for this lovely quiet spot. It does get busy but that’s a sure sign that they’ve got something right. Highly recommended.

Been visiting Pip Tree since opening. Food always been very good. Our latest visit was really disappointing. We ordered "Spring Rolls". They we not as we know them. Firstly served cold, prawn roll had only one prawn, didn't see any noodles and there was overkill on the corriander. Overall they were huge cold and stodgy, we were unable to eat them. Customers on the next table, shared our views, as they also ordered them.

Lovely staff. Great food. Beautiful setting. Really interesting menu including a good breakfast selection with local and high end ingredients, and a wider lunch menu with a Vietnamese twist - created by their Vietnamese chef. Quality all round

Absolutely outstanding. Was served by a lady called jade who was very friendly and was very attentive to our needs (allergy in the family). Beautiful tranquil Place no matter what the weather :)

Love the interior of this cafe, superb coffee from 200degrees. Had a vegan breakfast which was lovey and will definitely be back to try the vegan cakes 👍🏻

I visited this cafe for tea and cake with my granddaughters. Every month we choose a local cafe to visit as a treat . This was by far the best place to date ! The range of cakes were excellent and absolutely spoilt for choice. The staff there are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Although the actual cafe was full we found a lovely spot in the greenhouse. We can’t wait to revisit and looking at the menu we hope to also have a spot of lunch as well as coke next time .

I've visited this cafe a few times with family and past experiences have been ok but our recent visit was not pleasant. Whilst queuing to order the inappropriate language coming from the kitchen was embarrassing to be listening to. Prices have jumped up massively for small portions

First, and probably last, visit here. Two slices of dry cake (at £4.95 per slice the most I have ever paid!), one coffee and one tea total £16. Most disappointing.

Came for lunch and cake on a busy Saturday - very busy. The food from the kitchen was over done and tasteless.. the cake was also very dry and very expensive considering the portion you get served.. won't bother returning

Disappointing experience. Called in for a bite to eat for lunch. Service slow to table. Had the Quiche. The pastry was well overdone. My partner had the salmon fish cake. It lacked flavour and not good value for money. On a positive note, the coffee was very good.

Nice venue at Collyers Varden Centre. Menu options also good. Unfortunately, the ability to serve hot food is missing.

One of my favourite places to go for a breakfast (vegan option available) or lunch! Need there many times. They have nice selection of food and cakes. Great coffee too! Ask for vegan menu at the counter! They make really good vegan breakfast, but when I went last time I had a vegan cheese and onion chutney panini sandwich and vegan coffee cake! Both absolutely amazing!

I have been here many times and always come away happy. Food is lovely and a nice range of options on the menu. Service is very good.

Have been several times before and been satisfied with food and service. Latest visit for brunch was disappointing. My wife had sausage roll and I had bacon, egg and hash brown stack and 2 lattes. Coffees were great, my wifes sausage roll and red onion jam was fine, but my stack was very disappointing. The hash brown was pale and only just cooked, the bacon was really hard and chewy and had obviously been kept hot for quite a while and the egg although crozzled round the edges, the yolk was a under cooked in the middle and as I was so hungry I ate it. Several hours later had tummy upset. I should have returned the food straightaway but don't like to complain. Will return again but will steer clear from fried food in future.

Always a superb cuppa. This time we had two skinny Cappuccinos. Perfectly made and just the right strength. Wait staff are friendly and quick.

I’ve been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Lovely sandwiches, fabulous cake and coffee. This time I had the cream tea - coffee and scone and it was delicious. I would thoroughly recommend and will continue to enjoy visiting!

It has been a while since I have visited here, what a transformation outside, they have done a fabulous job in providing extra seating. Find a table then order your food/drinks either at the counter or by the app. Great selection of cakes to choose from and even though it was very busy service was quick.

1st visit to piptree cafe and we managed to get a table outside the weather suited this as well, good menu choices to suit most people, ordered via the app, with quick delivery, all tasty and filling ( especially the breakfast with hash browns), cake to go for afternoon treat

Abbuamo avuto una buona esperienza. Menu ridotto, piatti semplici e molto panini. Location curata e pulita. Verdura fresca.. forse un po' troppo nell'insalata della mia amica c'era un bruchetto vivo.. sono stati molto gentili, hanno portato via subito il piatto, si sono scusati per l'accaduto non facendolo pagare e chiedendo se voleva altro. Le hanno regalato anche il dolce. Gli imprevisti capitano, avere persone disponibili ad aiutare e gentili è un plus.

My daughter took me here today for a Mothers Day breakfast. What can I say!! Told to order on the App after being in the queue for 20 minutes, which we did. We ordered 2 juices,2 coffees, 1 hot chocolate and 1 iced coffee plus food and received the 2 juices first and then 20 minutes later received the remaining drinks. 30 minutes later 2 plates of food of the 4 arrived first and then 1 further plate of food. Chased the remaining item 2 x gluten free toast with jam and was told it was following. After 15 minutes of waiting nothing arrived so brought this to the attention of the supervisor. I explained that we no longer wanted the toast as the 3 others in the party had virtually finished. The toast then arrived after stating we no longer wanted this and wanted a refund. The member of staff then rolled their eyes thinking we didn't notice this! We appreciate this is a busy day, which we explained but that level of service was not good enough. We received the refund in cash for the toast with nothing offered on top. We are regulars at this cafe and it seems increasingly that the level of service is inadequate. Offerings to Coeliac's is getting worse. The last time we visited we were told that they didn't have any gluten free cake so was left out again. You need to improve.

We had a lovely breakfast meal and is our go-to when in Borrowash visiting family. Make sure to get there when it opens as tables go very quick.

Went with my family for lunch. Had scrambled egg on toast. No butter on the side so had to fetch it. Toast burnt and eggs over scrambled - like hotel eggs. Then realised something was missing off my 90 year old fathers platter so off I went again. Half way through my over scrambled and now cold eggs my mum said I wonder if I could get another coffee. A lady passed by and I said would it be possible to get a coffee and I’d pay as soon as I’d eaten? Well goodness me I was told in no uncertain terms she wasn’t a waitress, it wasn’t waitress service and she was far too busy. It totally soured the already rubbish lunch. Off I went again to go queue up. Now I have to say 99% of the staff are so lovely but this person needs some help in customer service. I should have explained that she could have quietly explained the situation rather than shout it. It’s ok though as food seriously gone downhill so I’ll take my business elsewhere

Popped in with my son for a breakfast when the schools were on strike. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the coffee was excellent. My son had a kinder hot chocolate and he was blown away! It was huge! We’ll definitely be coming again.

We visited today with our daughter, we have visited several times before. I ordered two slices of cake one of which was the last slice of that kind. It was a decent sized portion as where all the others that were served ( I knew this as we were sat near to the cake section). I watched as our cakes were put onto plates ready for serving. The coffee and walnut cake was then cut in half and served to us. Please note cake is not sold as seen! Disappointing.

Called in here on a recommendation from a friend whilst we were visiting Derby to catch up with people as we used to live in the city. It was a real disappointment as the place looked so nice. The staff were extremely friendly, the Cafe was very clean, and the gluten free options are good, but we felt that as we arrived for breakfast 10 minutes after opening that the food should have been freshly cooked. Not so ! The food looked as if it had been cooked an hour before and was not appealing. The bacon was over done, the mushrooms were lukewarm and I do not see the point of 'leaves' on a full English as I find it pretentious. The coffee was nice though. It is so annoying when things are not good, especially as it was NOT cheap! I do not like leaving bad reviews, but have to speak as I find and if people read my other reviews they will see that I am an honest person. I hate looking for new places all the time but after a bad experience, I never return. Sorry! We did not complain as it was a quick pit stop before an appointment in Town and could not be bothered with the fuss.

I always come here if I don’t fancy making lunch for myself as it’s only around the corner from me. This place always seems busy but I’ve always managed to find a seat and the food and drinks still come out really fast. I order different things each time I come and really enjoy it. One suggestion would be to sometimes change the menu as I’ve been coming here for so long I’d like a few new options. I know you have new sharing boards but I’d like something I could have for myself. Thanks for a lovely lunch

Drove here whilst my brother was test riding a new motorcycle. Ordered a coffee and a slice of Oreo cake (Oreo Blondie). Service was fantastic and staff friendly and attentive.

I tried this for the first time loved it. Hubby had a. Jacket potato, beautifully cooked,well filled and home made coleslaw. Always perfect here.

The food is all homemade and very tasty and servings are the right size. You get bang for your buck! We absolutely loved the cakes as well. Very decadent indeed. All surfaces constantly cleaned as with COVID guidelines. Seating very comfortable and can sit inside...

Majority of the experience was nice, staff were working hard but I feel like not everyone was of the team spirit. Maybe she was on a break, but the tall blonde lady seemed disinterested in service and more on gossip, it really let the room...

Been here many times since it first opened and is one of our favourites. Visited today Thursday 20th may2021 and took the mother in law aged 88 with us. No queue which was good, option to be in the main cafe, sit outside, or outside...

Before Covid this was one of our regular places to visit. Since then, they have added more outdoor seating. They also have an online ordering system, so no need to go indoors. Staff are very friendly and the food and cakes are delicious.

We had our first lunch out since lockdown. Lovely place. The staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. A nice lunch menu. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

A little on the pricey side to be fair - more expensive than Costa in fact - but its local and its family run. Shame they stopped making their own raspberry jam - it was much better than the premade stuff.

This is such a lovely cafe with so much to choose from - homemade cakes, scones and biscuits; quiche selection; paninis and sandwiches, soup and drinks. We came for a late lunch and enjoyed paninis, soup and jacket potatoes with some hot and cold drinks and a cake. Lovely welcoming staff and all inline with Covid restrictions. Set in within a nursery this can be a double win for the Gardner’s amongst us.

We had a lovely lunch here, the food is delicious and the coffee is such high quality. We will definitely be back again and would recommend to friends & family. The only thing that could be improved is ordering your food & drink as it took so long due to queuing, table service at least inside may have made it easier with less waiting time & distancing. Overall it was very clean and safe.

Every visit to Piptree leaves us with very happy tummies. Cakes to die for. A menu that has something for everyone. Friendly kind and approachable staff. Wonderful food made with the best ingredients. Highly recommend Piptree ❤ Today we had the raspberry and chocolate cake which was a dream. The special hot chocolate was massive and hugely enjoyable!

Lovely cosy cafe and very Covid friendly. The scones were to die for so light and excellent coffee. The only gripe was the noise not sure if it’s the acoustics of the high roof but as the cafe was getting fuller we were almost shouting to hear each other above the din.Definitely return again

Small cafe within the garden centre. Lots of parking.Friendly enough staff. Nice surroundings. Ordered two cream teas, asked if I could change one of the teas to a coffee, “Yes of course” no mention that it would cost more though, probably worth saying instead of just adding to bill.On ordering the lady checked the number of scones available, confirmed there was enough.A few minutes later then told not enough scones for two. So we had just the one between us. Probably just as well, as the scone was so dry,I would have needed another drink to wash a whole one down!

Four of us came with my son the other day for a quick coffee! Everyone was so amazing, especially with everything COVID happening at the moment everyone was so careful and super efficient! Thank you so much for creating such a lovely atmosephere for what feels like an odd time in the world!

My wife and I have visited here several times, and also come with other family members - and brought a dog. The coffee and cakes are really good, but what makes the place special is the warm & friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly too,but still respecting hygiene. I do hope PipTree cafe survives the lockdown - it's a gem.

I adore The PipTree Cafe! I regularly come here on a Sunday brunch with friends and family. Delicious food 100% of the time and the coffee is to die for. I’m fussy when it comes to coffee, but at PipTree they use 200 degrees coffee and this is my favourite! I usually go for a quiche but tried the veggie breakfast; I’ve mostly avoided veggie full English breakfasts since becoming vegetarian in 2014, and this was a game changer! Lovely and attentive staff, rustic environment and excellent service even when busy.

In the grounds of a pleasant nursery (not a garden centre). Seating both inside and out. Snacks and light lunches.....not cheap but good quality plus good selection of drinks

For £7.50 in a cafe setting, I expect an exceptional breakfast, but I didn't get one. The sausage were overcooked to the point of being inedible. They looked liked they'd been cooked several hours ago & kept warm in the oven. The beans were to watery and were so hot, I believe them to have been microwaved. Not great.

Great choice, great service. It was very busy, that is always a good sign. Santa popped in to say hello! Would recommend the coffee, very good. Breakfast cobs looked amazing.

Myself and a friend have just visited this cafe for tea, cake and a chat up and must say it was freezing in there...most of the clientele in there were of the older generation and need warmth..Never been here before but was rather disappointed by the place it is very cramped and very cold.. sorry but I would think twice before visiting again...

Piptree is one of my favourite coffee shops, in a lovely setting, lovely food, a great cappuccino and very pleasant helpful staff. Always very busy. Well worth a visit.

Visited with a friend who lived close by, didn't even know it was in the area. Went in with the plan to have a drink but on entry the smells and look of the cakes on display were Fantastic. We both ordered the soup of the day which was leek and potato which arrived promptly with a warm cheese scone which was a welcomed surprise. It was delicious. Looking round the other food and cakes that came out looked delicious and presented well, will definitely be going back as it was a little treasure.

This cafe looks so nice and I was really looking forward to trying it! We were in a rush so couldn’t afford to sit in. The food took quite a while to come and was then wrong when it reached us. That wasn’t a problem. The coffee however didn’t arrive, so after almost 20 minutes I checked where this was as I assumed there had just been a mix up (it was quite busy). I didn’t receive the response I’d quite expected - the lady behind the till seemed to be accusing me of already having had the coffee (although the empty table we’d been waiting at was clearly in eyesight).

A great coffee stop on my usual Sunday morning cycle ride, probably the best coffee in the area, a great range of cakes and the warm cheese scones are a must.

First time visiting and will definitely be back! Iced latte and sausage con were delicious and the staff were really friendly and quick :) The cafe inside and the outdoor seating is gorgeous as well.

We visited again yesterday for lunch with our dog. Again pleasant staff and efficient service. It was very busy and extremely loud/noisy. Nice food presented well.

Would deffo return! My friend was ill while here and staff were so accommodating. Minus that hicup after he took his taxi, great place for a nice catch up for the rest of us.

My husband and I found this cafe through Trip Advisor and and have become regulars. The coffee is the best that we have found in Derby (200 degrees), the food is always excellent and the cakes are light and in generous portions. On sunny days you can sit outside so there is ample seating. The staff are always friendly and happy to accommodate changes to menu items and even when the queue is out of the door it is worth the wait!

Dog friendly. Had quiche and salad with homemade coleslaw. Coleslaw was pickled red cabbage with a bit of carrot. And the salad dressing was basically vinegar as well. Very disappointed.

Really pleased with breakfast here today! Lady was more than happy to sort me out a Slimming world friendly breakfast which can be quite tricky at other places! Really lovely little friendly cafe situated at the back of a garden centre. Would definitely recommend this cafe, all home cooked food and baked cakes too!

This is another great place for a coffee and lunch. A good menu of home cooked food. Friendly staff behind the counter and serving. This is popular and does get busy at lunchtime. That speaks volumes for its self.

We visited this cafe whilst visiting Collyers nursery for the first time. It is a lovely cafe and well set up. There is plenty of outdoor seating in a lovely setting. As I didn't go inside the cafe I cannot comment on the interior but my hubby informs me that the staff were really friendly and helpful. I had a fruit scone which was really fresh and came with jam and butter. My hubby had a bacon cob which he says was really fresh. His slight criticism is that there was only two small pieces of bacon and despite the cob being fresh it could have done with one extra piece of bacon which would have made a huge difference. This is in no way a criticism of the food as it was really fresh but this small fact would prevent him from ordering a bacon cob here again. The toilets for the cafe are round the back and they are up there with the absolute best toilets I have visited. Would we visit this cafe again ? Absolutely yes. I would have given 5 stars if there was extra bacon.

We were given a voucher for Collyer’s Nursery and came across their cafe Pip Tree. There was a nice selection of cakes, sandwiches and hot and cold snacks - I had a ploughman’s roll which was delicious. The ambiance was great with a Country feel and a lovely outside terrace. As a wheelchair user I appreciated the good access for disabled people, with an accessible toilet and ramped and level paths. Only downside was the gravel paths around the garden centre. As people had garden trolleys I would have thought a hard path was better - wheels and gravel do not go well together.

My husband has been ill for weeks. Tea and scones cheered us up. Lovely cafe and outside area . I will be bringing my daughters.

A few items missing due to lateness. Salmon and broccoli, and a bacon and mushroom quiches. Very good. Two very nice coffees. Staff friendly and helpful will go again.

Could not believe how things had altered, we thought it was just inside tables, we did manage to get a table for 2. After we had eaten and had our drinks, we ventured out a different door and was amazed at how much seating was outside, including some underneath a wooden shelter, other seats on patios, some on grass and others dotted around the garden. A really nice setting. Next visit will be for lunch.

Came from breakfast and although extremely busy the staff managed to fit us in. Only downside was that the breakfast ingredients were on the cheap side and it would have been nicer with better quality ingredients

We have visited here 3 times now and have always found it excellent. Always warm and the staff are always very pleasant and helpful. A nice vibe and atmosphere. We visited again yesterday for a lazy lunch and to probably buy a real Christmas tree from the garden centre, which we did. My Wife ordered the grilled halloumi sandwhich, avocado, tomato with basil pesto mayo. She is not a big bread eater so asked the young lady if she could have only 1 slice of bread and remove the avocado. Not a problem. To compensate for her not having the avocado, she was asked if she wanted anything more, to which she had an extra portion of pickled red cabbage slaw, which is the best we have ever tasted and is absolutely lovely. Basically, we find this place relaxing and the food is always hot and very good quality. Also, the staff make this place. It appears lots of regulars use this place too. We will be back soon. Keep up the good work.

Such a nice friendly place with the best cakes! Been a few times and never been disappointed. Last went here on my birthday and sat outside which was a nice treat. Will definitely be returning again soon!

Absolutely love PipTree - delicious cake - today I tried the gluten free mocha which was amazing - consistently good coffee and puppy friendly! The garden centre also has a very good range of gifts as well as plants and I was impressed with the range of cards too - someone has a very tasteful eye! Favourite place

We have visited this charming cafe on several occasions and we are always really impressed by the range of the menu and the enthusiasm of the staff.

Quite busy when I arrived but service from the mainly young staff was quick and efficient. Bacon and mushroom cob had plenty of filling, was tasty and washed down with a decent cup of coffee in very pleasant surroundings, nothing not to like about this cafe.

Went to this lovely cafe today for a brunch on my birthday. Got there just after opening and it was starting to get busy. Had a Mocha to drink which was lovely and creamy and had a full English breakfast. All cooked superbly. It was very hot and fresh. Beans were fresh (not thick and congealed like in some breakfasts I’ve had in the past) and the sausage and bacon were very high quality. I was too full after that, unfortunately, to try the tempting cakes on offer so I will definitely be back there. Thoroughly enjoyable and very reasonably priced. Less than £30 for 3 full breakfasts and 3 hot drinks.

Visited the café for the first time in very hot weather. There were lots of areas to choose from to sit both in and out, some in shade some not, the whole area was really characterful and a delight. The food choices were nice including a selection of homemade quiches, cheese on toast, paninis etc The prices were a little high but the food was of good quality and the service was quick and the staff very helpful and efficient. All over a very pleasant visit.

Cortado is my favourite type of coffee, it should be short and strong with equal measures of coffee and hot milk (Cortado means cut in Spanish 50/50).

Lovely freshly made food,absolutely delicious.I love this little cafe,it nevers fails to impress.They always have a lovely selection of cakes and their ploughman's lunch is awesome with fresh ingredients.They are a little bit on the pricey side,but I think you get what you pay for.

Server ont he till taking orders was a it dithery. Maybe not doing this for long.

I chose Pip Tree Cafe for a business meeting and was delighted from start to end. I had missed lunch and had a sandwich instead of a cake - though they all looked lovely.
