Have eaten in and had taken away from Pinto Thai! Always delicious and great service!

On Holidays in Devon and we stopped off at Newton Abbott for a few days, we came across this Thai Restaurant, and can honestly say the food was AMAZING, really tasty , service was ATTENTIVE, and food very well priced, The food was that good we went back the second night, for a feast, We all loved it..

Superb food, great service, really friendly and great value for money. The mixed starter was lovely and there was plenty of it, the mains were again lovely, especially the sweet and sour chicken, one of the best I can remember having, including the drinks the bill was incredibly reasonable. Thank you for a great time.

Great menu and never to disappoint, the tastes are always brilliant, and we usually just have takeaway but we came into dine, the staff were very happy and helpful.

This Thai is one of the best I have tried in the South West - the service was great and the choice was fabulous. When next visiting Newton Abbot we will be back without doubt. The wine was reasonable but the ONLY criticism is that there wasn't much choice by the glass.

A must try! Traditional Thai restaurant with exceptional service and incredibly tasty food. We have been celebrating a birthday and loved it, It was a fantastic experience if you are interested in trying something new.

At last, just when we had given up on Newton Abbot food outlets we discovered this Thai jewel. We moved here nearly three years ago and have been disappointed with every Indian restaurant here (especially Ghurkha Chef) and sadly all Fish and Chips outlets none of which can compare with those in Torbay. But Pinto Thai was 'magic'. Proper chicken , nicely carved, fragrant spices, delicate rice, proper vegetables well prepared and cooked. Subtle flavourings. There were five of us really enjoying different meals and all of us so pleased that finally we'd found somewhere we will return to in Newton Abbot. And, as a bonus, the meals were ready at the time promised, the premises were clean and welcoming and the staff were simply lovely. Pinto Thai is an example to other local restaurants of just how well things can be done. Kudos!

This is the best takeaway we’ve had. The food is so full of flavour and even though it’s a 10 minute journey home it’s always still super hot by the time we get home. We would recommend it to anyone. It’s our new favourite.

Having been to Thailand and fallen in love with the food. We were absolutely blown away with the authenticity of Pinto Thai's food. Massaman curry is my absolute favourite and in eating it I could close my eyes and be taken back to Bangkok. The service was very natural and with the the right amount of attention. The fact that they also do a takeaway service means this will become a regular place to eat in the future.

Our first visit since they reopened as a restaurant. Having been to Thailand and loved their food I can say without doubt, the food took me straight back to the streets of Bangkok. I can recommend the massaman curry (as authentic as it gets). Prompt service with attentive but not too in your face. Lovely decor and a wonderful experience that exceeded my expectations. Will be visiting this place a lot.

Fantastic to see that Pinto Thai is open again for dining in. They stopped the restaurant service during Covid to focus on takeaway but as of late march 2023 are open again to diners. Situated on Newton Abbot's infamous 'Take Away Alley', this wipes the floor with all the other restaurants on Queen Street - even the very good Ghurkha. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone (this vegan is extremely well-catered for) but when they say a dish is 'three chilli' spicy, they mean it, so tread carefully! Delightful staff and, trust me, it's a cut above any other Thai in south Devon.

Pinto may have switched to takeaway only, but it has maintained its high standards. The menu looks a little overwhelming (it runs to 68 items!) but has some brilliant options. We had the Option C (Vegetarian and Vegan selection) which includes the absolutely delicious Tofu in Choo Chee Curry Sauce, the brilliantly tasty basil leaf fried rice and the excellent Green Curry Mixed Veg. At seventeen quid per person, it will feed you for two or three meals , which is super value, I think. The meat eaters in the family enjoyed their food too. Highly recommended.

Friday evening takeaway after a few beers in town. Excellent. Only dish I probably wouldn’t order again was the squid rings. Although the squid was very tender the rings were huge and too much breadcrumb coating. Chicken sate was lovely as was the pork pad Thai and king prawn curry. Will order from there again.

Everyone should try this food, it is amazing, and fast, very short wait. Tried by accident when some fella was kicking off outside now my new favourite takeaway. I might even start carrying a fork just in case the opportunity arises so I don't have to wait to eat at home. Should be one of the seven wonders of Newton Abbot.

Had to settle on a takeaway whilst working in the area and hotel not serving food. Glad I chose Pinto Thai. The service was very good, efficient and friendly. The food was really enjoyable, the best takeaway I’ve had in a while. I went for the Khang ped with beef which tasted great. The beef could have been a bit more tender, but it wasn’t bad in any way. I’d definitely recommend.

Since lockdown my husband and I have been ordering from Pinto Thai. The food is always consistent in quality and extremely tasty, the staff are lovely and friendly too! We quite simply wouldn't go anywhere else.

Really not very nice, definitely not returning. We decided to get takeaway as a treat as we’re in tier three at the moment but it wasn’t a treat.

Nice food and environment. A good place but I would try other places before returning, hence 3 stars. We ate in. Dishes were around £8 each, portion sizes ok but not huge. Reasonable value therefore. Flavours perfectly good but not hugely outstanding. Wine choices fairly limited. Food arrived exceptionally quickly. Overall if you want a reasonable priced, reasonable quality Thai meal, in a reasonable setting, this is a reasonable choice!

Pinto Thai is now only doing take away so I cannot rate as a restaurant. In the past if you bought a take away from here you got 10% discount on collection. Now they have not only increased the prices but they have stopped giving any discount. We ordered 1 starter 2 mains with 1 rice. At almost £27 that is not cheap for a take away, in fact we can eat in locally with alcoholic drinks included for less. There is no doubt that the food is good, not the best Thai food, but good. However you need to offer the customer good value for money. The one item that was shockingly bad value was the starter, £5.90 for spare ribs. If there had been a decent portion it would be one thing, but there was only 4 ribs for £5.90! that is almost £1.50 per rib! And although they were very tasty, there should have been twice the size of portion. Unless Pinto Thai improves their value, I will not be returning.

At last, our favourite restaurant has reopened (takeaway only, for now). Still as good as ever.

Due to COVID-19 this restaurant is now only doing takeaway. We celebrated my daughters birthday with a Thai meal and had a fabulous massanman curry and a pad Thai with spring rolls. Delicious. 10 out of 10. would recommend. The portion sizes were very good. The food was very tasty, lots of flavour. The staff were very nice and polite -we will definitely be returning in the future and recommending to friends.

Best Thai restaurant around to get authentic, good tasting Thai cuisine. We've been converted from our usual Chinese and Indian as the food is so good. Only problem is that it's now becoming a weekly habit!

Visiting my daughter, she was keen to bring us here as her favourite eating place.She has good judgement, having spent some time in Thailand. This little gem deserves to be supported. Not many tables, they have resisted the temptation to squeeze in another, which would detract from the experience.Excellent food with prompt, friendly, service and constuctive advice on their dishes and no pressure to make quick decisions.The lamb shank special was impressive in both size and flavour!The portion sizes are generous, so I could not manage a sweet, so no starter next time.Decent selection of drinks appropriate to the food.Not cheap but excellent value for money. Will certainly revisit.

Settled down for the 'vegetarian' set meal for two, only to learn - by chance - that it's not at all vegetarian (could be described as pescatarian) as it contains shrimps (or shrimp oil). This is the sort of 'mix-up' in description and labelling about which the Vegetarian Society of the UK (to which we would respectfully refer this restaurant for better understanding of the terminology) has been trying to educate food outlets for YEARS! We left disappointed and annoyed at their 'nobody has ever complained' attitude, which I'm afraid we could only regard as ill-informed. Heaven help anybody with a fish allergy (although this is not the case for us) because there was nothing written next to this particular set menu to indicate fish and the heading 'Vegetarian' was completely misleading. Really?...in this day and age...with the allergy horror stories which have been in the news??!

Really pleasant atmosphere. Calm music, simple and tasteful decor. We went in early evening and mid week, and had good service and very tasty food. I wish I had ordered more accompanying dishes to try as all very nice.

Have not beenoverly impressed in the past with my experience of Thai cuisine but Pinto Thai has me converted. Have now enjoyed several meals there with family members and on all occasions found the whole experience very satisfying. The food is of a high standard and the flavours of each dish discernible, not some mish mash of ingredients swimming in sauce as can be the case.My latest meal was a chicken Gai satay starter and a fish main Pla rad prik, both scrummy and a shared dessert of pancakes. Portions are not excessive but fiiling to a nice level so that you don't feel stuffed to the hilt. Very friendly service and compliments to the chef met with him offering his thanks personally. Simple atmosphere and clean environment. Will be on a return visit early December 19 hopefully.

just fabulous food great service and very reasonable,the Tom Yum soup was just delicious then I had the Pad Ped which was also lovely with massive prawns.My partner had a giant king prawn curry and he just loved it his starter was spring rolls freshly made

Took my wife as I have been to Pinto before with a good friend and it was great then. Booked a table for the two of us. Smiley waitress showed us to our table. We ordered 3 starters and two mains. The service was great and the food was outstanding. We will definitely return. Thank you Pinto.

Regular visitors from Starcross to this great little Thai restaurant, sometimes 4 times a month! The food is superb and flavours authentic and some great quality wines. Such a friendly and welcoming team who will always do their best to accommodate individual tastes. The waitress, Julianna, works so hard in the restaurant as the team in the kitchen cook up amazing dishes. So pleased to have discovered Pinto Thai.......please don't change! K & J

As a local we have been going to this stunning little restaurant for several years. We have never had a meal that was average or substandard. The food is divine, beautifully cooked to perfection and of superb sized portions for little money in comparison to other restaurants. It is owned and run by a family who are the most helpful and loveliest people you would want to meet. The menu is vast and superb for vegetarians and meat eaters.

Probably our favourite Thai in Devon! Smart service and outstanding food. Always on our list to visit when we are close by.....

Absolutely Brilliant. The staff were so helpful - they can adjust the strength levels of any of their dishes to clients' tastes. I had a coconut based chicken dish and it was superb.

Newton Abbot is without doubt a culinary backwater. I know, I was born and raised there. I not only had to put up with my Mum’s varied efforts with mince, I had to endure some of the worst pub and restaurant food known to mankind.

Found this little gem on a trip away, great food and lovely customer service. Will definitely go again when next in the area.

Newton Abbot continues to surpise us with the range of cuisines along Queen Street from the parochial fish 'n' chips and kebab houses to some really nice Asian offerings. Pinto Thai sits before the main drag and may easily be missed but is worth a try.

It's a menu to cover all tastes and pallets, no bland flavoring here, spiced correctly and with massive variants in all the dishes, the service was great and fun, not stuffy at all, even the beer is a reasonable price!

....and each visit (every 2 months or so) the food has been superb, service great and a very relaxed dining experience.

Visited on the off chance the other day, I have to say it was arguably the best Thai I have ever had. The food was genuine and scrumptious it was well seasoned and amazing quality. The waitress was also friendly, kind and helpful.

We came back to this area and looked up an old favourite restaurant.Not exspecting to much we were delighted to find the restaurant flourishing better than ever,definitely we are back in March and will eat here again excellent.

We have been here a couple of times, it may not look posh but the food is fantastic, the service fantastic and even the bill was nice.

The place is fairly small and the decor relatively simple, but this is still my favourite restaurant in Newton Abbot. My friend and I dined recently. Delicious Thai food, satisfactory portions, pleasant service.

We used to order take away at least twice a month about £40 minimum each time and it was great. After a couple of months I asked if they could throw in a bag of crackers 'on the house' to which they refused and said that the boss didn't let them do that. I went in a couple of times after that but never a single gesture of good will! One bag of crackers would have kept a good customer... now I go to Tean's Thai kitchen which have outstanding service.

Located within easy reach parking and we booked in advance but Sunday had only 3 or 4 other sets of diners whilst we were in.

Four of us once again decided to meet up for another evening meal out. Our friend booked a table for the four of us here at Pinto Thai .We were greeted by a lovely lady at the bar and served drinks. What I thought was good was that she recommended what was the best Rice to have with our main meals. We all had starters which were very generous portions, Then the mains came out which were very filling and hot. Price including the drinks was very good value and will not hesitate returning here again. Many thanks to all the staff at Pinto Thai.

Have only had takeaway from here and not eaten in restaurant but always found the food (and service) to be great. As with most Thais the food is a bit more expensive than the usual Chinese but you do get 10% off takeaway. We generally get pad thais, massaman curries and a range of starters. Food always tastes freshly prepared and really tasty.

I've tried so many of the Thai restaurants in the Devon area and this has become my go to place for an all around wonderful experience. The service is very freindly, the ambiance is top notch and the food is the best thing of all. Always leave feeling really happy :)

Met up with one of my pals and we both agreed on Thai! We originally were going to Tean's but on Sundays they were closed so we came to Pinto instead and they didn't disappoint! Food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and good service. We will return.

Ate last night with my husband our first visit we will return definatly. great service ..great food.. great flavours . no fuss .

We took friends that haven’t been here before, so they were expecting a great time. We arrived and the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. We were sat and ordered drinks. The Chang beer is always really chilled which is just how it should be. We ordered lots of mixed starters and a main course each. From the starters the Thai fish cakes have to be the highlight, however the squid and soft shell crab were also amazing. The mains were every bit as good as the starters and everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service was super as always and all four of us ate and drank more than plenty for just over £100. Big thumbs up all round and we’ll most definitely be back again.

Introduced to this with Nook and Colin. Great venue, wonderful selection. Sea bass is fab but you must pre-order. Cosy and good, will be back next time down there. best to book as it does get very busy as it is popular.

Ended up here purely by chance as our usual Chinese a few doors down was closed for holidays. Wandered up the road & found Pinto. Menu looked good & nice & bright inside - none of the usual spray-on gilt!

Having read the reviews I was expecting good things. And to be honest - I was a bit disappointed. Food was cooked nicely but some dishes lacked flavour. My wife said the seafood and vegetables where cooked beautifully but the noodles that accompanied them were a congealed mess (and she left most of them).

I can't praise this unpretentious little restaurant highly enough. I believe the chef is the owner which would explain the consistently high quality. The special starters are superb especially the squid and my favourite main of Giant prawns in a yellow sauce is amazing.
