Coljan in Teignbridge

Coljans is a wonderful all the quality restaurant with delicious food and particularly friendly and warm atmosphere. I always enjoyed visiting.

We had a full English breakfast today. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. The breakfast was outstanding. All home made including baked beans in tomato sauce. Delicious high quality sausages, black pudding and bacon and a perfectly poached egg. At £12 it was excellent value for the quality of the meal. I would have paid more 😊

Interesting take on an old favourite! Ordered Ham egg and chips, but got a really different meal. Ham was two thick gammon roundels, egg was like a scotch egg ,but without the sausage meat, but best bit was the pineapple chutney. It had a real savoury bite. At lunchtime , it was surprisingly not busy. Service was friendly and helpful.

Went here for lunch on my much looked forward to annual Christmas shopping trip with my son. Friendly, Warm and cosy with excellent food. Definitely recommend.

Very central and close to parking. Only had some midweek breakfast but also had a look at both menus in case we might be looking for lunch or supper. The space inside is relaxed, touching on homely. Service efficient although a bit quick and matter of fact so can’t judge friendliness. On our morning the clientele was mostly older. Nothing wrong with the taste and value of our sandwich based breakfast. The more substantial food choices for the day and evening seemed OK although we would have liked to see a two or three course fixed price option.

We had a fantastic meal at Coljan: I particularly enjoyed the parmesan dusted fries and the homemade mint and chocolate ice cream but all the dishes were faultless: full of flavour, imaginatively presented and good value for money.

Very pleasant with a nice,but basic, menu. Venison and Ale pie was excellent, however the ham, egg and chips had issues. You would expect a few slices of ham with chips and a couple of fried eggs. The ham was a chunk of gammon, very tasty but sweet. The egg was the problem, it was a breaded, fried soft egg where the centre was uncooked and cold. The white surrounding the yolk was uncooked. It came with a splash of pea puree. Not a good meal. Also, our order was misunderstood and we were originally served two pies, so the wait was quite long. One point that was a plus is they take dogs.

I visited for both morning coffee, and later, supper. Then lunch the next day too, I was that impressed. Excellent service. The wine list is very good. And the food delicious. For supper I enjoyed the Brixham scallops served with small pieces of fried hogs pudding. Cheeseboard to follow - perfect. And for lunch a sausage roll with sides of parsnip crisps and coleslaw (the coleslaw imaginative (incorporating red cabbage?). And the sausage roll was magnificent! Congratulations and thanks to Michelle and Nathan Siddell the owners, and the chef that day, Chris, and lovely service team.

Never been before. Met a friend last night for a catch up. Very welcoming, very accommodating and really comfortable. Food and service were excellent. I don't normally like entertainment but there was a classic guitarist playing and it was gentle, soft and actually very good. The decor is lovely and the window displays are amazing. I would thoroughly recommend and will be going back. Would suggest you book in advance as very popular.

We had had another venue in Ashburton recommended to us for breakfast but that was full, so we went for a wander and found Coljan instead. We're very glad we did! Lovely venue and a short, interesting selection for breakfast. The eggs florentine went down a treat and my vegan breakfast was excellent, especially the greens! I’m not a vegan by the way, but it was so nice to see something a little different on a breakfast menu and there was nothing on the plate not to like. The coffee was excellent as well, full of flavour with no bitterness which so often marrs the taste in my opinion. Living in Exeter it’s a bit further than we's normally go to have breakfast, but it was well worth it. Good value for money and very pleasant staff as well.

We ate at Coljan last week during our stay in Ashburton and had a lovely evening. The food, the service, the ambience were all brilliant. I have a food intolerance and the staff were really helpful in showing me what I could eat from the menu and even altered one of the dishes specially for me. Great service! This was definitely the best restaurant experience during our week in Dorset and Devon.

Absolutely stunning family run restaurant. Attentive, friendly staff, short but interesting menu made with quality ingredients. We started with the pork crackling and apple sauce nibbles along with the homemade bread with marmite butter (weird but fab!), the ham hock terrine was also a winner. Mains: we had the catch of the day special which was amazing and two of us had the pork chop with mustard mash and peaches - wow wow wow!!!! Puds: lemon panna cotta with madeleines was delicious but I’m told that the plum roly poly was the best! Well worth a visit - we’ll definitely be back.

Delicious. Best breakfast i think i ever had. Beans not to my liking a bit too spicy with the chorizo. but everything else fresh produce cooked beautifull.Just enough food. Not too much. Bread is homemade. If summer high season expect to wait at least 30 minutes
