Great food. There were lots of items not available, so we ordered all the small plates between us, all good.

We popped in for a late-ish lunch, sufficiently late to include a bottle of wine anyway. Very nice smashed sausage muffin and salmon bagel, both really tasty. Service was somewhat slow, took a while to come and take our order, quite a wait for food too. Didn't matter to us as we were on a leisurely day but could be a concern if you need to get back to office or something. Also, knowing we would be in the area I tried booking online a week beforehand but it was apparently all booked up, despite it being a dreary February Thursday. As we passed today we popped in "on spec" and were easily accommodated in the half empty dining area. Will happily return again cos it's good food in a nice relaxed venue in a lovely locale with several watering holes and eateries nearby as well.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch today. The roast beef was really tender , served with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, followed be a light waffle with chocolate sauce and ice cream, and coffee to finish. My thanks to James who made us laugh and gave a great recommendation for a red wine. Thanks for looking after us so well and a lovely afternoon all on our doorstep

A nice environment and although the food was good, it wasn’t great for the price paid (steak was rather tasteless). Someone needs to fit a self closer to the outside door, as this causes a vey unpleasant draft through the restaurant - spoiling the night really!

Took my husband here mid-week for a birthday breakfast. Never ate breakfast here. It was gorgeous. My husband had the full brekky and I had the smashed sausage and cheese muffin. Staff are always nice here. It was the woman with pink hair who is so friendly. Thank you!

Pretensious menu that begged questions about what the food is. Food was well prepared but was served over 20 minutes so some of us had finished when some of us were just getting our food. Food was good

I have eaten here 3 times. If this place was in my home town I would eat here at least once a week. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and the wine list is terrific. The staff are great too. I can’t praise this place enough.

Four of us arrived for an 8pm booking on Saturday night thinking we could choose from their menu. Standard procedure right? We were told there was one portion of fish and chips and one burger bun left in the whole restaurant! The only choice the rest of our party had was pie or chicken. And then when we came to order pudding there was only one portion of crème brûlée!! With such a limited menu I’d expect a restaurant to be capable operating properly and to heat the place properly!! My husband sat with his coat on he was so cold. A lot of money for a naff experience. We won’t be returning.

4 people arrived for pre booked evening dinner. It was probably one third full with two female staff We were greeted and shown to our table and waited quite a while to be asked to order drinks which arrived We waited quite a while to order our meals. 2 Calamari to share between 4. We had to ask for side plates to share the food It was explained to us that there were limitations on meals. Only 1 fish left and they only Had 1 bun left for the burgers bearing in mind they offer about 6 different burgers. We enjoyed the food but the service was pathetic as we had to keep trying to get the attention of the waitress. At this point we were the only guests and only 1 waitress. It was getting to the point that we were going to leave the table and walk over to attract her attention. The whole place was freezing cold without any atmosphere and ordering the food was a joke. Needless to say one and only visit

I had a great time at pinion. I’ve been for both breakfast and tea and both times the food was absolutely amazing everything tasted very fresh. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and super relaxed. The staff were fantastic too. They were always checking in to make sure we had what we needed, but in a way that felt natural and not over the top. They were friendly and really added to the good vibes of the night. Would highly recommended pinion :)

Fantastic restaurant, each time service exceeds expectations.

First time visiting and we had a great time. Lovely food, great service and atmosphere. Prices are great, I had a two course meal for £23. Will definitely be back.

Great place to visit as a breakfast venue - served up to 11:45 before the Bistro menu kicks in. The smashed avocado on a bagel and a pot of tea was spot on for a mid morning snack. Friendly, efficient staff on hand to assist and generally chat to. Note the irregular opening times earlier in the week.

We ate here for the first time tonight & we are seriously impressed. The server was lovely, she & the kitchen took my food allergy really seriously and both helped me with my food choice (even checking I’d enjoyed it afterward - which I really did). I love the selection of drinks and every bit of food we had, even down to the olives ordered for the table, was so tasty We’re already planning our next visit and we’ve got a big birthday coming up which we’re hoping to now have here Loved it from start to finish - thanks so much

I had a pre theatre menu. The service was friendly. It was very efficient. The atmosphere was great, bearing in mind we dined early. However, I thought the food was too greasy for me. The portions were great.

This was our first time visiting Pinion Bistro. Saturday afternoon around 1pm. It appears that several places in the area have benefited from and cashed in on the nearby Shakespeare Theatre opening. Several items on the menu had a Shakespearian name plus they offer pre-theatre menu options. The food was very nice. We both had Burgers (Olivia and Tybalt) and then Cheesecake and Sundae for dessert. We liked the look of most things on the menu. Kids menu available and Sunday Roast. The restaurant seems out of place for the area, hopefully this and other new businesses will draw in customers and other new businesses to help restore Prescott as a quality town to visit.

Sunday roast absolutely lovely. Waffle and Ice cream with caramel sauce. Also Creme brulee amazing

Why do you eat out? Nice setting? Great service? Superb food? Pinion has all 3, whether it's breakfast, Sunday dinner or an evening treat, you can't go wrong. The Sunday dinner is better than Hawksmoor (with the addition of a cauliflower cheese it would be untouchable) The team are led by James, a master of reading a room, balancing scathing wit with genuine warmth. If you haven't been, go, you get what you pay for, quality ingredients cooked by people that know what they are doing and clearly care delivered by a great team.

Waited over an hour for the food chicken burger come out pink and raw all around the edges got told it was meant to be like that

We had a fantastic pre theatre dinner here. Lovely menu, always a well curated wine and drinks list with this restaurant group too. Food was superb, well presented and delicious. Will definitely return.

My son treated me to lunch here on Thursday afternoon the food and service was amazing the Scouse pie was the best pie I have ever tasted the only reason for the two stars for atmosphere is because there was only the two of us in there I am sure at busy times it would be buzzing will certainly be coming back

Another amazing meal at Pinion, this time breakfast which they have just started doing. Quality of food was superb as always, with a good choice on offer at reasonable prices. Important when there are 4 of you. Buttermilk chicken waffles are a new favourite. Think this may just be our new go to breakfast place!

My review is based on the food. The front of house service was excellent. However, the food was very very poor, the starter of the black pudding was adequate but tasted deep fried and the texture was not brilliant, the main was even worse, the chicken thighs were so over cooked they were basically dry and inedible, the coating was far to crisp, Kentucky is much better, I left mostly all my main and the fries were just the frozen type. Unfortunately I couldn't give a higher food review as it's some of the worst I've tasted, very disappointing and can't see me returning anytime soon.

Absolutely fantastic!! We went before going to Shakespeare North for The Book of Will and a guest event. James is hilarious, and all the staff are really attentive. The menu is so different to anything I have seen before. It was piping hot and just wonderfully tasty. Will definitely be going back again. Loved it!!! Well done. X

Absolutely brilliant meal. Not just the food but the staff. The front of house was James I think? He was so welcoming and he made me laugh. We had Sunday Lunch and it was by far the best I’ve ever had.

Beautiful food, amazing experience. A big shout out to James the waiter, informed us that he was the only one on and could be a delay in getting food, very professional attitude. His banter and hosting made a nice night out for my wife birthday. I have lived in Prescot for most of my childhood and growing up and glad to see a place like this in the town. First time experience since I've moved the wait did not disappoint. Keep up the amazing work

We celebrated our anniversary at Pinion last night and so happy we decided to dine locally rather than usually travelling to Manchester or Liverpool. The food and service was absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to go back there again. Thank you for the wonderful food and exceptional hospitality….see you soon!

Here for Sunday lunch and it was superb. Greeted by a great scouse man who made us smile and did so throughout the meal! Lady who served us was very lovely too. Excellent food - best restaurant beef I’ve tasted for years. Great ambience Not the cheapest nor dearest - got value for money and we will be back very soon. It was full and this was mid afternoon on a Sunday.

Like many commentators on TripAdvisor we went to the Pinion for a pre-theatre meal before going to the nearby Shakespeare Playhouse North. We had an excellent meal and at £24 for two courses it was great value for money. The restauiant is only small so it is necessary to book. The menu is small but enticing. For a starter I had Stornoway black pudding which was excellent, as was my wife's beetroot salad. One of the main courses was "crispy salt and pepper seitan". I had no idea what this was but the waitress told me. It is a vegetarian meat-substitute protein which in my opinion does not sound very appealing (and I am not a vegetarian or vegan) but I thought I would try it. It was a fantastically tasty dish bursting with exotic flavours and quite spicy. I would highly recommend it. My wife had the "fish sandwich" which she said was light and tasty. The offer includes a glass of wine, beer or a non-alcoholic peach and elderflower fizz. A very nice touch. Service was very good. Unfortuantely there was some sort of delay with my starter which meant that we did not have time for a dessert. I was told that this was the case and I appreciate that sometimes such things happen. The staff managed my expectations professionally. Next time I go to the theatre in Prescot I will probably go to Pinion again.

We went for pre theatre dinner and absolutely couldn't fault this place. The menu was varied and interesting and at £24 for two courses or £27 for three both including a small glass of wine, it was amazing value. Like the other bistros in this group, the menu has a relatively small selection but that's because it's all fresh and seasonal and delicious. Definitely avoid if what you like is run-of-the-mill menus with the boring predictables on them. WE all had something different and each was really tasty, perfectly cooked and well presented. The staff are so welcoming and light-hearted that the whole experience is great! I left my credit card behind and they couldn't have been more helpful trying to contact me. When I only realised during the interval that they'd be shut by the time the play finished, the saintly waiter even ran up to the theatre with my card. For a midweek night there were lots of non-theatre diners there too which shows how good this place is! We'll definitely be back

Just had a fabulous meal in this lovely restaurant. Not been here for a long time due to a number of reasons but wanted to eat here again and as always it didn’t disappoint. Gorgeous food, very friendly and helpful staff and reasonable prices. Wish I still lived nearby because I would be a regular.

The food was great and the staff were lovely. The restaurant is very close to the theatre so perfect for a pre theatre meal.

Service and food were excellent. I had the roast beef Sunday lunch, the roast potatoes were fluffy and the beef was cut into fine slices and not overcooked, there was plenty of it and the cabbage was delicious. My partner had the lamb burger with tomatoes and new potatoes which he said was delicious. James welcomed us with his wit and friendly manner, it’s a while since I last visited but I won’t wait so long next time.

Visited pre-theatre even tho they don’t do a special menu on a Saturday. I had the chicken which was perfectly cooked with an interesting sauce (just enough on the top of the chicken) lovely side salad and great chips. Had a excellent glass of Viognier to wash it down, all excellent value. My friend had a delicious salmon Caesar salad with lovely dressing and a Thai fish cake which was very tasty. We’ll definitely be back! Great service as well!

Just got back from a fabulous lunch time experience at this bespoke culinary oasis in the heart of Prescot. The food was outstanding... as was the service from James who runs the restaurant with military precision laced with his unique charm and good humour. We would highly recommend his restaurant to anyone with a love of good food, a love of a welcoming atmosphere and an appreciation of good service delivered with a sense of humour. We will return, again and again and would highly recommend!👍🏼

Wanted somewhere for Father's Day that wouldn't disappoint and it didn't. This is the 3rd time I've eaten here, travelling from Chester, home of many wonderful restaurants. Service with James was superb - attentive and considerate without being intrusive - and the Sunday roast beef was amazing followed by the honeycomb ice cream. He recommended a new bottle of white which was absolutely fab, we tasted it before buying. It was full without being too noisy with plenty of space round each table. This place just seems to be getting better.

We have just had a lovely lunch in one of our favourite places. The updated menu made choosing a deliciously difficult decision. Nothing was too much trouble for our fabulous host James; from letting us taste the wine recommendation to gifting us an extra yorkshire pudding. It was superb service with a smile and a smattering of sassy humour. We highly recommend a (return) visit as soon as possible. Keep up the splendid work James and the backroom boys. Piñon new Summer menu looked forward to trying new dishes. I’m without hesitation recommending the chorizo and almond starter do not miss this was so authentic Spanish dish, I also tried one of the salads salmon Caesar, served with croutons and the perfect boiled egg ! The food is always hot and I always experienced such positive hospitality, staff at Pinon want you to have the best experience, James knowledge of the wines on offer is so refreshing to find, and he is efficient and is always attentive with the guests he serves. My partner first saw the restaurant on instagram and he’d been waiting for an opportunity to visit as the food looked so wonderful. We were the only ones in the restaurant upon arrival and the decor looked really modern and fresh. The service on the other hand was another matter, I got the distinct impression that we weren’t partially welcome and I certainly felt uncomfortable. When ordering the food (which was passable at best) we mentioned we’d like some ketchup. We were told by the server that “I’m silently judging you for the ketchup” which was accompanied by a disdainful look. After hearing this we decided that we weren’t going to spend any more of our hard earned money on dessert. The server must have realised his error as when we were paying he decided to turn on the charm, which was too little to late for me. Suffice to say we won’t be returning in the future.

Excellent meal, lovely setting . I wanted one of the starters as a main and they were happy to make it large for me. The bread is amazing . James makes you feel welcome and is an asset to the place

We really enjoy going to Pinion, we last ate there a couple of nights ago. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality. The food, as always, was cooked to perfection. James is always friendly and is knowledgeable about the menu, and goes above and beyond when waiting on. I highly recommend Pinion, not only for the great tasting food but also for the fantastic service provided!

I do not expect to be kindly offered a GF alternative for the theatre menu to realise after that I was charged £2.50 more than if I'd ordered a la carte!! Main £14 desert £7.50 - charged £24..... The 10% service charge was added automatically, meaning you have to ask if you don't want to pay. Make sure you clearly ask for tap water, otherwise you will get a bottle costing £4. These "errors" added £12.50 to our bill....! Be warned there are very few gluten free options on the theatre menu, and they don't have gluten free bread.

What an amazing meal we had tonight !! Honestly from the starter to the dessert was absolutely spot on. The food was incredible and the service complimented it perfectly 🥰. What a pleasant surprise and our new favourite local restaurant xxx

We've been here many times for lunch and always had very good food. I wouldn't call it "cheap" but it's not that expensive and the food is usually worth the very slight premium.

Our first visit ( sat eve) and the restaurant was busy at 7.45 and probably full before we left, lots of praise for the waiter very professional, pleasant and overworked me thinks, we were seated close too the window and was feeling a chill for a while until some heating came on. the menu isn't huge but my partner and I ordered prawn cocktail starters , the beef cutlet and peri peri chicken for mains and my partner had a very small desert ( a type of cheesecake) after our starter arrived there was quite a wait for the main's to arrive but it was a busy evening.... I've given 3 stars for my chicken dish as it was basically a seasoning shake/ rub on the skin and none of the flavoring had reached the chicken below ( which was perfectly cooked ) the fries were tasty but I was basically eating just 'chicken & chips' My partners beef was tender ( but small as was the prawn cocktails ) and she enjoyed it alongside the rustic wedges ( but no vegatable's with either dish) I had a small bottle of lager and 2 glasses of rose wine for the lady and the bill includes an unexpected 8% service charge which didn't impress me to be honest so our bill was £92.50, I'm sure many people would be fine with that but I found it a tad over the top for the food we had.....

The veggie starter was delicious, could have eaten that all night until fit to burst, the other veggie starter was a bit also ran……my meat main was tasty but came out just above room temp in a cold night, obviously been sat around waiting for...

Back in my home town for a short visit, finally had the opportunity to try out Pinion for a quick bite at lunch. Dropped in on spec and was fortunate enough as a lone diner to have a table free, was immediately at ease due to the super friendly but also professional service. Chose to go straight for the main and had a butter roasted pork rib eye, gambling that it wouldn't be overcooked and dry but needn't have worried it was succullent and tasty, one of the best pieces of pork I'd had for some time. Accompanied with a light hash brown, perfectly cooked poached egg on top and a zingy pineapple and chilli chutney, I accompanied it with a side of seasonally spiced red cabbage which finished it all off perfectly. Overall more than lived up to what I'd hoped Gary and the team would deliver - will be bringing my wife back next time!
