We had an Itison voucher so came in here for lunch and to taste Lithuanian food. Very interesting and different menu. Didn't seem to serve wine but the litres of Lithuanian craft beer were great- around £9-11 a bottle. Opted for a selection of food - layered herring salad at £7.40, octopus bites at £8.95 and a beer platter at £16.90 containing fried bread and cheese and others.. Food was very very filling and I think we over-ordered. Finished with a pud at £6.50 so think we managed most of the tastes. Lovely couple running the restaurant. Very friendly and helpful. Would recommend as something different.

Good place to get Lithuanian food and some other popular food from former Soviet Union republics. I tried fried rye bread and layered herring salad, both were very good. I also liked the Lithuanian porter. The interior of the restaurant is stylish and dramatic.

What caught our eye about this place was the menu advertised online. Duck meat parcels! Salads! Salmon! Schnitzel! It looked fantastic! We arrived at 18:45 for our 19:00 reservation and were seated right away in the place, which looked comfortably busy. We were given the menus. And then we realised we have fallen for a hot line of advertising. The menu was not only changed. The menu was not only abbreviated. It was also devoid of everything we were interested in. It was also devoid of much apart from potato. Just about everything on the menu seemed to be potato. The single waiter came to us after 20 mins to ask about water and drinks. The cocktails listed had no clue on them as to what they contained. It was explained to us that they liked this to be a surprise to the customer. I am sure that being served a cocktail for a tenner that you would have known in advance that you wouldn't like would come as a substantial surprise. Bad idea. Very bad idea. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. The single waiter was run off his feet, but seemed to retain a fairly happy demeanour, whereas his colleague on the bar was working at a rate that would strike a sloth as being a tad slow. I've often found that bar work is slowed down dramatically when you only using one hand, because the other hand is using a phone that is glued to your ear. And no, it wasn't business - unless someone was inexpertly tapping out their preferences in Beginner's Morse. Yes, we were watching you. The mirror on the back wall sees all. Oh yes. The beer was quite good - I had a litre of dark that bore a striking resemblance to Newcastle Brown. Really good. Eventually, after 30 mins - food arrived. For starters we had Octopus Bites and the Bacon and Peas. The octopus was okay, but the bacon and peas were a bit odd. The peas were yellow split peas and gave the distinct impression of being quite undercooked. The meat was also a bit stringy and seemed to have rind or fat still on it. Maybe that was intentional. It tasted fine through. Another thirty minute wait ensued. The bar worker vanished from sight and the sole waiter seemed to be left adrift. Nothing seemed to be coming out quickly, but he was sure doing his best to serve whatever he was given. Time passed. A gentle fly committed suicide in my beer. I knew how it felt. Customers kept turning up. The waiter sat them all. I was just wondering how and when they were ever going to be served. The table next to us settled their bill and left. The table was never cleared. The waiter was run off his feet and simply had no time. That made it all look really tatty. The mains arrived over an hour after we had arrived. The Kiev was fine, but the Potato Pancakes were a stodgy mush that fell apart under cottage cheese which had turned it all into an unpleasant swamp. The smoked salmon on top was okay, but any part that touched the pancakes - which were served blazing hot, yet still managed to be stodge - started to cook. Another bad idea. Worse was the side of Bac=ked Cheese. I had envisioned hot cheese straight out the over. What you got was stone cold, dry, sliced bits of cheese that had not seen heat since they were smoked, Baked cheese it was not. It was also just about inedible. Sadly, we got no more drinks because we were offered no more water and the prospect of waiting another 20 mins for a drink was more than we could stand. (The pickled cucumber was fine enough, I should add) The whole experience took an hour and three quarters and would have cost us eighty quid were it not for the voucher we had bought. The food was only really half edible and was unbelievably stodgy for the most part. Maybe that it what Lithuanian food is all about - I don't know - but that plus the enormous waiting makes this one to avoid. I get the feeling that having the place horribly understaffed in the front (and presumably in the kitchen, if the service is any example) to the extent that dirty tables are not cleared, and the menu being decimated the way it was doesn't give me a lot of confidence in this establishment. The food is mediocre to put it kindly and their service (which carries a 10% charge on your bill) leaves a lot to be desired. There are better places around than this.

Firstly, why is Mr Curly Stuff allowed to write the same review twice and how did he get into the kitchen to know how many staff are in there as there’s no kitchen on the main floor!!! This guy has intentionally made a false review obviously due to a personal issue! Sad to say racism still exists! Anyway, onto my experience. I went for my birthday and WOW WOW WOW. The chicken wings and pineapple sauce was amazing. I had the salmon and wanted more but was stuffed. Huge portions, and so filling and the owners heard it was my birthday and brought me a dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday. Loved the personal touch and thoughtfulness. These are owners of a small business who genuinely take pride in giving fantastic service and match this with the quality of the food. If I’d read the 1 star review I could have been put off but seen the 5 star reviews across the board and glad I went and will definitely be back. My husband can be fussy but cleared his starter and mains plates, that’s a first. Owner, don’t be disheartened by idiots. Focus on the genuine feedback and glowing reviews from very happy customers.

Unfortunately, our experience at Pinciukas left much to be desired. The anticipation was met with disappointment as the food fell short of our expectations. Despite the promising Lithuanian cuisine on the menu, the food was of poor quality. Adding to the frustration, the service was very sluggish, leaving us waiting for an unreasonable amount of time before being served our food. They couldn't say it was busy, as there were numerous empty tables, and for a Saturday night you might expect the kitchen to be staffed. It's disappointing when the experience doesn't match the excitement of trying something new. In all, it's a regrettable dining experience that I wouldn't rush to repeat.

Absolutely stunning… my partner and I have been remarking to each other about how, in the last few years, everything has gone downhill to the point where we were going to give up and stop trying to find nice pubs/bars/restaurants. Even places that we loved 2-3 years ago are now with barely edible and the service mediocre at best. Luckily we decided to just have a wee wander in a part of town we don’t go to often and discovered this gem… it didn’t appear open when we walked by, but backtracked to have a nosey at the menu outside and are SO GLAD WE DID! Initially drawn by the description outside of “Lithuanian cuisine,” followed by the cosy and smart decor, and best of all the wonderful inviting staff and the outstanding drinks/food… everything about this establishment is superior. I love the interior finishes- it’s sleek and modern and fun- and everything is clean and smells great. Our FOH staff helped us decide on which drinks to try and the things we tasted were incredible (and staff always asked us for feedback, which never happens anymore). All the food I had was of high quality ingredients and served hot, perfectly cooked. I’m excited to be going back as much as I can!

Have you ever stumbled upon a hidden gem while looking for something different? Well, I did! While exploring Edinburgh, I chanced upon a restaurant that completely exceeded my expectations. The portions were not only generous but also well-priced, and to my surprise, they import 90% of their produce from Lithuania. The service was exceptional - super friendly staff who provided some great recommendations. I can't wait to tell all my friends and co-workers about this must-try spot in Edinburgh!

I get it, business rates are up, wages are up, gas, electric, food costs... they're all higher and it makes the job of producing decent food at a profit a nigh on impossible task, but nothing can excuse the food we received here today. It was absolutely awful. This is desperately bad. Depressingly bad. I'm not sure what 13.50 for 2 deep fried minced pork cutlets, a tiny portion of chips and half a pickle sliced into 3 is, but I can guarantee you it is not a recipe for a successful business. You should all be ashamed.

The noodles were excellent thick and chewy. The braised beef brisket was full of flavour, tender and bitey. The broth was very flavourful. It retained clear nourishing quality. If you look for a freshly- made beef noodle soup in Edinburgh, look no further. It is a place you simply must try.
