We used to live in Lincoln a few years ago and always loved popping in here for lunch. I am pleased to say things haven’t changed. A lovely cafe and the staff re always friendly. I only drink coffee and water and so to have a choice of coffees is heaven for me. The server recommended the Colombian coffee which was spot on for my taste buds really different to most coffees with a great fruity taste. Next time we are in Lincoln we will be back.

First time we'd been and we were a bit disappointed. I think, sadly, vegetarian restaurants have to try harder but this lacked a little I think. We both had smoothies and flatbreads and must say straight away that both smoothies were exceptionally good. Outstanding. The flatbreads, not so much. The Better Half had Chilli Halloumi with Hummus and didn't think the combination worked. And he loves hummus. His opinion was that there was too much bread. I had Brie, Cranberry and Stuffing. Unfortunately there was a very large amount of flatbread to filling. The flatbreads were large and very thick. Only about a third of mine was filled so I had a large amount of bread with no filling. The salads that came with them were nice and fresh but small and a very small amount of tortillas. Before I started eating my salad I asked a waitress for a clean fork as mine was dirty (some kind of creamy thing on it). She changed it, but how she felt about it showed clearly on her face and she wasn't happy. This sort of thing happens and is very easily done, but it could have been handled more graciously, not as though it was somehow my fault. I ended up apologising and I'd done nothing wrong! This wasn't the waitress who welcomed us and took our order and our money, who was pleasant and informative. A lovely building but be aware that it's an old building, so the main area is upstairs.

Im now considered just a really dissatisfied customer who has No Right to complain. Yes I am dissatisfied with there service and products. And the prices are high - they want to realise that it's not only them who are facing a financial situation but that we all are! Read there replies from there website ... very patronising to anyone who dares to complain. And I intend to go back to see if they are improving in service and customer relationship?? We enjoyed our lunch here in this historic building right in the heart of Lincoln, very close to the Cathedral. My vegetarian chilli was very good, as was my husband's vegetarian dish. The only issue was the incredibly long time we had to wait for the food to arrive and as we had a short time in the town we regretted having to spend so long sitting in wait of food.

My husband and I stopped in for takeaway coffees. It didn't seem particularly busy but we still had to wait a few minutes before we had our order taken. We placed our order and then waited 15 minutes for 2 coffees. While we were waiting 2 other parties came in wanting to be sat for food but even they were waiting for a while. The staff just didn't seem very attentive. Our coffee orders were wrong when we got them and when we tasted them, the coffee was burnt. It was, unfortunately, the worst coffee I've had in a while. Neither my husband or I could finish the coffees and we threw them away.

Where to start. The staff (except the tall blonde waiter) were rude, disinterested and made us feel very unwelcome. There were specials read to other customers that we did not hear until we had ordered our food. The atmosphere was a bit awkward with the music coming on and off a few times? After we ordered, our drinks came very quickly but we waited over 40 minutes for the food and no one came to let us know there was a delay. This also began to agitate other customers who made comments. 2 of us had sandwiches, one had toast and the other had a jacket potato, none of this takes that long to be cooked, especially as the jacket potato was definitely only microwaved. The jacket potato was severely undercooked and like cardboard, however this was mentioned and removed from the bill so that was a positive. After the plates were taken back, we were sat waiting with our money out to pay for over 15 minutes and only then discovered upon overhearing another customer ask, that you had to pay at the till. This was not mentioned and numerous members of staff saw us sat with our money out clearing waiting, but failed to mention this. When we went to pay, we advised we wanted to pay separately and it seemed as though this was a problem for the rude staff member behind the till. He seemed very inconvenienced by this and got another member of staff to carry out the transaction. We appreciated that it was a busy day, however there appeared to be a lack of staff and after reading other reviews, it seems this is a common occurrence so maybe extra staffing should be considered. It would have been nice to have been kept in the loop more with why things were taking so long.

Attractive from the outside, inside, the ground floor is more appealing than the upper floors, which seem a little bare. We called on a Sunday for breakfast at their opening time of 11am. There was a good choice on the menu, I wanted the mushroom and spinach on toast, which had the option of cheese and pine nuts for a small extra charge. On asking the waitress if the cheese was vegetarian, her reply was that all cheese is vegetarian!!!! I explained the difference between animal rennet and vegetable rennet but she seemed rather unconvinced - a bit alarming in a vegetarian restaurant. I was offered vegan cheese, but that was not the answer to my question. Needless to say I stuck with the mushrooms and spinach. The toast was plentiful, thickly sliced and good, but lacked butter to the edge, and the quantity of mushrooms and spinach rather meagre. We also ordered the breakfast panini which was pronounced good, as were the scrambled eggs on toast. Decaffeinated coffee was ok.

Our hot chocolates were made with microwaved milk which we found quite odd - said they are waiting for a new machine, but I don't think should offer hot chocolate when it's going to be microwaved. Also, unclear what vegan options there are from the menu - a board on the wall says "all items on menu vegetarian with vegan options" which to us indicated there's a vegan option for every vegetarian option, which isn't true. Still giving 4 stars as its a nice place and the staff were nice.

I feel genuinely grateful for Pimento!!! The food is consistently gorgeous, the staff lovely. As a vegan, options in Lincoln can be scarce. There’s plenty of choice for non-vegans too! This place is a blessing. Thank you 😊

Back again and had a lovely lunch with friendly service. So glad it’s stayed open. The sweet potato soup was delicious with sundried tomato bread. Will definitely be returning.

From a selection including black bean chilli and falafel we chose the vegan sausage and tofu ciabatta and hummus and roasted vegetables on flatbread. Both were very tasty and the flatbread was nice and fresh with a good texture. The side salad was basic and could have been improved with tomatoes, red onion, carrot and beetroot. There was a decent choice of vegan cakes but we plumped for a chocolate and almond cheesecake (bought in, not made on site) which was satisfyingly rich with a nutty, chocolatey base and flavoursome upper layers. The coffee and hot chocolate were fine and the service was friendly and attentive.

I visited this gem of a place with my family over the weekend expecting rushed service being city centre location and was so taken with our experience I’ve written my first review! Pimento on steep hill was in a prime spot for shoppers but has a great menu that specialises in vegetarian food but is so yummy the kids didn’t even notice. The cheese on toast was epic as was the bean chilli but most of all the service was exceptional and I will most definitely be making a return trip.

Called in to see what it was like, now new owners have taken charge. The menu seemed abit limited, and there was no Welsh rarebit!! My jacket potato was lovely however, with lots of filling, cheese and beans. For pudding our lovely waitress said there was bread and butter pudding, made with a croissant, marmalade, and raisins, which was in the oven. It was served minutes later, and was absolutely delicious. Hopefully the menu will be extended to include more savoury, and sweet treats which are just as amazing

We returned to this cafe today as we had previously had very good food here , I’m sad to say under new ownership it’s not he same and was disappointing. We ordered a plate of nachos at £5.50 , this was extremely small and served on a plate that would be used as a side dish , they were the type of cheap nachos that supermarkets sell and I would say based on a big bag being around 50p , than this dish was around 20pence worth of nachos. We ordered goats cheese salad which at £10.50 I would have also expected a little more on the plate , the goats cheese portion was adaquate but the salad lacked imagination and was nothing more than literally a handful of salad leaves , I would have expected maybe some tomatoes or quinoa or mixed beans or anything at all with it rather that just a few bits of lettuce for the price , the accompanying bread described as speciality was just a very plain slice of white soft crusted bread , nothing speciality about it at all . We also ordered the halloumi focaccia flat bread , which was tasty but very dry and could have done with a bit of humous or something in it . We didn’t stay for cakes as they Looked to be mass produced bought in and very plain . The toilet was dirty and the whole place needs a bit of life putting into it , there’s no clear identity or vibe , it feels messy and uninteresting. It could be so nice if a little bit of passion was injected into it , the food was great before so these things didn’t matter as much but now the cracks show . Good points were friendly staff and tea and coffee was great . This place used to be buzzing and the food used to be great but unfortunately we will not be returning , if it wasn’t for the tourists I think this cafe wouldn’t last .

Been here a few times as locals and my friend is vegetarian. Always had good meals. However soon as the Xmas market weekend turns up, menu choice goes down hill, customer service too and prices go up.

A welcoming atmosphere, cheery and helpful staff, quick service. Proper loose leaf tea - decaffinated - in a proper tea pot and cup and saucer for me. Choice of decaff coffees for my partner. Cake and tea cake both excellent. Although we only popped in for an afternoon pick me up, I was impressed by the vegan and vegetarian menu options on the menu.

Sweet veggie cafe on steep hill. Limited menu but both our choices were lovely. Spinach, cheese and chilli quiche with home made coleslaw was delicious as was the tomato and red pepper soup. Friendly serving staff too. Can’t believe we haven’t seen this cafe before on our countless trips to Lincoln. Will definitely return.
