Awesome atmosphere and great coffee

It was a lovely break from Christmas shopping, although they have VERY steep stairs to navigate if you've got achy feet and lots of bags. The staff are lovely and made a great coffee recommendation 💕 . The outside doesn't look great, and I nearly walked on by, but it's certainly worth it!

Pretty average flat white for the price tag of £3.90 in Lincoln.

Called in here randomly as oh desperate in need of a coffee after walking around Lincoln, sightseeing (it is beautiful and highly recommended btw). The atmosphere appeared to be quite studenty at first and we kind of felt out of place. However the staff were very friendly, helpful and absolutely lovely in every sense!! They made us feel so at home and welcome. I had a dark hot chocolate with marshmallows and my oh had a cappuccino.... We also had a slice of cheese cake and a cinnamon bun. The hot chocolate was actually heavenly! It looked very well presented and tasted perfect. The oh said his cappuccino was excellent and attention was paid again to presentation... And he should know, he drinks enough (high quality) coffee to be able to assess it. The food was again very well presented. The cheese cake was nice enough but the oh's cinnamon bun was the star. It was delicious! A young chap helped us carry our food and drinks upstairs, which we were grateful for as the stairs were a little steep. However, once on the first floor, the decor was fabulous!! There are drawings stuck onto a full wall of the room. I loved looking at all those. Different people, some amazing artists, some comical. All equally beautiful memories and leaving their mark. The ceiling was cool with a mural type poster and the room was light, airy and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed walking down the stairs on the way out and seeing all the photos of groups of friends/colleagues? stuck to the walls. Reminded us of our student/younger days (some years ago!). Brilliant, and showed that bond, friendliness and fun the atmosphere there has. We left a bag inside with oh's shirt in it and didn't realise until about 15/20 mins later. Went back. The staff had retrieved it and kept it behind the counter. Again, very friendly, helpful and sweet. We would very much recommend this fantastic coffee shop!!! Thank you to all the staff there. You make the place 100%!!!

What a great place. Cafe seems too small a word. Excellent.

Ok but go for a more substantial coffee if you like a full mug. A cramped little medieval house with rickety stairs and a photo wall. The staff are smily, the coffee delicious and the cakes totally sinful! Eclectic clientele WASPS with laptops and arty types to towny launchers

Quirky little coffee shop. Had a mocha which was excellent and really enjoyed it. Packed into a small space with steep stairs. With seating on the two floors above.

First time visiting Cafe Aroma after being recommended by a friend and it definitely didn't disappoint. The coffee was of exceptional quality and the Latte I had was served at perfect temperature. The cakes looked amazing but nothing could tempt me

I had a beautiful coffee here. The coffee was not at all bitter or sharp, it was just perfect. The atmosphere is also cute, it had an independent and quirky feel to it.

It was such a lovely place in the past but recently something happended with staff and I was treated like trash with racist comments, nothing to deserve it. And no explanation given, it seems they think they can treat paying customers like street beggars if they don't like their nationality or their friends. Completely inappropriate. I take my custom elsewhere. Edit: Reply says about court order. Such order does not exist. I was the one who was told off for not being English. You got people mixed up mate. I'm not coming in for such treatment. Plenty of better places around. At least don't lie to make youselfs looking good and just admit mistake. You can make customer feel bad only once, no apologies, that's your management.

Such a lovely coffee shop, we visited pretty much every day we were in Lincoln. The drinks were gorgeous and the atmosphere was even better. Highly recommend!

I recently visited Lincoln from the USA. Before my trip I did a bit of reading up on the local coffee houses and marked a few as "must visit." Oddly, a not-so-flattering review of Coffee Aroma is what made me decide I *must* visit. The reviewer sounded entitled, self-centered and unctuous...they had no problem with the coffee, the service or the ambiance. Apparently, they didn't like the music and kept turning it off so they could listen to their own. Anyone who has the audacity to walk into someone's place of business (or home!) and think it's OK to take control of the playlist or mess with the sound equipment shouldn't be allowed out in public. I found the music at Coffee Aroma to be absolutely perfect. As was the coffee, the tea, the hot chocolate, and all the cakes, croissants and toasties I consumed over the course of two weeks while I was in town. My only regret was not asking if the playlist is available on Spotify (if it's not, please consider it!) I will definitely be coming back--every day-- when I'm back in Lincoln this summer. I will miss not coming here every day!

An excellent coffee shop placed perfectly near the centre of the High Street. Excellent staff, well trained baristas, and some of the best coffee in Lincoln. Plus the building is beautiful definitely make sure you check out the second floor

The greatest coffee I tried in Lincoln. I ordered (on two days) a Flat white with an extra shot which tasted very great and had powerful caffeine, it's real coffee.

Rally great barista made coffee with a quirky interior that is worth a look.

Had a bit of a awkward encounter with barista, but the place is beautiful, you could spend hours here.

Great coffee, great staff, great vibe.

Flapjack and coffee is good but the service was bad. There are too many workers behind the bar and it takes more than one to serve you apparently. One took my order and another placed a coffee on the bar to be taken, it was not the coffee I ordered so I was confused when they stared at me, expecting me to take the coffee. They don't have the warm customer service a coffee shop should have.

Based on the reviews, I thought I would love this place so I went first thing on a Saturday morning. Service was polite but indifferent. The Americano was quite sour. The music was great but too loud for first thing in the morning. However the greatest disappointment was the red velvet cake - I ordered this based off another glowing review. It was clearly not fresh baked, at least a day old and dry. An overall disappointing experience. Cute rooms though.

As always a great experience. Affordable coffee prices and excellent use of coffee blend. Everything you need from a coffee shop. Also make sure you try their red velvet cake, it's a must. 100% would recommend 👌

Coffee aroma was a little gem we found mainly because it started to rain and we needed a drink. It’s very cosy inside and there’s upstairs seating. We sat outside and there was very effective heaters as it was a bit chilly. The drinks were well presented and the coffee was good and normally priced. There’s no parking directly by the cafe but you’d be unlikely to need to park next to the place. Only downside with sitting outside is chavs vaping and smoking. 😔 but this affects every coffee place I’ve been to.

Sorry to say we experienced poor customer service here from two bar staff members. Coffee was good but we were made to feel uncomfortable by the man and lady. Don’t like to leave bad reviews but have to say I was surprised, sorry guys.

Been going for 4-5 years, lovely staff. Dog Friendly. Serves food (I don't think they are currently, but still are selling cakes.) They do takeouts, you can sit inside or out with 3 floors of seating (not big rooms, but decent sized.) Also have free WiFi. They do a variety of drinks - including smoothies when it is a hot season (i.e summer). I highly recommend going.

Amazing dog friendly place! Incredible exciting menu, the cakes were delicious and the fun mish mash decore plays really nicely with the small rooms scattered around. Service was prompt and friendly! Couldn’t be better.

I am from Nottingham and we was in Lincoln visiting friends and they took us here. What a treat, such friendly staff, great options and really well priced. Will be going again the next time we are in Lincoln

Absolutely favourite place to grab a coffee in Lincoln. The staff are so lovely and friendly. The coffee is great and although we're not able to sit inside at the moment - the atmosphere is still very good. I miss sitting in because its a very cool building and the decor is wonderful. I sat for many hours beside a radiator writing my dissertation and sipping on a white chocolate mocha. Yum!

"Pot of loose leaf tea" was a tea bag in a paper cup which they had the cheek to charge me £3.70 for. I understand times are tough but this is simply not good enough.

Good tea and cake, and a really nice atmosphere without being twee.

Understand the need to obey social distancing but the bar staff here (one in particular) on my first visit were so power trippy about distancing that it was just not fun. A waitress with red hair was shouting at people to 'go back round the corner' when they were already waiting outside for the green light and were well over two metres away from anyone. It was a bit much.

Excellent coffee shop. Unlike the chains with vile disgusting undrinkable coffee serves excellent coffee. Tables outside.

Really friendly staff, went while I was at college for my lunch break and for a filming location, they were happy for us to use the upstairs room, plenty of seating, great coffee and the hot chocolate was amazing. Free wifi is quick and works really well. The whole place in general is really very nice.

Excellent coffee, probably the best in the East Midlands, lovely cakes and snacks and a decent bar selection for Friday and Saturday evenings. To top it all it is a really lovely atmosphere, slightly quirky but very homely.
