Pilpel in Tower Hamlets

As far as I am concerned the mini-chain Pilpel does the best falafels in London, and beyond. Always freshly prepared, crispy outside and soft inside, extremely well fried, they go into the pitta or container which is then generously filled with all the vegetable trimmings (or any selection of them you want). The personnel is generally friendly and well-trained and efficient. Prices, while of course they have gone up in the last few years, are still very reasonable and certainly in line with those of competitors, which often do not come near this level of quality.

We got two falafel pitas at lunchtime. Really generous positions, very fresh, and lovely tasting food. We also didn't have to wait very long given we went at peak lunchtime rush.

This is a great place to grab a quick lunch. The portion sizes are so generous. Everything tastes fresh and the falafel itself is really tasty. What really makes this place stand out is the staff. They are always so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

In a city where value is attached to price Pilpel was a nice surprise. It was fresh and plentiful and all-together just wonderful. We tried the 2 different pitas, eggplant, falafel, box and all extras. Between the 4 of us, we pretty much ate everything the place offers. It was all fresh and the service was patient and courteous.

I love this mini-chain, which offers a selection of falafel options and other Middle-Eastern dips and classics. Fresh ingredients and of course freshly fried "proper" falafels, richly garnished (red cabbage, white cabbage, pickles, carrots, hummous, tabouleh and more...) until the pitta or the container is overflowing with stuff. All extremely pleasant. The venues are clean and personnel is friendly. Last time I visited this one near Algate, with seating both inside and (more limited) outside. Prices are reasonable. All in all, a very nice option for a quick, tasty and healthy meal, streets ahead of many competitors in the area.

Lovely staff. Clean environment. Fast service. Delish and fresh food. Falafel yummy!!! Definitely recommend for veg food.

I love Pilpel and have been buying food regularly for the past year as a walk-in customer with my colleagues. The food is always fresh, quick and delicious. Always happy to wait for fresh food but recently the Deliveroo drivers and orders have been taking priority over walk-in customers. I came just before the lunchtime rush to avoid the busy period but I definitely felt that deliveries were prioritised over the in store customers after waiting 15 minutes to be served. Such a shame as Pilpel prides itself on happy customers who love the Pilpel experience- maybe that takes place online rather than in store.

Staying in the hotel next to this place and I know London prices can be high was going to a supermarket and seen this place. The prices are very good the portions are great. You can smell the freshness of the food it was amazing food and I enjoy all of it. The staff are very friendly and helpful as it was my first time the guy cooking is great thanks so much. They need to come out of the city more and open store all over the value is super. 6.95 for this with bread a coffe shop would be double that. Well done guys

Lovely place with a great choice of falafel and/or houmous based meals, really friendly staff who offered free samples whilst we were choosing. We chose the falafel containers, which were great value with 3 salads, freshly cooked falafel and houmous and tahini with pita bread. Also chilli sauce available, but we found it a bit hot. One with aubergine and the other with feta. Both delicious and really filling. All vegetarian and many vegan options. Eat in or take away.

Ate there twice one lunch one for late dinner, great friendly staff and superfast service, fresh tasty hot falafels with 'brown' pita and salads is really all I needed.. fills and fulfills. decor inside is nice but could use better (higher) actual chairs instead of stools and bigger tables. Overall the plate of "deconstructed" falafel in a pita was excellent value, with drink at about 7.90 gbp.

It was my first time, to visit one of this small chain of places to eat. It's your classic fast food set up, only with drop ceiling lighting & light wooden benches, or comfy stools, all low seating around tables for two or groups of 4 to 6 people and take way service I was hungry and ordered the falafels (a house specialty) they came with a blob of humous, red pickled cabbage, green salad & I ordered extra toppings - sun-dried tomatoes, aubergine & feta cheese The staff were friendly and asked if wanted pitta bread, I said yes whole meal toasted, this requested was met with we don't toast them & showed me a flaccid pitta. I said 'i'll pass on that' the guy replied 'OK I give you some extra falafel, he did and when my meal was ready I had 7 falafel's As for the falafel, they lived up to the PR speak, and most of the meal was fine except for the aubergine's their edges were burnt. It was a belly filler, and not a bad one. I craved a dessert, only to discover this site only had 2 options 'Judes' small tubs of few flavoured ice-creams for £2 or the other 1 one flavour of a larger Gio Gio Madagascar Vanilla at £3.95 I selected the Gio Gio It came to just over £11 And I couldn't complain about that, my tummy was satisfied

Il miglior pranzo che si possa desiderare: piatto di insalata mista, hummus e falafel accompagnati da pita integrale. A piacere si possono aggiungere topping come guacamole, feta, uova sode, pomodori essicati o melanzane grigliate. Si può consumare il pranzo nel locale, molto carino e accogliente, o chiedere di portarlo via. Pranzo gustoso, sano e saziante! Pura libidine!

I loved the falafels there! You can order in a plate or in a pita bread (wrap) When served with salad they can be a bit dry so I will recomend a drink , but definetly tasty! And i love how the story behind the recipe is personalised!

Visited here for lunch. Friendly welcome coming in and while looking at menu offered falafel to try. Food really nice and fresh with lots of additions to the pitta. Food really good and good value. Overall well worth a visit

so tasty and fresh friendly staff seating inside and out it a 10 from us just down the road from Aldgate East station

Lovely falafels with salads, guacamole, egg, sun dried tomatoes and more. Combined with beautiful tabouli and Jimmy’s and fresh salads - so good! Topped off with tahini and chill sauce - fresh, healthy and filing. Staff are efficient friendly and cool - love it!!!

When i think of good falafel pilpel always comes to mind! They have a great texture and are generally just very fresh and tasty
