WORST “Italian” RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE – A COMPLETE JOKE If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Actually, I’d give it negative stars for wasting my time, money, and appetite. This isn’t a restaurant — it’s a sad parody of one. We walked in and were greeted with… nothing. No “hello,” no smile — just a miserable man muttering “any table” like we were interrupting his nap. He flung menus at us like frisbees. Honestly, I’ve had warmer welcomes at the DMV. The arancini looked like they were dredged in something scraped off a school cafeteria floor. Bland, soggy, tasteless garbage. The calamari? An overpriced pile of frozen rubber, dumped next to a sad handful of wilted lettuce. No seasoning, no dressing, no clue. I wouldn’t serve that to a stray dog. Then came the pizza. If the “chef” — who was loudly yapping on his speakerphone while cooking — had actually paid any attention, maybe the dough wouldn’t have been RAW. Raw. Inedible. Toppings were basically nonexistent, and the so-called porcini mushrooms were clearly frozen, tasteless, and possibly a health risk. Calling this “pizza” is an insult to Italy — hell, it’s an insult to cardboard. A greasy, late-arriving side of courgettes showed up after we’d nearly finished everything else. They tasted only of burnt fryer oil and sadness. And the Coke? Just a warm can slapped down on the table like they were doing us a favor. Oh, and the ambiance? Screaming in the kitchen, chaos in the dining area — it felt like we’d wandered onto the set of a budget Kitchen Nightmares knockoff. This place has supposedly been open since 2017 — I’m convinced it’s a front for something, because there’s no way it’s surviving on food or service. Maybe blackmail? Witchcraft? Avoid this disgrace at all costs. I’d rather eat gas station sushi off a bus floor.

We had dinner yesterday for Mother's Day. It's always a great sign when you enter a restaurant and every single table is booked and full of people enjoying their meals!! Service was extremely attentive, they could not do enough for us.. Calzone is AMAZING!!! Overall, an excellent dining experience, one which my family and I will be coming back to enjoy in the coming weeks! Thank you to everyone at Piccola.. Keep up the great work!!

My personal hidden gem in London! Wonderful dining experience with great food and a warm atmosphere. The Minestrone soup was hearty and comforting, the Strudel was baked to perfectly, and the Chocolate Brownie was simply divine. Service was excellent, with Dimitri making sure everything was perfect for us. The restaurant has a welcoming ambiance, making it a great place to relax and enjoy quality food.

The food was great—my friend had the minestrone soup, which was comforting and well-seasoned, and I had a white sauce pizza that I really enjoyed. The crust was very, very thin, which I personally prefer, and because of that, it was light enough for one person to eat the whole thing without feeling too full. Easily one of the best brownies I’ve ever had. It was served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and the contrast between the hot, fudgy brownie and the cold, creamy ice cream was just incredible. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures because I just indulged in it straight away. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was decent, and the atmosphere was nice. I’d consider coming back, especially for that brownie!

Pizza, spaghetti carbonara, and lasagna are all delicious options.

The pizza was delicious. Had the ham and mushroom on the margarita pizza. The garlic bread to start was yum and it left us full but not super stuffed. My friend had the four cheese and artichoke and also loved it!

Nice little restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. Pasta was good, pizza would benefit from a bit less tomato sauce as was a little too damp! Shame as the crust is really tasty and the flavours were good.

Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Delicious food, food arrived promptly, attentive service. Nice atmosphere as they were playing jazz music and at a level which was not intrusive. I would go back.

I had an excellent dinner here. Surprised and delighted to walk in on a Friday evening with no booking and be seated straight away. The asparagus starter was first rate. My main was veal with linguine, again excellent. I spent £47 including a zucchini fritti side dish, a glass of Moretti and service charge. Highly recommended.

Went here as couldn’t get into our preferred Italian in Hampstead. Very solid second choice! Pizzas not quite as good (the tuna one was amazing though) but a really nice atmosphere, great service and moretti on tap

I’ve been to many Italian restaurants in London and this one is without a doubt the best one. I’ve been multiple times, tried a variety of dishes and Piccola never disappoints. Highly recommend the carbonara!

Really delicious pasta and pizza. The whole family had a great time! The staff were super friendly and incredibly accommodating as I asked for a dish not on the menu for my anniversary and they made it. We will be going back for sure. The kids especially loved the chocolate treats they were given at the end.

Cute place, good food. Portions could be a tiny bit bigger but it was definitely a good time. The pasta is pretty good.

Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience at Piccola last night. We tried two different pasta dishes and shared them, both suffered severe stomachaches shortly after, which lasted through the night and into the morning. The discomfort was intense, as if we'd been punched in the stomach. Additionally, the service left much to be desired. The staff was not welcoming, and when we called to inform them of our experience, their response was quite rude and dismissive. It's disheartening when the response to customer concerns is handled poorly. I must advise others to consider these issues before deciding to dine here.

Last night me and my family had dinner at Piccola, we try to go at least twice per month, as the food is delicious and the restaurant, make us feel like we are in Italy. My husband and kids had gnocchi sorrentina, which loved it ! We love the fresh tomato sauce that they do, we even buy to make it at home for kids sometimes, from La Deli da Cheffone! I personally had a seabass with a portion of spinach. Everything delicious as always 😊 !

If you are looking for an AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant then this is the one for you! As an Italian living in London, I have visited several places that pretended to be Italian but in reality turned out to be anything but! Be wary of imitations and instead come to Piccola, managed by qualified, polite and friendly staff! Not to mention the quality of the food, always excellent, fresh and high quality! In short, all you have to do is go, you won't regret it! ❤️

I have been to “Piccola” several times and I can say that I have never been disappointed! Service, hospitality and food are truly excellent. If you are looking for a TRULY Italian restaurant I recommend it and you will ABSOLUTELY not be disappointed! It is located 2 minutes from Hampstead station, so easy to get to too. I will definitely go back again and bring new friends with me.

Food was nice a bit expensive , very simple.

We didn't feel welcomed, and the food was pretty good but not £60 worth of good -- 2 pasta dishes and 2 teas, no sides (not even bread). Menu said "homemade" pasta mwas an extra charge so we didn't ask for it. Another reviewer's use of the term "tourist trap" seems spot on; it's exactly how we felt.

Possibly the best Italian I have had in London! Really good. Small restaurant in Hampstead, limited tables which are very close together. I went for a very late lunch at 15:30 on a Sunday afternoon which was a good idea as it was much quieter then. Staff were super friendly. Service was very efficient. Lovely cosy and homely! Felt like being back in Italy. Big selection on the menu from pizza to pasta, meat, fish, desserts and more. I went with the angel hair pasta with, olive oil, garlic, chilli, king prawns, cherry tomato and courgettes. Divine beyond words! Generous in portion size, tasty, well presented, freshly made and each mouthful was a delight. So good. I had a soft drink with it. I don't drink alcohol but they have an extensive wine menu too. I gladly polished off my lunch. Clean restaurant. Nice atmosphere and delicious lunch. Reasonably priced for the area. Highly recommend.

Sorry to say,very disappointing lunch,after last time,when it was so good. Calves liver was bitter, my friends' Mediterranean salad was bland and boring, just no flavour.Soggy Apple Strudel, should be crisp pastry, will not be returning,for £65 certainly not worth the money.

London prices were to be expected - i had no idea the seafood pasta would be £22. The spaghetti arrabbiata i ordered was divine! The perfect amount of sauce (plenty), wonderfully spicy (not too much) and a good portion - enough to eat in one sitting AND have dessert! Thank you!

We ate pizza and drank a beer in a pleasant atmosphere. The service was very good. I recommend to those who wish. I will definitely come back.

Great place with the best pasta marinara I ever eat

The staff was adequate. Not rude but not very friendly either. I did not enjoy their recommendations. I ordered the sea bass and was extremely disappointed. I was expecting a filet but is was 2 small pieces from near the tail. It tasted like it wasn’t seasoned at all. I did not enjoy this at all. My wife ordered the bolognese and it was just ok and also very different from any bolognese sauce I’ve ever had. The kids ordered pizza from the adult menu and it was average. With so many other great options in the area I would not recommend this restaurant.

On entering I thought it felt a bit cold, but as we didn’t have long, decided to stay, thinking it would warm up, it didn’t! I asked about the heating and the manager told us it was broken, and there were no heaters to offer us. Plus they had no idea, if it was even going to be sorted out. It was so cold, and he was not telling people on arrival. I find this quite shocking, also because there were some elderly people in there , who experienced the same situation. Appalling!

Great pasta and lasagna. There are not many people, it’s a quite and small place. Waiters were not the kindest, they kept forgetting things. But enjoyed our time.

The food in this restaurant is simply delicious !! Everything from the garlic bread to the homemade chicken Milanese to the homemade pasta was truly so tasty. Best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been too. Highly recommend I will bring everyone I know here.

As a regular customer I am never disappointed with the excellent food, the staff are so attentive , service is fantastic & the manager will always check in at your table to make sure we are happy. Amazing selection of wines also. Such great value for a restaurant in Hampstead. Looking forward to my next visit. If you want authentic, exceptional Italian food book your table !

I'm not over impressed by the very bad reviews. The good ones seem so different. But my experience wasn't great..the place looks greasy and tired..the food was very basic.. felted embarrist to not pay .bill was 100 pounds...no drinks.only water...two starters.2 mains samons.very small amount of food ...shocked really..

Unfortunately the cheese in the burrata salad was off and the staff were not kind about this.

Great pizza. Shame about the staff. I ordered a phone collection pizza. Turned up to collect and the price has gone up. I said that the price was different online which he said is normal. I stated it isn’t and you cannot do different prices to what you charge. He became quite annoyed and refused to charge me the correct price. Then when I said I wouldn’t pay shouted at me outside the restaurant. I won’t come back. I won’t tell friends. I won’t suggest it - which is a shame as I work locally. I will be contacting the owner.

The food is average I would say, even the pizzas. The choice is actually quite limited with half of the pizzas being white pizzas. The main issue I have with the restaurant is that despite going when it was almost empty (only 2 other couples and a table of 4), we were sitted in between the two other couples, with 3 inches between each table, which prevents you from having a conversation without broadcasting it to your neighbors. Please reorganize the tables to give more space, I don't want to hear every word that the next table is saying.

I’m sorry to say we where very disappointed…after trying the sandwich in their deli down the street (which is amazing(! We came with high expectations. The pasta was under cooked and the .sauce had a store bought taste to it The salad came with no seasoning We paid 73£ for two people and came out disappointed…. The staff was nice and quick Hopefully they will improve.

The Cotolleta is absolutely delicious. Very nice local restaurant- always come to have my fave dish. Great service, and they always make room for us which is appreciated. Prices are also reasonable. Highly recommended

Love this place, it's very "Americanized" Italian food I would say, but that's what I love. Great pizza and pasta.

Food was nice and came out extremely quickly. Took a while to even get a menu as the staff (think manager) was more interested in speaking to a customer he knew. Took a very long time to pay despite having our bill and having our card in view all while 3 staff members see to a table with their friend. In the end had to wave them over. There was an Italian waitress who was the saving grace, she was polite and friendly and was there to take our order as soon as she saw we were ready to.

Was really looking forwards to eating at this restaurant due to the great reviews. Small restaurants can sometimes have the best food however, the service was bad and the food was extremely bland with a very long wait. The prices are also very up there for what you get. Ordered a £10 salad and received a small plate of cut of plain vegetables worth no more than £2. Overall, disappointed and won’t be returning.

Anyone who has not tried the Moscato dessert wine: you are missing out! The freshness, the fruitiness and the bubbly texture are just to die for! The best calf liver, spaghetti meatballs and the roulette gnocchi we’ve ever had! Be sure you will have a great meal and wine!
