Volveremos.

I dined here with a group of friends during our London holiday.Beautiful location, warm and welcoming. Careful and friendly service.A young and original menu that also offers typical dishes of true Italian cuisine. Exceptional presentation, great everything from appetizers to desserts. We ordered Parma ham, salmon, burrata and octopus as starters, then the colurgiones, Paccheri, malloreddus and spaghetti. As main course Milanese cutet, lamb and sea bass. Do not miss the Bavarian and Tiramisu! We will definitely come back :) Congratulations on the idea of copper panes!Thank you, we really felt home!

This was one of the worst places I have ever eaten in. I did not eat , as I had to send everything back. It is a small restaurant with a terrible chef if there actually is a chef! He has very limited cooking skills. . We started with the bread they put down it was cold and like a hockey puck. Then came the starter of Burrata on Vegetables. It was so old and running it was like eating milk soup and tasteless. I have never had anything like it anywhere the world. There were only 2 tables of people and it took 45 minutes to get our enible pasta which tasted like it was cooked for 45 minutes. The pasta vongole was mixed with mussels and the clams were not in the shell.Over salted and in water. We had told them ...No mussels. My pasta was so overcooked and terrible. I had one mouthful and then tasted the Vongole and we sent it all back.It was truly disgusting. We asked for the cheque and left. Do Not go to this restaurant . There are so many good Italian restaurants in Portobello , that this restaurant will not make it unless they change the chef and the waiters . I think the chef held up the entire service because everything was over cooked. I never write such a terrible review but this place really was not worth walking in the door. Its expensive as well.

Preamble 1. I never go to Italian restaurants outside Italy, mainly for two reasons: (1) I can eat Italian food at home; (2) most of the time, Italian restaurants outside Italy provide a deformed imitation of Italian dishes (even restaurants managed by Italians) mainly to accommodate for the “taste” of the locals.Preamble 2. We were a group of 6 Italians with a small and tired 5 years old girl (my nephew) in search for a quite restaurant serving something familiar to the child. In other words, my nephew chose the restaurant. The “Piccola cucina” is located in Notting Hill, in an area surrounded by crowded and noisy restaurants (mostly Italians). We have been warmly welcomed by and immediately seated. All dishes were “truly Italians”, superbly prepared and with fresh ingredients. I took the “Soup of the day” (a tomato soup), a sliced tuna served grilled and served on a hot stone-dish and, finally, a “tirami su”. My table mates took spaghetti with oil, paccheri with sea-brass, fried calamari and prawns, swordfish rolls, lemon cake. All of us were impressed with the quality of the dishes. We drank water, a bottle of white wine and a glass of red wine. While waiting for the dishes, we enjoyed the baskets of fresh bread. We paid slightly less than 40 pounds per person.

We went to this restaurant this week, we hadn't booked, but there were very few tables occupied (probably should have given us a clue?!) so we were given a nice table. It was a very hot evening and the air con wasn't working, which was boring. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing supper, my pasta was ordinary, and my sons in their 20s, had a chicken dish which they said was very dry. The cheapest wine was £28. The food was really disappointing, It looks like it should be a lovely restaurant and the waiter tried hard, but sadly we won't be returning.

Stopped in for lunch on Saturday having been enticed by the lunch menu - 3 courses for £12.90. What a deal we thought...We were seated are asked which drinks we would like. At no point were we handed a wine list or menu. Taking the board outside as an indication of the lunch time menu price, we asked for a simple glass of red wine and white wine. Now when the final bill came, the red wine was almost as expensive as the meal itself - £11! For a glass! The white was not far behind on £8. A "cheap" meal had suddenly become rather expensive. When queried about the price of the drinks, the manager replied he thought we wanted the "best wine" although that was not asked for and clearly not implied in our approach - asking about and looking for a great deal as we thought we'd found. The meal itself was so-so - a basic lasagne starter, a spaghetti main which was just a pile of spaghetti in a meagre sauce and a cannoli dessert for "two" which was microscopic. Whilst we might have overlooked that for a great price, the deception with the wine, the fact we were never given a menu or a choice of drinks, had to wait quite a while after being seated and that general slack service were not great. The manager knocked off about £5 from our overall bill after we challenged the price of the drinks, but the tab was ridiculous for what was received. They tried to moot a 10% service charge, but surprisingly we didn't go for it. In an area with so many good options this was a real shame. It looked great, and seemed busy but I would recommend diners go somewhere else instead. We will next time.

In modern society you hear many a story about independent family owned businesses being run out of town by big corporate monsters. In this cool part of London it is no different. On one corner is Starbucks, on another a key cutting shop that looks pre-war. With this in mind, the first port of call for an exclusive restaurant is the welcome it gives it's customers and the comfort that it provides. This is where Piccolo Cucina fell flat on its botox injected face.Whilst we hadn't booked a table, it was past 9pm and the restaurant looked quiet. Upon entering we were ushered to our table which looked lovely. Presented with wine and food menus, we were then stared at by the 4 members of staff at the front bar who discussed us in Italian and made us feel quiet unwelcome. Perhaps it was because we weren't wearing suits and ties and just looked like ordinary people.Whilst the food was OK, the service was terrible and we waited 20 minutes with dirty plates on our table before asking for the bill. Whilst we sat staring at our plates, staff milled around a table of Italians close by to us and couldn't have done more for them. The owner chatted and laughed and provided advice on starters, mains and wine. The only assistance we had was a thinly veiled offer for 2 plates to share a starter. If you want to pay through the nose for average food with rude staff then this is the place for you. Upon paying 150 for dinner, we stood up to exit and were not even given the courtesy of a "How was dinner, thank you for coming". Repeat business is a huge factor in modern society and fortunately for me, this place will never receive another of my hard earned English pounds.

Small and well designed restaurant, the front part is more casual with mosaic tiled tables and the back of the restaurant has white table clothed tables. The menu has a good range of fish/meat and pasta dishes to choose from. I had a beautiful seabass tartar which was incredibly fresh and delicately seasoned and dressed, my partner had octopus salad that came in a very generous portion, for main we had parpadelle with porcini mushrooms which was very tasty and packed with mushrooms. Tiramisu was a little heavy but we were pretty full so not sure whether it affected our taste buds. Italian waitresses and waiters make the place feel very authentic.I think it's a little more pricey than other Italian restaurants on the street but worth every penny.

I was very optimistic about getting a table at Piccola Cucina. The place always looked busy and the menu looked authentic. Unfortunately our experience fell about a mile short of our expectations. Maybe the kitchen didn't like us because we were walk-ins, or maybe the food just isn't good. Regardless, first impressions are important and this wildly missed the mark.We started by sharing the tuna tartare. The tuna itself was flavourful but unfortunately the 'crusty bread' missed the plate and was never presented. We were stuck with regular, soft bread (intended for olive oil) which isn't so nice with soft tartare. Perhaps this was just a service error but it wasn't a good start. (at this point my rating would've been a 3)We each had a first-course pasta dish which were the highlight of the evening. I had a tomato sauce (botargo), my partner had their special which was basically a Parmesan sauce. The noodles were well cooked, the sauces were well balanced, over all very good. In hindsight I wish the meal ended here. (at this point my rating would have been a 4)The true disappointment was the main. We shared the 'seared tuna coated in pistachios'. Wow did this fail. The tuna was terribly overdone to the point of almost no red in the middle. The pistachio 'crust' was literally sliced pistachios poured on top - nothing pressed into the sides of the fish as one would expect. I got the impression the tuna was cooked the previous day (without pistachios) and microwaved. Then, they opened a bag of M&S nuts and poured them on top. This was without question the worst piece of tuna I've ever eaten. The kitchen should frankly be ashamed at letting that plate out of the kitchen. (at this point my rating went down to 1)After the previous bomb we skipped dessert. The total bill with wine was nearly 120 pounds.Maybe I should have been more forceful and requested bread with the tartare. Maybe I should have questioned/sent back the seared tuna and demanded a new dish. Then again, it's not my fault, it's the kitchen's. The owners can thank their pasta dishes because it's the only reason they get 2 stars. Overall, Notting Hill has several Italian restaurants which prepare much better food, have better service, and are more affordable. I will not be returning and would not recommend Piccola Cucina to anyone.

After my first experience with a group of friends (three of which are Sicilian) I decided to return to confirm the extraordinary quality of my first visit: impeccableEccellente prodotto italiano e maestria ai fornelli sia nelle ricette tradizionali che negli accostamenti di sapori siculi reinterpretati dallo chef con semplicità ed eleganza.Excellent Italian produce, and mastery at the stoves both in traditional recipes and in the elegant reinterpretation of Sicilian flavour combinations. All of this isn't enough to be a little Italian excellence abroad: to become such a restaurant needs the excellence and love of service that has distinguished Italian restaurants throughout the globe. Here you will find Francesco, a knowledgeable, well spoken and elegant gentleman, as a true representative of the excellence that you can only find in the best restaurants of the 'old boot' (home, Italy). A Maitre such as Francesco transforms a great dinner into an experience, and this is the cherry on top that makes this little kitchen (literally 'piccola cucina') into a great little restaurant.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat early in the week and on consulting the internet, we were directed to this place. First impressions: It look smart and clean and welcoming. The lack of clientele was a slight worry but not enough to put us off and have to go to the bother of searching for something else, besides we were on a schedule. The menu was enticing: Sicilian food with a good selection of fish, which appealed to us.Without delay our order was taken: tuna tartare, culatello & burrata to start with which were both quite delicious – especially the latter which I was loath to even exchange tastes with my fellow diner, it was that good. The portions were also very decent. We had mentioned to the waiter that we had limited time (I know, not an ideal situation) and immediately we had finished the starter, our main courses arrived. I had the tuna pistachio and my friend the grilled fish of the day, which was sea bass. These were good but, to be honest, we’ve had better and the two of us came away thinking both our plates lacked seasoning and were somewhat bland – to our taste anyway. Being generous, we thought this might have been something to do with the time constraints we put on the chef but in all honesty he can’t have been that pushed as there wasn’t more than 4 or 5 other diners in the place the whole time we were there. I am also quantifying my comment (and rating) with reference to the cost: this restaurant is by no means cheap and for the money . . . well, we thought it a lot to pay. I’m going to further illustrate what I mean with specific reference to the tuna pistachio. Their promotional photo (on a website I found after the event) showed succulent, cross-hatched, seared tuna with a delightful nutty crust around the edge - as it should be - and crispy blue potato chips. What I got was (albeit decent) fish completely smothered in crushed pistachio which made it dry in the mouth and with deep fried crisps verging on the soggy. It’s quite clear they can, and have, done better. We were recommended some Sicilian white wine (La Segreta Planeta) and, conversely, this was very reasonably priced (I think it was the cheapest) and was quite delicious. The remainder of the wine list escalated in price quite dramatically after this but it was nice not to be recommended something expensive for a change (!) and was an indication that they know what they are doing at heart.I’d go back for the culatello/burrata for sure but, for what it cost, I won’t necessarily be going out of my way as I have better options locally, both gastronomically and financially.

Stumbled across Piccola Cucina by chance on a Saturday night when we were staying close by. The street was buzzing, lots of Italian trattoria's and diners spilling out onto the pavements. The restaurant setting was chic and glamorous albeit a bit quiet for a Saturday, when all the other local places were packed. Didn't really matter though, the food and service were excellent!!! Slightly dismissive maitre de but all other staff were warm and friendly. We enjoyed the tuna tartare and grandmothers meatballs. The meatballs were especially good - simple, authentic and melt in the mouth delicious. We followed that by sharing both blue lobster linguine and swordfish pasta. Complex flavours, so we'll cooked and delightful to eat. Welcoming, relaxed and a great find.

One of the table was extremely busy and the owner instead of keeping them quite or apologizing with us , he said " you know they have already bought 4 bottles of wine ..." underlining that he had to sell more. That was completely lack of respect towards the other clients. The owner stay the entire time at that table entertaining them playing some cards so that they were even more noisy. I complained about that at the moment of the bill and he gave us a discount. I have to say that no discount can save dinner completely ruined just because of no respect. I will never come back and I really not recommend the place.

The food was good, but by no means excellent or better than many other top London fish restaurants. The ambience was non-existent: I went twice - the first time was mid-week so it was understandably (ish) empty. And by empty I mean there was us and 1 other table. The second time was on a weekend night, and while the rest of the street was bustling with people and great ambience, this restaurant was, again, empty. And the reasons are obvious. Its A LOT more expensive than any of the surrounding restaurants, for no reason. the décor is very basic, ok for an Italian trattoria, but then having the staff dressed in black tie makes for a weird mix. The service is beyond bad. There were literally 3 tables in the entire restaurant and we had to wait 40 minutes for the bill. And about 30 minutes inbetween starters and mains. I witnessed comical scenes of the waiter not being "allowed" to serve tables - that was only the manager's (or whatever "senior" title he had) job. As was taking the orders, arranging the bill, and so on. Typical Italian hierarchy working at its best. The food, when it arrived, was generally good, but with so little footfall one must wonder how fresh the produce will be over time....

The food was good, but it is at least 30% too expensive than the other restaurant in the area. Service was awful as they have this very formal, "ancient regime", hierarchical structure where the the very junior waiter can only take empty plates and bring bread/oil, etc. The more senior waiter can bring plates around and interact with clients by taking orders, but cannot put them on the table and only the most senior person can bring the plates to the table and do the bill... it works if there is one table, but since there were 3 tables it took us 40 minutes only to get the bill. On top they are all dress up like penguins. This inefficient formalism doesn't bode well with the surrounding area...

This is a small Italian restaurant slightly off the busy Portobello road, on a Kensington Park road. Cozy environment, attentive staff , great food and wine from Puglia. We really enjoyed our dinner. Don' t miss the desserts. The lemon cake is something special. My husband had Tiramisu and enjoyed it too. Thanks to Picola Cucina for the lovely evening.

amazing pasta; friendly service while things were going well. then after a long wait for main course (half an hour at least) it came cold. we sent it back. service with a smile slipped a bit. then it came back having been microwaved. friend had the chicken which tasted of absolutely nothing. we left without dessert because at these prices, this isn't good enough. won't return.

Proper fresh italian food in a lovely and cosy atmosphere which made us feel at home. The maitre, Francesco, kindly suggested us the best dishes and the most fresh fish they had. It has been an amazing experience!

Tutti parlavano a voce alta. Fastidioso.

Visited here for Sunday lunch and we were blown away by the quality of the food. We tried 4 of the pastas on the menu, and unsure which was the best! Please visit this restaurant if you want some of the best Italian food this city has to offer. The service was also wonderful and our lunch turned into a very long one as we didn't want to leave. We even had then pleasure of meeting the chef as an added treat. We shall be returning, regularly...

A dinner that could not have been better in Italy! The Caponata to die for, the seabass tartar was wonderful! As a main, prawns from the Mediterranean Sea with the typical sweet taste, the tuna in pistachios very tasteful. And all that was topped with a homemade Tiramisu which you could not have eaten any better in Italy. You feel like in an Italian heaven in the middle of Notting Hill! Great wine list, great service. And all that for a reasonable price. We will come back!!!

Food is very good and definitely worth a visit. I did not have the highly recommended fish but went for the "elephants ears" milanese. It was fab. Very tasty and huge! All vegetables were beautifully fresh and the tirimasu one of the best I have had in London.

The restaurant is cosy and atmospheric and the staff, charming, warm and Italian. The only down side of this wonderful restaurant was the price. Frankly, I thought it was a bit steep.... If you are drinking wine go for a bottle.

I look forward to returning.

Many restaurants in Notting Hill and its surrounds have been in situ for years, and thus have gained notoriety as 'old favourites'. In time the same accolaid will be bestowed upon Piccola Cucina, I'm sure. The interior is pleasant, if not remarkable, but we ate some of the best Italian food I've tasted in 30 years of living in London. A display of great breadth and depth, you should not be put off by the eyebrow-lifting prices. Also has a pizzeria, which we didn't visit.

In the trendy area of Notting Hill there's a place where every Londoners should have an amazing experience named Piccola Cucina at least once.An intimate food and senses journey with an extremely professional friendly personnel where Francesco leads the scenes. A travel towards The sunny South Italy, inspired by the Sicilian chef, with the taste of a rich Parmigiana or the freshness of a tuna tartare. The right selection of Italian wines like a Primitivo or the frizzy Cava to go with one of the best lobster linguini ever had.You won't find a better price/quality in the area..maybe in the city

For I've been in Piccola Cucina NY, it was not a big surprise for me the great quality and the friendly atmosphere you can find in this restaurant! The disclosure has been its opening in London, in my opinion the best Italian restaurant in the City! Touristic in no way, here you can taste the real Sicilian flavors. I suggest you to try the swordfish rolls and the lobster linguini, just gorgeous!

As a lover of the italian food I have eaten there with some friends recently. It was all perfect. The atmosphere is plaesant and the place is nice to see, the service is good and employees are very gentle, the quality of the food is very high and the composition of the courses is not trivial, even for the most traditional ones. All my friends were satisfied too. Will come back soon!

I have eaten at their other restaurant in NYC years ago, but when I stumbled upon Piccola Cucina right here in London I had to try to it. I love Italian food and have eaten at some of the best and I must say...Piccola Cucina stands up to them all. The food was fantastic from the appetisers to the main to the desert - the service was excellent - and the ambience is modern, inviting and warm. What a great new gem in Nottinghill!!!

Leider keine gute Empfehlung

We recently enjoyed a delightful lunch at Osteria Basilico in Notting Hill as part of our Halloween trip to London. This cozy Italian spot, just a short walk from Portobello Road, served up an amazing pizza experience. The kids loved their classic margherita, while we tried a special pizza topped with air-dried beef, burrata, and rocket salad, enhanced with a splash of balsamic vinegar—it was delicious! The menu was extensive, filled with tempting pasta dishes. A good sign of quality was seeing several single diners, including an elderly gentleman outside savouring his pasta. Overall, Osteria Basilico is a fantastic choice if you’re craving authentic Italian food in a charming setting.

Excellent food and good family service. The atmosphere was perhaps a little formal for a Chelsea lunch but nevertheless very charming. Set price lunch was not cheap, especially when you are charged a lot extra for things you like. However, quality was top notch and portions were about right. Wine was pricey as per most restaurants in London these days. There were, at least, some decent wines on the list which represented relative good value.

Have just returned from meeting friends for lunch. We ordered the special - the crab salad with avocado for £21 each. It was truly inedible. The crab was so salty, as was the salad. There were four tiny pieces of avo and four tiny pieces of tomato, all on a bed of lettuce. We did let the staff know. They did bring us a further portion of crab, it was slightly less salty but still inedible. The tiramisu was delicious. The staff were lovely.
