Aglio e Olio in Kensington and Chelsea

Have just returned from meeting friends for lunch. We ordered the special - the crab salad with avocado for £21 each. It was truly inedible. The crab was so salty, as was the salad. There were four tiny pieces of avo and four tiny pieces of tomato, all on a bed of lettuce. We did let the staff know. They did bring us a further portion of crab, it was slightly less salty but still inedible. The tiramisu was delicious. The staff were lovely.

This is one restaurant to avoid!! The atmosphere instantly felt uncomfortable as you were greeted by a sullen faced woman and a shifty looking man. Before I even sat down, the woman asked me if I wanted to order from the specials and when I said I’d like to order pasta from their regular menu, walked off abruptly and looked annoyed I didn’t want to order a more expensive special. Shortly after I ordered, the man asked me to move to another table so they could combine my table for the bigger booking later which I didn’t mind but thought was odd. On top of that, I felt pressured to leave quickly as they tried to get me to pay before I finished my meal. I asked them twice if they could let me finish first as that sort of behavior is very off putting. Even though they greeted customers from larger parties with more enthusiasm, it still reeked of insincerity and greed. It seems they’re one way with a certain clientele and another way with the rest of us, I’ll let you fill in the blanks here. Can’t believe I paid the 12.5% service charge for that appalling service. The restaurant though clean, was dark, cold and uninviting. The food was half decent but nothing special - al dente pasta with very scarce toppings and very expensive for what it’s worth. I wish they also told me when I asked for sparkling water that it would come in a big 750ml bottle. Had I known, I would not have ordered it. This is by far the worst service I’ve experienced in London, and for the average food, uncomfortable atmosphere and above average prices, don’t waste your time with this place.

Everything was just fine, nothing special. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Food was ok, service was good but dead atmosphere.

Go for the Italian food and no more. The liver dish was excellent, we were a party of 21, everyone enjoyed the food, every item was excellent but the bread (cotton) and olive oil marginal.

Used to go here all the time and it was great! But there’s been a change of management and it’s much less friendly. Dodgy addition of a service charge which we asked about and we got a very hostile response.

Italian restaurant in Chelsea, really close to the hospital. Portions are generous though quite expensive to be italian. We really enjoyed the veal schnitzel and the meatball pasta. Lovely staff.

The food was delicious and such a good atmosphere, Mare was very attentive and made our visit perfect!

The food at this Italian restaurant was delicious.Also the atmosphere and attentiveness of the staff is what really made this place stand out.An example of this was when my friend ordered freshly fried calamari which is not something that is usually on the menu but the chef fulfilled our request nonetheless. I myself ordered the taglierini truffle and it was the best version of this pasta I’ve ever had and that is no exaggeration.If your in the area and want somewhere nice to eat I would definitely recommend this place.

Not sure about this place- felt very uneasy there. It appears if you're local, he (whoever the big kahuna is), is all over you- if he doesn't like you, he's border-line rude! It's as if he's doing you a favour for you being there! The food is hit and miss. To sum up, the place is like an old favourite, it was nice once, but now it needs something else!

I enjoyed very much the meal and the price was very nice.

This is a special little place which has a timeless menu. It does fantastic traditional Italian food. Good portions and phenomenal flavours.

Favourite italian in London by miles

We had an off the menu Dover sole that was really amazing. It’s worth asking on the weekend if there are any often menu specials because they often have great ones. Sometimes they have a wonderful Osso Buco. The menu and the normal specials board provide lots of choices, so when we went there tonight, on a Sunday night, we were certainly not disappointed for lack of choice. we split the crab and avocado salad which is excellent and had a mixed grill plus an order of the truffle tagliolini. Both were really good. We also ordered the french fries, because we couldn’t resist and they are so good here as they taste freash. Another plus is that everything comes out really hot, as if they rush it out to you immediately after it leaves the stove. That’s nice. The atmosphere is unassuming and this is not a large place. The manager Alex and staff are very attentive and friendly. We had a wonderful, delicious reasonably priced Sunday night meal, highly recommended!

Local restaurant. Seafood linguini was delicious. Good mix of seafood. The Zabaglioni was decadent , whipped hot light custard flavoured with Marsala wine.

I have Been going to this restaurant for a couple of years now, and rate it as one of the best Italian meals in town. A family restaurant with no frills, just great food and service. Zabaglioni is sublime!

Mostly nice service. Huge portions (never a good sign) but the pasta was nicely al dente. Sauce so-so, mussels cold, prawns overcooked. Aubergine starter nice if one scrapes off the nasty mayo. Nice Primitivo by the glass. Loos need mixer tap and modern hand-dryer.

We had so looked forward to eating at this place and were very disappointed with our visit. The food was OK, but the staff clearly did not like us for some reason and we could not understand why. We were not made to feel welcome, were ignored by the staff and just not treated well. The regulars were treated wonderfully, as we could see, but as visitors were were not. In addition, and annoyingly, the staff crossed out the total on our check and inserted a tip. Clearly, if you are a mere tourist or visitor to London avoid this place.

Really Italian restaurant with pasta de cecco, pasta fresca, meat and fish very fresh and cooked with passion and desert tirami su (home made) al top... Excellent.

4 of us went there for supper & had a confirmed reservation. When we got there, we were told that we'd have to wait a bit as our table was not ready. We had to stand by the counter, no one offered us a drink & after 20 minutes we left & went to eat somewhere else. I would not go there again.

Excellent pasta place with a pure Italian flavor. Pasta is like in Italy. I tried the pasta aglio et olio. Great, simple and great! Tiramisu was very good too. Service top. Also stays open late, so you can go there after a Chelsea game!

Food quality, quantity and service is just amazing. Been there a few times now and the experience has been consistently great. Since I eat only halal I haven't tried their meats myself. I do however have their vegetarian and seafood options. However, others at my table have enjoyed the chicken and veal dishes.

Cambiate nome, non è un ristorante italiano. La pasta non può essere precotta, se sei italiano te ne accorgi. Spaghetti aglio e olio abbiamo preso 2 piatti e 1 rigatoni con salsa di pomodoro e basilico, 1 acqua e 1 birra piccola moretti, 57 sterline. Vergognoso non solo abbiamo mangiato male, abbiamo anche pagato tanto per la qualità, non andate!

Overpriced average to good food with mediocre service. The location is good and the mood of the place is nice and relaxed. Unfortunately, the food in general was not amazing (not bad either), for a £20+ dish we got an overcooked pasta with an OK sauce that had a meagre amount of crab and the desserts came slightly cold and badly presented. Not deal breakers, but not worth the money in my opinion. Wine was good and reasonably priced. Service was a bit inattentive with the food arriving at very different times, but they were kind. I know its hard to stand out with Italian food, but I find you can have a better experience for the same price at the many other Italian restaurants in Chelsea.

Quaint, cute little authentic Italian restaurant! The servers are very pleasant and the food was quite good. If you sit near the back you get to see into the kitchen which is interesting to observe, if that’s something you enjoy! Not a ton of tables so probably best to make a reservation; it’s also a bit cramped which made the atmosphere a little less pleasant. All in all though it was a nice time.

Wonderful neighbourhood restaurant. The food is just brilliant, I would recommend the spaghettini with prawns & capers.

A true institution of the Fulham Road. Consistently excellent Italian food with the most welcoming staff around. Been coming here for years and have never come close to being disappointed.

Food is absolutely amazing. Everything is so fresh and seasoned to perfection. The spaghetti Lobster and grilled calamari is to die for. Always recommend this place to family and friends. One of my favourite places to eat at. Staff is always so friendly and the service is amazing. Niko especially is always so welcoming and polite. 10/10 food and service!!

Went for dinner with 2 kids and my husband at the place that used to come for years don’t understand what happened with the prices and the portions rigatoni was so small looked like 2 portions divided by 3 normally we never needed as much food as the portions was always good but now it’s not the same the price on the website is very different from what we paid food is good but for this price we can eat in many nicer restaurants then this one it was favourite family quick food place but not anymore I understand time changes as everything but to make smaller portions so ppl ordering more that’s not ok at all in this kind of place and I never understood the 30£ service charge???! Are we joking !!! 12.50% everywhere but somehow we been charged 15%?! Very sad (

Food was OK. Not bad but nothing particularly exciting. Somewhat expensive for what we got. Service seemed somewhat miserable but maybe it was just that staff were busy. On another day, our experience may have been better.

Excellent choice of filling and tasty food on the menu and the "specials" black board. This is backed up by excellent and friendly service and reasonable prices. The Zabaglione sweet was the best I have ever tasted. A busy ambiance. Yes, give it a try...

By far one the best Italian places in London. Been going now for almost 12 years, at least once or twice a month and the food is so consistent ALWAYS! Cute local restaurant and would highly recommend. The staff are also the nicest and most efficent and have always upheld those standars. Wonderful place, must try!

I made a reservation at Aglio e Olio for three people. When my party arrived, we were not greeted in a positive way, which was already unusual. Although there were several empty tables, we were not seated and instead asked to wait. A moment later another party of three arrived - they were greeted with warmth by the host who then, added a third chair to a small square table for two and offered that our three sit there. There would be a struggle to have three dinner plates on a table of this size. When we protested that we had a reservation for three and that we would be quite uncomfortable sitting at a table meant for two, the host said that was all he had to offer us, and if we did not like it we could leave. It was clear that the party of three who had arrived after us were to be offered a table for four in our stead. I do not know why the host treated my family this way or why he treated us poorly from the first moment that he saw us, but I do know that we looked different than the other patrons in the restaurant as our skin was darker. Perhaps there is an explanation unrelated to how we looked - the family who came after us were regulars? we weren't wearing the right clothes? I don't know. But, if you value eating in a restaurant where all customers are treated fairly, this was not our experience of Aglio e Olio.

I was searching for nice Italian food in London and i went to Aglio e olio. The pasta was wonderful, very fresh and very good portions for the price. I couldn’t even finish it!! The staff was very friendly. It worth to try.

Sur un séjour de 5 jours, nous sommes allés 3 fois dans ce restaurant. Ce dernier est de dimension réduite mais la cuisine est de qualité. Ici pas de pizza mais de la vraie cuisine itallienne avec des pâtes, du poisson, du veau... La relation est rapidement chaleureuse. Manifestement, la clientèle est constituée d'habitués, résidant à proximité. L'addition est très correcte : 34 livres environ pour deux plats et deux bières. On est dans la moyenne. Attention, il est préférable de réserver car le restaurant est vite plein. Service affable et efficace.

The place is very simple with a Italian cuisine menu. Had 2 plates of pasta for lunch and I can say that was delicious. Is a quick easy place,good prices and the service is very fast . I recommend for a delicious,fast lunch. The rigatoni with pancetta and mushrooms are extremely good! Will be back.

Easy to walk right by this place. It’s a fair way back down the Fulham Rd by the hospital. But it’s well worth the walk. Friendly service, proper simple regional Italian recipes, good house red and slightly rambling but energetic friendly service. A warm buzz emanates from all the tables. I had a marvellous pasta dish of ‘orecchiette with broccoli & Italian sausage’. I will be returning. Sensibly priced for this part of London.

Italian restaurant with pasta that's not fresh! The gnocchi was frozen packet gnocchi and the pasta dish was dry without much sauce. I know the owner was not expecting custom on the night but our experience was not good. The 'homemade' tiramisu tasted as if it had been homemade before Christmas and in the refrigerator for several days.

From outside - unimpressive & tables/chairs look uncomfortable & v.plain & simple decor. Friendly staff. Wines expensive for choices available + large mark up on half bottles! Many reviews comment on the noise ...yep, it’s noisy. Menu good. And the punchline ....the food is AMAZING! Great portion sizes and piping hot which I really like as I can eat (and digest) nice and slowly. Top marks! Defo be back with MOGL.

I went with my husband for his birthday. He ordered 7 up and came half full. He called the waiter to bring the rest of the can and the waiter was aggressive. He brought the left over can and threw it on the table. He even said on our way out that he will smash our face against the wall if we ever come back. We are in the process of calling the police for this threat. What kind of customer Service is that ?!!!! Doesn’t even deserve a point!

After many decades of eating in London, this restaurant serves the best Italian food I have ever eaten in London. Aglio e Olio in Fulham Road is a family restaurant, noisy, friendly and very welcoming.

No se desanime por las mesas y la decoración básica, la comida es excelente. Dicho esto, alrededor del cual se hace eco hace ruido no es el lugar para ir si usted está levemente hablado amigo comedor. Pero volviendo a la comida, el atún, la ternera en salsa de limón y pollo con mozzarella y berenjena eran todas muy buenas. He oído que la pasta es excelente. Tendré que la próxima vez!

Un amigo que vive bastante cerca del restaurante me trajo aquí. El exterior no es para nada ostentoso y casi poco atractiva. Pero una vez dentro, la acogida es cálida y sincera.

Buena variedad a la carta de comida italiana auténtica (ensaladas, pastas, carnes, etc.), complementada con un menú diario bueno y variado. Buenos ingredientes La sopa de lentejas en invierno es increíble! Almuerzo para 2 personas (2 platos, copa de vino cada uno) aproximadamente 70. Servicio bueno y rápido Muchos clientes leales frecuentan este lugar. Digo ir a almorzar porque su único inconveniente es que es bastante ruidoso y tiene una decoración muy básica. Pero no dejes que eso te desanime. Este lugar es consistente y confiablemente bueno.

Este no es un restaurante elegante, pero no te desanime por su básico y tengo que decir que es un poco aburrido, la comida y el servicio son insuperables, muy italiano y muy bueno,
