Our favorite breakfast place in London. Avocado Brunch (avocado, fired egg, chili fakes on fresh bread) and Chorizo Morning (chorizo, mushrooms, eggs and feta on bread) were our favorites, but I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Very pleasant cafe in a fairly unique location, the centre of Surrey Docks Farm. Great for afternoon tea and cakes. Not necessarily the cheapest though, especially if you want to build your own breakfast... £2 for one sausage??? Shame it's opening times are also constrained to those of the farm so don't expect an evening meal.

We visited the surrounding farm with friends and children and we stopped for lunch: the place is unpretentious but the food is simple and great (top quality sausages, rich full breakfast, massive eggs Benedict). Staff is also really friendly and welcoming (we had one gluten intolerant in our group and they accommodated her requests with no problem) and prices are low.If you happen to be in the area pop in, you won't be disappointed.

I have been going here for 4 years however my experience yesterday was terrible. The office arrived and my sausage was stone cold, not even Luke warm and only got one piece of toast. Another person had two cold sausage and bacon on there plate. We informed the waitress that the sausages were cold and normally we get two pieces of toast. She did not apologise and said we would get fresh ones. My friend also tried the bacon which was stone coldFriend "my bacon is also stone coldWaitress "what do you want me to do about it? Put it in the microwave"If we did not have other people with us I would have asked for a refund, as the waitress clearly needs some more training. The table beside us only complained and were told there were two new chefs - hardly an excuse for cold food! Seriously disappointed and hope they can get back to there usual good standard.

I always complain to the business in question first before posting any kind of public review, but they have ignored two emails I've sent them so clearly they are not bothered about bad customer experiences, which I find shocking for a small business. My husband and I went for brunch on a Sunday. We got there at 1pm and I went to the till to place our order. After asking for French toast I was told there was no fresh fruit in the café (which it comes with) and was I happy with jam instead. Ummm, no not really. I said I presumed they also didn't have the banana porridge in that case, (the other thing I would have ordered), and they confirmed they didn't. I wanted a sweet breakfast, suddenly none were available. There were so many staff in the café (two of which seemed to be on their phones a lot) and there were two and a half hours left of service. Could someone really not have nipped to the local supermarket to pick up some fruit? Crazy.I ordered the chorizo morning and the avocado brunch to share with my husband. I'm pregnant so I asked for the eggs to be well done in the chorizo dish and for one of the eggs in the avocado dish to be well done as we were sharing. I talked this through with the girl 3 times and she even discussed it with the kitchen before I left the till, yet the chorizo breakfast came out with runny eggs, and the avocado brunch came out with two hard fried eggs. Initially my husband said it didn't matter as we were in a hurry to get home, so I ate around the runny eggs, but when he came to eat his fried egg it was just too overcooked and rubbery, so he brought it up and asked for a new egg that was cooked the way it should have been.We waited for 7-10 mins and nothing came. I would have thought the fact that we were halfway through breakfast they would have prioritised it, but clearly not. He asked a waitress if she knew how long it would be, she checked and said they were cooking it. Still nothing, so he went up again a few minutes later and said we needed to go, where was the egg. The chef in the kitchen grunted at him that she was doing it, and he said it's too late now, we need to leave, so they offered to give it to him to take away?! Pretty ludicrous suggestion. Don't know anyone who enjoys cold, runny eggs at home. I should also add that in the middle of this one of the chefs was outside the kitchen on his phone. It would have been advisable to deal with a disgruntled customer's problem before taking a break. They eventually gave him the money back for the avocado dish and he made himself food at home.We have been to the café before and thought in recent months it had been great, but walking 20 minutes there to find they didn't have any fresh fruit, getting service like that, and then having my complaint ignored has well and truly assured we will never be returning.

I live in the area so have been a few times taking friends-with the farm it's real popular for old and young alike. What bothers me is the fact they have increased the amount of tables but don't provide table service. So there's often long queues just to order food. When I brought a group I ended up queuing 3 times as ordered extra items. And despite doing breakfast items you can't just order a breakfast you have to choose items individually-with horrible home-made beans which I wouldn't recommend. But the food is nice

Had breakfast here today with a friend. Have previously had breakfast or coffee and cakes a number of times. Each time had a nice time. Service can sometimes be slow, today it was great. But it's a really laid back place, popular with locals, and especially those with young children, given its in a city farmBreakfast for two and coffee/ tea was £15. Not cheap but pretty good value. A range of different cooked breakfasts, you can build your own too. Nice range of cakes, normally have some gluten free, also nice looking lunch though I've never had this.Recommended as an independent, alternative place, with good freshly cooked food and very nice staff. And afterwards you can feed the animals and walk round the farm and enjoy the riversideRecommended

We were visiting the farm with our two year old. I was pleasantly surprised by the cafe: I expected the usual half-stale sandwiches these places tend to have. In fact the food was really tasty and the portions large. My husband had a burger and chips. My boy stole most of the chips, jumping up and down ecstatically. They were good. My macaroni cheese was really tasty; the pasta a little al dente as it should be. It came with a big salad. We finished with a really rich and delicious chocolate ice cream. I wish I'd brought some cake home.My boy was annoying and there were loads of other little'uns running around, as you would expect at a children's farm! But as another reviewer said, romantic destination this is not. I'd say that it is worth a bit of shrieking to eat such nice food in very pleasant surroundings. Prices were reasonable. My only criticism would be that it did take some time for the food to arrive. The place was busy and they aren't microwaving stuff, so fair dos. I would recommend.

Have eaten here a number of times, and aside from one week which was pretty much a disaster (very slow service, cold food) the food has been consistently fresh and delicious. Do agree with previous reviewer that portions have become a bit stingy; I regularly order a sausage sandwich (at £3.60) and in the past few weeks this has turned into one sausage in between two slices of bread. From what I have seen of the kids meals these seem very generous (often the amount of pasta on the plate seems more than the adult equivalent!). Not great in terms of value if you are a grown up, even if it is very high quality and exceptionally fresh. The small menu changes monthly and is usually made with love and care. Service can be a bit shaky at times; on Saturdays it can get exceptionally slow. It's very small café too, so finding seating can be a challenge. That said, it's still without doubt one of the best places to eat in the area if you value flavour, quality ingredients and freshness.

Today was a warm sunny and busy Saturday at Piccalilli Cafe at Surrey Quays farm. Instead of doing something sensible such as communicating long wait times the café's manager thought that it was most appropriate to close the kitchen at 2:30pm - just as there were 30 people queuing out of the door for food and drinks. The kitchen usually closes at 4pm and had not even run out of food. Apparently they closed the kitchen to protect (destroy) their brand - reliably good food. Well now everyone knows that they cannot rely on any food at all in this corner of south east London which is not exactly close to other options, especially when you are with a young family.

We stopped off at Piccalilli Caff midway through a cycle ride: we were presently surprised by the number of veggie dishes on offer. I chose the courgetti along with a beetroot smoothie. Both were really good - the courgetti was some of the best veggie food I've ever had in London. My partner had a beetroot an feta dish which he loved too. We were very impressed by the quality of Piccalilli's food given it's such an unassuming little cafe. The cafe is part of Surrey Docks farm: a city farm where you can pet and feed the animals. Therefore there were lots of families with young kids in the cafe. We didn't mind the screaming the the giggling and the running around but this isn't the place to have a quiet, romantic lunch. If you having a long walk along the south bank of the Thames I wholeheartedly recommend this place as a stop-off for lunch. Just don't expect it to be a quiet meal

We (a smallish party of walkers) had lunch here today and, although it is outwardly nothing to write home about, we had a delicious lunch. This is what it says it is - a caff (ie not a smart restaurant). It is run by two young brothers and a friend and the food was excellent: some had pumpkin soup, some had steak sandwiches, one had stuffed pumpkin, my husband had fish pie and I had avocado brunch (two slices of mashed avocado on toast each topped by an egg with chilli flakes and parsley - simple but fantastic). Everyone said their food was delicious and the ingredients used are well sourced. The service was good and speedy. If you happen to be in this neck of the woods (not all that likely), then this is a very good place to stop and have lunch - it might even be worth going out of your way to go there, especially as there is the farm to see as well. It is very child friendly. So, for what it was (ie not pretending to be anything other than a caff), it was good with simple, delicious food, served with a smile.

The avocado was delicious, just the right amount of chilli. I had it with a poached egg instead of fried. No problem. The orange juice was freshly squeezed. The coffee from Monmouth Coffee company. The walk along the river afforded some spectacular and surprising views. The herb garden was beautifully maintained and the farm animals looked happy and well cared for. This used to be one of our favourite places for coffee, breakfast and brunch. It used to be called Frizzante but we saw earlier this year that it was under new management. For some reason it is now called Piccalilli "Caff". Although it is now cleaner and smarter it has lost much of its charm. We went in May and weren't impressed. The tempting blackboard of 'specials' had gone and the permanently open door gave one end of the café a strong farm smell. We had gone for a coffee and cake but the menus and cake selection were not out (at 11am) although the cakes came out just as we left. We decided to try once more in June - this time the menus were out but with a much reduced and disappointing selection. However, there were cakes this time so we each had a thin, dry slice of walnut cake. These were very expensive for their size and slightly stale. Sadly, I don't think we will be going back again.
