Friendly little Portuguese café of character. Excellent coffee and home made cakes, or sit in for something delicious and unusual for lunch or supper. Generous portions. I think that even the bread was home made. I would be extremely happy to find a place like this in Madeira or London, let alone King's Lynn. You may not recognise everything on the counter, but just ask.

A lovely family from Madeira who home cook the best Portuguese tarts ever! We’ve tried them from a celebrated patisserie in Lisbon and Picapau’s were better! I had a delicious octopus sandwich as well. What a delightful cafe to be found in the heart of the town

I regularly popping in to have one of the excellent Portuguese coffees they do. I also love the great cake selection that are made in house. You get a lot of the product for your money. The meals are absolutely gorgeous and they are made all from fresh ingredients. The bifana that they do is absolutely gorgeous. That is the best £4, You will ever spend with proper fresh Portuguese bifana bread. You wont be disappointed if you ever go there.

Just went into that li’l slice of Portugal-in-Kings Lynn, Picapau for a sandwich. Great sandwich, made fresh at the counter, just like snacking on holiday but … I tried a Pastel de Nata (egg custard) and HYPERBOLE ALERT my face just exploded in complete delight !! I was embarrassed at how vocal I was, stood eating at the counter. Absolutely amazing. The guy gifted me the custard which was a generous thing to do. This is a fantastic little cafe (named after they spicy bar snack of thinly-cut pork with beer gravy) with a straight-from-your-holidays cafe menu with great daily specials. Awesome

Enjoyed a great Sunday lunch here with my wife, sister and niece. Real Portuguese food served Madeira style. Tuna steak served with salad, rice, potatoes. We followed this with fabulous cakes. Fantastic food; served by ultra friendly owners; real value for money. Added bonus - so much to eat that won’t need to eat for a while.

If u are looking for something a little different then this little portuguese cafe is a place to visit. Great customer service, with fantastic cakes, snacks, or main dishes available with weekly portuguese specials on offer. Having only found the cafe a few weeks ago can't stop going back as the food freshly cooked and very tasty 😋

We popped in for brunch and not really knowing what we wanted asked the man behind the counter to recommend something. We had a couple of sweetened bread rolls with ham and cheese and a couple of coffee and two Portuguese tarts. Oh wow.beautiful food and the coffee was one of the best flat whites I've ever had. If you're in the area, this place is a must

My wife had the chicken salad and I had the steak sandwich. Both were excellent. The coffee was also the best we have had in a long time. Give this place a try.

We ordered through just eat. Asked for two chicken burgers amongst other things. We received the pictured burgers which were definitely not chicken! When we rang to complain we were rudely told we were wrong and then hung up on. I will not be ordering...

I booked for a party of 10 people, we were asked to pre order, which I fully understand. Some of our party did change their order once we were there, this was done with out any hassle. we were all addressed by our names which was amazing as I can't sometime remember my own lol. The food was the best I'd had in a long time, excellently presented and also the flavours define. Everyone should give this small restaurant a try, If I lived closer then I would use it frequently. The only thing I would say, it doesn't stand out in the street, and in such a competitive high street full of eating places it needs something to draw people off the street. Well done guys, hopefully see you next year if we go to Twinwood.

We ate Sunday lunch. The food was was very good and at £18 for a main I thought was reasonable value. Four of us paid £120 including service charge. Sunday lunch menu is more limited than the evening menu. There were four starters, a choice of topside of beef, chicken supreme, pork belly and vegetarian option. All came with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. A cauliflower cheese option was also available at extra cost There were only two desserts on the menu and we tried both which were excellent. Top tip. There are two dining areas one downstairs and one up. Access to the upstairs is via a steep spiral staircase. If you struggle with stairs for any reason avoid this area and I'd check where your table is when booking. Service was friendly but a little slow. Partly because it was so busy. My only criticism was our table upstairs was on the small side and felt a bit cramped.

Not been to the Poachers since it reopened. A real village pub with all types of people. The menu, it might look like a usual pub menu, but the quality of the cooking was amazing, especially the Stilton and celery soup. I would think it is all home made, by the quality, nothing bought in. Really friendly accommodating staff, made the meal even nicer Looking forward to going again, even if I ask for two lots of soup as a starter and main! I don’t even like Stilton, but it was lovely.

We enjoyed a one night stay for a birthday celebration. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable rest! Loved the bathroom and the bed was huge and we slept really well! Although we had our very own alarm, that being the church bells ringing at 9.30 calling everyone to service lol Tea n coffee facilities were good and had plenty of it! Would definitely stay again soon for a cosy stay!
