It is an enduring brand with more than 20 years history. A high-end restaurant with traditional Chinese characteristics. Cantonese cuisine is very sophisticated. You can taste that the ingredients are very fresh and the sauce is very delicate and delicious. The chef controls the heat very well. We ordered roast pork and roast duck. The skin of the roasted pork is very crispy, and the roasted duck is also amazing. It made me feel like I was back in Guangzhou again. 👍

Only ordered dim sum dishes and very disappointed with the quality. The glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf was oversteamed and the rice was all soggy and resembled congee. The prawn hargow and beef dumplings were also overdone that they appeared to be reheated again and again. Definitely nothing seemed to be freshly made. The only dish I enjoyed was the fried pork and prawn turnip cake as it was supposed to be fried so perfect for those who enjoys well fried dishes. Ordered 4 dim sum dishes and a coconut sago pudding. Bill came to almost £60

Decoration is very nice, traditional Chinese feel. My chair was a bit rocky, the joints were loose. On arrival the guy was very surly and unfriendly, just took us to the table and left. After 15 minutes we had to ask someone to come and take a drinks order. Basically, every time we wanted something we had to call someone, they didn't bother to check. None of the waiters seemed very friendly. A smile here and there wouldn't hurt, especially since the service charge is 13%. The food quality and taste was pretty good, but a lot of the portion sizes were very small. The steamed sea bass was very good, and the fish looked fresh. However, next day my mouth was very dry, so I guess they use a lot of salt or MSG. Overall, not bad, but probably better venues locally for the price.

Went to phoenix palace for dim sum. First impression the decoration felt unreal because i seldom frequent Chinese restaurants with decorations. Food wise, we had one dim sum that wasn't warmed up when it arrived. But they replaced it with a newly warmed up dim sum. Service was good. Our tea pot of tea was filled up without us asking them about it. There were quite a lot of tables filled up and it was quite a good atmosphere. All in all. Not a bad place to go for dim sum.

I took my family to Phoenix Palace for dinner based on the good reviews. The decor was lovely and it seemed busy. The waiting staff were pleasant however the food while plentiful was not. Our spare ribs were dry, hard and flavourless, we couldn’t eat them. The sweet and sour dish was lacking flavour as were many of the other dishes we ordered. I’m not sure how you manage to make sweet and sour without much sweetness but it happened. This could be forgiven if it wasn’t for the high price of the dishes, the total per head worked out at around £45, for a starter, main dish, rice and soft drink only. Maybe we were unlucky with our food choices but I will definitely not be returning.

I have been eating dim sum for over 25 years and in recent years it has been hard to find really good dim sum, this was probably the best i have eaten in recent years. great attentive service which can also be difficult to find in some of the more well known establishments. It is slightly tucked away in a side street, this I believe is a big plus.Other restaurants located in baker street etc do not seem to value thier customers as much as the Phoenix Palace. It all started when we were given a table right next to the waiter stool. We were constantly observed by the staff, who kept on patrolling the area. One of them could barely understand the language and ended up leaving. Another waitress aggressively chopped the duck and rudely placed the dishes on the table. The atmosphere was unpleasant. When we asked for the bill, we noticed an added “descretionary service charge” of 13%. That meant that leaving a tip for the service should have been optional, and not automatically added into the total cost. Upon a confrontation with another waiter about this matter, he responded incredibly out of line: “Yes, it is mandatory to pay this fee, unless you think our service is bad”. Of course, as the situation got really awkward we ended up paying the fee, and feeling regretful afterwards. Whilst the food was worth its value, such an atosphere with insensitive and incompetent service ruins the overall dining experience.

It’s wonderful to think about our long-standing connection with Phoenix Chinese restaurant! 🥟 The fact that it has evolved over time, from an Indian restaurant, Viceroy of India to another Chinese Restaurant called, “Trade Winds”, to its current Chinese iteration, Phoenix Chinese restaurant! 🥟 adds a layer of nostalgia. And the telepathic connection we feel with the venue is truly intriguing! 😊 Now, let’s talk about those “Onion Cakes.” While many Chinese restaurants in London offer a variety of dim sum, it’s exciting to discover a unique dish that sets this particular restaurant apart. Unfortunately, I don’t have specific information about this dish, but I recommend exploring more about it during your next visit. Perhaps you can inquire with Charlie, the commander-in-chief, and learn more about the story behind these onion cakes! 🌟 The ambiance sounds delightful, making it an ideal spot for celebrations or romantic meals. Our compliments and appreciation for the staff will undoubtedly motivate them to continue providing excellent service. 🙌 Wishing the restaurant continued success as they strive for the peak! 🎉 If you ever need more restaurant recommendations or have any other requests, feel free to ask! 😊

We've been in London for a few days and fancied an oriental meal so booked a table. We arrived perfectly on time and we're greeted at the door and sat immediately. The restaurant was half empty and we soon realised why, the servers were abrupt, and ill mannered to start. When we ordered our food and drinks the server didn't know the menu and told us they did not infact sell venison. I showed him that they infact did venison and lemongrass was under the GAME section of the menu none surprisingly and was not the only venison dish they sold. When they brought the drinks the server placed the drinks and walked away without saying anything he had placed my tiger beer and had infact given my partner a fruit punch rather than the frozen fruit daiquiri she had ordered. I asked her whether she would like me to raise the issue as she has anxiety and she said 'no thankyou' so we waited on our food. The atmosphere was icy and the restaurant was still half empty when my brisket and soft noodles arrived with a plat of belly pork and bao buns... not what she ordered. We raised that issue and the food was replaced shaeinf my brisket as we waited. I should point out I am a butcher and whoever sold them that brisket should be shot. Flavourless and fatty and under cooked the melt in your mouth brisket it should have been was a chew until your jaw hurts brisket. The noodles were overly salty and luke warm. Finally my partners dish arrived and it was salty and far too perfumed with ill prepared lemon grass. In conclusion when in the area I can recommend the little bagel shop in the tube station around the corner instead of this pretentious, overpriced, and terrible jumped up takeaway.

I didn’t argue as I didn’t want to make a fuss when dining with someone special. The wine was very nice, probably one of the best I had in the UK and China as well, though! After getting off the train, I searched for the closest Chinese restaurant to this restaurant and came over. The young lady at the reception was very nice, but everything changed after I came in. Most of the waiters were Hong Kong people. After sitting down at the table on the steps, , two waiters serve this area, the female waiter is slightly better, the male waiter simply has discrimination written on his face, will not look at you, asks you to pour two glasses of water, and leaves after finishing the meal. But serving food to the locals or Hong Kong people at the table next to you is extremely hot. If you want to feel this kind of discrimination, you can come and feel it. The dishes are a bit Western-style, the spicy ones are all sour... the fried rice is stir-fried with salad dressing... it's very frustrating. In addition, the waiter's attitude can be said to have affected the entire meal experience. It is the most discriminatory service I have ever encountered. The most ridiculous thing is that there is a 13% service fee, which is really amazing.

Very nice food. Staff could be a little more friendly. We had a young man who was excellent in the end.

A last minute lunch with friends. Phoenix was recommended by one of the group. A modest street entrance opens into a large dining room that is decorated in a traditional style. The staff were all welcoming, warm, friendly and accommodating. Could not be faulted. We ordered a mix of dim sum and main dishes that we shared. Everything was great although the Peking Duck was a bit dry. From reviews and friend recommendations I believe this was just a one-off and I will definitely return and try the Peking Duck again. Pricing was ok as we ordered far too much, had a beer each and it was around £55 each including service. Definitely worth a visit.

Love going back to the amazing restaurant. Our kids do too and they’re the biggest food critics.

Great food and fun staff. Would recommend for a nicer, formal Chinese meal setting.

very good food, the noodles particularly were excellent. Very proud of its clientele over the years -- evidenced by many photographs of the famous diners over the year - which in many ways is its own review. Very solid food, excellent location. Slightly blasé service, but nothing to complain about.

No idea why this place has such a high rating. Maybe it was a good place to eat before? Decided to try this place based on the rating and was taken back by the lackluster service and at best mediocre food. The servers did not look like they wanted to be there and one in particular was scowling the entire time to another table. Finally, I was taken aback by the bill. The food is nowhere near the price it is listed for. Plus, a glass of tap water was charged for 2 dollars per person unbeknownst to us.

I have been coming here for nearly 20 years and the food and service have always been excellent. It’s a tradition to come here and so my kids have grown up on their food. They too think it’s the best Chinese in London!!! Thanks

Great Dim Sum lunch with friends. Food was excellent. Liked the grumpy waiter act from our server, but I don't think it was an act... it made me smile though. Aled Jones was sitting at the next table. 😳 he didn't sing..

Food was decent, but the service is poor. Charge 13% of service fee while totally not worth it. Extra charge on packaging for takeaway (£1 per box).

The food was fantastic, but the service was awful but the service was lacking. The waitress seemed handling too many tables, so we had to ask several times for water, chopsticks. Despite the great food, the inattentive service made the experience less enjoyable.

Bon bubble tea.
