I was very clear while booking that I want 100% veg food spoke to the chef too and he said please when you order the dishes clearly state it but the the woman who served us was not pleasant at all every time we called her she was getting bugged every time I told her no chicken stock or oyster sauce she was rude and said don't keep repeating it I have never come across such a rude waitress. We for religious reasons don't eat that and if I make sure as the chef told me I shouldn't be spoken rudely to.She kept complaining they give me so much work to do and I can't cope but can't take out her frustration on us.Sorry not happy and will not be visiting again. Please sort your staff out as we come there to enjoy and had brought some guests really embrasing as we did not enjoy our meal too. This is the worst experience I have had sort your staff out. Please don't go if you are going to enjoy as staff treat you badly.

We've been in London for a few days and fancied an oriental meal so booked a table. We arrived perfectly on time and we're greeted at the door and sat immediately. The restaurant was half empty and we soon realised why, the servers were abrupt, and ill mannered to start. When we ordered our food and drinks the server didn't know the menu and told us they did not infact sell venison. I showed him that they infact did venison and lemongrass was under the GAME section of the menu none surprisingly and was not the only venison dish they sold. When they brought the drinks the server placed the drinks and walked away without saying anything he had placed my tiger beer and had infact given my partner a fruit punch rather than the frozen fruit daiquiri she had ordered. I asked her whether she would like me to raise the issue as she has anxiety and she said 'no thankyou' so we waited on our food. The atmosphere was icy and the restaurant was still half empty when my brisket and soft noodles arrived with a plat of belly pork and bao buns... not what she ordered. We raised that issue and the food was replaced shaeinf my brisket as we waited. I should point out I am a butcher and whoever sold them that brisket should be shot. Flavourless and fatty and under cooked the melt in your mouth brisket it should have been was a chew until your jaw hurts brisket. The noodles were overly salty and luke warm. Finally my partners dish arrived and it was salty and far too perfumed with ill prepared lemon grass. In conclusion when in the area I can recommend the little bagel shop in the tube station around the corner instead of this pretentious, overpriced, and terrible jumped up takeaway.

I came to London to reunite with my family during the Spring Festival and came to Phoenix Pavilion. The Poon Choi here can be described as amazing! Although it is expensive, it is real material. The kids in the family ate a big plate of cured rice by themselves! In particular, this dessert contains fish every year, which not only means good luck, but also tastes good. It can be regarded as Michelin level. Like it, I will come again in the future

One of the Soho Houses near Baker Street serving excellent Chinese cuisine. Weekends are packed with people so do pre-book. Toilets were clean and service pretty good despite the busy lunch hour. The dishes can be quite spicy with generous addition of dry red cillies. So if you cannot tolerate that, ask them to recommend mild dishes. On our last visit coffee machine was broken but, they had the full list of coffee on this occasion.

Used to be a great place for dimsum, traditional dimsum tea house decoration. Perhaps it's lunar new year and they're busy, the food turned out to be cold and the service was appalling. Especially one of the servers, bald and stout in a polo shirt, was rude from the beginning - loudly swearing profanity into his phone about a guest not giving him "red packets (tips)", and commenting that our order value is low. With all the other options in London, we won't be returning.

A place for EQ test! The location is nice. But the foods are cold, staffs are rude, one of the staffs walks around and complains no one give him red pocket (Lunar new year). Our time was too precious to stay long there, so we billed as soon as we finished the food. Usually, Chinese restaurants offer discount for cash; when we asked the staff, he said ‘only £70, it’s not a big different with or without discount’ .

I really felt the quality of the food is below the others I’ve have been to. The food wasn’t cooked particularly well, such as the spring rolls were not well coloured and soaked with oil, turnip cake lacked texture, most for he dished came out lukewarm, the dumplings texture was quite rubbery. I really got the feeling of Chinese take away quality rather than restaurant.

Chicken gyoza was amazing. Beef noodles was mediocre and had a lot of burnt taste. Our sweet and sour chicken was tasting absolutely RANCID. We told the waiter who got very defensive and said that it is impossible and he cancelled the meal immediately snatching it away from our table. When i asked if we can have another one, he said that it will only be the same so he will not be bringing another one. He did not offer to chose another chicken dish from the menu either. Good thing we did not have to pay for this item but the waiter’s arrogance was totally off putting, so wont be returning to this place.

I ordered 500ml Chinese rice wine priced £40 and saw something floating in a cup when I poured the wine from the decanter. It looked like a small broken piece of cork. The waiter asked me to pour it in another cup, saying he would talk to his manager if the issue was still there. I think they should have offered a replacement. I didn’t argue as I didn’t want to make a fuss when dining with someone special. The wine was very nice, probably one of the best I had in the UK and China as well, though! I also had to ask to correct the bill because the beer was charged twice. The foods were not bad but nothing special.

After getting off the train, I searched for the closest Chinese restaurant to this restaurant and came over. The young lady at the reception was very nice, but everything changed after I came in. Most of the waiters were Hong Kong people. After sitting down at the table on the steps, , two waiters serve this area, the female waiter is slightly better, the male waiter simply has discrimination written on his face, will not look at you, asks you to pour two glasses of water, and leaves after finishing the meal. But serving food to the locals or Hong Kong people at the table next to you is extremely hot. If you want to feel this kind of discrimination, you can come and feel it. The dishes are a bit Western-style, the spicy ones are all sour... the fried rice is stir-fried with salad dressing... it's very frustrating. In addition, the waiter's attitude can be said to have affected the entire meal experience. It is the most discriminatory service I have ever encountered. The most ridiculous thing is that there is a 13% service fee, which is really amazing.

A last minute lunch with friends. Phoenix was recommended by one of the group. A modest street entrance opens into a large dining room that is decorated in a traditional style. The staff were all welcoming, warm, friendly and accommodating. Could not be faulted. We ordered a mix of dim sum and main dishes that we shared. Everything was great although the Peking Duck was a bit dry. From reviews and friend recommendations I believe this was just a one-off and I will definitely return and try the Peking Duck again. Pricing was ok as we ordered far too much, had a beer each and it was around £55 each including service. Definitely worth a visit.

We reserved Phoenix palace for a surprise baby shower for a friend for 1PM for a party of 10. She is heavily pregnant and it took us about 20 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Thank goodness there were chairs for her. The decor is gorgeous, with dragons and balloons 10/10 for ambience. Service was very slow and unorganized. We waited for about 40 minutes before the first plates were given. I had to flag down the waiter for drinks. Multiple orders were forgotten. Food was I would say 6.5/10 not the best but pretty good. I’ve had better. I come from some really authentic Chinese restaurants back home in the US so it felt very westernized with food which I guess was to be expected. Rice portion sizes were tiny I was shocked by how small they were! Dirty plates were not cleared for hours and were just left in front of us. If you are hungry, you really have to order a lot to be full and ahead of time because service is so slow. Not impressed with the service, considering this was my friends baby shower. I understand there was a birthday party right next to us but cmon. Should’ve been more organized/more staff. No customer should have dirty dishes in front of them for more than an hour.

I hadn't been for a while, but when I came for a meal with a (child) relative, I just went through the usual procedure, not really checking the prices. Dumb thing to do, I guess, but hey ho, there you go. After all, the food was fine, the service good, and all the usual. When I got the bill at the end, I couldn't believe it. £75 for not much at all. First time here by chance as visiting Camden. Reviews encouraged us to try it. However this chinese is highly priced, close to double what one would pay outside London. Service was impeccable which is just as well or I'd have complained quite loudly. Mixed starters are nothing shirt of embarrassing (criminal a better term for it) for the price over £12 a head for a tiny spring roll each, a small rib each, one tiny square of prawn toast each and two tablespoons of crispy seaweed. Wouldnt give you £5 in total for what turned up on the plate. 🙄😕 Be careful selecting dishes here. Rice was great and the noodles but the fish had ten tons of salt on it. Virtually inedible. Other mains ok if small in size. Will need to eat again on way home which is an indictment of itself. So where does that leave us? Nice decor, nice atmosphere, exceptional service but let down by outrageously overpriced fare. Will be back in London again but sadly wont be back here. Clearly other reviewers see something here that escapes me. Maybe its Marleybone and this is the best given the locale, but I've had miles better meals value wise in recent months for 40% - 50% less even in Paris and Brussels. Disappointing.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service provided by Phoenix Palace restaurant during my visit today. I made a reservation for 17 people to celebrate my uncle's 70th birthday on the 22nd April, but the experience was far from enjoyable. Firstly, the staff were incredibly slow and seemed disinterested in providing good service. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for our food to arrive, and when it did, the quality was poor. To make matters worse, the manager and staff were rude and abrupt towards us throughout the evening. Furthermore, we were informed upon arrival that there was a minimum spend of £800, which we were not informed of at the time of booking. This was an unexpected and unwelcome surprise, and it left a sour taste in our mouths. When I raised my concerns with the manager, he dismissed me rudely and even walked away mid-conversation. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Phoenix Palace restaurant. The poor service, rude staff, and unexpected charges have left a negative impression on me and my family. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would advise others to steer clear. I always pay service charge when I visit restaurants however, on this occasion, I asked for the service charge to be removed and they did so begrudgingly. If I could give 0 stars I would!

Went with a group of colleagues and sampled a set menu for around £40pp. Not the cheapest but in zone one in London it’s probably fair. The starter arrived which was a seafood soup and wasn’t the best. The taste was intensely fishy an unpalatable to the point the entire group sent it back. The waiter said it was our taste than the dish and wouldn’t exchange it for anything else. Seemed a bit odd as each member of the group felt the same and it’s a dish we often order ourselves. The rest of the dishes were ok. Would I go back? Probably not, the staff were rude and hurried the table at every opportunity taking plates while we were still eating, even though it was mostly empty for a mid week service. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but worth the authenticity. There is an overwhelming amount of red in the restaurant, :), but they mostly pull it off re ambience. The food at Phoenix is good, most dishes are authentically prepared. We had dim...

The restaurant is really lovely, and it is possible to book a table, which a lot of dim sum restaurants won't let you do. Saturday lunchtime was busy, with families and friends and even a birthday celebration You get a dim sum menu to tick...

It's not often you go to a Chinese restaurant that has some very fine wines on offer! Chateau Petrus available if you're inclined. Food was excellent and the service was great. Cheung in particular did a great job of looking after us. I'll be back...

First visit post Covid and Phoenix Palace didn’t disappoint on a busy pre Christmas Tuesday night. Decor, atmosphere, service and amazingly broad and perfectly cooked menu didn’t disappoint.

Really an authentic Cantonese restaurant in London!!! Feel like I stay in HK LOL. All dishes are delicious! The crispy duck is crispy and flavourful recommend! The Chinese broccoli is stirred well. It is good for dining with family and reunions! Highly recommended!

Great bug place to grab dim sum. Walked in with no reservation on a Sun at 2pm and was able to snag a table for 2 after a very short wait. It was constantly busy though. It's not the best dim sum in London - Xiao long bao, har gao & cheung fun were a little over cooked - but it'll do if you're craving dim sum in the central area, & don't want to head to KX or Chinatown.

This restaurant has really gone downhill over the years. 20 years ago it was the go to place for great Chinese food , Everything we ordered a few Sundays ago was tasteless: the Peking duck, hot and sour soup, chicken in black bean sauce. The manager did say the head chef is over 60 and getting tired from this work, which is clearly obvious.
