Meal not necessarily bad but we were brought back 4 dishes that we didn't order, more than 13 GBP in cutlery costs and an interminably unbearable wait to receive all our dishes. The waitress who doesn't have a single second to waste made me develop post-traumatic stress because we wanted to check the bill but she didn't have time.

I’ve never been made to feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome in a restaurant before. I’ve dined here several times with no issue, but this time I was served by a short waiter who was one of the few members of staff that wasn’t chinese. He was rude, unprofessional and at times appeared to mock customers to their faces. He’d clear plates from our table, say thank you in a strange voice then start laughing with another waiter before even turning his back. At one point I politely asked for another drink when some food arrived and he just put both his thumbs in my face, smiled like the joker and walked away. I was shocked, let alone the absurd prices for small portions and average food I couldn’t believe this guys attitude. I feel the direct nature of Chinese service is often misinterpreted by brits, but this is not the case here. Won’t be going back again.

Ordered sweet & sour chicken. Expecting light crispy chicken pieces but they were dense, chewy and tasted refried and burnt. Chilli salt squid was also very oily and not light and crispy. The roast duck with rice, the duck still had some feathers. Value vs quality of food was too expensive. Have had better Chinese food for that price.

Nice interior. Food was very average for the price. The service unfortunately although polite was very poor. My partner received only a bowl of rice for her main. When we informed them they had forgotten her main dish they apologised and said they would sort it right away. Another 20 minutes passed and we asked again where it was. They looked panicked like they had forgotten again then came out with a different meal to what she had ordered and said it was on the house. They just didn't seem capable of coping with how busy it was. We left very disappointed.

Used to be the go to Cantonese restaurant, we hosted many parties for friends from Hong Kong. Now unfortunately best avoided. Run down, dirty with patronising plastic laminated instructions littering grubby walls. Signature cantonese style dish now a pale shadow, meagre and dry meat on a big bed of rice with a gloopy sauce. Tried twice in last six months, thought it was just a bad day but seems this is the norm…

I purchased a £200 gift certificate for a friend. When they went to redeem it, one of the dishes was inedible and not consumed. When brought to the attention of the manager they offered a free dessert on a future visit. They left the charge for the non edible entree on the bill. This would be expected at McDonald’s. But not so much at a pricey establishment like this.

I ordered the chicken with cashew nuts and egg-fried rice and the food was brought out between 1 and 2 minutes later, so clearly had been made earlier and quickly heated up. The chicken had a strange test and almost seemed under-cooked. They did give me a replacement, which tasted a bit better and was at least cooked, but all in all this was a disappointing experience and I won’t be going there again.

I had been dine in in this restaurant for years but really disappointed me when I had Dim Sum yesterday. One bite into a prawn dumpling I had to spit it out because of its strange smell, it was likes musty smell and disgusting, which make I think straight away that this food had been left in the freezer for long time. I called a lady staff and tell her the problem, she said sorry then try to replace with a new one but I asked to cancel that dish. Floor Manager is standing from reception desk but not coming to explain anything so I asked to see him. He just say sorry, I asked him" it isn't fresh makes is it?" He says "it is fresh make ". I didn't believe him. If it's fresh makes, I'm sure that you don't get that nasty musty smell. I paid full price and left with worrying about foods they served

Very pricey for what we had - tofu stuffed with shrimp lacked flavour but presentation good and generous serving , £17 ish. We booked this restaurant for a family gathering of 12+ people as we were told that it was spacious - it did not disappoint. However, it was quite empty for a Saturday night, we were one of two tables in this big room all throughout the night and as we were in a room, we were somewhat neglected. We had to keep walking out of the room to get attention. The food was so so and portion sizes were ridiculous for what it's worth. We ordered a whole peking duck to share between us but it most certainly did not look like a whole duck (I'll post pictures once I get them). Sadly, we went back to our Airbnb hungry, so we would not recommend this restaurant.

Had pork dumplings, spring roll, ribs, seaweed, plain rice, Chinese tea, ginger ale, Elderflower presse. Including 20% summer discount, total was £47.20. Food was so so. This is probably one of, if not the worst Chinese restaurants I've tried in my life. The duck pancake portion was tiny - it looked like someone had already eaten off of the plate with how little we were given. The duck was unusually dry too. The crab and sweetcorn soup was okay but needed extra seasoning. The mains were truly horrible. If I could rate 0 stars I would. The Fu Jian style rice was so salty with a strange herbal undertone to it. The meat (I believe was pork) had a overpoweringly strong floral taste to it too which made the whole dish inedible - I gave up after two bites. The crispy black bean noodles were extremely greasy and the overall flavour was salt. The fried squid batter tasted like burned flour. I left this restaurant having eaten the equivalent of one bowl of food (the soup) - if this doesn't speak to how bad this food was I don't know what to tell you. The only redeeming factor was the service - we had two waiters who were friendly. For such a terrible meal it cost nearly £150, so they also charge extortionate amounts for bad food. Avoid at all costs - there are so many amazing restaurants in the area and this is NOT one of them.

This used to be a good restaurant I’m not sure if they have changed the chef. We are Chinese and this was terrible we ate one bowl each and took the rest home cause it was just not good food. We spent £140 and could have gotten a better meal from a local small town takeaway. Duck pancake - the duck portion was tiny and dry Chicken/crab sweetcorn soup - bland and needed salt and seasoning Crispy noodles black bean sauce - not enough sauce and noodles were all clumped together Shrimp Stuffed aubergine, pepper and tofu - there was not enough shrimp in the stuffing mix, it was very mushy like it was mostly corn flour. The stuffing did not have that bouncy shrimp texture Choi sum - over cooked no flavour. Needed oyster sauce & garlic Salt & pepper squid - batter was too thick and had no flavour Fujin rice - bland with a strange herbal taste The only upside to this experience was the service from the non Chinese staff. The south Asian waiters was very friendly and helpful. The Chinese staff were rushed and did not provide a nice experience I am always happy to pay for a good meal and tip generously but this was a bad experience and we will not be coming back

We were seeking a good Chinese restaurant which served authentic Chinese food, of good quality. My wife spent a lot of time in Hong Kong as a youngster - and she was keen to relive the cuisine she remembered… The dim sum were the best feature of the meal, and tasted delicious. The crispy Peking duck was nice, but a little disappointing as it was served cold. Price wise it was very good value for money, the service was a bit haphazard as the dishes arrived randomly. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, and our other family members enjoyed it too - we would certainly return, and probably will the next time we visit Chinatown.

We became aware of Imperial China after seeing it mentioned quite a lot in the comments on a You Tube video where two guys who were trying different places out in China Town. We were down in London on holiday and me and my girlfriend decided to try it out. From the second we went in we really liked the place. We loved the Koi Carp in the pond as we walked in, and it was a nice quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We were approached by a member of staff who took us to our table. We found that the Imperial China did not feel cramped like some places do and there was plenty of room to get in and out from your table. We ordered prawn crackers and sesame prawn toast for appetisers. The prawn crackers were the best we have ever tasted. The sesame prawn toast again was the best I've tasted, it had plenty of prawns on it which were lovely and plump and juicy, and the sesame top was lovely and crispy and perfectly cooked. For our main I got curried chicken with steamed rice and my girlfriend got pork chops with honey and lemon and steamed rice. The curry was absolutely delicious. Abundant amounts of chicken, green and red peppers, the rice was perfectly cooked and was not soggy or sticky, and the curry had plenty of heat with it and was lovely and creamy in taste, and I would go as far as saying the nicest I've had anywhere. My girlfriend informed me that her main was absolutely delicious. The pork was lovely and moist and tender and was perfectly cooked, and the honey and lemon sauce tasted beautiful. The steamed rice was perfectly cooked and was not soggy or sticky. The staff were the friendliest we have experienced from the various places we have been to in China Town. We didn't wait long for our food to arrive and found the service excellent. Also the place was really clean and it was nice to see linen table cloths rather than the paper ones you see quite a lot. I have no complaints at all and needless to say that when we are next down in London, we will be heading straight to Imperial China when we go to China Town.

My hot and sour soup was bland; neither chilli hot nor vinegar sour. I asked for chilli oil, a small saucer of which was brought. My brother asked for soy sauce (nothing is already on the table). When the main courses came I asked for more chilli oil, to be told 'the first one was on the house; from now on you pay £1 a serving'. For that reason we will never return. The rice portions are small. The red chilli Szechuan prawns are bulked out with chunks of peppers and celery in a bland, sweet sauce. We got maybe eight prawns for the £18.80 the dish cost. The Sauteed pork with cashew nuts was small cubes, again bulked out by veg and in a nondescript sauce. Lots of staff hovered about watching, but had to be asked twice for the soy sauce. They did keep refilling the green tea pot we all shared. Quiet because off the beaten track (and because it's expensive), air conditioned which was great. Toilets were clean. They did not ask us how the meal was - they didn't care. Go somewhere else where they can actually cook, because this food is boring and overpriced.

The entrance is small and unassuming, but only leads to a narrow corridor from which you can access toilets, and then the second entrance into the actual restaurant. Once there you find a bustling restaurant with tables across two floors. The upper floor overlooks the ground floor. The place is hectic, the service staff rush around and explain in broken half English half Chinese what things are. Luckily there is a menu with pictures. We got a wide selection of dim sum. It feels like everything is fried in stale oil (even the cutlery) and everything we ordered tasted of the same bland and acrid flavour. Seriously some of the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. The staff are typically brisk and disinterested and the room poorly lit with the ambience of a unevenly lit bus station. I recommend going any where else. Awful!

We went for a family dinner out with kids. Waiter/waitress were all very attentive and friendly. Food quality superb. Very satisfied. A little pricey though with 12.5% service charge, which was fine with us, but better to know ahead of time for those who keep a tight budget. Would recommend to anyone who is happy with the above service charge.

Nice place to eat but food disappointing - was expecting more flavour. It was nice enough but the hot soup lacked spice and the chicken spring rolls were gristly. The noodles and chilli beef were ok.

Plastic tasting food, came out very quick, we asked if the food was made on the day manager said yes but the quality said otherwise. Food had a pale off colour and looked very old. Crispy shredded beef tasted like soggy pork scratchings.

Where do i start, what a disappointing experience. The food and service was well below what you would expect. Egg fried rice old and dry, mock chicken in black bean sauce tasteless, my 8 yr old could have done better. Sweet and sour chicken was dry, no sauce and the chicken tasted as if it had been fried multiple times. I would definitely avoid this place and suggest others do aswell.

One of the worst Chinese meals I’ve ever had. Two of the dishes arrive cold, and anything that was battered, just taste the same, because the batter was too thick and overcooked.

Ordered a variety of dimsum for Boxing Day expecting fantastic food as advertised. However, most of the food tasted of MSG. We only like the taro croquettes out the 10 dishes we ordered.

Came here late December to have an indulgent Dim Sum lunch. Food and service were both excellent. The sim sim is the best dim sum I have eaten in London, always very hot, tasty and served quickly but not so quickly that you know it wasn’t made to order. The roast duck is especially good as is the pork belly. Fantastic value and service and a firm favourite

Ate at this place and spent close to a £100, which for a family who rarely dines out is a lot. The service was disgraceful!!!!!! Was actually shocked with the lack of poor basic manners to the point I absolutely couldn't pay the £10 service fee they asked on top of the £100! Absolutely not, there was no service!!!! Weren’t acknowledged, rude, blunt, not friendly at all, had to be asked to be served. Food poor, waiter walked right in front of me, chef rude as passed. The worst restaurant I have been to and i plea you not to waste your money like we felt we had!!!!! Go somewhere, where your presence is appreciated or at least basic manners are used.

Imperial China in central London offers an authentically Chinese dining experience. Our reservation for one of the private rooms on the second floor ensured a unique setting, complete with a large TV and Karaoke setup, although we opted for a formal discussion instead. The food, rich in authentic flavors, delighted our taste buds, and the presence of our Chinese friends enhanced the overall ambiance. Amidst a bustling crowd, the place buzzed with energy, with a sizable queue outside. However, our advance booking ensured a swift entry upon arrival, bypassing the waiting crowd. Despite the bustling atmosphere, once inside, the restaurant provided a tranquil setting for our memorable dining experience. A highlight was indulging in Maotai, a special Chinese liquor, adding to the delight of our visit. The courteous staff further complemented the evening, making it a delightful experience within the heart of London.

Surprised to read some recent poor reviews on here because that in no way reflects our experience. We booked a private room for 12 with set menu for a pre-theatre meal on a works outing. The booking/reservation process was a little clunky but when we got there after only a short wait we were taken up to our room, The room was clean and pleasant and our server was congenial, polite and efficient. Drinks arrived quickly and when the food started coming soon after it was delicious and was universally enjoyed by, the crispy duck, dim sum, fried beef with black pepper and sea bass were particular favourites. Certainly not the cheapest meal you’ll find, but not expensive either and we felt it was good value considering the location and quality of the food and service. The room also had karaoke, the performances were terrible but I don’t think we can blame the venue for that ! Already planning another visit.

We were recommended by a friend to go there but would not bother again. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait to be seated as they were also tending to the large queue of walk ins! Food was not that great and seemed as if reheated! Portions are quite big and prices are good but i would nor visit again

Very busy on a saturday lunchtime. Resturant is split across 2 levels. Extra seating upstairs. Nice atmosphëre and very nice staff. For a northerner the prices were rather high. Good wine list but also pricey. Food was very good. Considering how busy it was there was no real wait. Washrooms were a bit grim in my opinion. No fortune cookies after bill payment so that was a bit disappointing. Nice enough experience but theres hundreds more resturants to choose from.

One of the worst Chinese restaurants I've been to, an absolute tourist trap. Order half a Peking duck £28, no way it's half, bulked up with prawn crackers, it was moist and tasty though. I ordered wine that never came along with no hoi sin sauce. Wanton soup was pink meat inside and my daughter has been sick 12 hours after eating her wonton soup. Service charge on the bill that's not discretionary made for an expensive meal in my opinion £109 for not much food and loaded with MSG. Service was stern and no friendly by the older ladies running this tired restaurant. Won't go back, should of gone back the Plumb Valley.

We are from the Bay Area in California and used to great Chinese cooking. This was like being at home again. Generous portions, great seasoning and prompt service made for a great start to a fun evening in SoHo. We especially liked the fresh sautéed pea greens which they call ‘Morning Glory’. That, a shared basket of steamed dim sum and half a roast duck (boneless) with a bowl of rice made an excellent meal for two.

The reviews here are hilarious, but accurate. That makes me sad :/ Normally we go here late and the guy sees us, knows our order, and there is no problem. This time, we waited 20 mins in a queue to get in the place late Fri night. We finally get in and have to share a table with randoms. Then no one takes our order! One lady is running around like crazy, one table had a guy sleeping on it holding up customers, one table has two girls on it taking pics of every little thing and no other food is being served at other tables. No food is to be seen. WTH!? No one served us and guess what? The randoms on our table left. So did we. Complete waste of time at 3am. Why bother asking people to queue if you're not going to serve them? Ened up getting breakfast on the way home as we decided you didn't deserve our money. Hilarious service. I can't wait to see what the restaurant is going to reply to this review, as they seem extremely defensive and hurt over every one star review instead of looking internally to see how they can fix these issues. Crazy and unfortunate. All these customers can't be wrong although the restaurant replies seem to want to blame the customers. Finger pointing galore. Sorry. Go elsewhere or pick up a McDonald's on your way - waaaaay better.

Excellent food. We had a large party of 18 people for dinner. Service was good and the food excellent. Be aware, parking is always an issue in this locale in London. Some good NCP car parks nearby but always book a parking space prior to travelling.
