Just like any dim sum place in Asia, good and authentic atmosphere. Nice staff. The XIAO LUNG BAO is not good, not worth trying. The roasted duck ordered by my neighboring tables look really nice, if it’s reli good, I give another five star review

Waiters are nice but food is garbage, arrives instantly so that’s the first sign of trouble. Wings are very fatty and would be awful without the garlic. Sweet and sour chicken looks like and tastes like it’s made from Miranda orange and is inedible. Dumplings are tasteless and the noodle dish made me sick. Add all that into the price you pay for these dishes and it’s an utter disaster. Feel sorry for the waiters because they are the one redeeming factor about this place.

The food was amazing. Very tasty. It's a very large restaurant. But the service is so and so... Aafter we finished our main course, the waiter gave us the bill, without offering desert. We felt like we were kicked out... The bill was detailed only with the names of the dishes, but without the price of each one, only the total.

Gold Mine on Queensway is an absolute gem for Chinese cuisine lovers! Its location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk from Bayswater Station. We had a booking for a Friday night but arrived slightly late due to traffic. The staff were understanding, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. From the outside, the restaurant may not seem that large, but it actually spans multiple levels. While the ground floor has a bustling atmosphere with closely arranged tables, there are also separate rooms for those looking for a more intimate setting. We were seated towards the inside of the restaurant, which offered a bit more privacy and made for a comfortable dining experience. The atmosphere at Gold Mine is relaxed and casual—nothing overly fancy in terms of decor, but warm and inviting. The focus here is undoubtedly on the food. The menu is extensive, offering a huge variety of dishes, including different meats, vegetarian options, and a special dumpling selection. The food quality was great, and every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. We started with the spinach dumplings, pork dumplings, and turnip cakes from the special menu. The grilled turnip cakes were a standout—crispy on the outside, soft inside, and had an interesting taste. A must-try! The roasted duck was simply exceptional—perfectly crispy skin with juicy, tender meat. We initially ordered a quarter portion to sample it, but the team generously upgraded us to a half, which was a lovely surprise. The braised tofu stew was another highlight, rich and full of flavour, and the vermicelli were also pretty good. We paired our meal with delicate, light tea, which complemented the flavours beautifully. Service was very good - attentive and impressively fast. We had a lovely time and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Disappointed. The prices were outrageously high for what you get. The food was not only greasy but also lacked flavor. I think overall service was great tbh (friendly & quick) but the only sour note was upon payment when the waiter clicked tip without asking. Would have been better to wait for customer to bring it up before deciding on his own (waiter look to be in his 30s).

As with many places, Gold Mine has really gone downhill in the last few years in terms of value for money. Firstly, my biggest bugbear is that whilst they’ve always had a 12% service charge which is not itemised on the receipt, they now are very pushy about getting a tip on top of the service charge. Clearly they count on many customers not realising that they’ve already been charged. To add to that the food portions are smaller and the cost of dishes has gone up considerably. There’s no excuse even with inflation to charge circa £18 for simple veg side dishes of beans, broccoli or choy sum. . The quality of the food doesn’t seem quite as good as it used to be. Last two times I’ve visited I’ve left feeling ripped off and so I won’t be visiting again

The last time I came, the food tasted pretty good, but this time, every dish was served in just three minutes, and they were all a bit cold. The roasted duck was also very greasy. When I brought it up to the waiter, they refused to admit that the food was pre-made and claimed it was their “secret recipe.” The staff and service were very unpleasant. WARNING WARNING - PLEASE READ !!!!! I would strongly reccomend all customers to check your bill carefully at the end of your meal at this restaurant. Always ask for the ITEMISED BILL as opposed to the other receipt (IN CHINESE, OWN LANGUAGE) they like to give showing the total only. They tried to double charge us for the two must expensive dishes on our order twice! When I pointed this out to the staff it reduced out bill by £40.00. This place caters for alot of tourists and you never know what they are charging for if you dont ask for a itemised bill in ENGLISH they can really charge anything if you dont ask for an English bill. NOTE: This restaurant also charge 50p per takeaway box. Even after you spend £149.00 there. Dont make sence. Going back to my favourite restaurant now Bang Bang Colindale. Its ashame our whole experience with goldmine was ruined because of this experience. They lost a customer that spent an average of 390 within two visits. Feel free to message me or contact me back about this Goldmine. ABSOLUTLY DISAPOINTING AND DISGRACEFUL. VERY NOISY RESTAURANT. Update 27 Jan 25; Still no reply from owners to my review with an explination lol. Also note now many reactions my review has had. !!! This speaks for itself. Dont get me wrong as i am not in the business of damaging business rep, the food was nice ( hence food rating) its just that bill that we got where they tried to rip me and my family off that upset me 😡. They are also overpriced. GO TO BANG BANG COLINDALE 😋!!!!!

Sorry Goldmine for what you charge I expected the same service for my takeaway as if I was in your restaurant. I will not be getting a takeaway away from yourselves. Sadly I had to dispose of most of the meal as it was too oily and greasy to eat and the rice once heated up had no flavour. £36.00 wasted.....😔

This restaurant is pretty big, We were sat in the upstairs area which was sectioned off from the main restaurant, it was intimate; there was another family sat in the corner of the room but they soon left, so it felt like we had a private section. I recently visited this restaurant, and while some aspects were good, my overall experience was disappointing. The portion sizes were moderate, and our waiter was excellent—very patient and professional throughout. Their service was a highlight of the visit. However, the manager’s behavior was unacceptable. When I chose not to pay the service fee (which is clearly stated as discretionary on the menu), the manager rudely suggested that I should opt for takeaway if I didn’t want to pay it. UK law regulates that service charges are optional, so pressuring customers to pay or questioning their decision not to undermines this principle. If the fee is truly discretionary, there should be no need for such insistence or rude remarks. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and trains their staff to respect customers’ lawful choices without unnecessary confrontation. If not, it will be totally a SCAM

Last night I had dinner with my friends visiting from abroad and whom I haven't seen in 10 years. Still, we were pretty chill and didn't expect too much from this restaurant, just needed a place fulfilling multiple dietary requirements. But they failed miserably, and it was difficult to mask my utter disgust and fury when I was served chicken in my soup instead of tofu. They were tiny pieces mostly, we were very much engaged in conversations (after 10 years not seeing each other), so I only realised that I was served meet when I was halfway done. I have never been served meat by accident in London anywhere before! I've been vegan for many years, and I have 10+ years hospitality management experience from all over London - yet, I didn't want to make a scene but I expressed my utter disgust and disappointment to the waiter. We received no compensation whatsoever (that's the least I would have done! ) and I knew they were hoping not to make a big deal out of this. Well, I didn't, but I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who is vegan, vegetarian or have any allergies as based on this, they would have easily served nuts to someone with nut allergy. The food itself is mediocre at best and my friends were not impressed at all by this place. We will never come back here, and I advise you to look elsewhere too - especially if you are vegetarian/vegan.

If you go to this place i'd highly recommend the black bean tofu. You see, it has to be done in a certain way so the flavors come out just right. i have mine with white rice.
