Phoenix House in Redbridge

Excellent service, the food however was only just average. I order various dishes. However the BBQ ribs, special fried rice and vegetable fried rice was of a poorer quality than I am use to. Probably will stick to my usual Chinese takeaway restaurant !

I ordered chicken balls and In the portion there were 3 prawn balls! I haven't been able to contact the restaurant as I am so unwell. I am allergic to shell fish! Fuming.

Arrived earlier than stated, piping hot and tasty.

Food nice, sweet and sour sauce not done up AGAIN, meaning a huge mess to clean up and sticky containers and bags...

Delivery time good food ok containers less than half full not impressed shocked at portion to price ratio have been using this takeaway for a long time not any more afraid they seem to have no loyalty towards customers felt slightly ripped off

Food was great, unfortunately when the food got to me one of my pots of sweet and sour sauce hadn't been sealed properly so my food and the containers were covered in it, so was my kitchen, kinda defeated the reason I got a take away...

Tried the Phoenix House as our usual takeaway is closed on a Monday. All the dishes were of a good quality and the Shredded Crispy Chilli Beef in particular was excellent. Can see no reason not to order from them again in the future. Recommended.

Delivery time was faster than expected came before estimated deliver time, staff are very helpful and friendly, i ordered chicken balls but requested if half could be prawn to which the restaurant called me to confirm so proves they take notice of customers requests (some restaurants say no to which I don't return to) sweet and sour chicken hong kong style was lovely couldn't fault it, chips were to crispy i like soggy ones, chow mein was lovely as was the rest of the dishes i ordered. First time i have got from here and will definitely order again. Thankyou for a lovely meal

Always order from here and always the same stuff, so just clicked re-order... beware this restaurant is shifty, no free spring rolls because it doesn't count price of delivery (even though it's £2) it would be cheaper to get a bus and go pick it up. When I EVENTUALLY got my order after they increased the time by 35mins instead of my normal prawn balls they came hongkong style. I did ring the restaurant... I think I may have interrupted the meeting for the worlds most unhelpful people, refused to do anything or change the order even though I have ordered from them like 5 times this month, the woman on the phone couldn't preform any action without consulting her manager, I'm genuinely surprised she didn't ask how and whether she could breath, by the time she gave me every excuse in the book my food was cold... They have no loyalty to there customers, better off going somewhere else just to be safe.

The food is delicious from the Phoenix. We never order chinese from anywhere else!

The food was good overall but the chicken wings were a little too salty and Szechuan bean curd was not done in the traditional way. The delivery was superb - 10min ahead of the chosen time and the delivery person was really nice to send a pic of the receipt to me as I forgot to ask it from him.

Arrived on time. First time ordering and will do again. I usually judge by a Chinese takeaways crispy shredded beef with chilli and it was really good. Also had sweet and sour pork and special fried rice, which were good too.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. I ordered a Thai Green Curry which arrived as a murky brown colour resembling old dishwater with some peas and onions thrown in. When I called to ask if they could send a new curry or remove it from the bill, I was told by the first person that this is how the make this type of curry, to which I replied surely it's not meant to be brown and also have some coconut milk in it - she then tells me she doesn't actually know what a Thai Green Curry is and calls the owner to tell me what it should be. I then speak to the owner who again says this is how the curry is made and there is nothing they can do. She then tells me she has to go and hang up the phone. Terrible food and customer service, spend your money on somewhere that actually makes the right dishes and that have some taste.

Very quick but went to collect so cant comment on delivery. Good food as expected.

Veg chowmein did not have any veg in it and was cold, had to be reheated in microwave. Bean curd in satay sauce was more white onions in sauce with tofu as garnish. Soup and chicken dish was ok.

If you want a Thai green curry then don't order it from here. That's what I ordered. What I got was a Chinese style, msg gravy with loads of black pepper. I rang to say I was given the wrong dish and was asked to identify the vegetables in it. I asked for my correct meal to be sent. They then rang back and said that was their version of Thai green curry and there was no point in sending another. I've had many Thai green curries, good abs bad, this wasn't even on the scale. At a minimum coconut milk is usually included... shocking

First time ordering at Phoenix and highly recommended. Delivery time when ordering said an hour which I initially thought was fair enough but turned up within 25 mins 👌😊. The food was lovely and good portions in what we ordered. Will definitely use again.

food arrived in a timely manner, kung po was smaller, in comparison with other take aways we had tried before, chips tasted old oil. We do not like prawn crackers, for a spend of over £15 they offer you a bag for free, if you write it in the message to restaurant , We got them anyway, straight in the bin, what a waste!

Food was delicious as always, the delivery man was very rude though because he got confused with my address... When he arrived 45 minutes late he shouted at me at my front door and showed me a receipt and said I made him late.

Really good food, but they have just increased their minimum delivery to £15 and their delivery charge to £2 which is very disappointing as I live alone. I will definitely be trying out another outlet next time.

They forgot part of our food order and had to ring them up and get it redelivered which they did right away but this made us have to wait until all the food was delivered prior to eating.

Spent half as much as my last £30 order with Phoenix house and despite spending less it was even better than my first order. Love this place, very generous portions and is hands down the best Chinese takeaway I've ordered from in years. Delivery man was tipped again and it was well deserved, very polite and friendly.

Easily the Best Chinese Takeaway I've had in a LONG time. Food is Piping hot on arrival and you can tell it's been cooked with care and on the spot. I would recommend the: Crab Claws (Fresh with an added lemon) Chilli Shredded Beef (Real crisp crunch too them, not too sickly sweet sauce) The delivery took a little longer than expected but was well worth the wait. Delivery man was very polite and thankful when tipped, So don't be afraid to leave a little tip :).

The food was ok and tasted alright.

Crispy shredded beef bang tidy. Chow mein was a pleasure to my senses. Crab claws were top dollar. All in all, it has my stamp of approval.

Oh Dear, having had a pretty good takeaway from here a few weeks ago, I decided to order again...... Big Mistake. The 'Shredded Crispy Chilli Beef' was not 'hot' at all (It's supposed to be a chilli dish - are you kidding) and appeared to have been re-heated. It was the worst I have ever tasted. The chicken Chow Mein hardly had any chicken in it (I played 'hunt the chicken'). The spare ribs were at best OK. Bearing in mind that I was probably one of the first customers on a of the evening, and it was a Thursday (It was ordered at 5.40pm) also leads me to believe that I was getting last nights 'left overs' Very Very disapointed indeed and will get my takeaways from other chinese takeaways in the future.

Another brilliant service and tasty food from Phoenix house . Salt and chilly squid is an absolute delight but Szechuan Mixed Seafood portion size was bit small and not much seafood in it. However all dishes taste great. Spot on delivery for a Friday night Very pleased and will order again .

Great food always hot and on time

The food was good, warm. Good flavours. Came 20 minutes earlier than expected. The delivery man was incredibly rude. Didn't even attempt to ring the door bell, rang my phone once, when I got to the door he yelled at me about how he'd rang me many times and that this was meant to be a quick delivery and I'd taken too long to answer the door, then he called me brother and left. Normally great service, but this has completely put me off.

The food was cold when it arrived, paid roughly £16 for this and ended up throwing half of it away as it was cold!!!

Everything we ordered was lovely, especially the roast pork with ginger.

Ordered from here for the first time and food was fantastic. So much flavour, not greasy at all.

The food we received turned up cold and had clearly been reheated. The noodles and rice were over cooked and the sauces were bland.

Awful food. First and last time u is this place

Food took an hour to arrive which was within the estimated time and was good considering it was a Saturday night and I expect they were busy, unfortunately the food was cold on arrival and was spilling out of the containers into the bag. I will order from Phoenix house again and hopefully this was just an exception because they were busy.

The guy was originally 15 minutes late, then phoned me as he couldn't find my address, watched him come to my door to press buzzer and then he didn't and walked back to his car, I had to go walk outside and catch him going back in his car so after this my food was 20 minutes late and the driver apologised he thought my address was offices when it clearly has house numbers and a buzzer system and he ran off back to his car, my food was luke warm by the time I put it on a plate and started eating it had got cold, won't be ordering again

Lovely, tasty food. Only criticism is that last time as well as this time the food wasn't particularly hot.

The delivery man yelled at us for 10 minutes for being sent by our building concierge to the wrong floor although not our fault. In the end we had to close the door on him! The food was good however, but we won't be reordering due to this unpleasant experience!

Let's start with the positives. The meal came within half an hour of ordering, however it was placed midweek, so there couldn't have been quite a high demand of orders. Furthermore, given the terrible quality of the food, it doesn't surprise me that it came before the expected delivery time. The delivery man was extremely polite and considerate too, so well done on your choice of employees. Now down to the important part, the food. I must say I was beyond disappointed. Looking at the reviews I thought this would be a safe bet to order from, however perhaps this is only when it comes to your standard sweet and sour chicken order as that is literally the same suave everything came in, including the noodle (which would revolt even the most questionable palettes). Needless to say the noodles went straight into the bin. I had ordered the beef in black bean sauce and I was disappointed when I received chicken in black bean sauce. It was the best part of the meal though. All meals were saturated in oil and even stirring the gloopy sauces wouldn't consolidate the mixture together. It was all extremely disappointing and a great waste of food, not to mention money! I will never order from this establishment again and really do not recommend it at all (not even for the sweet and sour sauce, which is the foundations of all their meals, it still doesn't make it good !)
