At least 7 or 8 times I’ve gone up now and it’s not open In fact one day the door was open and the staff were all eating yet still turning customers away

A total inept approach to fast food tonight. Over half an hour to get served, no apologies. Again as mentioned in previous posts, and based on past visits, my serving gets utterly destroyed by lung collapsing amounts of salt and vinegar. I should have bought frozen fish and chips, driven 10 miles home and cooked it myself.

In 2 minds to go here after looking at the hit and miss reviews, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Chips were ok but the southern fried chicken was horrible, the southern fried coating just cracked off in lumps and very low grade chicken, I’m a real chicken connoisseur and this chicken was bad, managed a few bites. And as per a previous review they really do throw salt and vinegar on them ! I had to tell her to stop after about 5 seconds of dousing them. Absolute shambles behind the counter regarding orders, shouting between each other to find out where the food is and who ordered what. Disappointing.

I always Fridays because that's when I get to go to the Pheonix fish bar. the fish is always cooked fresh and is cooked to perfection. the chip portions are very big and for a good price, I love it and there's nothing better than this!!

Popped over for a jumbo sausage, a portion of chips, and a pot of curry sauce. All was lovely, hot, fresh and tasted great! I have lived within proximity of this chip shop for over 10years! Never let me down :)

Lovely food always hot and fresh - expect to queue but worth it, always busy as good. Variety of menu available.

Was in there late afternoon yesterday, bought a large chips, fish cake and a large battered sausage, cost me £7.25!!!

fish and chips are always good from here whenever you take the fancy go . I would eat them once a week definatly .

Was running late for a night shift so I stopped to get a bag of chips and a sausage in batter on my way in. People were queuing out the door, that told me the chips were fresh and it was good food, I was right! Chips perfectly cooked, not swimming in grease and sausage was just as good. Service was excellent and most of the customers seemed to be regular. 20 minutes later I had a full belly and very satisfied, I will definitely join the others and make it a regular stop when I'm passing and hungry, 10/10.

Nice chip shop with decent chips and good variety of additional items like burgers, chicken etc. Staff are very friendly, prices are decent and portions not too bad. Only reason it doesn't get a 5 star is you sometimes have to wait a while as its busy and understaffed at times, but its worth the wait

Abysmal. When you ask for salt & vinegar, and your serving gets rinsed, you end up wishing you ate from your cats dinner bowl as an alternative. Salt served with a few chips. Common ground on my purchase was condiments served by someone you would find in Ancient Greece.

Having used Phoenix since moving into the area recently. Always excellent quality and taste is exemplary. Friendly customer service and good prices too.

We've been using this Chippy since it opened, not on a regular basis, and we've always found the products excellent and ably staffed by Brenda and Chris who've been there for years.

Fish and chip is delicious!  We regularly visit this fish and chip shop now, this is exactly what we're expected. Owner is nice and friendly.

Chips generally taste old and cooked in old oil. Most items are microwaved. Given it a few chances but fails to impress.

Eaten here since change of management. Prices up portions down. Batter is either under cooked or its been hanging around meaning batter is like crackling and fish has shrivelled up. One of the worst chippies around and not as good as the ones in the high street.

Without doubt, the best Chippy in the area. Amazing Fishcakes. The two ladies, Brenda and Chris keep the place very friendly. Although under new management, the quality and prices are brilliant.
