Philly's Burger in Oxford

My partner and I recently decided we would order our burger from a different burger place each time we ordered takeout, to try and decide which one was best. (Taste and price) This place wins hands down! We live in a town outside of Oxford and I chips don't travel well from anywhere so this is based on burgers and shakes. I highly recommend their double cheese burger, to which I add mushrooms and nacho cheese from the list of add ons. You can also remove any of the standard salad item, because, as my dad always says-"you don't win friends with salad!" The milkshakes are also very nice and not overly expensive. Why are you still reading this and not ordering a burger???

I had a long wait for the food. During this time I watched as the cook salted the fries *twice*, but didn't have time to say anything about it. They turned out to be almost inedible, though, so I assume that isn't the standard procedure. The chicken burger was pretty small for the price, but tasty. Last note: they didn't include a paper napkin in the take away bag so I ended up arriving to my destination with sauce on my face.

Good food, burgers, fries and milkshakes were all tasty. Little overpriced for what it is. Lacking restroom facilities which can be an issue for some.

I travel for a good burger, and Philly's burger is worth the journey. You can taste the difference in quality. This place is far superior to most burger places and it is consistently satisfying on every visit.

I was surprised and delighted by the vegan burger. I normally order beef but tried the vegan on impulse and actually preferred it to beef? Not sure if maybe they get cooked on the same griddle so they get some meaty flavor but dang was it yummy!

Good quality "home cooked" food. Really good sized portions and decent prices. And most importantly, it's all halal.

Prices are absolutely wild £14 for there most basic burger meal.. and up to £18 for a burger meal..absolutely wild. better off going to likes of peri co for a smash burger. Please re-avaluate your prices

Have to say lovely friendly service, ordered 4 philly double burgers for family with cajun chips and burgers were tasty and chips were on point, I'd definitely recommend. Fresh and tasty. Plus their brownie dessert was lovely too.

Food and service here was excellent! It's rare that I would call anything perfect, but this restaurant was 10/10 no doubt about it.

We ordered two burgers. Both with missing toppings. One which should be rich with extras, valued at 17 pounds. What we received. Wet slimy buns with chicken fillet, few small bits of salad and some sauce. Not a sign of ordered tomatoes or gherkins. Just flat pathetic burger. It was late order, around 10PM but it doesn`t mean that late order can be threated this way.

Service was amazing, great customer service but the food didnt taste good, pretty overpriced and no comfortable seating when people are queuing up right behind you do you have to squeeze in

I love five guys and for me it tastes really similar and its a bit cheaper so a win win for me! The staff were lovely and helpful aswell, the burgers are honestly delicious

Simply delicious!!! I saw the reviews online and decided to try as take away and we loved it! Burgers are very tasty, crispy fries and the price is good too! We have already tried twice and there is nothing bad to say about their food. If you fancy a burger with fries in Oxford, that is the option I would recommend so far. Their meal deal comes also with a sweet option which can be chosen between chocolate brownie or cookie. Too cheesy burger with additional bacon is a great choice and double chicken too.

After almost half an hour they had ent even started on my simple shake and fries and the person working wasnt even trying to make the order

Over priced, they can't manage a long queue, cold inside as they haven't realised the draft that flows from the front door. Impossible to side in a cold breeze.

As an American, this place gets my stamp of approval. Genuine and really good smash burgers.

Order from a delivery platform. The burgers are indeed very tasty but too expensive for the size, they are quite small (ordered the “all in meal”). The meals also don’t have a drink included which makes it even more expensive. On top of that our order was missing chips.

These guys are a fraud, ordered meal for 3 only got one meal all trashed, waste of time and money.

We ordered through Deliveroo for 3 meal deals. Only received 1 meal out of three. Tried calling the restaurant many times, no answer from them at all. I am very disappointed!

We went there for my son's birthday. Food was great (inc vegan burger as well) and the service excellent!

Wouldnt order again. Overpriced. The burgers are tiny and don't include anything it says on the menu. No cream or sauce on oreo shake like the picture charged full price though. The shake was same size as a small elsewhere. If the food had been very nice, would of made up for tiny portions. It was OK but not great.

I came here with my girlfriend and I had the all in whilst she had the Spicy bird. We both thoroughly enjoyed our burgers and highly recommend this restaurant! One of the owners Mo is extremely friendly and the service is excellent. Perfect place for a good burger in Oxford!

Everything was great - chips, burger, milkshake. Good job The only thing I'll say is, the patties are thinner than they look in pictures so if you're thinking of 3 in the burger will be too much, it isn't really.

Best burgers in Oxford! Tried the Angus beef, as well as the Southern fried chicken burgers. Hearty, juicy burgers. For me, fries were the winner; thin, crispy fries. So yummy! Definitely recommend. 💯💯💯 Halal, though no sticker visible on the door.

Although the burgers are tasty, Philly’s keep on sending me the wrong order on Deliveroo - way too many times that I had to refund my order on Deliveroo but left with frustration to always not the right item delivered. It has happened more than 5 times already and i’m not ordering deliveries anymore from them.

I had a southern fried chicken burger from Phyll’s. The customer service was great and the lady who served the food, Gracinda was so sweet and warm welcoming. She really made us happy. She prepared the best fries and food for us.

Waited 45 mins for delivery even though I live 5 minutes away rang up told it would be another 20 minutes to which I asked surely my order will be cold on arrival as it's apparently with your driver and guess what it arrived cold an hour after the original order time

Second visit. Confirmed my view. It is the best burger ever! Even better than Five Guys. It might be small and non-descript from outside, but inside the burger is to die for. And the exceptional Cajun fries just enlighten the experience.

Spicy bird chicken was a better option vs the double cheese burger. Probably I didn’t choose the right beef burger for my taste, would definitely go back to try other beef options. And their burgers are Halal.

At one point this was my favourite burger joint but they flattened their burgers so much it's it's like Wafer thin burger now and the chip so always cold

I got the spicy gonazalez meal. Was very good and the service was incredible and very friendly. Tuski and Mike were a delight. Also do student discount which was even better.

If you're looking for a quick bite and you're on a budget, then Philly's the place to go though avoid peak hours. The quality of the food is dependent on the cooks. I remember coming during the early days of its opening, the burgers were perfect! (Juicy and well seasoned). Nowadays, the beef patties tends to be overseasoned (salty) and burnt. This could be due to lack of staff, because there is only one person working - covering the kitchen AND serving customers. In addition, there are limited condiments available (ketchup or mayonaise). They could include other sauces as well and it doesn't cost much to add value to customer service. Cutting costs if not managed properly can translate into poor service. Hope things improve. Ftb I rather go to BGK or Glut, slightly more in terms of price but I get consistency in taste and service.

My husband and I were in Oxford for the evening and found Philly's on Google with great reviews. We weren't disappointed, contacted them through Facebook to be sure of a table and received a warm welcome, really tasty burgers and perfect fries (we both had cajun fries). We'd definitely recommend trying Philly's if you like good burgers. My husband's only complaint was that he had the XL and he'd have liked it even bigger as it was so tasty 😋🍔🍟

this shop is a hit or miss. having been here about 5 times, I must say the burger is something lathered with sauce til it's gross. and sometimes perfect. the fries on the other hand, can range from completely bland to too salty. it all depends on who is the one tossing your fries. would only eat here again if there was some kind of discount, not worth 11-13quid, maybe 9-11. it is also unfortunate they disguised a price increase as a menu upgrade. I prefer shops that are upfront about it.

Saw the place had a-lot of good reviews so gave it a try, burger was okay, got there and was told I had to order through their site? When a customer is literally right in front of you why should they need to order like that makes no sense to me. Not the worst place but didn’t live up to the hype.

Me and my girlfriend were walking around quite late and came across this place. The food is good, the music is good, and the decor is good. Most of the people coming in and out were delivery guys, but the experience was very much appreciated and felt like an authentic experience with a sprinkle of fairy dust. I later got an online order, where the shake was left out of the order but was realised by the staff and sent it along with another free one, followed by an offering of a free burger. I may take it up with them, but I appreciate how it was handled. I recommend the place. Darren

Really interesting burger restaurant. Good sized chicken Patties and the Cajun fries are to die for! I tried the Oreo milkshake; coupled with the cold ambient temperature of the restaurant, I don’t recommend eating in. Another drawback is the slightly student unfriendly prices for their products. Employees are friendly and very efficient, a guy called Asim who served me, was really friendly and provided excellent customer service.
