Booked a table for six for an evening meal. The restaurant was not by any means busy, bur we had to wait about 45 minutes for the main courses to be served. Four of the group had fish and chips. The battered fish appeared overcooked and the batter was rubbery. The chips were nearly cold. One guest sent their meal back and the other three decided to plough on as it had been a long day and there had already been a long delay before getting the meal. I had ordered a Caesar salad which consisted mainly of Iceberg lettuce and a piece of fairly tough grilled chicken. The sixth guest had ordered a half portion of lasagna which in our opinion should have been described as a quarter portion. All in all a disgraceful meal on which we were offered a 15% discount which was grudgingly accepted.

What a difference under the friendly new owners. Now a nice welcoming place to be. Had a lovely meal with the family. Clean well presented restaurant & tasty food from the new Romanian Chefs. Graham one of the owners greeted us & served us & looked after us very nicely. Tables laid with crisp clean table cloths & beautiful crystal glasses. Would recommend booking so they are expecting you. The hotel has a nice bar that is open to the public too & hosts music nights. We may well have found a nice local within walking distance. Well done Graham & team 👍

This is a lovely hotel. I stayed there from October to March on business so had a lengthy experience of what the hotel was like. I loved this hotel. It is perfectly located if you want to explore the Scottish Borders and the hotel grounds are really nice. The accommodation is nice and comfortable and the food is really good. Breakfast has a great choice and the evening menu caters for all tastes. The quality of the food is really excellent. The best thing though are the staff team. Particularly Leslie and Cheryl but really all of them are so friendly and nothing is too much bother. They certainly made me feel at home and one of the family. I cannot praise them enough. Overall I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend the hotel as a place to stay.

We called in twice for an evening meal at the Philipburn Hotel during our stay in the Selkirk area and found that the food & the service was just amazing. The place is spotlessly clean and the attention to detail is seen throughout the Hotel. The quality of all the food was excellent and the presentation of all the courses was so professional. Needless to say we certainly enjoyed both meals at the Philipburn and would certainly call in again if we return to that area. Initially we had mainly called in as it was Dog Friendly and of course this does restrict where you can eat but the Philipburn certainly made us feel very welcome and the lounge / bar area was very comfortable. All the food was excellent but the Sea Bass and the Fresh Fruit Sundae were just outstandingly good. Some great beers available as well.

One star for location and that's it. Can of soft drink despite stating 69p on the can almost £2?? Isn't that against trading laws re dual pricing? In addition born in borders IPA over £5 a bottle wow even the supermarket charges under half that

My wife and I stayed for two nights having dinner in the hotel each night. We stayed in a de luxe room (2) which was very comfortable and immaculately clean. It had all the usual amenities including tea, coffee and biscuits. Our only gripe was it was a little too warm for us but we find this with most hotels these days - must be our age!!. Service in the restaurant was excellent and well timed with no long gaps between service. I can fully recommend the Born IPA and my wife enjoyed the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. Breakfast was fine and the choice was good allowing you to make up your own selection. The sausages were excellent, tasty and well spiced - always my yardstick for a good breakfast. Dinner was also very good although I made the wrong choice of a sirloin steak on the last night. I tossed up between that and the haddock and the steak won but it was rather tough. Disappointing at £28!!. I advised the waitress but no action taken. My wife had the haddock and pronounced it delicious. The lamb I had on the first night was first class. We did think the cheeseboard could have consisted of some of Scotland's excellent cheeses. We would have chosen that if it had been. We had other desserts and enjoyed them each night. This is our third visit to this hotel and we would recommend its position for visiting or walking in the Borders. I did feel that it had become a little expensive overtime but since we are not travelling abroad we didn't mind. Can recommend and will probably return . Can recommend visiting the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels - a great historical account of Scotland.

Lamb was so tough, waitress offered us steak knives to cut it up, should not need a steak knife to slice lamb.

Nice small friendly hotel set in private, quiet grounds My wife and I stayed here as a stopover on our way to Inveraray. The hotel is well situated on a hillside on the outskirts of Selkirk and was a pleasant experience all round. We had dinner & breakfast at the hotel and both meals were good value and tasty. Staff were very friendly We would almost certainly stay again

Very lovely location. The rooms were clean and decor was nice. Bathrooms were also lovely. The staff were so lovely. Had one minor concern involving 2 other "drunk" people but the staff were very understanding and were so lovely and helpful. It didn't affect our stay massively so we would definitely come back! Recommend if your looking for cheap accommodation in the heart of Eyemouth ♡

Visit the first time for the pensioner lunch. Excellent value and extremely tasty. Hadn't appreciated had such a nice pub just a few miles away. Now planning another restaurant visit in the near future.
