Philip San Sushi in Camden

I was really disappointed with the service at this restaurant this evening... it's advertised on tastecard with an offer of 2 for 1... however when we arrived we had a point blank 'the manager says no'. Now I understand there may have been a misunderstanding, but it was handled poorly and on principle we left. I was really disappointed as i really fancied sushi and I'm sure the food is delicious?! It's not about the money it's the principle... Don't advertise your restaurant on a 2 4 1 offer then not honor it? And if there is an issue offer a gesture of good will and management deal with it, don't send your poor waiter over with a message.

A local gem. Small and unassuming from the outside but a pleasant surprise inside. Very authentic Japanese. I enjoyed miso black cod that was excellent. House sake served at room temp was very good. And the nigiri appetizers were good too. Very impressed.

Yesterday me and my flatmate tried out this place since it's very close to where we live and we were both fancing japanese food. It's a very informal place with a very quiet and intimate inside. We ate sushi, probably one of the best I've ever had, it was very fresh and tasty. Then we had an incredible ramen bowl. The broth was incredibly flavourful and the portion quite generous. We also enjoyed the Sapporo beer, the warm house sake and the green tea mochi. Definitely recommended!

Since we discovered Philip San a year ago, my boyfriend and I go there almost every weekend. It became our comfort food after a long week of work! We cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Our friends loved it too.

I have order salmon sashimi with the same expectation you have when you order sashimi of receiving super fresh salmon cuts, and it didn't even taste of salmon! So disappointed. Maki box was ok but the fish inside the rolls didn't taste very fresh either. Way too expensive and overall not worth what you pay for.

We have the teriyaki salmon and rice and the chicken Katsu curry at least once a fortnight as a take away. Beautifully cooked to perfection and served by wonderfully pleasant and charming staff

Having been to this wonderful restaurant a few months ago with my family, I decided to order a take-away this evening specifying the need for certain dietary requirements. Not only were the staff incredibly helpful in explaining which meals did not contain gluten but they labelled each particular sauce and dish, removing any confusion or worry. Like last time, the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Cannot wait for another visit!

Food is fresh & tasty, really food value and expertly prepared by the chef behind an open counter. Not just sushi, they have noodle dishes, various salads (the tofu/ seaweed salad is awesome) And other Japanese cuisine. Food feels very authentic. The room’s atmosphere could improved (maybe loose the tv?) but very much forgivable considering the standard of food. Great for vegetarians!

This is an excellent place for those who love Japanese food. The people their are very friendly and the food is indeed pretty good.

I would never order from here again due to their appalling customer service. I ordered a few times through Uber Eats and it was all great. However, I then tried through Philip San's own app. Terrible mistake! First of all the delivery company they employ broke the packaging so the food was falling on the floor outside my flat when they arrived. When I told him to take it away he just left it on the carpet outside my flat. Secondly, when I asked for the order to be resent or a refund I was told they do not get the money for another two weeks as that also goes through a third party. So over £40 down, no food, a mess to clear up and a carpet to clean. Absolutely awful!
