Phetpailin in Manchester

Rude servers gave us major attitude for asking for the special lunch menu. Then "forgot" to bring us utensils when bringing the food, then serving more attitude when we asked for utensils. Food wise, it was fine. Not special enough for me to tolerate the servers' attitude.

Great food! Authentic Thai dishes. Very spicy and quality service. Packed the evening after a match day. Highly recommend. Note they dont serve alcohol but there are a couple of small markets nearby so the 1 pound corkage per person is well worth it.

Absolutely fantastic venue & food. Needed a quick lunch whilst in the city. This place had a really cheap lunch menu and the food & portions were incredible. The staff were also so welcoming and friendly. Will be back again. Khop Khun khap 🙏🏼

I went with my partner and the food was delicious. Also very well priced. My fiance was in Thailand recently and he told me it was almost as delicious as what they made in Thailand. Good atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and courteous.

Fabulous meal last night, we were party of 9 and decided to pre-order a couple of days in advance which was very useful. Been many times and food continues its high standard authentic Thai food. Service was spot on despite the restaurant being full. Can't fault it at all. As always our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but we managed to finish it all in the end. Remeber this is a BYO which makes its great value, of you forget there is Sainsburys Local 1min away.

The quality of the food is so high! Absolutely delicious and will be going again! Tofu was an absolute highlight.

Although the food was a bit too spicy (we ordered the ones with 3 chilli!), my friends and I agreed it was so flavourful and tasty. Customer service was excellent. We'll definitely come again!

A cracking little Thai Restaurant. Had crispy beef and Spicy Stir Fried Duck. All utterly delicious. Large portions too, but it was so good I struggled through and finished it.

What a wonderful place to find on our trip! The service was wonderful and very kind. The food did not disappoint, the mixed starter was tasty. They also allow you to bring your own alcohol. They offer a full menu of mocktails to accompany it. All the rices were fabulous! Merry Christmas!

Lovely delicious Thai food in Manchester. I had the pad Thai whichwnas fresh and the server allowed me to have both chicken and prawn. With an extra charge of course. My friend had the Pad Kee Mao and said it was a little oily but tasty. It hit the spot. Well be sure to come back if we are in Manchester. Recommend it.

I was dining here for my department Christmas do and we had pre-ordered our food, due to the size of our party. I have food issues and was just going to have the Tamarind duck with variations on it. A lady from the restaurant sought me out and spoke to me at great length about my requirements and came up with a recommended dish to suit my needs. I was extremely grateful for this input from them and they made the experience a really good one for me. I had been worried all week thinking that I might not have had anything to eat on the night. I would not hesitate to recommend the spring rolls and the chicken pad Thai

Good Thai food and good service and friendly staff . You can bring your own wine and beer and no corkage fee. Food aa good as always with great service from the friendly welcoming staff

Amazing food! We were a party of 17 and we had a brilliant time. Big portions, great atmosphere and very efficient staff. Our time slot was 1.5 hours although 2 hours would have been preferable for such a large group. Glad we preordered the food. Thank you 🙂

A hidden gem in Chinatown. My parents are ones to complain but they thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was quick and friendly and they manage to squeeze us in on a busy Saturday night. My favourite dish is the red curry and the fried rice, flavoursome and fragrant. We even challenged ourself with the jungle curry, the spiciest curry on the menu, that even my partner couldn’t handle and he is usually good with spices.

Bring your own booze to the best Thai food outside of Thailand. So authentic. Absolutely delicious. Amazing staff. Service quick and with a smile. Fantastic value too. An all time favourite

I've just been here for lunch today, I had krapow moo chin and Khao suay with prik nam pla, together with a glass of orange. The food was spicy and very good indeed. Service was also very good. Highly recommended.

If you are a fan of Thai food and are in Manchester, I would say this place is a must. It isn't easy to find in the heart of Chinatown, but definitely worth making the effort. It isn't licensed, so you can either buy soft drinks in the restaurant or bring your own alcohol or a small charge. There is a Sainsbury's very close by. The weeping tiger steak was fantastic as usual as was the prawn red curry. Thick, a big portion and full of succulent prawns. The restaurant itself is quite small, so it is definitely worth making a reservation. The staff are friendly and efficient, and this really is a great place to enjoy an evening.

If I could rate 0/5 then I would. Made an online booking for 6.15 30/09 using their online reservation system only to be turned away at the door. No manager was on duty to discuss the matter or deal with a face to face complaint. I was advised that they don’t have time to look at bookings as they’re busy dealing with customers, yet everyone else sat at a table had a reservation! The food & service are generally ok but they really need to sort out their booking structure.

Tried to make a booking at 16:40pm through their booking system. Asked them to confirm the booking. Had no reply. Came to the restaurant at our chosen booking time, 18:15pm. Was told there is no booking. Told them what we'd done. Just told sorry. They've not checked the bookings from today when they opened! Absolutely terrible customer service. No "manager" was available apparently to speak to. Giving them 1 out of 5 is too high. Never again!

This is one of our most visited restaurants in the city centre and it never lets you down. The food is authentic and fantastic and unsurprisingly. This means it gets busy. To that end, I would say a reservation is essential, especially at the weekends. It is a bring your own restaurant, so the fact there is a Sainsbury's. one block away is helpful. the menu is varied and interesting and every dish we've ever had. There has been top-class. On this last visit we had the weeping tiger fillet steak which was delicious and cooked perfectly. The red curry was also excellent as was the duck with noodles. The portions are big, reasonably priced and better than most of the food. We've eaten on our visit to Thailand. Highly recommended

A great place for dinner whether for 1 or with company. Their pad Thai was delicious. Only chicken is halal at this restaurant which is a bit disappointing as most meat are halal at Try Thai nearby. But they have prawn here which is good. My only complain is that perhaps the owner could install the auto closing mechanism for door as it is a bit annoying sitting close to the door being left opened constantly.

The staff were very welcoming. Our food was good. We sat with our bill for over half an hour. A lone diner arrived ate his meal and managed to pay whilst we still had our bill! In the end I went to the bar and paid, including a 10% Service Charge. I think this charge should have been removed. The staff need to be more attentive to their customers.

Me as a Malaysian who go to Thailand every year (my whole family love Thai food) love this restaurant. This restaurant serve the real authentic Thai food which i couldn’t find in Germany( I study in Germany). I tried this restaurant at my first arrival day in Manchester and I go have my lunch again before I leave. Will definitely go again when I visit Manchester again. Do recommend everyone who wanna get some authentic Thai food. Here is the food I would strongly recommend if u wanna have some local Thai food. yam voon sen ( my favorite ) poh taak steamed seabass ( my favorite) papaya salad Thai tea ( try this!!!) other than that, you would definitely wanna try the crispy Mango seabass. Deep fried Seabass served with separated sweet and spicy sauce.

My family came to Manchester visiting me for a week. We had lunch and dinner at Phetpailin Thai restaurant. We came here more than twice in a week because the food was so impressive (would say it is very Thai authentic taste.) We ordered many dishes. Thai spare ribs, Fish cake, Fried egg, Jungle curry, Mee grob, Pla chu chee, Crispy beef, Fried rice, Coconut rice, for example. Staff was so nice. Good service. Delicious food. Really recommend.

I am thai, I have been living in the UK for 2 years I would say this is the MOST AUTHENTIC TASTE in the UK so far! I have tried soooooo many thai restaurants to find out where is the best and finally i found here! I was soooooooo happy with the food, all the ingredients, the taste and manus are what you will experience only in Thailand! Guys, just had a really wonderful meal here tonight! Really beautiful, authentic food with deep flavours. Mixed starters were delicious, I was particularly impressed with the vegan option that my friend ordered. Then the ‘Weeping Tiger Sirloin’ was a triumph. Service was super friendly and BYOB was the icing on the cake!

I ordered the Tom Yum soup with the shrimp. Based on the high reviews I read here. I was extremely disappointed. The taste is extremely lacking the classic Tom Yum spices soup. There were like 3 pieces of prawns , and dozens of mushrooms to the level that I thought I mistakenly ordered a mushroom soup. Very disappointed.

Love this place! Came here with two friends recently and it was some of the best Thai food we’ve had. The portions were generous and well priced, we had four starters, four mains and a side between us and it was only about £60. I had the tamarind duck and highly recommend it! Also had the pad thai and paper prawn to start, both really tasty. The food wasn’t too salty either. It’s also bring your own booze, which is always a plus! It was fully booked and they kept having to turn people away, highly recommend booking. I only booked the day before but managed to get a table okay. 10/10 recommend. Really friendly staff too. You also aren’t sat too close to the other tables, like you can be at some restaurants.

One of the tastiest Panaeng Gai Curry's I've had in a while. The chicken was so tender. The staff so friendly and courteous. One small criticism, the do not serve alcohol. BUT, you can bring your own and conveniently there is a Sainsburys around the corner. I highly recommend this Restaurant if like good Thai food cooked by Thai people.

Legit thai curry and comparable to those I have in Thailand. But the thai ice milk is disappointing and the flavouring is abit salty,so take a star off. 3.50 pounds for a small bowl of steam rice is also quite expensive. If you have craving for authentic thai food then yeah, can try your luck here.

Last went here 4 years ago. Wasn't particularly impressed but this time wow. I wonder if I were in a bad mood last time because the food is amazing and the service first class. TBH there were only two tables in use, so the atmosphere wasn't great. BTW this is a bring your own bottle place so should keep drinkers happy.

Table for 2 without a reservation around 8pm. We only waited 15 minutes to be seated without a reservation so can't complain about that. However, the atmosphere of the other tables being loud and rowdy made it not a great experience. Especially made it uncomfortable for me as they were loudly making complaints about the food and slow service as they were eating. I know this is at no fault of the staff however they were making comments loud enough for neighbouring tables to hear but never mentioned it to staff. We ended up rushing our meal in order to leave to avoid listening to more of the complaints which dampened our meal. There were large parties which understandably caused the staff to be rushing around. The food was delicious and would come back again.

I can honestly say this was the most authentic Thai food I have had outside Thailand. Lovely unassuming, gentle service. Would definitely recommend.

The best Thai restaurant in Manchester. My friend and I ordered Padthai, Pad pong karee and crispy beef. The food tasted amazing and very authenic as I am Thai myself, and the portion was very generous. The staffs here also friendly and attentive. We had a good time here and would very much recommend.

I have been there with my friend for a dinner and being served by a friendly lady. We had a nice dinner and enjoyed the food 🥘. It was my first time to have Thai food and I really like it. The restaurant is clean, quite and comfortable to have a meal. I just pop in but advised to book 📖 n advance next time. I really enjoyed my day out and highly recommended it. The opening time is quite confusing, they open morning until 14:30 and evening from 17:30.
