We popped into the cafe for a cuppa, however, both my daughter and myself needed to loo, lady tried tonput us off by saying it was two floors up, well we were happy with that...my daughter nipped to the loo, and then we ordered a tea cake and a cuppa each...attitude of the lady was shocking, she came at us and said my daughter had left the tap on, which she definitely did not...she said the tap was leaking, well sorry but this is not our fault....she went on and until we decided to leave...not a pleasant experience at all....so avoid at all costs....needless to say i never went to the loo.....the teacakes were small and bland, and not worth the money....pot of tea was fine......

I have used the cafe for many years. The food is good but the real star is the kind lady owner. I have 3 children and she always makes a fuss of them, remembering what they like to eat. She brings out activities for them to do when waiting and always makes me feel I can stop and just chill for half an hour. Many thanks.

Have visited several times over past few years, most recently in April 2019. Owner very helpful to those (including one of my daughters) who suffer from food intolerances - a separate menu is available for coeliacs and the owner asked about dairy too. Food was prompt and tasty - the meatballs in a wrap are really nice! We've had various dishes over the years, both the English breakfast type ones and the Chinese ones - all being fine and the owner is so very friendly and helpful. The cakes on the counter are good too - and at least one of them is gluten-free. Cafe very quiet that lunchtime though, hope that the new restaurant above Oxfam opposite isn't taking away trade from a lovely small business!

This is a nice-ish little Cafe, but it close early or used to The menu was average with a mix of English and Far Easren food, but a bit over-priced I found, but in the main the owner/owner's try their best, but are not overly friendly To go to the Toilet, is a bit of a death trap climbing the stairsand avoiding all the boxses laid next to or onpart of the stairs - as well you have to nearly en-croach the Kitchen/Serving counter - that I dont think is wise as well as the boses being an Health and Safety Hazzard - but the staff/owners do guide you up the stairwell ... but that is not the point -it's not or should'nt b e planned as so, these kind of things should remain seperate. Otherwise it is a nice to ok cafe I guess. MNothing amazing, nothing truly poor food-wise, which eqautes it to "middle of the road" in my book

Pheonix cafe is a fantastic little cafe with a large menu of delicious meals and snacks. It also has a dedicated menu for vegetarians and celiacs. The staff are so lovely and friendly and the prices are very good value. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Wetherby!

A little cafe that I've walked past for years. Looks a bit down at heel. There are better more upmarket places to eat. Well don't let that put you off. The food is good, the cakes are home made, dogs are welcome. Why haven't I been here before. Full English of bacon, sausage, hash brown, beans, tomato & egg £4.20. OK the place could do with a lick of paint & is bit shabby but scores on the doors for hygiene is 5. Why not give it a try

Here the owners work hard and long hours to serve regulars and passing trade. True, it's not the most salubrious place in Wetherby but it is honest and decent. Graceful service and very good, reasonably priced food. Highly recommended if alone to get a re-balance of work-hard, honest ethics.

Another fantastic lunch at the Phoenix cafe! The staff are so friendly and the menu is so wide and varied. I had a falafel and salad wrap and my mum had a cheese and tomato toastie. With drinks the meal came to around £7.50 for two. The food is delicious and homemade. I cannot understand why this cafe isn't number one for food in wetherby! It's a must visit!

Thought we'd try this village pub with the super beer garden. Good choice of menu, special boards. Good service, but food seemed very much 'freezer fayre '.

What a great place - excellent food (had the all day breakfast), superb coffee and really friendly service. And all at a price way cheaper than the nearby posher looking places. Don't be put off by the shabby look if the place - give it a go and you won't be disappointed.

The Pheonix cafe serves delicious food at very affordable prices. The owners are so kind and helpful. The menu is wide ranging. I love the ciabatta melts, toasties and breakfast sandwiches. A toastie is less than £3.00 and comes with salad. An egg and mushroom sandwich is £2.50. There is also lots of Chinese food as well as British favourites like omelette and jacket potatoes. The cafe also has a gluten free menu and children's menu. I really would recommend this complete gem of a cafe in the heart of the market place!

Can't understand why this isn't higher up the list of cafes in Wetherby. Small, unassuming place with great fresh food and service.

We popped into the Phoenix Café yesterday. The café is small, and could be missed. But it's a hidden gem. The lady who welcomed us into the café could not do enough for us, and when she found out that my mother and I were coeliac, she was quick to present us with a whole gluten-free menu, full of dishes that we could eat. Not feeling very adventurous, I had a jacket potato with cheese (a very fresh potato, served piping hot), while my mother had the gluten-free sweet-and-sour chicken, which was delicious and authentic (I can attest to this, because I tried a little piece). The owners have thought of everything, with gluten-free batter, gluten-free soy sauce, and gluten-free bread all available. Gluten-free scones and jam were also available for snack-seeking coeliacs. It's also the most reasonable place to eat in Wetherby, with two meals and two drinks costing a little over £10. Highly recommended. We will be back again. I might even try something new next time :-)

Popped in here for a snack as it was raining. It doesn't look much from the outside and to be honest i wasn't expecting a great deal. Although the decor inside is old and tired, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food make up for that. They offer the usual cafe stuff (breakfasts etc.) but also a decent selection of Chinese dishes. The food was very tasty and well priced, four of us (2 adults and 2 kids) ate and drank for under £20. The owner was so welcoming and friendly.

Situated in the town centre on the A661, this tiny cafe's yellow frontage does not do it justice. Passing through, we popped in for Saturday lunch with 1 hour parking right outside. The window was cluttered with certificates, deals , menu etc all making it difficult to appraise from the outside, fortunately we saw past this and went in! Inside the decor is classic and warm, with Chinese artefacts . The lady who served us was friendly and very knowledgable about allergies and intolerances , my with being a coeliac ; providing us with a gluten free menu. The meals were freshly made, hot and tasty, with no excessive waiting time. A specials board provides further options at reasonable prices. Our two meals with coffee's cost just over £11. It was also nice to see other local shopkeepers dropping in and placing their lunch orders. These were soon prepared and hand delivered , surely a recommendation in itself.

I’m from the village and this pub has changed hands multiple times over the last 5 years or so. No one has made it work and it still isn’t working. Saturday before Christmas with a party of friends with children, the menu was down to pizza and burgers (could be understandable if preparing for Christmas Day). BUT they ran out certain gins, got to the last barrel of Maretti and the place looked a mess. The bar was lifeless and not well kept, it looks like a pub is ready to follow the pattern and soon close (time will tell). I really want this village pub to work but fear it never will. If you’re reading this to make a choice, go to Cromwells or elsewhere until it’s fixed !

The best Greek street food I’ve had in the UK! The owners are so welcoming and the food was so quick to come out. Recommend the halloumi gyros - absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back!
