Been there a couple of times, Great Czech/Slovakian and or Hungarian foods classical for Our cousine, Professional and also Friendly staff, Nice place, Music events from time to time.

Had lovely chicken soup and Czech Gulyás with my girlfriend, was very delicious and shared the potato pancakes as a starter with a Czech beer each as a nice late lunch. Service was great and very reasonable prices, will definitely be returning!!

Went there on Sunday, beer and some cocktails run out by the time we got there, it was a bit disappointing. But the food was delicious as always!

Went in today for the first time for food Lucy was lovely atmosphere was great music outside really good. The mixed grill was superb and the pizza out of this world. Will be going again soon but going to try more traditional food next time.

Original pub. The look,the atmosphere. Waitresees are very kind,funy and friendly. You can speak everythink about there. The Czechoslovakian food was realy identicaly and had a original nice taste. They got amazing a big burgers. I spent a nice time there.

Love coming here, great place with wonderful staff that excel at keeping a calm and relaxed environment. Definitely an eclectic menu, meaning I can try new things each time I visit, which I really enjoy.

The food is so good especially the fried cheese and chips and pricing is so affordable especially if you just want chips and dip the portions are immaculate you could only get chips and be full of just them all the bartenders are so kind and well mannered I would highly recommend going especially if you want a good lively place to go!!!!xx

Was not impressed. Even when presented with valid id lucy rejected members of my party. Claiming they were underage.

Toilets were disgusting and not to mention Lucy refused to serve me alcohol at the age of 20, I thought it looked like a lovely bar but instead it was dead, don’t know if she wanted an early night but it was open with the intention of drinking which she obviously didn’t want. Wouldn’t go again. Do not think it’s a place for young people to explore which is a shame as it could be nice.

Refused to be served by Lucy, have valid ID but said her alcohol was too strong, must think shes the owner of the whole place, not sure why. Don’t recommend as anyone from ages 18-21 as she won’t serve, thought it looked like a nice place but sadly mistaken. She was also very rude.

Great food, we tasted Slovakian cuisine and some Hungarian dishes. The staff were lovely.

Ordered a chicken schinzel with bread crumbs. When it came it was pink, I asked politely to just fry it up a little more. Second time it came still pink, I cut it up into pieces to see if all chicken was like that and it was. I didn’t take a bite becasue I am very aware of eating chicken. I asked to remove the chicken from the bill and I got accused of eating half of chicken and I offered to put it all together to show it’s not been eaten at all! I came to that place before few times and chicken was good all the time, this time was not, and was being accused of eating it when didn’t have a bite!

I ordered a soup, I received a sauce with random pieces of meat, overcooked potatoes and something that used to be peppers, the amount of flour killed all the taste, I do not recommend it

Delicious Slovak kitchen and some Czech food. Good Czech beer make me pop every two weeks to visit. Service is brilliant and can chat with them for hours. Atmosphere is traditional Czechoslovak “koliba” like indoor with Juraj Janosik ( Slovak Robin Hood). I would recommend to dine or have lunch here is good for price and you get big portion of fresh home made food. Five stars!

Tasty food, it just needs your slices of meats to be bigger and thicker for the prices you're charging. IMO.

Waiting time too long! An hour of time for soup and sausage is definitely too long!!

Dried fried cheese...the cheese was not cheese.....the fries were fine...the chicken soup was not seasoned.....

A Czech restaurant in the UK. Just don't expect Czech prices.

Great food at a good price. Service at the highest level. Prices are very good compared to the highest quality of food. Fried cheese of very good quality, you can't buy homemade dumplings in any store, everything is perfect and the lady behind the counter is very polite and nice. Food relatively good , waiting time forever without being busy though , our server very polite but loud, they were talking with another customer so loud as they overtook the music 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ ,toilet area so messy ,we wish them all the best with their business but not gonna go back.

Food is ok nothing you can’t do at home in a hurry atmosphere feels like it’s more for foreign people if you would go on your own you would feel a bit weird, service ok . Pork chop felt like it’s Fried In fryer I don’t know not for my taste I gues . Overall wouldn’t return as prices is not that cheap maybe for a drink in summer outside only .

Sat outside with our kids for a quick drink before moving on for dinner elsewhere. Gentleman serving couldn’t do enough for us. My toddler babbled about wanting some chips and the man brought a small plate out for him free of charge without us knowing/asking. Extremely good service, shame table was booked at a few doors down otherwise we would have stayed. Will be returning as the fries were delicious! Pints were great as well.

Me and my family travel up to 2 hours to try this restaurant the waitress was so nice and pleasant but the food is sorry the shock for example the pork belly I have never tasted worse than this so sour sauce like from powder my family ordered chicken steak with rice so dry... no sauce, everything dry and for the kids we ordered gravlinky and nuggets and got mini cutlets and ravlky 🤣 the soup was not soup but privarok a lot of things we waited almost 1 hour for food and we paid 6x adults and 2x children are we £200 pounds serious ? never ever! you can cook better than this at home.

Not good as a years ago. Waited for the food one hour never waited that long even restaurant was busy in past. Had a mix grill plate meat very dry. Other food was only ok. Girl is working very hard in there should get help ASAP when restaurant is getting busy. She deserves it! Also looks like there is only one chef? On Sunday day common he should get a help too.

I will come back for mega goulash more often

I have been going to Peters tavern a few times a year since they've opened. Food was always great as well as the service. It's sad to see this place going in the completely wrong direction. On last two occasions I wasn't very impressed with the food but on our last visit I couldn't believe they served me my favourite dish with knedliky hard as a rock 😿 The taste of the dish wasn't as it use to be I would give it a 4/10. We got our money back but that's not the case when you're starving you're the only person in the restaurant you're waiting 30+ minutes to get food and it's in such a low quality and some uneatable. I'm writing this comment hoping the owner will notice and bring some changes into the business. It was our place to go to when in Hanley unfortunately it won't be anymore unless something's will get improved.

I have been this Peter's Tavern over few years with my family, but I wasn't impressed and disappointed last Saturday 25th. I ordered Mixed Grills, rosemary pork steak and chicken nuggets with chips. Meats were great like we always had and vegetables overcoked and burnt. Disappointed 2 small Mayonnaise sachets charged £2.00. Toilets were disgusting and clogged toilet. I am not sure their kitchen are clean??? We will not and NEVER come back again

Went to Peters last night for a meal, Piccadilly was packed and we couldn’t get in anywhere Peters was very quiet to we tried The service wasn’t great The food was 5/10 all vegetables were over cooked and burnt The toilets were disgusting When the bill came they charged us £2 for Mayonnaise!!! In 50 years of eating out ive NEVER been charged for condiments We expressed our dissatisfaction and we were told that’s what we do.

Today's visit to this restaurant disappointed me for the soup, we waited 1 hour and after consuming the soup 40 minutes for the main dish, I think it was quite a long wait in the soup, the potatoes were hot, the spices were hot and the soup was cold, and the Hungarian goulash was also warm and the dumplings were cold 😔 and you have to be careful in the toilet so that you don't fall on the slippery floor water and the toilet is blocked and a disaster ..... the waitress was nice but you could see that she had a lot of work so I give her 5* !!!!!

The food is really tasty, but I have to admit the Segedin goulash, has nothing to do with Chechoslovakia,not just bc that country is not existing,but Szeged is in Hungary. And we don't use cabbage in gulyás. I was born in Szeged.

Very disorganised and not very truthful employees. We called the restaurant twice to make an reservation due to our long trip to check this place out. Every phone call was ending with reassurance that we don’t need a reservation even though we were insisting. Of course the moment we showed up at exact time that we said we would like to come, place was packed. We can’t get over why wouldn’t the lady answering the phone twice tell us such a thing and simply not take our reservation (for 5people may I add). Ladies that were in the restaurant at the time of our arrival weren’t very helpful either. Just made a sad face and suggested that we should have made a reservation. Really frustrating and utterly disappointing. I don’t think we gonna retry to visit this place ever again.

3 of us came thursday. Im writing this review still sitting here cause they deserve 10 stars!!! Me and my dad had the rump steak with pepper sauce and my partner had pork steak with a hot sauce. The best rump steak i have ever tasted nice thick piece. We will always keep returning thank you very much to Veronica (sorry if it is spelt wrong) you are wonderful

Called in here on the spur. So glad that I did nice clean and relaxed place. The food was great never eaten Czech food before and it was great and good value for money. Won't be my last visit.

Good little bar in the Cultural quarter

Food is very nice but ordered a vegetarian dish which came with sausage and bacon unfortunately. Toilets require updating and the flush needs to work better (couldn't removed the small amount of loo roll from the person before me and mine). Lovely lady served us.

Absolutely love this restaurant, visited many times. The food is traditional Czech and Slovak cuisine done very nicely. Amazingly the prices seem more aligned to the Czech Republic than England. I would say it is absolutely worth travelling out of your way for this place not only because it is one of the only Czech/ Slovak restaurants in the country but because it offers fantastic quality for the price.
