Petals Tea Room in Braintree

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a late lunch, the food was superb, the Staff so helpful and the actual tea shop was full of wonderful things to buy. Thank you for looking after us. Worth a visit

Have been very many times here and it is a lovely little tea rooms. Only bug bears are that at £17.00 seemed a bit steep for a ploughmans and also would like the menu to be a bit more varied. Ie Jacket spuds etc.

In my opinion this little gem is the best tearoom EVER. Top notch food and brilliant food. My mum and I have been 3 times and never disappoints They have done well with there recent redecoration . Looks brilliant. I had a baguette with chicken and ham . My mum had cheese tostie. Very happy, of course we left room for cake. Banofee pie sponge. Very yummy . Love a tea from a proper teapot. We had to buy a couple of trinkets , so many lovely things to purchase. Service always good, the ladies friendly and welcoming. So another lovely visit. Hopefully return when weather warmer so can try out the little huts outside. They to cute. Thank you 😊 xx

Lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Very friendly and I felt very relaxed. Lovely choice of cakes and so pleased there was vegan choices and scones with no egg. Real tea served in a beautiful sliver tea pot with a pretty china cup. Will definitely return 😊

I took my Mum for afternoon tea after previously enjoying a fabulous lunch in the outside eating area. Today we sat inside the tea room and enjoyed the most amazing spread .... too much to eat in one sitting but we were encouraged to take away what we couldn't eat to enjoy later. I asked for a vegetarian option and was surprised to find both mini veggie quiche and 'sausage' rolls when I had given very little notice for the reservation. Everything delivered by a friendly and engaged team and in a beautiful and interesting setting. Excellent value for money and highly recommened to locals and tourists alike.

I can genuinely say this place does *the* best egg mayonnaise sandwich. It also had little chunks of bacon in it but it wasn't that that won me, it was the egg and the mayo. Dreamy taste, creamy mayo and chunky eggs. I've had a few egg mayo sandwiches in my (long) time and this definitely comes out top. Everyone else in our party was happy with their lunches too. What more can we ask for?!

This place is amazing! Reserved a beach hut for afternoon tea for my mums birthday. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious and lovely quiet ambience as quite rural. Totally worth every penny and would definitely recommend and return.

I have been coming to Petals for years, not only for the delicious food, service but also the staff are incredibly friendly. It really is an asset to our area.

Went for a late Mother’s Day lunch with my partner and both of our mums as the tearoom had come highly recommended. Our mums enjoyed the food although they said it was nothing particularly special and couldn’t understand the amazing reviews they had been told. I ordered a trio of scones, when it arrived I only had one which was apparently because they ran out of mini ones but was never told this. As I cut into the scone I found it was frozen solid in the middle…the menu said they were fresh. The waitress was very sweet and offered to get me a new one which she did but it took 40 minutes as they are all freshly baked then frozen- so not fresh at all really? By that point my family were bored and had finished eating 20 minutes ago. When my scone finally came it was okay at best, you could tell it had been frozen as it was dry as sand. Without asking I was refunded for the scone which was lovely but was charged separately for my pot of tea which was actually included in a set price with my scone. By this point I couldn’t be bothered to argue it- we paid and left but I definitely won’t be returning anytime soon. Devastating as I had heard such great things about this place!!

By far my favourite tea room in the area. Julie always looks after us when we go and the food is incredible. The afternoon tea is beautiful and perfect for any occasion (ive had many). The portions are very generous and you will never leave hungry, plus theres plenty of tea to keep you hydrated. Theres also lovely quirky items forsale throughout the tea room. Its like an aladins cave of beauty. It simply must be on your visit list ❤️

Always a lovely homely atmosphere, the smell of freshly baked cakes and food. Lots of goodies to choose from, I personally love the home made quiche. Lots to buy as well, chutneys, jams, cakes and crafts. Lovely outside space.

Just one mile from the Sandringham Estate this is a gem. Great selection of home made savouries and cakes and very friendly service. There is free off road parking (unlike Sandringham Estate) and also some outside seating. Well worth a visit.

Passing the Petals Tearoom one sunny afternoon, fancied a cuppa. So glad we stopped. Lovely staff. The cake, all homemade, was really special. Even though it's an hour away from home, we will be going back soon! Can't wait.

I have visited Petals many times, but this is the first time this year, due to lockdown.The setting is so pretty and inviting. There is so much attention to detail from the furniture to the decor, toys for children, items for sale and even books to read.I had a lovely quiche (cheese and bacon) which was so tasty, with salad and new potatoes. Just writing this is making me feel hungry again! Had cake for afters which again was delightful and a generous portion. Covid measures were in place making us feel safe.Petals is a wonderful setting and truly worth a visit. Julie has put her heart and soul into making it a welcoming, value for money setting.

A little early for teatime and a little late for lunch ... but welcomed ... a lovely wood burner and oh so comfy chairs. Food was delicious, lovely fresh salad delicious pecan pie. We didn't want to leave, but weren't rushed, although we had things to do. Will definitely be back very soon.

Absolutely fabulous. We all had Afternoon Tea for Lunch.Presentation was superb. Sandwiches were decorated with strawberries and marshmellow. Mini quiche, sausage rolls, scones with butter, jam and cream. Delicious cakes, mini chocolate sponge, mini Victoria Sponge cakes and Meringue. Everything home made.Well done Julie and team.

Petals serves consistently delicious food at very reasonable prices. The tea room is beautifully decorated and fun and the staff are really lovely. They have a good selection of toys and games for kids whilst waiting for food and there's a neat outdoor seating area, too.

We called here for lunch on a day out and really enjoyed the food and the ambience. I had a cheese toasted sandwich which was made with proper bread and came with a tasty side salad and crisps. My other half had a baked Camembert platter which he really enjoyed. We were too full for a cake but they did look good. We would definitely come back.

Visited last week after reading the reviews and definately worth a visit. Petals afternoon tea was one of the most enjoyable afternoon teas, we have had in years. So much effort had gone into making the food enjoyable by the owner. On the plater the sausage rolls and mini quiches were hot , mashmallow flumps , a bowl of fresh stawberries and a jug of cloudy lemonade was waiting. Even the glasses were decorated with a small strawberry. The Dorchester, Ritz etc do not go to that much effort. My mum had a fabulous birthday afternoon tea. Please do not be put off by the location based in a run down nursery grounds as inside you could not ask for more beautiful and pretty surroundings. Full marks and we will be returning!

Went to Petals for the first time, yesterday, for mum's birthday. My sister, mum and I were brought a three tier cake stand loaded with yummy goodies accompanied by homemade lemonade, a big pot of tea and a cafetiere of fresh coffee. The sandwiches were well filled; the bread was fresh and flavoursome. Mini quiches and sausage rolls which were still warm from the oven. Eton mess meringues, bite size scones, with jam, cream and fresh strawberries, and not forgetting the individual sponge cakes. All was delicious, served in their charming tea room. The ladies behind the counter were exceptionally welcoming and helpful.

Julie and team pulled out all the stops on an emotional day remembering our wedding reception 2 years ago as well as raising much needed funds for IPF and APF.

Thoroughly enjoyable lunch in very pleasant ‘boho’? surroundings. We selected from a selection of freshly cooked individual quiches served with salad and new potatoes. Very tasty, freshly cooked and no microwave anywhere. Friendly staff in relaxed atmosphere.

I booked afternoon tea for 3 of us for my mums 81st birthday. The lady who took the booking was most helpful and friendly...even asking where we would like to sit. When we arrived we were shown to a lovely area with 2 big very comfortable sofas. Our afternoon tea was brought to us along with sugar free cloudy lemonade (as me and mum both diabetic). I have to say it was all delicious and delightful.....everything clearly homemade,fresh and done with love and care as was evident. We were offered more tea etc. All in all it was a lovely birthday treat for mum and probably the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Would definitely return and recommend. You won’t be disappointed. As usual, the food was delicious. We had a longer wait than usual due to a high number of diners that day but were given a few drink each to compensate. Karen was her smiley self and it was another relaxed lunch in a lovely setting.

I have visited Petals in many occasions and never have I been disappointed. Yes, sometimes there is a slight delay in the food service, but this is because all the food is freshly made - a small price to pay for a fresh, tasty lunch. The cakes are always to die for and the portions very generous. The staff are always welcoming and if you want some bargain plants too then visit the Garden Centre alongside. Great value for money. Can't recommend it enough.

I visited Petals along with some family members for afternoon tea.

I have been to Petals twice now and had delicious food both times. The first time I just had lemon drizzle cake (which was divine) and last week I went back with my friend again and we both had the egg mayo sandwiches - which were the best ever (lovely thick slices of bread) along with lots of crisps and a lovely salad. The pot of tea for two I shared with my friend was huge and all for about £14!

I was part of a group of friends having afternoon tea as atreat. Overall the food was good but the presentation was piecemeal, the napkins were very shoddy, we had to ask for sugar and hot water and were not asked if we wanted more tea.

My wife found petals on TA. we decided to have lunch there on a Saturday. We booked a table (advisable) as petals is very popular. When we visited they were in the throws of building an extension to the tea room which should be open very soon. The menu is not extensive but what is served is cooked to order and is fresh. I had the baked Camembert which is served with chunks of joint bacon with a large hit baguette with a mixed salad, apple slices, grapes and chilly jam and chutney. My wife had a club plus sandwich which consisted of the usual club ingredients plus melted cheese, egg and chilly jam accompanied by crisps. We had teas and coffees and we left totally satisfied. The decor in petals keeps you occupied consisting of amusing signs, plaques and pictures that is pitched to appeal to children and adults. All in all a very pleasant experience and reasonably priced. We spoke to the owner who explained the timescales for the extension. We visited in early March when we experienced the strong winds. There is an outside area which considering the weather still looked appealing and in better weather would be lovely with shade and seating. We plan to go back once the new extension is open. Give it a try. I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

It was my third visit to Petals and third afternoon tea but my Husband's first time there as I kept going on about it I thought I had better take him and he loved it, it's so warm, friendly and cosy and the food was delicious, we are currently enjoying a jar of the cherries and berries preserve on our toast. We sat admiring the cakes and will be back to sample one of these in the near future.

Had the most amazing baby shower here at Petals today. Julie went out of her way to make everything go smootly and all the little bits i overlooked she had in hand. Food was amazing and drinks were flowing and constantly topped up. The room was decorated beautifully and everyone commented on how lovely it was and the attention to detail.
