Persia Hove in Brighton and Hove

*compulsory service charge, poor service, mediocre food, and rude floor manager* Honestly, the only thing I can credit this place for is the interior- very aesthetically pleasing. However, the food was very average, especially in comparison to Shiraz (another Persian restaurant) down the street. The rice tasted undercooked, and the grilled dishes are very dry. Aesthetic definitely is not everything, so if you want good food, go to Shiraz. Each issue: Upon arrival, despite being told we could sit where we like by a waiter, we were demanded by the manager(?) to “SIT THERE”, gesturing in a direction. Very rude, and so we obviously ignored him. The service was disappointing. My drink came very very late, and the manager’s excuse for this was that “it takes long to make”. Bear in mind, I ordered a pina colada and everyone else who came after us got their drinks before me. Infuriating excuse. Additionally, my partner’s fork fell on the floor. Our waiter said they’d replace it, but never did. So he had to take one from another table. The menu is misleading. We ordered hummus which says on the menu that you can add bread, but there was no price so it comes across as free. When the bill came, another £5 was added for bread! Another misleading factor is that the grilled dishes says they come with either chips, salad, or rice. I picked chips, and ordered an extra side of salad because I wanted that also. But when my dish came, there was chips and salad on it. So I paid for a whole other bowl of salad for no reason. Their menu is lazy and confusing, and we had to lose money for the mistakes. The service charge is £6+, even though the service was noticeably poor in several ways. We queried this service charge when we got the bill, and this is when the manager then invalidates the issues we had. We ended up paying to avoid a scene, because he was clearly so convinced by the absolute rubbish leaving his mouth. Not impressed- don’t let the gold stairs lure you into this place.

I had such a bad time while visiting Persia we ordered our drinks and they came out 15 -20 mintues after and the restaurant was empty and we waited over an hour for our food to arrive bare in mind it was pretty much empty and the bill comes and you have to pay a service charge which you don't know about because they put it in the small print that no one looks at we refused to pay which the server said we didn't have to pay anyway we was about to leave and another lady comes up to us demanding we pay and we have to because it's in the small print and when we started go question it she started getting rude to us food was okay wouldn't go again

Such a beautiful place with very kind and welcoming staff. The owner is a super nice and friendly guy and the chefs are all lovely and great chefs. The waitresses are all so nice. Had a great experience spending my birthday there. Definitely would recommend. Food was delicious and it was a birthday well spent there.

Really good food, super smart restaurant and very friendly staff presence. Manager was sprinting from kitchen to table with 3 plates of lamb. Bro was going for Olympic 100m gold medal (world record), Usain Bolt will be quaking in his spikes.

Went recently to this restaurant and the guy in charge (not sure if he was owner),was rude and arrogant! I recieved the wrong dish and through no fault of my own was not only charged more but made to feel foolish! The food was mediocre for the price and bottled water £3 for small ! At the end of the meal as we were with a party had to work out our own payment (he gave a calculator) ,charged us service without option and didn't give receipt for cash payment! I would certainly never go there again and the guy was rude and certainly not interested in the customer needs! Overpriced food and lousy service,no thanks!

STAY AWAY!!!! Myself, my friend & 34 year old daughter (all female) had a 6.30pm booking on 18th November. The waiter tried to rush us into ordering a drink & food, as soon as we sat down. My daughter asked if they had bottled coke, he said what kind of place do you think this is, look around you, you think a place like this serves coke on a pump. He completely patronised & embarrassed my daughter! I asked a question about the chicken dish & he raised his voice, was condescending, rude & arrogant. He tried to make me look stupid, telling me, he's worked in restaurants 24 years, how he knows everything about restaurants & menus, as if I knew nothing. I said I'm asking if it contains chicken, a simple yes or no would have surficed & there was no need for rudeness to myself or my daughter. He continuously referred to my daughter as her, as if she was beneath him! I was shaking & asked if we could have a different waiter. He said no, so I said I don't think we can stay here with your arrogant attitude towards us, I'm shaking. He said pay for your drink & you can go. We were there less than 10 minutes & were left distressed, shaking & absolutely shocked & horrified at this incredibly disturbing experience! This waiter actually frightened me!! Never ever would we recommend this restaurant! The most arrogant, patronising person I've ever met in my 59 years! Then the waiter puts comments under my review acusing ME of being rude! WOW!! He also says I was nervous, yes of course I was nervous, a big man standing over me, raising his voice & telling me over & over again, I am sure of myself, I am sure of myself, when my daughter & I simply asked a question!! Do you serve coke in a bottle & do you have to order the chicken separately, simple! If you are the owner, I'd strongly recommend you stay in your office & stay away from the customers, especially female customers, before you lose them all! It's a good job our husbands were not with us, but then again, you wouldn't have spoken to us like that if our husbands were there!! Good professional business owners would have apologised to us after my review, but your response just highlights your arrogance further!! You should be ashamed of yourself treating women like that!!!!! You obviously went straight on to the reviews because you knew you were so completely unprofessional, condescending, rude, arrogant & patronising, so knew that we would put a bad review! We went out for a nice relaxing evening & were left completely stressed, shocked & horrified!!!

As always such a lovely evening the food is fantastic and the staff always go out of their way for you. They’re also great at advising dishes that are best suited to what you are looking for thank you again Kay for a lovely evening and making my birthday meal so lovely!

Went on the 25/10/23 for my gorgeous friend Kevin’s birthday, from the get go the service was great , the owner and Kay were so helpful and so hospitable and made the evening. I will say if you don’t like big displays for a birthday this might not be the place for you but we all loved it it was great. The food was soooo delicious, the mint sauce was divine and my friends saffron rice was out of this world. Thank you Persia, see you soon !! Xxx

Very disappointing, no value for money, the price doesn't make sense at all. First time seeing persian food that charges separate for rice, persian food is all about rice.It's like ordering beef steer fry noodle in a Chinese restaurant and they charge you separately for the noodle. The taste is very basic and staff are not helpful. There are other Persian restaurants on the same road that have better quality persian food and nicer staff. I will not return.

Beautiful decor, clean and spacious. The gentleman was warm, friendly and welcoming, I could see the passion and pride from his service. The food was absolutely amazing, extremely generous portions, cooked to perfection with lovely flavours! Very reasonably priced, would defo recommend and will be returning in the future. I had to edit my review because I posted the review of some other restaurant on Persia hove. Opologies for that. The food was very great in taste and ambience was amazing. The just had a quick take away and portion size was certainly more than usual. I think there are very few options in Brighton and Hove which are as good as Persia Hove. Highly recommended. I Felt happy and satisfied.

Absolutely loved the food, service and the vibe. Had two loud kids with us but the staff was amazing and entertained the kids as well. Also served us complimentary tea at the end and baklava. Definitely going there again.

Ordered jooje kebab off the bone with rice. The staff was mean. The food is expensive for something that tastes pretty basic. There are other Persian restaurants our there that have better food & staff. The ambience is pretty nice. Not sure if i’d go again.

Me and my girlfriends had the best time eating at Persia - the food and service was amazing!! We would absolutely recommend and Kay made it an incredibly special experience. 10/10 would for sure recommend this to anyone who wants authentic Persian food with a great atmosphere!! Good points .. Waiters were kind friendly and helpful . Calamari was excellent and the houmous was ok This place is very overpriced for what you get the chicken was dry and the minced lamb was rubbery and very very salty the rice was just plain and bland no flavour at all and salad was very basic. Complained to the waiter and he then cut a piece of meat from my plate to take to the chef to try .🤨 He then came back and said we don't usually do this but we will give you one meal for free even tho 3 plates were salty but I did not want to argue . The drinks were OK and at £12-16 quid I expected much better . If I am to spend the amount that I spent that night i think I will go to the Ritz as you get what you pay for . We also got the bill early before we had even finished .

The Food was nice- however the service was not great- half of the people joining our table for dinner were running late by about 30 minutes- whilst we were sat there waiting for the rest of our table to arrive no servers came over to offer us any drinks whilst we were waiting - felt ignored! - we also paid our bill without adding the service charge as we didn't think the service was good enough and one of the servers stopped us in tracks to pay it. I thought this was not enforceable. We felt intimidated to pay, which we did , but will never go back.

Food was good, but our waiter (old guy with glasses) treated us differently than other customers, being nice and smiley with them, but was cold with us. No thank yous after giving us the bill, didnt even look when handing out the receipt. Double standards.

This place was a lovely surprise. I thought it would be a kebab shop but what a surprise. A lovely little intimate den with great decor, lovely staff and a huge menu of very authentic food. No westernising being done here. The meats come with wonderful rice and salad. Very healthy, very tasty. And huge! I took mine home for dinner the day after and it was just as tasty. Highly recommend the place. What a delicious treat for church road.

I celebrated my birthday this weekend at this restaurant. The food was lovely my party of 10 enjoyed it. However the people who order lamb chops struggled to eat their good and asked for a different knife to use however that never came. The main reason why this place is getting 3 stars is because one of the waiters yelled at me in front of the whole restaurant and my table on my birthday as I asked a another waiter a simple question that I had asked him 20 minutes before. I just believe it was uncalled for and to make it worse he then told us off for not paying the service charge and finished off by telling us we are not welcome again. There was one lovely waiter though that saw I was upset and my whole table enjoyed his entertainment.

Lovely staff, lovely dining experience.

I went for dinner with girls at Persia and we had a fab night! The food was great (highly recommend the Tzatziki!) the portions are on the larger side so no need to order extra salad or anything like that. Kay (I think that was his name!) was amazing, he was attentive and even gave us a round of shots at the end! I can’t wait to come back.

The food was great which doesn’t come to surprise. However, the new lady with black hair and the bald guy with glasses were so rude to us just for the simple fact that we said we have been waiting for almost an hour for our food and we asked “where is it?”, they took it personally and kept on proving us wrong saying we will check the cameras and it’s so funny that after they didn’t cone back to see what they saw which was the truth! Will never eat here again, it used to be one of my favorites but after ruining our new year’s experience this place is no go for us.

Luxury decor with a relaxed vibe. Food was excellent - we went for the traditional Iranian stew with yellow spit peas, aubergine and lamb. It came with chips plonked on top which worked really well (they’re not precious about their food). Served with a finely chopped salad. The white rice with spices was a surprise cos it was really really tasty. My husband had a chicken kebab again served with that lovely rice. Service was laid back and genuine. Very good.

It was an eye opener never been to a Persian restaurant before I enjoyed it immensely went with my family and we were well cared for I went again by myself to enjoy the atmosphere again I advise anyone to go you will not be disappointed

Absolutely lovely. Seven of us visited for my Birthday and Persia did not disappoint. Firstly we were greeted by smiling, very welcoming staff. The ambience/decor is amazing, so beautiful. We ordered promptly and were served our meals in perfect time. The hummus starter was enough for three and very tasty as were all other starters. Our mains were nice large portions and everyone was positive about the flavours. Two of the party had Baclava for dessert and said it was delicious. I had the best night. It was a Friday night and very, very busy. Therefore I did find it a bit of a wait for service once we’d finished our mains. But as it was such a lovely, warm, comfortable place to be, we noticed but were not upset by this. Thank you Persia. We will be back and I have recommended you already.

First time visit to this restaurant, very nice setting. Excellent meal , great staff, friendly service had a mixed grill £49 for two including drinks and dessert £81 Would definitely go back and is worth a visit.

Overall I had a nice meal with mates and everyone in the restaurant was clearly having a good time with the club vibe. When you get past that and down to service, food and price Persia is “fine”. The meat platter for two people can feed four, so I’m curious about how much food wastage they produce. A negative for me. The quality of the food was good, and dips were tasty - but not worth the price. Cheapest bottle of wine on the menu - £25. Service speed etc was all good so no troubles paying a service charge. Would be 4 stars, but it’s too expensive for what it is and for me personally it was slightly chaotic.

Persia is a top-notch place I have ever visited in Hove. Stunning decoration, amazing ambience, super delicious food which was incredibly presented, excellent service from starting to end from the whole team that is really appreciable. This place is just perfect I would highly recommend. Best experience, would love to visit again.
