Wonderful service and food soooo delicious. Everyone are working towards customer comfort . Friendly staff . The visit made our day

Pros. Great service. Good setting next to the river. Lively atmosphere. Good menu for meat lovers. Very large portions. Quality of the food was excellent. Doggy bags as an option. Single portion of bread enough for 2. Single portion of rice enough for 2. Cons. Poor wine menu. Very few veggie options for main courses. Overall very good and we would go back. Next time we’d ask for much less rice and single portion of rice.

Had a really nice meal here last evening. The food was well cooked with authentic flavours and was delicious. On the menu the platter didn’t seem a lot in terms of quantity but don’t be fooled there was more than enough to feed 2 hungry people. The chicken was succulent and the lamb was tender and flavoursome. Had an aubergine dish and hummus with freshly cooked bread to accompany they were really amazing. The staff were really nice and so helpful. They were attentive without being intrusive. We had a table with a nice view of the river Thames so good views to make the evening even more pleasant. This really is a nice place to eat and I will definitely go back.

Quality authentic food, the house special platter of mixed Kebab along with the freshly made bread ‘ a must if you visit’ ! Quality meat in the kebab, proper authentic food which is often rare. Good service and friendly staff. wine choice limited, but house red was of good quality. A little on the pricey side but the quality made up for the additional cost.

Visited the restaurant with friends. Food is good! The only thing that's off putting is the service charge is not itemised. Check you bill before you pay, as staff don't receive the service charge and goes to the owner. Staff depend on cash tips. It's a shame because all the staff work really hard and receive basic pay and not the service charge that they should be given for the service their provide.

Revisited this restaurant as we last visited in August 2020. What a disappointment. This was a totally different restaurant. The food was bland and felt like the cooking was by a bunch of lads playing about and not by a proffesional chef. For the money it was not worth the visit. Until they get a decent professional in the kitchen, give this rstaurant a wide berth. O the updide, the service was good.

I have been to the Persian restaurant many times. Always welcoming, fantastic food and service, I highly recommend it.

I took my fiancé and our children here for his birthday as it is our favourite restaurant. The food as always is amazing and the service from staff is outstanding. The only issue was the blonde lady who walks around like she is the boss (not even wearing a mask during these COVID times - not a great example...). She does not smile, does not help and in my opinion ruins the atmosphere slightly. Apart from that 5*!!!

We (family of 4) had a wonderful evening meal at Persia House. The table had a lovely view of the river. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous - it was great value for money. The service was friendly. We'll definitely be visiting again.

With a bread oven that 'greets' you as you walk through the door you know that things are going to be authentic. The food is simple but absolutely delicious - including the freshly baked bread from the oven. Who knew a chicken shashlik could taste so good. A bit more variety of dishes to choose from would be welcome (a lot of the main courses are meat on skewers) but I will defintely return when I want this type of comfort food. The service was attentive and delightful. I imagine the view of the river is interesting too - we went there in the evening when it was dark but could still hear the current and the ducks!

The place, service and scenery are good. Staff attentive with a smile. However the food is overpriced and average. The food was slightly cold. We had soltani and kashk bademjoon. I am comparing to other Persian restaurants in London.

4 of us had a cracking meal here. The veggie amongst us was adequately catered for, I gather. As for us real men, the meat dishes were spot on. Healthy too as the feast we had was all chargrilled. So meat, Sabah and rice. Spot on. Service was great with a smile. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious, authentic food; amazing freshly cooked flatbread prepared in front of you and cooked in the wood-fired, tiled oven. The most humble, charming people taking care of you and explaining any of the dishes. I can’t wait to go back soon

Se sugirió compartir comida para obtener la mejor experiencia en general.El pan persa en la casa es increíble, podría estar feliz con eso y un chapuzón, sin embargo, mis amigos hambrientos querían más y me alegro de que lo hayan hecho. La comida es de alta calidad, bien presentada y sabrosa. Persia house is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river Thames by caversham bridge. On arrival we were greeted in a very friendly manner and escorted to our table overlooking the river. The food we had was truly excellent and the service was exceptional, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant

Esta fue mi primera visita a la Casa Persia que un compañero de trabajo me había recomendado para nuestro equipo. Cena de Navidad y fue una excelente comida con un gran servicio. Comenzamos con una selección mixta de platos fríos y calientes, y todos quedaron encantados con el hecho de que no quedaba nada. Todos tuvimos platos principales individuales y tuve el cordero que vino con arroz. Nuevamente excelente y la salsa especiada en la que vino el cordero era sabrosa. La mayoría de nosotros optamos por un postre y nuevamente no fueron decepcionantes. Creo que Reading tiene suerte de tener este restaurante iraní bien administrado con vista al río Támesis. El único inconveniente era el estacionamiento, pero el estacionamiento cercano de Waitrose se puede usar durante 3 horas si usted es un cliente allí.

Great food, service & ambience. Better than some of the Iranian restaurants in London we have been to. Can’t believe we have one in Reading finally. Also has a lovely riverside view.

I just had a superb late Sunday lunch here. With lovely views of the River Thames, this is a great place for some warm and delicious meals. As you enter the restaurant the smell of hot, freshly baked bread fills the air. The portions are very generous. If you like well-cooked lamb there are many dishes to choose from. Also loads of veggie options. This is a great place to spend time with a warm and friendly feel.

We had a fried down staying and wanted to take her out for a meal, somewhere different to the usual Indian, Chinese or pub. We booked a table after hearing a couple of good reviews, what an understatement they were. From the moment we walked in the staff were excellent, attentive and so helpful. The atmosphere and decor was fab. We ordered the mixed grill for 4, it gave a great selection of authentic food. The portions were huge and it was amazing flavours. We can’t wait to go back and try more off the menu. It’s a great addition to Caversham.

We had a wonderful meal on a busy Saturday night. Very reasonable prices and charming staff. The food was spiced but not hot. They made the flat bread in the restaurant. We loved the decor which added to the Persian experience. A very enjoyable evening.

We've been here for two birthdays in a row - lovely food, great service and really beautiful decor! Definitely the best restaurant in Reading! We'll be coming back very soon.

Very pleased with the quality and variety of food choices. We tried different dishes and they were all well cooked, good flavour. Didn't rate 5 because of a plastic cover on the table; any hot plate will suction on it and I found it annoying.

Based with a thames side dwelling on Caversham Bridge, this place is easy to find, and entices with the river view

Visited with family for lunch recently. We were sat by the window so got a pleasant view of the river whilst eating. All the food was delicious. We had mixed starters to share, with plenty of flatbread - all very good. Would particularly recommend the salad olivieh and the tomato-aubergine dip (have forgotten the name of it).

Went here for a birthday meal. Food was superb and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service great. They noticed that it was a birthday and played some birthday music and gave us a birthday desert. Great location. A bit quiet hence the 4 stars. Would go back

First visit last Saturday night, a group of 8 of us who couldn't agree on Italian/Greek or Indian/Thai and we thought that this might be somewhere in between.

Very friendly staff and polite and the food was delicious as well.I didn't booked a table and we just walked in.We had a view by the river table and I think that everything worth the money.One of the best restaurants in Reading for sure.

Just got back, first meal we had there during first week of opening was wonderful but wow have standards slipped, 15 min wait for drinks order to be taken (only 4 tables occupied so not busy). When drinks did arrive waiter spilt them over table !!! Typical English we did not complain but then then be offered a "on-the-house" salad as recompense. Last time we will go there and we normally always support local business

I have literally just had a meal from Persia house. I am incredibly disappointed. The food had no seasoning and tastes bland. I cannot comprehend where all these 5 star reviews are coming from. It is one of the worst meals I have EVER paid for. A complete waste of money. My sister who also had a different meal which was equally atrocious. The meal in the picture cost almost £18.00.

First visit tonight and it’s a gem. The staff were welcoming and we were given a choice of tables - for 5 - both next to the windows overlooking the Thames and Caversham Bridge. The decor is authentic and relaxed. The menu is clear and describes the food accurately but without hyperbole. The hot and cold starters were super, we did the 5 for £21 for any selection. Two baskets of warm thin flatbreads were provided and the flavours of the starters were exciting. The highlight was the olives with walnut and pomegranate paste, but everything was well-spiced and sufficiently different from Arab or “Indian” or Greek restaurants to be memorable.

Tried this restaurant tonight after many months of seeing good reviews and it did not disappoint. Nice relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff, good service and delicious food. We will be back again!

Where do I begin ?? It's simply a beautiful restaurant containing so many pieces of arts have had to come a long way for its decoration Persian carpets pictures all give you a glimpse of this rich ancient culture .The traditional Persian bed dining . Very friendly staff , amazing food , Nice Persian Music and the beautiful view of the river side !! this place can only get better with more live music on the weekend can make things even better .

Had the Persian Koobedeh with rice. It was well presented and tested good. However the rice was nowhere near enough for an adult meal. Would have tried a dessert but was abandoned by the waiter, eventually got someone's attention paid and left.

We were given the whole area downstairs which was tastefully decorated and has its own bar. There was plenty of food to suit all tastes and everyone left merry and satisfied. We even had a Persian in our party who also said that the food was good. I have eaten here a couple of times since and have always been very happy with the food and service. Great party venue and great people.

Visited this hidden gem of a restaurant for lunch and was thoroughly impressed with the food, service and ambience. For those who appreciate finer food, this Persian restaurant is a lovely place. Kind, helpful and ready to please at all times.

Living locally we thought we would try this restaurant. Good location, pleasant interior and staff but the food was average to say the least. We had a sharing platter starter and the best thing was the freshly cooked bread.

We visited the Persia House for my son’s birthday last night and I really can’t fault it. From the moment we contacted Bashir to book a table to the moment we left, the service was personal, warm and friendly. We love Middle Eastern food and this was the best we have tried in Reading, better than the chain restaurants and the service was way better. As a table of 5 we had no complaints whatsoever with the food which was full of flavour, fresh and hot (I really don’t know where the negative reviews come from). This is now one of our favourite restaurants in Reading.

We go there for the Kebab dishes as my children love Kebabs. We always have a great time as it is very family friendly. The staff are very nice and the service is quite good.

We had a lovely meal at Persia House this evening.. it’s our first visit and we will definitely be revisiting. Lovely service, delicious meals and a great view over the Thames for sunset.. just a shame to see it the restaurant so quiet in comparison to others in Caversham - hopefully in time word of mouth will attract more of the locals. Loved the Halim Badenjan to start. Worth a visit for sure! We’ll be back!

I can’t knock the service, atmosphere or general vibe. But the food was really bland, unimaginative and very average. Plus seriously overpriced, feels old

We visited on a Friday night as a group of 4. The restaurant was relatively busy, authentically decorated and had a good atmosphere.

We were looking forward to a night out as we haven't been able to for a while due to commitments and this restaurant had been recommended. When you enter it has a great ambience, the staff were friendly and came over with the menus immediately taking our drink order then coming back for the food. We shared the starters which came with the flat bread which was very good. The downside is that we hadn't even finished our starters and they were bringing out our main course. We like to go out for dinner and take time to enjoy it not feel like you are at a fast food restaurant. My partner went to speak to them to advise we want to wait 15 minutes and hoped we wouldn't get this food back re heated. It's a shame that they did what the did as we enjoyed the food, it had a good taste. I had the sweet and sour chicken stew and my partner had Lubia Polo which was a lamb dish. We would go again in the hope that next time they wouldn't try to rush us through the meal.

WE ordered a take out from them 12/3 and it arrived hot, and delicious. The food was sumptuous, elegantly spiced and deliciously flavoured. The lamb was exceptional, moist and tenderly flavoured.

Food is full of flavour and so delicious with service from people who really care about your experience without being fussy. Felt like a home from home, highly recommended.

This place has really come into its own. With a few teething problems in the beginning when they opened, considering the size and popularity, they've really whipped into shape .

This was my family's first time at this restaurant and we loved it. The food was first class, delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive and they even helped me bring out a birthday cake I had made for my sister's birthday.

We had held back on visiting this restaurant due to some not so favourable reviews but in the end decided to give it a go. The starters were poor including a hummus that had no taste and did not seem fresh except for being drizzled with oil to try and breathe some life in to it. Disappointingly it was served with cold pitta bread and the plates were cold including for the main courses. My girlfriends main of chicken and lamb was ok, mine which was a stew lacked taste. It was also not cheap. We won't be returning. I think there is potential here but they have a long way to go to get it right.

been here three times now, as it is local to me and have enjoyed each visit. The welcome and service are friendly and helpful. The food is subtly different from other Middle Eastern cuisine- more delicately spiced and with citrus flavours. We particularly liked the baba ganoush and hummus as starters with freshly made flat bread, and the olives. The rice with barberries is also slightly different with a tanginess to it. The Spanish dry white wine at 15 quid a bottle is good value. Will be back again soon.

Our first visit & not sure that I would go again. Saturday night was full to bursting. The service was really, really slow. The staff had no personality. The drinks are expensive, no draught beer only bottle, £3.50 for 330ml Bud. Food was luke warm when it eventually arrived, I was no at all impressed.

Perched upon the North side of Caversham bridge, in the building occupied a century ago by a popular hotel, Persia House offers you a great meal with beautiful views on the Thames. Persian food in not easy to find, and can be delicious; here, the choice is vast, the portions are vast, the quality very high, and the service very warm and friendly. As you enter, a working bread oven welcomes you with its aroma - Persian bread is prepared on the spot, in front of your eyes. A very reasonable bill at the end made us decide to return very soon...

Went to this restaurant with my daughter and her husband my last night in the UK we had a reservation for 6 15 and when we arrived there was no one there...thought oh no this is not the place for us..;.;but it was and it is wonderful....the food is out of this world and if you read most of my other review I am a critic and not easily pleased...the waiter who recommend dishes was great Bashid I think his name was.. he was excellent..the tea try the pot it is served with wonder glasses and you don’t need wine...the food is so great and the plates are plentiful .....it is not your typical restaurant where you share but you could ...wonderful wonderful and I will recommend yo to everyone

As we are local to the restaurant and were pleased to see a new restaurant to try we booked a table for 6 on a Friday night. Warm welcome, table overlooking the river. Food good, especially the starters and grilled meats - very generous portions - excellent freshly cooked flat breads. A good addition to the choice of local places to eat, would be good for families and groups of friends. No parking, but not far to walk from nearby carparks and is on bus routes. Look forward to going again, on the lighter evenings the view will be great!

Excellent food and reasonably priced. I particularly liked the starters Portions are sizeable so you may not need a pudding. I had the ice cream which was good. A Persian restaurant in Caversham is certainly a new theme so is welcome.

My husband is Iranian and we passed by chance this restaurant. We immediately booked a table for the following Friday. It was amazing. Great quality and great atmosphere. It is so hard to find a Persian restaurant outside of London but this is our new ‘go to’ restaurant. You definitely don’t have to be Persian toe joythe food. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed

My colleagues and I now use this as our regular weekly lunch out and also place to take customers for lunches since we have discovered it. The staff are very friendly and look after us extremely well helping us with choices. The food itself is wonderful, full of flavour and very reasonably priced, and the views over the river are lovely. I’m very glad we discovered this new restaurant and look forward to many more delicious lunches. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

For the first weekend in Jan the place was packed! Brilliant atmosphere matched by the excellent food and service. A great addition to Caversham and Reading. Come and enjoy x

As soon as you step in you are greeted my the smell of fresh bread, then you look around at all of the fantastic textiles that really make you feel like you’re in Persia. Our host Bashir was fantastic and guided us on what to have for an authentic Persian experience. The food smelled amazing and tasted just as good. Highly recommend the Persian black tea as a perfect way to finish off the meal.

Wanted to try out a different cuisine., and waited for a few weeks after opening to avoid the teething problems. The restaurant is nicely done up, and is situated beautifully for scenic views over the Thames. Staff is friendly but service wasn’t quick - we did go on a Friday night and it was quite busy. The menu had fair bit of variety in it, including a fair few vegetarian choices. The food however, I found a bit underwhelming for the price. The lamb with okra that I chose, had 3 pieces of lamb in it...

I booked this as a 2018 New Year's Eve dinner for a party of 10 friends and as it was a new venue I was worried that it would be what we hoped for on NYE. I need not have been at all concerned as it surpassed our expectations in every respect giving us a memorable eastern experience.

The interior is decorated beautifully, and has great views over the River Thames. The staff are friendly and were happy to help when we were unsure how to eat the specialist dishes! The food was great and we all ate far too much, and will definitely eat there again the next time we are in Reading. Affordable and delicious. Would certainly recommend.

This is a new restaurant, only open for around a month and right on Caversham Bridge. Nearest parking is either the car park at St Martins Precinct (about 3 minutes walk) or the one behind The Griffin (a matter of seconds) which is chargeable.

Just had a delightful lunch at the new Persian House restaurant on Caversham Bridge - warm and welcoming dining area on the street level (it seems there is an even bigger area on the lower floor). Their web page does not yet show the weekday 12.00-2.30 lunchtime opening but everything else is there times & menus.

This new restaurant has an excellent atmosphere with very attentive and helpful staff. The food is good, if a bit bland - I know that the spicing in Persian food is supposed to be subtle but this did err on the side of 'suitable for middle-class Waitrose customers'.

Great location on the River. Fresh breads cooking as you walk in smell amazing. Decor in keeping with the persian theme, very neat and clean, but also welcoming.

With an amazing location by the river, and a vast audience of ex Londoners relocated to the burbs of Caversham as parents, you would think this independent restaurant couldn’t fail but to thrive....

Was super excited to visit this new Persian restaurant near us. As we went in the venue looked beautiful and was decorated really authentically. There was even traditional seating which looked cool .

I am half-Persian so was thrilled to hear that a Persian restaurant had just opened locally. Having had amazing Persian food cooked by family and also at various Persian restaurants in London, I am quite fussy about the standard of Persian food. I am relieved to say that the food at Persia House in Caversham is excellent – as good or better than the Persian restaurants in London. The décor and ambience is wonderful too – nice and light with views of the Thames, beautifully decorated with Persian carpets, table coverings and paintings. Nice and clean. The service was friendly, helpful and unhurried – a good place for a leisurely meal. I had lunch there today (Sunday) with my husband and our daughter. They were family friendly and there were some kid’s portions on the menu. I can happily recommend all the food we had. For starters we had the Persian bread (freshly baked which makes all the difference) with Mirza Ghasemi (delicious tomato/aubergine/garlic dip). For mains my daughter and I had the boneless chicken kabab with rice and my husband had the boneless chicken kabab and minced lamb kabab with rice. The meat was delicious and tender and moist. The rice was perfectly cooked. For dessert we had Persian tea and lovely freshly cooked sweets (zoolbia and bamieh). It was all wonderful. We will definitely be back.
