Perch on Lancing Beach in Adur

Expensive considering the ambiance and shoddy service. It's only redeeming feature is its beach top location, which is fabulous on a nice day.

Lovely warm welcome, good choice of food - all delicious and reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location by the beach.

Just had a lovely fry up breakfast with a "cafe con leche" here. We had some seats by the window overlooking the beach. The staff and food was lovely. If you're in the area, we highly recommend visiting.

Poor quality food, not very dog friendly, i had my small chihuahua on my lap and was told to put her on the floor, she’s and elderly frail dog. the chips were overcooked and my wife could not eat them. i mentioned this when paying the bill and there attitude was we will take the service charge off the bill. I have an issue with that comment. I pay a premium to eat out and i do not expect to be treated this way as if by removing the service charge that was applied automatically without my consent was some kind of compensation. I would not entertain ever going back. poor food, poor attitude. i personally think that Gratuity shouldn’t automatically be added wherever you eat and i only tip if its not added to my bill automatically and the service is excellent. i would have received a better service at McDonalds STOP AUTOMATICALLY ADDING GRATUITY TO ALL BILLS!!!. We need to stop this as why are we the customer paying to top up there low wages.

Delicious Sticky Salmon bowl and even though there is scaffolding for building works right now, there are still unending sea views. Perfect spot for a healthy lunch after a sauna. Staff were smiley and attentive and the loos are clean.

I had almost given up on a decent Sunday roast not cooked at home, but our visit to Perch has given me hope! By FAR the best sunday roast I have ever had in a restaurant, lovely service, food was excellent with moist, tender meat and plenty of vegetables and gravy for everyone. An absolutely fabulous experience. Thank you!

It's nice clean and tidy here. Can be super busy during good weather as you'd expect given it's location on the beach front. I've only eaten a few times here but each time it's been great food. And the drinks good. No issues with either. My favourite so far was the breakfast ( brunch I think it may have been called). That was delicious. Really good quality sausages and bacon. It makes a breakfast stand out from some others. Service has always been spot on! And the atmosphere changes with the weather , which is kinda what you want from a seafront eatery isn't it?

Not really impressed with the menu

We came as a large group for the sharing roasts and had a lovely time! We’ve recently found out our daughter is allergic to peanuts, sesame seeds and mustard, Charlotte was so amazing and reassuring checking everything for her. She definitely took any stress we had away about eating out with allergies! Lovely atmosphere and all other staff members we came across were lovely too.

What a brilliant idea serving a roast from 4pm onwards, when most other places have either run out or finished serving... huge portions with 3 meats and a variety of vegetables etc. will be returning regularly...

I have been coming to the Perch for a few years now enjoying their amazing coffees and lunches. Just had my first roast dinner here and by far the best roast I’ve had (sorry mum) Charlotte was our waitress and was very polite . I highly recommend the Perch. I will definitely be coming back . Thank you to all the team at the Perch.

Swung by for a takeaway fish and chips, which we enjoyed outside on the seafront seating. Hands down the least greasy fish and chips I’ve ever had, obviously using high-quality ingredients and cooked properly. The chips weren’t traditional “chip shop” chips, which I wouldn’t have chosen normally but nonetheless they were great. Kid friendly. Warm and welcoming staff. The restaurant was crazy busy, however they had plenty of staff on so the service kept up with demand. It was only a flying visit, however, I will certainly be returning in the future to properly dining in.

Breakfast got off to a great start with a table for 2 that seated 4 on beach view window ! As breakfast was a mini celebration this was great - you’re asked what the occasion maybe when booking so it was either serendipity or really good customer service. First visit so wasn’t quite prepared for such a busy noisy place but we soon got in the flow. Reasons for its popularity are clear: fantastic welcome & serving staff, great happy atmosphere (all waiting staff sang happy birthday to a little girl when we were there which was charming) and as well as all that : fantastic food, coffee and the best mimosa ever voted by my daughter. Would happily return and work my way through the delicious breakfast menu - thank you Perch ! 10/10 5 🌟 just one thing : I wear hearingaids which amplify everything so I found it impossible to hear my daughter without putting my knife & fork down and cupping my ears (impossible with such delicious food on the table) so it’s not the place for a quiet talk at busy times. Would not put me off returning - but for anyone wearing aids or hard of hearing will struggle.

Love this place great location food and service

Unfortunately we didn't book and ended up outside with an inferior menu. It was raining, windy and cold. I would come again as inside was inviting and the menu looked good.

The Perch is a nice dining venue, being on the beach, but the prices are now too high. We had a sharing Sunday lunch which was substantial in quantity but, for me, too expensive (£39) and £15 for a pint of lager and gin & tonic is not really reasonable. The beef was too tough to eat. Also, not for the first time, they had run out of wine glasses and we had to wait for two to be washed. No problems with the service, but we won’t go back.

Great place with a great location

The Perch is right on the seafront, and the only place around, so I expected the food to be expensive and small portions. How wrong I was. We had two fry ups (full English breakfast) and it was only £12 (Oct 2024), it was a really good sized portion, and everything was perfectly cooked and very good quality. The staff were absolutely lovely, really polite, friendly and smiley. What a find, we will definitely eat there again.

Weather outside was awful with short sharp showers so atmosphere was quiet in the perch. Staff were great and so was the food .

13 of us had lunch on 13th September which was an absolutely beautiful day. The sun was shining and the window was open to give us a cool breeze. We were so impressed with the food and service. A couple of our group were arriving late so our waitress, Dionne, suggested she ask the kitchen team to start cooking our pre ordered food a little later so that we were all served together. Her ability to look after a table of 13 was second to none. Dionne was so friendly, polite, helpful and efficient. A real asset to your team. Thanks!

Nice place and good food. A little pricey

Fantastic setting with a warm and welcoming family environment. One of the few places where the staff let you take your time to choose your drinks and food, and it isn't rushed out. We had sirloin steak and frites with halloumi and cheesey garlic bread - we ordered an extra salad, but one came with each of the steaks. The cheesey garlic bread was the size of a pizza and soooo yummy! The steak was cooked rare to perfection and placed on top of the well seasoned semi-circular cut chips with a plentiful slathering of rich and creamy peppercorn sauce on top of the steak. Amazing service from Maddie and the other staff. Well worth every penny, and paying towards a local independent business that treats it's staff and patrons well, unlike the beach green hotel who under portion meals and bully staff and patrons.

What a great place with absolutely stunning views. We had a halloumi brunch which was delicious, a long walk along the beach front and then back for coffee and a brownie. All were great. Staff are lovely, attentive and friendly. We really like this place:)

Lovely little place recommended by our holiday let landlady. Chefs Sticky Asian Salmon to die for. Went back next say and had it again. Still dreaming of it over a week later!

My wife and I visited Lancing recently and visited this incredibly busy establishment…we hadn’t booked in advance but they let us use a booth. We were served by a charming young lady called Lucy - and she was just exceptional in every respect throughout our numerous interactions with her - an absolute star. The food we ate was delicious and served extremely quickly considering how busy it was. A very positive experience, which I have no doubt we will repeat again soon.

Third visit now to the perch in Eastbourne, food was excellent as usual. The service and staff were extremely efficient always very friendly and helpful. We were served by Harry today.

We would all like to say how well efficient Dionne was. We were a group of 13 diners,1 couple were running late Dionne delayed all our for us so that we could all be eating at the same time. When paying she had it all organised and everyone's bill worked out just right. And the food was excellent. Well done Dionne we will definitely be back again

Tried to book Perch on the pier Worthing but was redirected to Lancing restaurant as time slot wasn’t available on Worthing Pier I checked the menu on Perch website to see the differences between the Pier restaurant and the Lancing “cafe” and it seemed reduced but still a decent selection of options However, when we arrived after a short walk in pouring rain to a virtually empty restaurant we were informed that the only items available in the evening were a very small selection of pizzas - which we did not want, so we left. The website is misleading because if you click the menu you see the lunch items it doesn’t state clearly that all you can have in the evening is Pizza, so it was annoying and disappointing in equal measure. We drove down the road to the excellent Chipwick in Worthing who squeezed us onto their last available table and we had an excellent fish meal there

Good food. Service was not brilliant but due to being very busy I would day they did a good job. Atmosphere is a personal opinion. I prefer quiet,but pleased they are busy

Great location and lovely staff. We only went for a coffee and cake, which were nice. the seating area for that is quite limited if its a rainy day, if not there are plenty of seats. if sitting inside there is only one low table, the rest are all high and you need to get onto a stool to sit at them. one of my party was heavily pregnant, the staff were very accommodating and as there was space they allowed us to sit at a low table in the actual restaurant.

Great location, nice decor and good food. Service is always friendly but not always the best. I rated the place average because of state the toilets often are! I know customers should behave better but there should be more checks and care to clean the toilets. When going at the end of the day or afternoon they are always really dirty and often almost unusable. We expect better from such a lovely place.

Had a lovely breakfast with my daughter, we were warmly greeted on a very wet and windy morning! It’s our favourite place for breakfast, the food is delicious and the staff are always friendly. Special thanks to Sophie and Hannah 😊😊

Cafe by the beach, watch the wind turbines out to sea, observe the park run, enjoy a coffee and croissant, or sit in silence reading a book. Great inside or out. Close to the scare park to get freshments or the play area to escape for a baby Chino. When we arrived there were fresh baked goods, friendly staff and some birds to watch and take our crumbs

My happy Place ! I shouldn't be reviewing or I only have myself to blame if there are no tables left. Summer or winter swim and for me breakfast at the Perch. Not just the full English on a winter morning with an oat milk coffee but all the good stuff, salmon, spinach, hollandaise, halloumi, mushrooms etc etc. Friendliest staff in a country mile and the relaxed beach atmosphere. Perfect 👍

Very busy when we visited. I had the Brunch which was excellent value. The Fish and chips looked very popular. Lots of cyclists eating outside and in.

we had breakfast on a nice sunny day however chose to sit inside because outside food only consists of breakfasts baps. we had lovely, friendly service from one waitress in particular. the breakfast menu (served until 11:30am) looks and sounds better than the quality and taste of the food itself, unfortunately, as presentation looks great. I had the Halloumi & Shrooms (on sourdough with a poached egg, smashed avocado and a spicy tomato sauce) but the only good thing really was the halloumi. My fiancé had the cooked breakfast but again, mediocre. I think the only thing we both really enjoyed was the large portion of hash brown bites which came with (our choice) of baconaise sauce. I personally wouldn’t recommend this place for breakfast but that’s more down to the individual experience in the day.

A very popular eating place you can either sit inside or outside to eat you can also order. Alcoholic and soft drinks,food is very nice the staff are very prompt helpful .You may have to book ahead because it gets very busy, especially during the summer months and bank holidays. Nice view of the sea from the windows. There is a play park nearby and lots of fields to play in and parking but it's pay to park

Brilliant breakfast. We were served by Dionne and her customer service was excellent.

Always very busy, as the restaurant was full, we had a pizza takeaway by the beach instead. Originally informed may take 15 minutes, but ended up waiting for 30 minutes. It's freshly made and cooked, and tasted nice, different to your normal Domino pizza.

Brilliant as always. Dionne our server is kind, helpful and goes over and above with the service. Never had a less than excellent experience with her.

Great place in a great location. Prices could be a bit cheaper but you pay for what you get. Food is always good, service is always fantastic, and the view is always spectacular.

Food was excellent, very busy and quite noisy.

Only popped in for a coffee with a couple of friends. Staff very nice and welcoming. Coffee was very good. But sitting in the coffee shop side of the restaurant the acoustics are terrible. You can hardly hear what anyone is saying and that is why I've only given 2 stars for the atmosphere.

Nice beach to enjoy the sun. This is not a sand beach however having very good atmosphere with kids play area and open are gym and ample car park. Drinks, ice cream and food is little expensive at beach but you get drinks, ice creams and snacks when cross the road opposite to beach in the shop. Nice beach to spend a day with friends and family.

I love going to the perch for the food and the view!! Staff are always super friendly and helpful! Last time I was there we had Charlotte looking after us and as always offered an excellent customer service experience.

Great service, fresh cooked food and love that they offer roasts in winter season and hand stretched pizzas in summer season, also offer cakes, cake bar, 99p ice cream and right on the beach what’s not to love!

An excellent experience 😀 We booked a table as it is always busy. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly man who directed us towards the correct seating area. Our waitress was Dionne who was really friendly and attentive and was able to talk in detail about the menu. This was really helpful as my wife is indecisive and I am a little particular. The recommendation she made for my wife (Mojo Chicken Burger) was excellent and was enjoyed immensely. I was a little disappointed that I was unable to order a steak cooked anything less than medium-well, but was very grateful to Dionne for checking with the kitchen team. I ordered the beach burger and while it was tasty, I was a disappointed that the burger was over-cooked. Not to the point of being unpleasant, and certainly not worth complaining about, but a lost opportunity. Overall, it was a lovely restaurant with excellent service and tasty food.

Everything +/- norms, but a lot of fuss. This is clearly one institution. Pizza is expensive and not good. It's good that there is ice cream for children. There is a children's playground, it's very good, a skatedrome, an amazing "sauna" device, a lot of space for little connoisseurs of bicycle races. There is parking and there is a parking space. In general, the impression is very good.

I visited last week and enjoyed some delicious American waffles with bacon for breakfast! 😍 Such a lovely spacious restaurant, delicious food, dog friendly, amazing beach views and welcoming staff - special mention to Lucie who was so accommodating, smiley and friendly! I will definitely be back - Thankyou!!

We ate here twice during our recent stay in Lancing. The pizzas were really good both in the restaurant and as a takeaway on the beach...we shared 2 between 3 of us it would have been nice to have some other small plates on the menu (buns/sandwiches) but the food and the whole place was great not forgetting the cakes and the icecreams.

We visited The Perch at Lancing Beach on Saturday evening, it wasn’t too busy but a pleasant buzz around the place and the staff were attentive. We were warmly greeted and the easy and professional manner continued through out our stay. We ordered pizzas, which were excellent puffy crusts thin based with plenty of good toppings. They came quickly and went just as quick! Our servers gave friendly and helpful advice about the food and drink when asked, and Dionne nailed it when she suggested we have the Brownie for dessert. Possibly the best I’ve had. Thank you the Perch. You’re doing it right.

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely breakfast here today! Can’t ever go wrong with the food here. Staff are so lovely and smiley. We had Charlotte serving us and she was fab, even with it being super busy, she couldn’t do enough for us! We will be back again and again😊

Visited the perch this week and had the most amazing breakfast. The sea view made it even better 😍 Sophie served us and was highly attentive. Would highly recommend and will be returning to try the pizza one evening!

Decided to enjoy a pizza on the beach from the perch. We ordered our pizza and waited outside for our number to be called. It was a very busy evening and we were told it would take 20 minutes. After a while we noticed they had skipped our number in the ticketing system. We continued to wait for a few orders as we thought as we ordered a gluten free option it may be taking longer. However after a while we asked staff and it turned out their ticketing system may have missed us or had blown away in the wind. It has happened to several other people. They apologised and we continued to wait. We ended up getting the pizza after 15 more people were served that had ordered after us. However the pizza was rushed, was still doughy and falling apart. We took it inside and did get a full refund and they also refunded our drink. However we ended up having to go home and cook for a hungry toddler.

Nice spot but needs a little more training staff wise The menus of out side should be give inside also.

Great service on a busy hot Sunday morning!!

Wow. An absolute brilliant lunch. We visited a year ago and it was good then, but today’s visit has levelled up; 1kg of Mussels and fries and the Sticky Asian Salmon were incredible. The salmon especially was perfect with a spot-on internal cook - not dry and really moist. The accompanying bowl of seeds, dressing and salad and brilliant green fresh avocado was beyond refreshing. The Moules; every mussel was open and not one was empty; rare and so easy to get wrong. But not this. With a wedge of ciabatta to soak up the creamy, bacon and parsley goodness. Our sever was lovely (Dione) and when asked about the kitchen mentioned that Lee the chef and his team worked hard in the background - absolute testimony to that diligence that on a Monday in the sunshine, made our day perfect with a spot-on lunch. Waited a while for our pizza but it was no problem, it was busy and the lady serving apologised for the wait. We just waited in the sunshine on the ample seating outside. Lovely place

Nice enough place. Nor a 5 stars cos it gets too crowded, the menu is limited, the service is patchy as you expect on the beach.

North Lancing Primary enjoyed a lunch for 28 people this week. The food was excellent and all rolled out quickly and efficiently. It was delicious and all perfectly cooked. The staff were helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and thoroughly dnjoyed by all. Thank you! We will definitely be coming again!

I had the pleasure of dining at Perch on Lancing Beach. Nestled right on the beach, the ambiance was perfect, with stunning sea views and the soothing sound of waves creating a relaxing backdrop. The food was tasty, each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, making sure our needs were met with a smile. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. The service was prompt without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace.
