Perch on Lancing Beach in Adur

This is a really nice place in terms of ambience, but if you're disabled it's up a little rise from the green beyond the parking lot. The staff are really lovely, efficient, nice, helpful, really, really helpful. But oh, the food. Oh dear. I had a burger, the meat was tough and weird, the chips were like Mac chips but cold and chewy. We had Mr Whippy ice cream with a Flake which is nice but a lot of chemicals. Overall, it WAS quite cheap, but not cafe cheap, and average for restaurants with better food. Make your own chips and get in some decent ice cream. I'd have been happy to pay a bit more.

Great place for your mid walk drink

Myself and 4 friends came for a bacon roll and a cup of tea / coffee ..All ordered on one card .....we waited directly outside the entrance due to dogs and a smoking man ... Each bacon roll was delivered every ten minutes and the beverages never arrived ..... They implied that all orders had been delivered , but no response ... Absolute rubbish ...... This place is a victim of its own success ....

This was our forth visit, having been for afternoon drinks, a brunch and a lunch previously. Always a good experience. Friendly and efficient staff, welcoming to our dog and a warm atmosphere as well as a tasty lunch (2 Korean chicken burgers, 1 fish and chips). Good sized portions. Such a lovely spot to enjoy a sudden shock day of sunshine with the sun streaming in through the large windows from across the sea. My only very small complaint is that the cutlery is of a very basic/cheap type and feels a bit rough around the edges, but I guess you probably find it "disappears"!

We had a most pleasurable afternoon at the Perch and enjoyed the Steak Sandwich and a glass of beer. The whole experience was relaxed with fantastic food, Great seaside views and attentive service. We will certainly be back. Many Thanks Kevin Lade

The food is good, the portions plentiful and the staff are friendly. Shame about all the dogs. It's like the kennel club in there.

Had a lovely meal here. Nothing was too much trouble, and Dionne went above and beyond for my son, who has allergies, to get him a dessert he could eat. I was very impressed with the service and food. Will definitely be coming back soon.

We booked a table at the Perch on the beach in Lancing with a fabulous view over the sea. Charlotte, our waitress was so lovely and attentive and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The menu is certainly interesting and I had the most fabulous falafel salad. The atmosphere was buzzy.

Keep an eye open for the birds at the back. Go feed them. They are super friendly.

Plenty of parking and a seaside walk added to our good feeling about lunch at Perch. The service was absolutely fabulous and the staff seemed genuinely happy to work there. The food was pleasant and there was nothing wrong with it but didn't blow us away enough for a fifth star. Varied menu too. Fast turnaround and no hassling to vacate a table. In summary, a very peasant way to spend a couple of hours with friends.

Delicious food and friendly, attentive service. Dionne, our server, was great and the whole experience was very enjoyable - we'll definitely be back. I also love how dog-friendly the place is.

The nicest lunch-out we've had in yonks! Such a lovely welcome, the place was buzzing (glad we'd booked), the food was fantastic, and Dionne looked after us brilliantly; nothing was too much trouble. Although we live 30 miles away, we are already planning our next visit. Lancing, I hope you realise how lucky you are to have this gem perched on your beach.

Two (both!) ladies toilets out of order -- how is that OK when this place is always very busy, particularly at the weekend. I waited 20 minutes as the only facility available for women was the disabled toilet. Yes, there are cubicles in the Gents but none of the other women, including myself, wanted to use them.

Fabulous tasty hot breakfast. Booked our table 9:30. Lovely coffee. I enjoyed smashed avocado 🥑 on toast with juicy mushrooms, cooked tomatoes 🍅.

Lovely seafront cafe/restaurant with easy access by car, foot, cycle & only about 10 minutes walk from Lancing railway station. The food is consistently good along with the service. Dogs are welcome.

Visited today for Sunday Sharing Roast as our experience last year was good. Waited at least 30 mins but felt if food freshly prepared should be worth the wait. Today our food was barely warm including gravy, limited veg and sharing meat. Looked a mess on the wooden board. So disappointed, paid but left no tip.Will not be returning for dinner.

Great menu that has expanded over last few years, with something for everyone. Great for breakfast, brunch or lunch or cake and coffee in the day. The home made sponge cakes are excellent. Great service. Knocked off 1 star as it's quite loud, but really just the sign of a thriving business. Window tables are best on a sunny windy day to watch kite surfing, wind surfers etc. Highly recomnded beach front eatery.

On first impressions with so many people and dogs on a very busy Saturday lunch, you think how would they keep things organised but service was efficient, portions good and staff nice. Perfect!

We stopped for breakfast on Boxing day, and was very busy as to be expected, a very lively atmosphere. The food was tasty but for a guy who enjoys his food, it was a small portion and really didn't fill me at all. But the real highlight of the visit was the staff, they were very attentive, always looking for ways to make the visit more of an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. Special thanks must go to Dione, who really took care of us. The entire time we was there she did not stop looking for who needed help. Apologies if you read this and I've spelt your name wrong.😁

I love Perch (long-term visitor, recommended all three Perch's to many) but this morning's visit left a sour taste in my mouth - literally. Ordered for myself and two 'Fruity Waffles' (no menu description) for the kids with coffees and drinks. When they arrived, there was a dollop of greek yohurt on each. I originally thought it was ricotta but it doesn't really matter, my (irrational) toddler wasn't going to touch any of it. I politely explained and asked if it was possible to get a plain waffle for him to chew on. The team member said 'it says on the menu what it is' (it absolutely doesn't - if it did there would be no issue) - and that she'd have to charge me extra. I'm sorry - what!? For the sake of a happy customer, a fed kid and a £30+ bill you can't spare a waffle costing, say, 50p all-in? I shrugged and said don't worry. Surely the aim is to make customers feel valued, full up and happy, not embarrassed (me) and hungry (him). I'm sure this won't affect business one iota, and I'm sure we'll be back but this wasn't the Perch I like so much.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. I’ve had breakfast many times, even festive afternoon tea but first time for the sharing platter roast, wil most definitely be going again, really great roast.

My wife and I attended this year’s special Christmas dinner event on the 13th December. Hannah and the team were extremely welcoming and helpful, the service as always was impeccable and the food was delicious! The restaurant was fully booked with a great atmosphere - I highly recommend visiting The Perch (not just at Christmas) as it is always excellent!

The service was wonderful and my choice of sticky asian salmon salad was excellent. Generous, tasty , fresh and so delicious..I haven't stopped talking about it since..My husband immediately was envious of my choice but he still enjoyed his burger. Brunch to celebrate D's birthday. Worth the short drive from Shoreham. D opted for the Posh Brunch (smoked salmon, poached eggs, grilled toms and hollandaise), me? The Beach Burger? Ah you think you know me too well! Instead the Korean Fried Chicken Burger (double-fried chick thigh, kimchi slaw and sticky chilli sauce). Both were spot-on! Prosecco sparkles to help the celebration. They do a Christmas menu...I'm VERY tempted...

I really don't write many reviews but I felt compelled to write one for The Perch because it involves....a pot of tea. If you can't get a pot of tea right in the UK... what can you get right? One bag per pot of lukewarm water; a pot that was meant for two, that also cost almost £4. That wasn't the worst bit, when we asked for an extra bag the waitress informed me that she would have to charge for it. Being denied an extra bag when one bag per tea is standard, I then asked how much for the extra bag? Wait for it.....£1.99?! No thanks. I know we are on the cusp of world war three but I'd like to enjoy a cup of tea at a local business before we get nuked. My advice; get yourself a thermos and sit on the beach as the perch is offering nothing but a dry seat and a view you can get for free.

A gorgeous setting. It gets very busy in the summer, but is equally lovely in the winter where you can watch the sea from the warmth of an inside table!

I just wanted to shared our experience on Sunday 10/11/24. We choose this venue as we are local, and often enjoy having lunch here. This weekend we celebrated a family members birthday with 18 people including children. The food is usually pretty good but on Sunday it was excellent! The Sunday sharing roast plate was not only hot and delicious but of a generous amount. The best part of our visit was the relaxed atmosphere and the professional amicable attitude of staff! Not only did they provide crayons and colouring sheets for the children, but were extremely helpful accommodating and served everyone with a friendly smile. The front of house and front line service staff appeared to be happy to engaged in banter and chat with our group despite being extremely busy on a fully booked afternoon. Thank you Mark, Erica, Lousie for making our visit an extra special occasion. Much appreciated:) Looking forward to seeing you all on our next visit.

Just had a lovely fry up breakfast with a "cafe con leche" here. We had some seats by the window overlooking the beach. The staff and food was lovely. If you're in the area, we highly recommend visiting.

Poor quality food, not very dog friendly, i had my small chihuahua on my lap and was told to put her on the floor, she’s and elderly frail dog. the chips were overcooked and my wife could not eat them. i mentioned this when paying the bill and there attitude was we will take the service charge off the bill. I have an issue with that comment. I pay a premium to eat out and i do not expect to be treated this way as if by removing the service charge that was applied automatically without my consent was some kind of compensation. I would not entertain ever going back. poor food, poor attitude. i personally think that Gratuity shouldn’t automatically be added wherever you eat and i only tip if its not added to my bill automatically and the service is excellent. i would have received a better service at McDonalds STOP AUTOMATICALLY ADDING GRATUITY TO ALL BILLS!!!. We need to stop this as why are we the customer paying to top up there low wages.

Delicious Sticky Salmon bowl and even though there is scaffolding for building works right now, there are still unending sea views. Perfect spot for a healthy lunch after a sauna. Staff were smiley and attentive and the loos are clean.

I had almost given up on a decent Sunday roast not cooked at home, but our visit to Perch has given me hope! By FAR the best sunday roast I have ever had in a restaurant, lovely service, food was excellent with moist, tender meat and plenty of vegetables and gravy for everyone. It's nice clean and tidy here. Can be super busy during good weather as you'd expect given it's location on the beach front. I've only eaten a few times here but each time it's been great food. And the drinks good. No issues with either. My favourite so far was the breakfast ( brunch I think it may have been called). That was delicious. Really good quality sausages and bacon. It makes a breakfast stand out from some others. Service has always been spot on! And the atmosphere changes with the weather , which is kinda what you want from a seafront eatery isn't it?

Not really impressed with the menu

We came as a large group for the sharing roasts and had a lovely time! We’ve recently found out our daughter is allergic to peanuts, sesame seeds and mustard, Charlotte was so amazing and reassuring checking everything for her. She definitely took any stress we had away about eating out with allergies! Lovely atmosphere and all other staff members we came across were lovely too.

What a brilliant idea serving a roast from 4pm onwards, when most other places have either run out or finished serving... huge portions with 3 meats and a variety of vegetables etc. will be returning regularly...

I have been coming to the Perch for a few years now enjoying their amazing coffees and lunches. Just had my first roast dinner here and by far the best roast I’ve had (sorry mum) Charlotte was our waitress and was very polite . I highly recommend the Perch. I will definitely be coming back . Thank you to all the team at the Perch.

Swung by for a takeaway fish and chips, which we enjoyed outside on the seafront seating. Hands down the least greasy fish and chips I’ve ever had, obviously using high-quality ingredients and cooked properly. The chips weren’t traditional “chip shop” chips, which I wouldn’t have chosen normally but nonetheless they were great. Kid friendly. Warm and welcoming staff. The restaurant was crazy busy, however they had plenty of staff on so the service kept up with demand. It was only a flying visit, however, I will certainly be returning in the future to properly dining in.

Breakfast got off to a great start with a table for 2 that seated 4 on beach view window ! As breakfast was a mini celebration this was great - you’re asked what the occasion maybe when booking so it was either serendipity or really good customer service. First visit so wasn’t quite prepared for such a busy noisy place but we soon got in the flow. Reasons for its popularity are clear: fantastic welcome & serving staff, great happy atmosphere (all waiting staff sang happy birthday to a little girl when we were there which was charming) and as well as all that : fantastic food, coffee and the best mimosa ever voted by my daughter. Would happily return and work my way through the delicious breakfast menu - thank you Perch ! 10/10 5 🌟 just one thing : I wear hearingaids which amplify everything so I found it impossible to hear my daughter without putting my knife & fork down and cupping my ears (impossible with such delicious food on the table) so it’s not the place for a quiet talk at busy times. Would not put me off returning - but for anyone wearing aids or hard of hearing will struggle.

Love this place great location food and service

Unfortunately we didn't book and ended up outside with an inferior menu. It was raining, windy and cold. I would come again as inside was inviting and the menu looked good.

The Perch is a nice dining venue, being on the beach, but the prices are now too high. We had a sharing Sunday lunch which was substantial in quantity but, for me, too expensive (£39) and £15 for a pint of lager and gin & tonic is not really reasonable. The beef was too tough to eat. Also, not for the first time, they had run out of wine glasses and we had to wait for two to be washed. No problems with the service, but we won’t go back.

Great place with a great location

The Perch is right on the seafront, and the only place around, so I expected the food to be expensive and small portions. How wrong I was. We had two fry ups (full English breakfast) and it was only £12 (Oct 2024), it was a really good sized portion, and everything was perfectly cooked and very good quality. The staff were absolutely lovely, really polite, friendly and smiley. What a find, we will definitely eat there again.

Weather outside was awful with short sharp showers so atmosphere was quiet in the perch. Staff were great and so was the food .
