Pequeño Burro in Shropshire

I wish we'd visited this place sooner! The food was fabulous! It tasted so fresh and delicious! They have loads of great options for both carnivores and vegans alike. There's more seating upstairs, so even if it looks busy it's still worth checking out. They also have very spacious baby changing facilities in the toilet on the top floor, but the stairs are steep (it's an old building) so be careful.

Really great little Mexican cantina. Quick and friendly service, plenty of choice, and delicious food.

Great little restaurant. We went for lunch, ordered a couple of a Pacificos for only £4.50, hard tacos and the fried jalapenos. Everything delicious. The lady also brought our dog some biscuits, so 5 stars from the pooch, too

Has a description on the website that says doesn’t accept reservation but kicked my friends and I out because the table had apparently been reserved for someone. Terrible customer service overall, terrible food, the cups given to us were extremely dirty.

The lady that attended to us was bitter, rude and combative. She yelled at my friends and i for closing the blinds when the light coming in hurt our eyes. she was mad at us for spending “too much time in her restaurant”, claiming that we were on a reserved table, even though we had paid for our food upfront and in one of the other reviews it stated that the restaurant did not accept reservations. she also yelled at us for not liking the food and requesting to return our drinks, even though we asked if we could return our drinks in exchange for different ones after barely touching them and were declined. the food in question came cold and genuinely tasted like it was put together by a 7 year old who has no ties to mexico whatsoever. all of our “dishes” remained almost completely intact. we hesitated to complain to the staff there because we were nervous and didn’t want to come off as fussy. but the drinks were underwhelming and falsely advertised and the glasses in which they arrived were dirty. the overall setup of the restaurant was shabby and the ambiance was off-putting. i struggle to find anything good to report about my visit here. the highlight of my experience was leaving and i wish any of this was an exaggeration. do NOT go to this restaurant unless you wish to receive abysmal food and services edit - the lady that is presumably a manager is claiming that we staged our visit there and made noise disturbing other customers - as if we had nothing better to do than spend our saturday afternoon in that supposed restaurant. we were quiet; the store was empty besides us (as shown in the photos) and we can see why…

The person serving my friends was quite aggressive, rude and decided to scream at us for adjusting the blinds which was hurting our eyes and getting upset that we didn’t eat our food even though it was absolutely HORRIBLE. Please endeavor to work on the quality of your food and the quality of the service and make sure to prioritize customer satisfaction.

Extremely poor service, the owner was screaming at me and my friends for not eating our food (which was horrible btw) which she claimed was “loved by all”. What type of business scolds customers for not eating the good after they’ve paid? And for that we were kicked out of the store, despite the fact that we didn’t even request a refund for the food. Horrible service will never be returning! Also we are in and were not given plates with our food even though we ate in. Response to reply: To say “staged” is insane… we don’t know you and we don’t live in Shrewsbury. For the sake of your failing business endeavour to prioritise customer service. Ps we were told to go upstairs and we’re taking pictures of ourselves not your dirty shop! Also we didn’t make any noises and no one came into the store bc your business is a flop!

Toasted burrito was very filling & the Churros are amazing! Very authentic

It’s such a cute little restaurant. the staff are brilliant, I don’t know much about the different Burrito fillings but they were so knowledgable and patient with me. The food was lovley and very reasonable priced, would definitely recommend. It’s a shame I don’t live closer or I would be coming here all the time!

Wish I'd tried here sooner. Live in Shrewsbury but never tried this little gem. Will definitely be back. A warm welcome from attentive and friendly staff. Food fresh, hot, prepared and presented beautifully. The pulled pork burrito, which I was able to customise with their own recipe pineapple salsa is not to be missed.

We go weekly for dinner to this tiny place with a big ambiance. Pequeño Burro is a great place that has the best Mexican food we've encountered in the UK. Fresh, flavorful and simple with a great selection of Mexican beers, it's perfect. It's the place to go.

Really disappointed with this place. The new menu is confusing and seems to offer less value than the previous one. Food quality is not good. It's not hot and very likely microwaved (you could hear it constantly going off in the background). The cheese in my quesadillas wasn't even melted yet. And we waited quite a while for our food to be ready. I won't be coming back.

The only authentic thing about this restaurant is the microwave which I heard repeatedly go off. This bbq pork is clearly microwaved from plastic packaging, the taco shells tasted awful and soggy fresh out the microwave. No flavour it's just all old el paso microwaved mush, it was edible. I could hear the sauces being emptied out the bottles. If their microwave broke this place would be out of buisness , I feel very ripped off and as a birthday treat it's definitely put a dampener on my day ! I did eat everything as I hadn't eaten since yesterday and as I said it's just about edible! The only reason why I have two stars is cause the cocktail was lovely and the place looks super cute. You need to do better, as Gordon ramsay has once said you know your in trouble when you hear a microwave ping!

Had some beautiful soft shell tacos 😍 and wonderful , helpful staff that took their time explaining the menu to me and not only let my pup inside but gave him some water . 10/10 xx

There aren’t enough positive adjectives in the English language to describe this restaurant. The food is so flavourful and the staff are so welcoming. It’s a lovely relaxed atmosphere here. Amazing value for money. I will always keep coming back!!

We tried this place for the first time and it was lovely. We had the chicken and beef burrito with cheesy nachos which were made quickly and really tasty. The staff were polite, we will be back to try more :)

We tried this place as we were staying in the area, we had planned to go to mexicano but went after 5pm when it should have opened but it didn't, so we found this place definitely not disappointed, the staff were very polite and the food was amazing , eeasonable prices will definitely be back when next in the area

I was meeting my friends outside and one lady that worked there started videoing us accusing us of buying alcohol and when we asked her to not film us she did not stop which is against the law, first of all we are underage and underage drinking is not acceptable especially in a public environment so we all felt quite uncomfortable with it so we decided to have a word but she wasn’t listening to us almost like she didn’t care how we felt, when we where lingering further away from the shop she kept on looking at us so we decided to go in but the lady told us that they were closed but then a few minutes later we saw people go in, so she was lying and filming all at the same time. DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR FROM STAFF!!

Response to reply: this was posted at 12:00pm when you just has opened and we sat down and was greeted instantly by a rude member of staff, we hadn’t been drinking, thank you very much 🤔 and we came in for food, if the response doesn’t prove the above, what will 😂

We love Mexican food so tried here for the first time for a birthday family meal. All the food was beautifully prepared and tasted very authentic. The salsa and guacamole were homemade and extremely fresh tasting. Would thoroughly recommend it to friends and family.

Really tasty food. We had the quesadilla, tacos al pastor and loaded nachos. All were tasty and quickly served.

I was apprehensive about trying this place after reading the bad reviews (because they’re the ones you read) but I’m glad I saw past them. My wife and I like to eat at small independent places and wanted to try somewhere new. We ate in and although it was small inside it was a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly in contrast to other reviews. Food was great, and when I say great it was fantastic, burrito was full of flavour and just the right amount of heat. One of the reviews I read mentioned them serving cheap nachos, I was expecting supermarket version of Doritos but we were served what I can only describe as authentic Mexican tortilla “chips”. My only criticism our food wasn’t served on plates but as they serve Mexican “street food” I get the reason behind it. Burritos wrapped in foil and a paper wrapper as tradition and nachos in their own cardboard box were fine by us. We both said we will go again as it would be a good place to grab food whilst meeting friends in town, the lunch deals caught our eye. Breakfast burrito looks like a winner, can’t wait to give it a go as well as the pulled pork in the toasted bun. Salivating at the thought of it.

Stumbled across this little gem and so happy we did. Mixed bean burrito and a chicken dish with nachos were both perfect. Just spicy enough and genuinely tasty. Good honest food you don't get too often now and so reasonable. Plus Frida (Kahlo) the impeccably behaved dog added an extra warm welcome. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Burrito was nice - maybe could have used more vegetables. Nicely put together though, but maybe lacking some flavour. Vegan alternative to meat was beans, but would have probably been a bigger fan if there was a jackfruit substitute, or something along those lines Appreciated that the loaded nachos were able to be made vegan. They were tasty. Found it odd that there was a female toilet but no male - was told to go across to the market. Seems like it could just be a unisex toilet for simplicity?

Horrible customer service. Items were missing from our order and instead of sending them to us, they initially lied and said that we had the items. Then they said that we didn't order the items. Then they admitted that we we're not sent them but refused to refund us. 0/5. The food that we did receive was cold bland and unsuitable for human consumption. Only purchase from here if you want to add items to your compost heap.

Menu and outside looked nice, but we went in and were not really welcomed by the staff. Asked if we could sit upstairs if they had space for two people and it was a casual yeah ok. But we went up to a tiny room, boxes piled up on one table and the store cupboard open into the room, and the only other table was dirty with leftover food. It felt really not welcoming and put us off so we left unfortunately.

Great little restaurant, we sat in and had a meal with dessert. Staff are super friendly & food was great :)

My daughter and I discovered this place today. Dont know how we've passed it by for so long. The staff were very friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and very well priced. Will definitely become regulars here. Can not say enough positive things about Pequeno Burro. Hope this place is very successful.

This place is just across the road from my work and the smell is incredible! I had the soft shell taco's and they were so tasty. The pulled pork is mouthwatering. The Churros were perfect. Quick and friendly service!

TERRIBLE customer service. I believe it is part of Darwins kitchen as that is who i spoke to on the phone. I was given the wrong item of food as they 'assumed' it was a burrito because the item before that on my order was a burrito. if the item i had ordered was no longer available you should of called me and informed me instead of blaming shrewsbury eats and lieing to me and fobbing me off on the phone call. And also giving me a lesser value item of food which wasnt ordered!

Looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food? Well this place will give you neither of those. Happy if it still tastes good? Try somewhere else. I'm utterly convinced that nobody who prepared the food I've just eaten has even so much as looked at a colouring book of Mexico. The salsa had the cheap sugary flavour you get when it comes out of a bottle, the guacamole was also that nasty runny stuff you buy in bottles from old el paso. The BBQ pulled pork had that unpleasant baked bean flavour you get from those vac packed microwave pulled pork meals from supermarkets. Tortilla chips clearly the cheapest ones you can get. I would genuinely love to know how you made a salsa picante so bland, so without taste, so incredibly sad. How did you butcher something so incredibly simple. The lack of care that went into the ingredients and preparation of this is embarrassing.
