Lovely lunch time meal. Chef was very accommodating, bar staff friendly and service was fantastic. Food was hot, good portion size, would defiantly come again. Relaxing, calm atmosphere on a Wednesday lunch time.

Took 40 minutes to get food at the table after ordering on th website.atmosphere was terrible and not many staff about.want staff were there were moving pool tables and tables around not great in a restaurant and environment and hike your own eventually eating and relaxing.

My experience was really bad we waited an hour for starters which we never got we ended up cancelling the whole order and getting a refund and left without eating anything.

We booked a table as a group of 4 for food and drinks from 8pm. When we arrived the establishment was pretty empty which I found strange for a Saturday evening. We ordered food at the bar which took over 30 minutes to arrive at our table. The pastry on the chicken pie was like concrete, we struggled to get our knives and forks through it, cheeseburger came out warm and by the time half was eaten, the other half was cold, mixed grills were very bland with hardly any taste. Staff were very friendly, however the atmosphere was dead. Don’t think I’ll be booking at this establishment again in the future.

Visited over the weekend with friend's. Good oub grub with friendly and helpful staff. Be back again soon 👍

Lovely servers/bar staff, but can't run a pub/restaurant. We were told they had ran out of certain dishes/sides but they arrived at the table. Toilets were unsanitary. Ordered a steak to find it had been cut down the centre (only reason to do this is to check it's cooked) if a chef doesn't know when a steak is cooked to specification, they shouldn't be a chef!

I didn't want to put any stars but I couldn't leave a review if I didn't. Absolutely awful. Booked and told I was not on the list. They got us a table, they didn't inform us carvery was off until we went to order. We only booked for carvery for mothers day and ended up walking out as saw nobody eating any food and the pub was packed. Staff awful no communication no apology saying why we were not on the list, when I showed them 3 lots of proof of my booking. Queued at bar for over ten mins to be told carvery not available and as both my mum and mother in law only wanted carvery we left. We ended up at Tesco buying food to do our own Sunday carvery which was delicious and a hell of alot cheaper than if we had stayed at the peppermill. We will never return as this is not the only bad experience we have had in that pup. Needs a complete over hall or closing down.

We went the pepper mill last week for the carvery and half the carvery wasn't available and nobody to put serve you the meat or chicken on your plate for you and we waited for a good 5 minutes before a chap come never again sorry

Went for Mother’s Day, staff were amazing, very short staffed to the point where the carvery was taken off, but off the menu food was lovely. Beautiful touches on the table with pink roses for mums on there. Really thoughtful gesture. Shame about the carvery but if staff aren’t able to keep up with it due to lack of staff, it’s understandable. Thank you to staff that were on. An experience that I won’t forget. Would go back again to give them another chance. Staff again were friendly kind and very patient with some tricky customers.

Absolutely Disgusting booked for carvery at 6,00pm when we got there they said there was no carvery but no one had been in touch with my son and he had left his phone number it was booked in February because there was a party of us for mother's day and for a 83rd birthday we ordered cheesy garlic bread and that didn't come out until we had our meal and they didn't come out until 1hr and 45min and the arrogant of one of your chef's name Millie,my grandson ordered popping chicken with barbeque sauce he had told them when he ordered to put the sauce in a dish on the side when it came it was covered all over over as he was sharing with his girlfriend and she doesn't like it they took it back when they bought it back they must of thought he wouldn't notice it had been just turned over so sent it back again the chef came out and arrogantly said no she would not do it again so disappointed with it all they said,they had no steak no burgers no fish left so wasn't much choice at all, very disappointing night i would never come there again,

Booked for Mothers Day using the automated booking service. I received my text confirmation and then a reminder on the saturday before Mothers Day to confirm we were still going which i replied to. We got there On sunday to the usual main entrance which we found to be bolted shut (which is also a fire exit). Managed to get in through the patio doors to be told they were fully booked and not even acknowledged my booking. What is the purpose of having an automated booking service if its not going to be listened to? Myself, wife, mother and 4 year old Son were then refused a table and had nowhere to go on Mothers day. Staff were very unprofessional and it felt like they were passing the buck. Not the first issue weve had in the peppermill but it will be the last.

Would not recommend service was shocking chef refused to replace starter which was chicken with BBQ sauce but asked for sauce to be put in bowl on the side instead of over the chicken was sent back and was wiped off and turned over so was sent back again then refused to replace by the chef named MILLIE. We will never return.

No carvery on mothers day so ordered from menu they took order and money, then told us hour and half later no bugers then when asked for refund told I couldn't get my deposit back had to ring for that or email noone has picked up phone or replied to the emails

We came for Mother’s Day and the carvery was then closed after we ordered. We then had trouble getting a refund where the staff tried to charge me extra. After that was resolved we then waited an hour and a half for the mains to come after been in the pub for 3hrs we had to then get a refund for the desserts

Absolutely disgusting. Booked for 6pm for a carvery but they hadn't informed us that something had broken so they couldn't serve carverys. So ordered other food. So sides for a starter, which came out after I'd eaten my main meal. So had it for dessert. Not funny. The chef Milly was not nice. My nephew ordered popping chicken for starter with barbecue sauce on the side because his girlfriend doesn't like it and they were sharing. But when it came it was covered in barbecue sauce. So he sent it back. 10mins later it came out again only to find they had just turned it over. DISGUSTING. Then the chef Milly came out and refused to do it again. She was so arrogant. 1hour and 45 mins before the first starter started to arrive. It was way after that that the other starter came out. Mine after my main meal. I have never been somewhere so horrible. Will never go there again. And would not recommend it to anyone. No steaks, No fish , No Burgers, No vanilla ice cream left.

Absolutely shocking for mothers day, the carvery didn't even come out till near enough 1pm, and even then the beef wasn't ready, the stuffing and Yorkshires didn't look cooked at all, waited ages for gravy and spoons, you'd think for mothers day you'd of been ready? And then saying you weren't serving fish, but has fish on the set menu, this is the 2nd time we've come back under new management, the 1st time we walked out. Definitely won't be coming back after this. Having worked here before I definitely say the standards have got even worse than when Jon was manager.

Absolutely disgusting... Carvery shut down and lying to people telling them enough people werent having it.. queues for over half an hour for it though. My nan uses 2 crutches didnt even get offered a chair.. got it and it was freezing. All my table offered a refund except me because i didnt takd a reciept. Well done for ruining mothers day, manager wouldnt even come face anybody about the complaints just hid in the office.. never again will i be back. Feel sorry for your service staff who are taking the brunt of your shit management.

went today for Mother’s day carvery, disappointed that the carvery was off but it was explained to us why. food was really nice and we had lights on the table and my mum was given a soap flower. kids loved the art and crafts too.

Worst mothers day meal ever ... half the food on the menu was off because they hadn't got it .. food was not hot.. poor infact.. not value for money at all ... toilets were a disgace .. some one had wiped poo down the wall and it had obviously been there for some time as it had dried on .... would never go back horrible place.. don't bother

Absolutely terrible from start to finish! We were a party of 14 celebrating mothers day and a birthday and looking forward to our carvery. Arrived at 6pm to be told there was no carvery on so then had to all choose something off the menu, there was no steaks, no fish and no burger, Absolutely crazy. The pub was almost empty so no atmosphere at all. My son ordered chicken strips and asked for bbq sauce on the side as his girlfriend doesn't like the sauce and they were sharing, it came with sauce all over so sent it back to then have it returned and all they had done was turn the chicken over to hide it!! He took it back again and the chef flatly refused to do a fresh one, how disgusting considering they were trying to fool us it was their error! All the food came out at different times and the side orders came out after we had finished our mains. I asked for the birthday cake to come out but the girl came out and asked if we wanted the cake in the box so everyone heard, my brother said well done as it was supposed to be a surprise. She then flatly refused to serve us and refused to bring the cake. I had to get the cake and sort it myself, Absolutely shocking service and rude too. Felt sorry for the waiting on staff as it's not their fault. Would not recommend this place at all, took the fun out of our mothers day, more than disappointed 😞!!

Staff were extremely friendly and attentive and food was speedy and delicious. Kids area was clean and had loads to do inside of it, even a play area outside. Drinks were refreshing and a good price, so will be deffo going back especially with friends and family.

Pub is a lot cleaner. Bit of a long wait for food despite not many in, was told only one chef on when asked about the delay. I had chicken tekka and although nice and tasty the chicken was a bit tough. Plates were lovely and hot as well. Not bad though and will go back

Walked in found a table, not one member of staff said hello. Ordered our food via the QR code which was fairly easy to do. Drinks arrived within 5 mins however after a 45min wait for our meals I tried to get the attention of 2 members of staff behind the bar deep in conversation with no luck both ignored me. Fortunately a young lady was leaving the kitchen so I told her we'd been waiting 45 mins, she said she would go and check. A few mins later she returned to say it was just being plated up. One meal arrived 2 still missing ...we were told there had been an incident in the kitchen and the other 2 meals would be a further 5 mins. The food was ok, portions on the small side. Didn't dare order desserts even though we had already picked. Gutted. Dread to think how long the wait is when they are busy. No one asked how our meals were or said sorry. Didn't even acknowledge we were leaving. Won't be returning

Fantastic pub best pub in stoke, food and drink was amazing and the staff were the best

The atmosphere is brilliant, the service is fantastic and extremely fast. It was busy, and I had my food in 15 minutes. Not only that, the food was delicious, and the waitress who served me was so bubbly and wonderful. All the bar staff were so helpful with everything, cutlery, sauces, etc.The waitress also offered me some desserts, and I just couldn’t resist. I had to have the rocky road sundae, and my partner had a chocolate fudge cake. They were presented lovely, and they were delicious. I had a fabulous experience, and I can’t wait to go again!!!!

I have never left a bad review before, but due to this being the worst ‘restaurant’ I have ever visited I have had to respond On arrival we sat down to a dirty and sticky table. There was also no toilet roll in the toilets. We then went to the bar to order our food, at which time they told us certain things weren’t available, which is fine but it would have been nice to have known on arrival as we then had to choose different meals. Some meals they let us have replacement items. We then had to wait 30 minutes for one of the drinks and had to go and ask for it. The meals then came, which only half the tables food turned up, side orders missing and the promised replacement items missing. We had to go up and ask about the other half of the food, to which by the time arrived the first half had already finished theirs. One of the meals in the second lot was completely wrong and another inedible due to solid bread which can only be described as ‘microwaved’. Some sausages then came out which were forgotten came out and were completely burnt. At this point we had to say something and was offered a free meal on return which we agreed to. We then order puddings, again only half came out, the donuts were completely solid and dry. The 2 missing puddings we waited a further 50 minutes for (after asking about them several times) before we finally gave up and asked for a refund. We then asked for a complete refund instead of a return visit as you could not pay me to go back. All of this whilst staff members sat around a table in the corner socialising. May I add the place wasn’t busy at all either Avoid at all costs

Waited over an hour for food steak was massively over cooked I ordered medium rare it came very well done didn’t send it back because it took over an hour, chips where over cooked too, yet some food wasn’t cooked and that just added to the confusion either way I learned I won’t be going back so.

We've been coming here for years cus we like the Sunday carvery here, We've been coming here since the old management. We came here today and ordered a regular plate of sunday roast (as usual) and the new staff lady that was carving our food she couldn't slice the meat properly (understanding that she's new). So I got uneven slices (bites), the meat that I got looks like dogs has been chewing on it, so I asked if I could get a better slice. The lady that was carving(new staff lady) asked one of her senior staff lady who has served us multiple times(senior staff lady), said "that's it that's for medium regular plate". But normally when we came here we never had a bad cuts of meat so i know that's not true. Tried to explain to the two beautiful staff ladies but looks like they didn't gets the point...I'm not asking for big amount of food all I'm asking is to give me my money worth. P.s Room for improvement please Thank you

Small piece of beef left, no turkey.The roast potatoes were hard in the middle, only minted peas absolutely awful, no body asked if everything was ok, was going to complained but all staff having conversation so couldn't be bothered, want be going again that's for sure.

Been today for lunch with friends and Cheryl made us very welcome and the meal was lovely good service friendly staff very attentive and very clean what more can you ask for welldone.

Staff are always nice and it is a nice atmosphere just a shame you wait over an hour for food. Not sure what's happening in the kitchen if their out the back butchering the meat fresh or what but waiting over an hour for a kids chicken nuggets and chips is awful. Not coming back here. Not even like it's fine dining, food is average.

I had loaded chips with bbq pulled was lovely. Staff were all lovely really friendly helpful and approachable. We will be back soon

The worst restaurant ever . I was waiting for food 1hr 20 mins . Never been in worse place ..

Staff were lovely & pleasant. But we waited well over half an hour for our food. The mixed grill was £17 I think & it wasn't worth £10 in my opinion, dry chicken breast (more like a quail breast, steak well done, I asked for medium, gammon not too bad. (good job I've got a full set of strong teeth or else I wouldn't have been able to chew the steak or dry chicken)

I came here with my 17month old son. What a welcoming, clean and friendly environment. Clearly a close knit community which was lovely to see! Staff were warm and welcoming but Caitlin went above and beyond to rectify any issues raised (more than satisfied). I overheard what must have been the owner, say its taken 8months to get the food like this...all you're hard work has paid off. You all do amazing. Thank you for the service provided for me and my son today :)

Came here for a birthday meal and I'm not gonna lie the wait is just not worth it in the slightest. We came around 7:30 on a quiet Monday with maybe three tables worth of guests and only got the starters around 40 minutes later. The starters were fine, could be warmer if I'm honest. As I write this, an hour after arriving, I'm still waiting on mains. I feel like the staff is currently a skeleton crew in that kitchen and there are only two servers (one of whom was shaking when serving for sure). The table to twelve have had... Maybe their starter and a single main currently. I'm sorry but the food quality doesn't make up for the wait. No food is worth an hours wait in my opinion. Especially when that food is a buther. And now that mains have arrived just whilst writing this review, nearly an hour after we ordered them I'll let you know how they were. Fine, they were just fine. The chicken pie was cold enough to stick your entire finger into it without issue. The katsu burger was bland as anything, the tikka masala was apparently nice. I don't dare wait to see if desserts will take an extra hour.

Friendly staff, greeted with a smile. Brought drinks to the table which was appreciated. Chose the carvery, as usual. A little disappointed with the veg on offer but that's a personal choice. Nice atmosphere as it was quiet. Will definitely return.

Went for a carvery & it was by far the nicest we’ve had. Everything was cooked well 👌🏻 . Cauliflower cheese & cheesy leeks were a 10 10. Lovely staff, couldn’t do enough for us. Be back soon 👍

Appalling service, food took over 45 minutes to come. One employee, a young lad, was given a telling off in front of the customers and told that he can come back in in his own time and not be paid for it. The land lady was vaping behind the bar and continued to do so with putting her vape in her bra. It felt more like a youth club

Today 23rd Feb went to the Peppermill for lunch husband had off the menu I had carvery. They had a decent wine 👏👏five stars just for that my husband’s meal was great best Mac n cheese with popcorn chicken he’s had me I’m boring I had vegetarian I mean just veg no pie nothing else it was great❤️ besides the food n wine the place was spotless and warm, staff were amazing pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and wines they served. Visited today. Ordered at the bar, waited one hour and fifteen minutes for food, and was not told there would be a wait. Food arrived, and we requested starters and main courses at the same time when ordering they arrived separately. Food awful, scampi cold, baked potato (yes only a baked potato) microwaved with a few beans. Did complain but was told to send an email to head office. Other couples waited an hour and a half for food.

I don’t leave reviews as a rule especially bad ones however our experience today was not a pleasant one. We waited for 1 hr 30 mins to have a loaded fries to share. It was quiet in there and when I asked how much longer it would be she said that they were massively busy. People were complaining and asking for a refund because they needed to go and had waited so long for their food. At no point were we told that there was a wait on meals or received an apology. In reading previous reviews this appears to be common theme and unfortunately we will not be returning.

Good food and service and they even do blue light discount. The only thing is it would he better if you could upgrade your chips to loaded chips instead of having to order loaded chips as a side dish.

I don't like giving mediocre reviews but...... It may have just been a bad day.... Food was average, nothing to write home about. It is though, a chain pub, so didn't expect gourmet food. One of our party had the carvery.... Overcooked veg although more meat than Toby. The other two ordered from the menu. It wasn't full by any shot yet our food took an absolute age to arrive. Not just ours but the table next to us as well. Went to order pudding and one of our party, with a nut allergy, was refused her choice. The chef wouldn't serve it because it "may" contain nuts yet they were not mentioned in the ingredients. The Chef didn't want to take the risk..... Interesting how the customer, who knows their allergy and had eaten in another pub in the same chain, had eaten the desert before but the chef wouldn't take the risk.....

Attended a Wake here. Area was nicely sectioned off, sandwiches were plentiful and fresh. Staff were attentive and welcoming.

Kids area was filthy Ordered online. Waited 25 mins then they told me there was a 50 min wait for food and I had a little one. Refunded me whilst chatting away to friends around the bar area.

I order a burger and chips I ask for chips because I don't like the fries, I saw the woman add the chip, i also order double chips, They brought me out Fries, so I told the woman about it, she then print of a receipt that said fries on it but not the rest of the order to show me i order fries, then said she would ask who served me and would ask them, instead she want back to flirting with the people at the bar. I don't know what happened to the place but there new staff are terrible. Miss there old staff, use to be a lovely guy on the till, never had any problems with him

Friendly but relaxed atmosphere, all staff are courteous and speedy service. They offer order at table service giving you full access to the menu from a qr code. Food arrived hot and with a smile

Disappointed that all fried fish was unavailable due to a broken fryer 😢 But otherwise our meals were fine. The time it took at the bar to order food and drink, was a little long, and meals were slow to arrive. Tried the app for a second drinks order, but that also took around 15 mins to arrive. No complaints with the meals and drinks we chose, all were nice, once they did arrive. Staff were pleasant and polite, it just seemed there weren't enough, even though the pub did not seem overly busy. Overall a nice meal but the service could have been a little faster

Ordered from the app, after 20 minutes asked at the bar about our order, informed the tickets were only going to the kitchen not the bar therefore no drinks were served. Only 1 staff on serving food to the tables and trying to work the bar. After 50 mins and 2nd enquiry about our order, the Food very poor. Won't return again.

Came in for a beer and food with my missies and was shocked how the manger spoke to her staff was appalling never mind how burnt my burger was.

Went for steak night last Thursday. Had called for carvery , but apparently they are only on Sundays now. Not many people in. One young girl staff member doing everything. She was pleasant enough. The steak was black and very cool. Tinned peas were cold, chips were ok. Dire experience. Came about 2 years ago, and it was as bad then. Think I've given up now

Ordered on app took an hour and all came out wrong - staff handled it really weirdly - some being defensive and some being overly apologetic but without resolving anything. was with 4 hangry family members so it was stressful, frustrating, awkward and caused arguments. Made me want to crawl into my skin, left without eating. I feel bad, staff probs don't feel great and family are frustrated - so we're going maccies :'(

Pub very quiet and seemed reluctant to serve. When I went to the bar to order food and drink was told that they were only serving reordered food. I replied that we had prebooked a table and after checking the waitress came back and said that's fine. They however turned other people away.

Had an amazing Xmas day here food was fab and the staff were brill , there was an issue with a family that basically just wanted to ruin everyone's day shame on you !!! We all had a great time Thank-you x

Had a Christmas Day dinner booked. No food left when we were told to go up to get it. We were promised a refund plus drinks then it was retracted and they called the police to get us off the grounds with no Christmas dinner. Stuff we’re disgusting and rude and laughed in our faces

Amazing Christmas dinner, service was exceptional, such friendly welcoming staff, we will 100% be returning in the new year, the new ownership by Cheryl & Rob has turned the place around, we all can not wait to come back :) Thankyou to all your staff X

A great experience for our first Christmas dinner eating out.

Not long got back from our Christmas meal at The Pepper Mill. The service was top notch. Not only did they cater for our son who is Autistic by cooking him chicken nuggets and chips, but they did an awesome job. How they planned it all was spot on and the food was truly delicious. I couldn't eat my cheese and crackers, so brought them home. Special thanks have to go out to - Millie, who greeted us with the biggest smile and enthusiasm. Aisha, Leone, Lucy and Caitlin were the perfect hostesses. However all of the team in the kitchen, behind the bar and front of house were fantastic! It was really relaxing, fun and thoroughly enjoyable. We hope the tip we left them will go some way to treating themselves to a well earned drink. Fab! Xx

Had our Christmas meal here Starters were great but Turkey dinner was cold and over cooked cold veg even the gravy was cold my Christmas pudding was hot but one of the groups was still frozen in the middle. Can't fault the servers just ashame about main course.

I waited 35 minutes for two J20's, I waited 45 minutes for my friends and my partners meal to arrive, all of which 3/4 were the same meal. Yet mine did not arrive for a further 10 minutes after theirs by which they had finished eating. My friends soup was cold, and our burgers were dry. When my burger did arrive by prompt of me having to go to the bar to ask for my meal after already telling a waitress we were waiting, it was evident that it had been sat there cooked a while ago, and the cheese on it was taken freshly from the fridge and was not melted what so ever. Complete disregard for quality of food and customers. All of our meals were 3 cheese burgers and one soup. We waited 45 minutes..

We had a booking for 26 for the Festive Menu 3 courses there was a long wait for starters to arrive which were ok but as the food took so long to come out some people had finished before others served. We then had a wait of over an hour before the mains started to arrive at this point several of our party had left. The Turkey mains which did arrive were cold. No sides which were ordered were delivered. Because of how bad the Service was we wanted to speak to the Manager we were told she had left the premises and just given an email. No desserts were brought out so we were left feeling hungry and very disappointed. I used to use this pub regularly but will not be using or recommending again

There is too much to explain as to why I'm leaving this review. 1 star it is unfortunately. An email will be sent but I don't see much of a response when the manager would not even come out to speak to us but the chef had to!

AVOID. Turned up today (17th December) at about 2pm. It wasnt very busy because it was mid week but there was probably 7 empty separate tables with used plates and dirty glasses on. We managed to find an empty one and went to order but was told “prebooked food only today” in an unfriendly manner. So why did you let us in then? Why is there no sign on the door? Why did you watch us sit down and not say anything? It was very under staffed and such a mess! Really needs sorting out - what a shambles. AVOID.

On the evening of 14th December 2024 I joined a party of 26 for a Christmas Meal. Here’s the highlights: - Bar staff who don’t know what a wine spritzer is and can’t work the till to charge for it. - Approximately an hour wait for starters, which had shrivelled greenery on them. - No main course at 21:20 despite the booking being for 19:00. When a few members of our party went into the kitchen to investigate it was void of staff, but the food was sat on the side going cold. - No clean cutlery to eat the main courses with, or staff who could find any. - When asking to speak to the manager, the staff said and this is a literal quote “they’d legged it”. This is appalling, and I wonder if their alcohol licence would allow for them to be open with no management. Their food safety systems are non existent or they wouldn’t leave food out on the sides, and the worst is the dereliction of duty by a manager who leaves junior staff to have to deal with a bunch of angry customers. I’ve reported this matter to Stoke City Council as the licensing authority and food safety management body. Steer clear of this pub at all costs.

Second time I've been disappointed here. First was a spur of the moment, this was a advanced booked Christmas meal.

The place was dead but had to wait an hour for a maxed grill and a burger. Food was disgusting. Chicken was microwaved and rubbery and I have no idea how a medium rare steak can be dry but it was. Didn’t bother complaining because the staff were all rude!

The worst meal I’ve had in a very long time. Waited nearly 2 hours for the main meal having booked weeks in advance for a group christmas meal. When it eventually arrived, it was barely warm, dried out and pretty tasteless accompanied by overpriced drinks and a dreadful Elvis impersonator. I’ll not be coming back.

We've been to the Peppermill tonight having booked a Christmas meal for approx twenty people for 7pm and pre-ordered the food. Initially we were seated at the wrong table. The first course was not served until 7.45. Our main course had not arrived by 8.40. We were told it would be another 10 mins. At 9.05 we decided to leave as no food had been brought out, just jugs of water.

The service was quick & friendly. The food was delicious & the atmosphere was great, perfect for our family Christmas meal. Thank you Cheryl & team

Nice enjoyable evening for a social event.

I visited with my partner who is coeliac and it is usually quite difficult finding gluten free food. However they already had a gluten free menu at the tables without having to ask, and when ordering, double checked for any allergies. Great service throughout, just the small details like having conversation rather than just simple customer service while we were there. Food was lovely and service was quick with no issues, will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely host and significantly improving venue

Very poor, ordered using qr code but food and drinks did not come and found them sat at bar waiting to be taken to our table, so we ended up taking them ourselves at which point on many occasions food was cold
