Disappointing Experience – Poor Service & Missing Items Had a terrible experience at this Pepe’s Castle Bromwich branch. First, part of my order was missing, and I only realized after leaving. When I called to report it, the staff were extremely rude and refused to send the missing items, despite me having proof. I even recorded the phone conversation as evidence of their unprofessional behavior. On top of that, collecting the order itself was a nightmare—I had to wait 20 minutes, and despite several staff members being present, they just stood around staring rather than assisting customers. No one seemed interested in actually providing good service. Would not recommend this place at all. Avoid unless you want to deal with slow service, rude staff, and incomplete orders!

I am very disappointed with my recent order on 28/12/2024. I ordered a chicken rice box meal, only to find that the French fries were stale and the rice and chicken were not fresh. This is unacceptable, and I expected much better quality. I won’t be ordering again. No more ordering from here, no more regrets.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Pepe’s in Castle Bromwich on Tuesday, 22nd around 19:30. I initially tried to call but couldn’t get through, which I assumed was due to them being busy. I decided to drive down to place my order in person instead. When I arrived, there were four visible staff members: two males cooking, one male assisting them, and a woman who was on the phone, presumably taking a customer order. I patiently waited while she finished her call, expecting her to acknowledge me at some point, but she never did. After she hung up, instead of turning her attention to me, she started a conversation with the male staff member assisting the cooks. Still no acknowledgment or even a simple “I’ll be with you in a moment.” Another customer who was seated noticed this as well, and yet she completely ignored me. Even as I turned to walk out and paused, hoping for some sort of apology or explanation, she just continued her conversation with her colleague as if I wasn’t there. One of the cooks even looked over and saw me waiting, but didn’t bother to let her know that there was a customer in need of service. The complete lack of professionalism was shocking. In my opinion, the woman should be fired for her poor customer service, and the cooks need to be reminded to notify the front when customers are waiting. It’s clear that they all need updated customer service training. As someone who lives locally, I would have loved to support this place, but after such an experience, I won’t be returning. The conversation with her colleague certainly wasn’t important enough to justify keeping a customer waiting. Terrible service.

When I asked the server to let another staff smell it, he cunningly threw it away. The server didn’t even apologise for the poor service and his solution to the matter was to just offer a new meal. There was no regard to the journey spent or the atrocious smell of the product. The person taking order got no clue messed with order. When I tried to say them, the order is messed up ,rather than taking accepting their own mistake, giving instructions, I shouted and raised my voice. Ok so started off with the guy that was taking our order was mumbling and couldn’t understand a word he was saying shouldn’t be front of house! It was very cold, 2 drinks were missing and the flavour was wrong on my chicken box which I returned with the driver. The driver didn't have a clue how to follow his sat nav as he kept going to the wrong destination and the guy who I spoke to needs to learn how to do his job properly. Ordered food from this pepes, got a burrito meal and a few extra sides, the food was cold and the burrito was dry, considering this establishment is overpriced for the quality of the food it was surprising that these guys still opened. Normally i visit the Alum rock branch which is amazing never have let me down, but i thought since ive moved around this area I will try this. Further more i paid extra for sauce and didnt even get mayo and the chilli was the extra hot which wasnt ordered. This place needs better management or something as food is terrible and looming at the other reviews so is the atmosphere.

My partner went to Pepe's with my son at around half four, they ordered some food and awaited my arrival as I was meeting them there after work, I get there, order some food which was mid at best, and after eating my food I noticed that on the receipt there was a comment at the top of the receipt that read and I quote, " free heating for them 2" which was a direct dig at my partner and my son. Upon reading the receipt I was absolutely appalled that event though I had just paid for food and even though my partner and my son hadn't even finished there food that they would be so rude as to make such a comment.so as I confronted the bloke who made the receipt, all he said was it was a joke, no apology, nothing. The server was called Sadiq I think, can't remember his last name but I remember he had hearing aids, will not be returning to this or any other branch of Pepe's again after this horrifying experience

My sons girlfriend and 5 year old grandson waited in here for twenty minutes as they was meeting him there for something to eat, after 20 minutes my son turned up and they ordered food, when they got the bill a comment had been added stating “free heating for those2” my son immediately challenged the person who gave them the bill but was met with a wall of silence, he then asked to see the manager, who looked at the bill, screwed it up and put it in the bin. Why had this comment been put on the receipt? Was it because my grandson is mixed race? Or something else, whatever the reason it is appalling behaviour and we won’t go there again..disgusting. Mike

This place could be amazing if they had the right staff. They can barely get an order correct. Out of 6 orders I’ve placed, only 2 have been correct. I’m not sure why they ask you what flavour you want your chicken to be because they must never read the order! It’s pretty much always wrong! Even when you leave a note while ordering on the app to ask them not to get your order wrong, it’s still wrong! It just ruins our meal when we get 2 hot flavoured chickens and I ordered 1 mango and lime and 1 Hot. While I can understand sometimes mistakes can happen, 4 orders wrong out of 6 orders placed is just totally unacceptable. I just refuse to order from here anymore.

Worst Pepes branch ever!! Ordered on Just eat but the food didnt arrive for nearly two hours. Had hungry kids waiting. I was on the phone trying to get through for over half hour with no one answering. Ended up driving there myself to see what was going on, due to my arrival they then made my food with no apology and even charged me for peri salt despite me saving on delivery and waiting 2 hours. To top it off the guy had my daughters fruit shoot in his mouth as his hands were full 🤮 , he did not see the issue when i raised it. Will never order from there again! Avoid at all costs!!!

Ordered through Uber Eats and the complete wrong order came. My burger XL meal with normal onion rings came as a chicken and rice box with peri peri onion rings. Rancid, dry and cold. My pepsi max came as a warm can with my meal when advertised as in a cup with ice. Not impressed. Uber eats only giving me money back in ten days and not even the full price. Not impressed. Expected my actual order to be sent out free of charge after my complaint. Will never order again.

This is the worst Pepes branch I’ve come across. This is local so I’ve given it multiple chances but at every opportunity there has been disappointment. There has been food missing, to drinks missing, to sauces missing on every order. They’ve said they’d send someone out with missing items, no one ever came then the store shuts. Speaking of the sauces, can there anyone any more stingy than these guys?! After two dils and the sauce is gone. Never extra sauces given. Go to their competitor - Rios piri piri in Hodge Hill. They have never disappointed. Food is always beautiful. Always give extra sauces and extra wings/ strips!! They care about their custom unlike these guys.

I have had takeout food from this restaurant many times. I must say over the last 6 months the food standard has gone down substantially. Chicken is over cooked / burnt and the food is always cold. I have always given them the benefit of the doubt. On this occasion I feel leaving a review is justifiable based on multiple orders for delivery, collection and eat in. Most recently I decided to dine in the restaurant to actually see if the food was fresh. This was a unpleasant experience as we ordered 4 items and all food was cold including the chicken and the bun was rock hard. We waited patiently for 25 minutes for an eat in order thinking the food would be fresh but it was the total opposite. I noticed more chit chat between the staff and less work going on. Overall the food standard has heavily dropped since this establishment first opened. I am really disappointed as I have given them multiple opportunities to rectify but it seems to get worse as time goes on and I am sure I am not the only one. I advise the owner to look into this immediately in regards to mainly the food standard and also train staff on simple customer service skills as it appears some staff look like they don’t want to be there otherwise you will be losing a lot of customers.

Restaurants cook whole meals faster than this branch of Pepe's. Maybe they should have more staff if they can't handle the demand.

Really poor customer service. An item was missing from our delivery order (which only consisted of a total of 4 items). Store agreed to send out replacement item within 15 minutes, but it actually took 30+ minutes, by which point the rest of the food was cold. I give them only 3stars because of the garlic sauce that is missing from those small containers. Someone has to sort that sauce out because it’s ridiculous. I am a big fan of the 28 wings we have them probably every weekend and the garlic sauce it’s a must. I wouldn’t have a problem if the sauce was free, but as long as they are charging me 50p for a small container of sauce and it says 40ml on it and if you measure it, it has 15ml with the plastic thing included. It’s ridiculous. Sort it out!

I ordered food which was 2 xl burger meals And a fish burger meal and it had all arrived cold let alone I paid for cheese on the burgers and non of them met the payment requirements I also spoke on the phone to the the staff I asked for manager from a girl n she came back on the phone 2 seconds later pretending to be the manager then realized I knew it was the same person on the phone and gave the phone to some one else my issue was not resolved
