Pepe's in Kingston upon Thames

Order has been sent late from the restaurant and when the delivery driver was on his way, it has been marked as delivered and I haven't received anything

Terribly slow service and dirty tables.

I ordered the paneer nachos and although the taste was good, the nachos came all soggy and clumped together and plus I paid extra to get chimichurri fries and dip and I got the wrong ones 😭😞😭, it has happened twice.

Raw chicken served yesterday and now they won’t answer the phone disgusting

I came for collection and it’s absolutely ridiculous they got our order wrong, took so much money from me and gave small chips and small burgers. Ridiculous staff, I’d give a zero if I could - avoid branch

My order sat waiting to be collected by uber for over an hour, and they still sent it out. Obviously the entire order was cold by the time it arrive. Ordered at 22:40, arrived at 0:50, stone cold.

Food came almost 2 hours late. Order was placed at 8pm and arrived at 9:50. No one picked up the phone and food arrived cold.

The service was absolutely terrible. Do NOT use the app to order in-store. I was told to use it, and my order took over an hour to be ready—even though I stood there waiting the whole time. I was repeatedly told, “It’ll be ready in 10 minutes,” which was a complete lie. Meanwhile, everyone who came in after me got their orders, ate, and left, while I was still waiting. It’s ridiculous. I regret coming here, but since I had already paid, I was stuck.

Gave watered down 7up. They added water into the 7up, you can taste it clearly. That is just scamming, the drink was already marginally higher by £2 so to do this sort of practise is just disgusting. Just make the drink sold out and don't sell it, why water it down? It doesn't help that the customer service isn't the best.

Both rice boxes were delivered open and therefore Luke warm, making them practically inedible.one of the dips also spilled into my friends food so he wasn’t able to eat because he is allergic. I’m very dissatisfied with the way the food was delivered last night and I would like to be compensated.

Food actually tastes nice but whole experience was ruined by poor service. First of all I was told a wait time of 40min before ordering but this ended up being 70min. I upgraded to large chips which were not filled properly and were cold and tough. Chicken was tender but burger under cooked in middle and nuggets was missing 1. Overall a long wait and not worth the price.

Overcharged and didn't give correct order. When I went back refused to help me.

The service has not improved at all in a year it takes about on average an 1 hour 10 mins for your food to arrive. They never answer the phone even went in there and called the phone and they were ignoring it. The person working there had nothing to say looked embarrassed but they honestly don’t care. Honestly Roosters across the road is so much better with the people working in there and fast service and the food quality is great.

garlic mayo sauce was very watery.

Food came piping hot and it was amazing the peri peri chicken was amazing as of their rice and garlic sauce

got 6 nuggets instead of 8 but had an extra free wing and overall taste and quality was good. Would order again but with a great discount like today as is too expensive. Burger was well made and chips cooked well. Chicken ok but not as tender as used to be.

Staff were extremely blunt and disrespectful when taking orders, it took very long to bring out orders despite the restaurant having very few customers. Many staff in the back standing around doing nothing. Food was good but otherwise ruined by the service, they also refused tap water. Staff were also eating food in the back instead of making the food. Tables were messy and covered in rubbish, the drink machine had way too much syrup in and was practically inedible. The oven also had stuff dripping down over the food. Overall would not reccomend this place and will not be returning any time soon. Disgusting service and I'm absolutely appalled.

Too slow service.. I went there today and they don't have Pepsi Max no ice cube no chicken leg pieces.. When they served it I ordered peri peri chips and there was no peri peri salt , tissues and fork or spoon 😔😭

I usually really love Pepes as a food place but this branch is not good at all! At first, the service stuff took a couple of minutes to take my order as they just had one person at the front dealing with walk-ins and deliveries alone. There was a water leak in the centre of the restaurant with no sign to indicate the hazard. And then I ordered chicken and rice and there was hardly any chicken, and the chicken I did get was hard and dry and there was hardly any sauce! To top it all off, I’ve woken up the next day with a bad stomach ache and have been sick from very apparent food poisoning. I really love Pepes but my experience at this Kingston chain was a disappointment and needs to be looked at

Food order took 2 hours & emailed a complaint! Again today they are late again,! Get more staff & manage your business more efficiently & treat your customers with dual respect.

Took 15-20 minutes for food to be made. Too busy dealing with delivery driver orders. The guy in charge had to tell the lady to stop making those and prioritise the customers in the shop. Finally when the food came the lady who had made it forget to add salsa to the fajita wrap and the “wrap”. At first they told us that it does not have salsa until we pointed out on the menu. My fajita wrap did not have the salsa cheese or onions and told it must have melted. I asked them how does the onion melt? He than added the salsa and gave the biggest slice of onions going. Found that some of the chicken in the wrap was just as burnt as the attitude of the lady who had made it - no apology. Terrible service do not go here!

Very rude staff, can’t get order right, food takes over 25 minutes at 4 o clock, and all the drivers for Uber eats are prioritised!!!!! Don’t go here you’re better off travelling to another branch.

If I could give 0 stars I would! Can’t get through to the store, but my food had a HUGE bone in it!!!! Complete choking hazard, my rice was still hard, my partners burger was soggy. This is completely unacceptable.

If you like piri piri, this is the place to go. I popped in for a bite on the way home. I opted for extra hot. The chicken was excellent, well cooked, and very tasty. The piri piri chips were awesome. It's definitely one of my favourites.

Food is amazing as always from Pepes. Service however is a wide mix. Sometimes you get really good service, sometimes you get bad service. My order was wrong, I asked for something else and they gave me something else when I was the only person there. However there are times when the service is spectacular, as sometimes the people are extremely nice. Just depends on the day. But food is always 10/10. Today however the guy was extremely moody, I asked for something and he didn't even ask which flavour I wanted - which is really questionable since the flavour is like 80% of the whole entire restaurant. Anyway although I didn't get what I wanted, I still got what I paid for and it was the right flavour with the right amount of chicken and garlic sauce. And I can understand his moodiness, not everyone can always be happy. I'm just bummed that I didn't get to try the Loaded Fries Box, but I guess that can always wait. :) Edit: To add on this pepes actually gives a free garlic sauce whenever you order a Chick 'N Rice box. The pepes I went to before didn't do this, so it's really cool that they do this. 3* --> 4*

The food is very good and tasty. However when my son order his meal at the shop it’s takes them 45 min for one set of order.

It was around 12:30 pm, which is after the opening time, and the door was open, all lights on, everything ready, and there was no sign of store still being closed. I went inside with my baby stroller, and when I got to the counter, the south asian man behind the counter told me, liberally, to get out of there with my stroller and said it was closed. Why was your damn door open then? Why was it already opening hours? What the hell were you doing behind the counter with your apron on if the store was closed? This man could have simply said "store is closed", but he rudely told me to get my baby stroller out of there, with rude hand gestures too. Dear random Pepe's worker, if you hate babies and clients in general, stay at home and don't work in a public sector. It wouldn't surprise me that your boss is sick of you with that attitude you have, sir.

Over priced, dry food, longest delivery time. Spent almost £40 for two meals, took 2 hours to come, food was cold, had missing items and the food was very dry. This has happened 2/3 times so not even a one off. Avoid. There are cheaper and better chicken shops. Idk how they charge so much for such rubbish.

We place the order for my daughter , She didn’t have any have anything at all.She ordered a chicken and rice meal and the spice meal mild.We waited 35minutes and she ate it when we got home. The chicken and rice was wrong it was the not mild at all it was the hottest level there.She did not enjoy it and when we tried to call them they refuse to pick up. It made her feel sick after and only ate bread and milk and a couple of lollies to try cool the spice down.After that she didn’t eat anything at all and she had felt weird after.Horrible service, ordered the food wrong and timing was something else.

I had a bad experience here bad customer service I ordered food it was so dry and staff wasn’t cooperative.

I ordered mild chicken n rice for my wife. And I was told the waiting time is 20 to 25 mins. After 45 mins when I received my order, it was so spicy. In fact my wife couldn't eat. I'm 100% sure my order was being replaced. Waste of time, waste of money. Very very disappointing. Pepe's never again.

I saw the reviews after placing the order and was awaiting a disaster, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. Ambiance was not so great or clean, but we didn't have to wait for the order much. The chicken quesadilla and chicken, and rice were very good.

Service was poor, wings were not cooked properly. The top floor seating was closed.

I was a semi regular in 2017-2018 and it was great I really feel the quality has gone down hill. They take forever to do your food, it's overpriced and even run down. also the food isn't as diverse as it used to be.

Food was cold. Paid the "go large" option and it came just as small as ever. Pitta meal is tiny, they've hone from a normal size pitta to a small round circle. Meals are £11 +, and it's not worth it.

The chicken and rice box here is immaculate and reasonably priced at just 7 pounds. However, the service is unreliable as my food sometimes takes up to 25 minutes to be served to me.

Recently delivery wait times have become ridiculously long, prices have gone up and food quality has gone down significantly. Chicken was unusually chewy and chips soggy. Is there new management or getting cheaper supplies? Have to say I wont be eating here anymore after giving them a few chances, roosters around the corner always fresh and good lunch time deals.

This place is the biggest joke ever! They are the most ignorant rude people working in there and they make you wait forever! Avoid!!!

This is my local Pepe's location so if I have a craving for it, I don't have a lot of choice but to come to this particular branch. The food is always on point, the flavours are insanely good, chicken and fries are always cooked to order and perfectly cooked etc. The variety on the menu is great and it's a nice touch that they offer their bottled Sauces and Peri Salt to buy and take home. However cleanliness and staff hygiene are both very concerning factors. I've been going to this Pepe's for at least 10 years and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned once since the first day I went there. They are in dire need of a huge deep clean of their floors, walls and furniture as well as some corners of their kitchen. The upstairs area is embarrassing, torn up, dirty furniture, balcony doors being closed shut with a poorly placed screw. If I'm perfectly honest, after recently visiting the Croydon brand and the new Morden branch, they put this place to shame. The staff are always polite and aren't rude to customers whatsoever but they are unprofessional. Kitchen staff do not wear hair nets over their beards and we have spotted stray beard hairs on our trays beside our food. We once witnessed a family get-together happening in the kitchen where a family were sat around a table with children eating food while customers food was being prepared beside them. The card machines are always down and the hot holding area is an eyesore as it's been out of use and used as a storage cupboard for boxes for years. This place will eventually ruin the Pepe's brand for a lot of it's customers. I hope they take reviews into consideration and get this place cleaned up and fully decorated and renovated for the new year.

This branch gets worse day by day. The customer service is terrible, staff always underestimate the time it’ll take to be ready. I was told that it’ll take 20 minutes to order some peri peri wings, as I was in a rush I didn’t order them and got a chicken and rice box. The lady said around 10 minutes. I later received my food 30 minutes later, this means I could have ordered my wings!!! The store needs a major refurbishment and a change of staff or quicker staff. Also they only take cash, how can a national franchise not be able to take payment via card??? 2/5 because the chicken and rice still tastes very good. But overall experience is very bad.

Always make sure the order purchased is the same due to rush there is always a chance for mixing up. It happened to me 2 times🥲 but food is next level

This restaurant has the potential to be a major franchise in this country like a Nando’s or McDonald’s. However, it is badly let down by its food and hygiene standards and professionalism of its staff. For me I do not recommend anyone to order a delivery from this particular restaurant. If you do buy food then I strongly advise you to be there in person; standing there to watch over the counter to see what they do when they cook your meal. This is why - one time I saw one of the staff open a fresh pack of pitta bread and through his own carelessness he dropped the one needed for me on the floor, he then picked it up and was heading to their microwave to heat it up, however, I was standing right there and he looked at me and realised he got caught red handed. He then got another pitta bread. The other occasion was when another worker who was far too flamboyant and showing off to me his work ethic while I was there observing, he then put his fingers in his mouth and touched the meat for my order. He carried on - I then told him, "Excuse me! - wash your hands before you touch the food!". He next came over and argued with me. Key here is for Pepe as a restaurant: Invest heavily in their kitchens. Have first class seating areas which are sparkling with good lighting, be religious in maintaining a hard routine of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the premises. If followed, I can not see why they can not compete with the best - as their peri peri has legs and they have a good variety in their menu. Furthermore. Consider adding a colour coded method of wearing protective gloves when dealing with particular food groups e.g. chicken - this is what McDonald's do. Secondly - Keep your grills and brushes regularly fresh like Nando's do. Lastly - The staff need to all work as a team in the way Subway do. 24/7 at it. Cleaning, checking, refilling and organising. Whenever I ordered food - I made sure I was served by the member of staff who always wore a hairnet covering their well kept beard too; he had glasses along with gloves. I saw him as a good and reliable employee in handling my meal. I value that. You guys have over 80 restaurants nationwide. Some of that money has to feed down to smaller branches like yours and be held to a greater standard. Potential is there - you guys can do it! Regards. Therightto WRITE.

Post 2. Updated Pepe peri peri Kingston is the best place to try yummiest chicken and Paneer Rice, burgers, chicken wings (the best ever). The taste can beat some of Nandos dishes. This branch Chef has a secret way of preparing and you will never find this quality and yummy taste anywhere. My best wishes to all. Keep up the great work. And hope the shop gets full support and becomes modern and comfortable with amazing customer expeirence. The staff is too good and customer friendly Keep visiting Kingston and do have Pepe Peri Peri Post 1. Since 2017 I have been having Pepe's Peri Peri daily. Pepe's Peri Peri Kingston branch and the chef and Staff is amazing. This is my daily meal. Pepe Peri Peri Paneer and Peri Peri Chicken. Thanks to chef for making the best Peri Peri Chicken. Hope they get Loyalty card soon. And i would be more than happy to collectively decorate the shop and make it nice place to eat in. And provide safety to them. And add tech - contactless . I recommend this place to all. (Chef) is the best. His secret way of making Peri Peri Chicken.

Inflation is 9% however they increased their prices by 25%. Not buying from here again as they seem just waiting for a reason to rise their prices.

Pepes chicken is a very good food chain but this particular shop in Kingston is blackspot. Its staff are very rude and do not keep anything clean, the tables & floor in customer area is always dirty let alone the cooking area is such a mess, the hygiene level in this shop is barely to minimum. The portion of meal is always so small as compare to other pepes because the staff seldom think about customer service, these guys lack the basic courtesy and respect for customer, their communication is devoid of words like Please, Thank you or Sorry. At 6pm they install a metal chain on the stair and the customers are unable to use toilet because they do not allow to go upstairs although they serve food till 12am. It is also against the law to forbade the customers to use the toilet just for the fact that staff is lazy to clean the toilet after 6pm. They never provide a good portion of chicken as compare to other Pepes branches, I think the management of Pepes chain should take these complaints seriously because this particular branch is bringing defamation to Pepes name as a whole. In the last two weeks they have further increased the prices of each meal by 1.50 Pounds which is really a shame because it is a 3rd increase of prices in just 2 months, although 1.50 pounds per meal is really a ridiculous increase. It become unaffordable even to visit once a week for Pepes food.

Awful customer service skills. You should smile and greet me and be happy customers like my self are coming in to spend there hard earned money in your shop. Do not say “whaaadyuuwaantttt”. Guy with glasses is very rude. Secondly customers should not have to wait more than 10 minutes for their order. Don’t try and call this takeaway, they never answer the phone. Overall poor service. Need a completely new management team. Customer is never right with these guys.

Love the chicken and rice however other options on the menu like burgers are very dry and underwhelming. Biggest issue is TIME THEY TAKE SO LONG TO PREPARE A SMALL BOX OF CHICKEN AND RICE. I wanted to order three boxes for Iftar so my family can break our fast however it was a bad idea as they took more than 35 minutes and we couldn't eat on time. The cleanliness of the place is very poor with a lack of furniture and tables are always dirty.

Went here for dinner, had a take away. Asked for 2 XL burgers, however got grilled strips in the bun when we got home. Very disappointed., as no matter what you order from here, something always is missing or wrong item added.

Iv been to this place twice now and on both occasions they have a network issue with their card machine. Absolutely awful service and can't understand why they have had a network issue for the past 6 months!

I asked them to make my order specific, lemon herb and hot and extra juicy. They only put lemon as a flavor the chicken was very plain and there were barely any wings included. I tried calling them, but they never picked up. If they did I wouldn’t write such a bad review!!

Managed by Tamil team. Chicken and rice would be something anyone should try for sure. Spicy level extra hot for nominal people who like spicy food.. extreme hot spicy would be a challenge🥵 Price is 5.5£ which is worth the taste and quantity. Same food costs more in other competitive shops. If you want to fill up the stomach with rice, jus go for it ✌️

Always love my pepes...however this kingston branch is disappointing. Waited 20mins for my meal and ended up with raw chicken, badly undercooked. Chips look like they had been there since the weekend! I dont like to leave bad reviews but i called literally 10mins after i collected and they dont answer the phone. Called 5times and gave up in the end....kinda like the dude who under cooked my whole chicken. see pictures below. your reply suggests im not showing you rest of the chicken ! nice to know you have done cooking training and sent me a whole essay on it despite me showing you raw chicken....maybe some customer service training would have been a better idea. if those chips look fresh then u seriously need glasses! I live lit 5mins away they didnt get soggy they were rock hard 😂
