Penn Chippy in Wolverhampton

Order a fish and I have never seen such a small fish in my life, I thought it was a battered sausage (and way to greasy) absolute rip off!!! Avoid

OMG! Best chippy in Wolves! Went for a big lunch; doner kebab and cod were delicious chips were piping hot. Service was excellent as always. Boss and staff are super friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend 👍

Place used to be a lot better when Indy ghadham owned it.The quality of the food has gone down since the new owners took over.

Brought chips from here yesterday night absolutely vile, hard, cold not even eatable as the potatoes weren’t cooked throughly. Not happy with the service provided here.

Nasty service no chips with burger meal but mini fish n chips was right. Phoned to tell chippy they would not replace as gas and overheads too expensive. Got chips from Wombour e chippy. Fancy not get food you have paid for and been told their gas prices have gone up. Avoid this place the Indian man was very rude!! A V O I D THIS PLACE !!!!

Not great always used this chippy last two visits have not been great smaller portions!!! Price increased and items missed off order when we phone and asked we were told he has high bills not much profit. Better to always check orders before you leave the shop or use chip stop up the road very hot fresh full portions no price rise

Mini fish and chips special with curry sauce and saveloy on side tonight, fish is chunky as it should be, the chicken kebabs are always great when I have them! and the chips are always bang on, still keeping the same standard as his cousin. Good work bro.👌💥

Fish and chips were awful. Soggy and mushy chips and the batter on the fish was spongy and wet. Will never go there again.

Always had our chips from here (not often we have them) but not been since new owners. Ordered a kebab. I didn't eat it. I paid using my card and then noticed the same guy who had just touched the till and the card reader, was also handling my kebab/salad without gloves. I should have said something but I didn't want conflict. Sorry but hygiene is a must always. Waste of a fiver :(

Had chips twice from this place since new ownership. Riddled with soil, not sure whats happened. Very tasty chips with crunch of soil ruined them.

Great chippy, started going just before it got took over but still in great hands. Chips are lovely, we usually go for burgers/sf chicken/sausage/sauce. All so lovely, in fact it’s a weekly visit now :)

New owner I hear about 3 months ago. Their fish is absolutely amazing great chips portion and kebab meat is lovely and fresh again great portion size always freshly cooked and the staff there are very polite. Will continue to use this shop as I have done for many years highly recommended five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Went in as noticed on reviews they did Gluten free fish & chips. Asked the staff member about it to which he laughed at me and said it shouldn't say that on the internet as they have never done them. Fair enough you don't do them but no need to be rude...

Had chicken curry and chips 5 pound this wouldnt feed my 2 years old so small and nan bread was so hard in the middle this chippy is not what it used to be never again was also charged 50 pence service charge is that not what we already paid for to be served

Great chippy. Managed to get my large order ready quickly. Food was tasty and portion sizes are good. Staff are friendly and always accommodating.

You get what you pay for, good honest grub .the staff are very polite and helpful .would recommend their fish “cod”

This place looked really good from outside. I asked for a scallop while I waited for my meal. The scallop was nice. I asked for some hot chilli and mayonnaise on my mixed meat and chips. I was charged an extra 40 pence for the chilli sauce and I thought that was expensive. Either way I paid and when I got to work to eat my meal they hadn't put the chilli sauce on the food. This was a very greasy and not so nice meal. I wouldn't use this place again. There is nothing I can say that was nice about this meal. The people with me thought the same about their meals.

Some drunken bum pinched my steak and kidney pie 🥧 but I didn't mind ,it was soon replaced 😅

Rude staff!! Whatever you do, don't order online.. if they don't have what you have paid for you get nothing! Just a refund.. family left without a meal! Simply not bothered upon questioning what went wrong! Unfortunately I had to leave one star

Today had chips , but chips was dry and its like premade chips been refried. I had jaw lock problem, it was hard to eat.

The best chippy in Wolverhampton without a doubt. Fish is absolutely awesome, not overly battered and very fresh and tasty. Lamb Doner kebabs are excellent too. Great portions, good prices and always cheerful and friendly staff!

Donner meat pure no additives the best

I went in to check if chips were cooked in oil separately from fish and meat. Surprised and excited to see a section called ‘vegan corner’ on the menu. Sadly I learned the chips and ‘vegan’ options fried in the oil contaminated with animal parts. Huge disappointment!

Love this place and the owner is a superstar

I order from these guys for a few months now I never have many problems with the food at times the food can arrive cold by the time it reaches us but I believe this is not the restaurants fault I strongly believe the restaurant check the order before sending out. In the past my hubby has been in for a quick meal and the food was hot when he left the shop. The reason I give to stars is because the young lady who delivers our food had no mask on she was rude she did not even say a hello or a simple thank you there was no social distancing she may has well as been in my house with how close she wanted to be.drivers represents businesses during this pandemic. In addition me and my neigbours dont need to hear your music or see your friends in your car staring at us I dont believe for a second that all the people in the car are all employees of penn chippy I dont feel comfortable having a car full of strangers delivering to my address I would like to add that this strongly is not penn chippy fault or who own penn chippy as far as I am aware it is run by a family but your staff seem to be letting you down in future I shall come in wait for the food it would feel much better then feeling intimidated by a gang full of people 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Amazing food service is excellent and the cod is amazing

The chips are really nice and the fish is reallly yummy! The staff are always friendly and social distancing guidelines are met inside the shop. Of course, the hygiene is also excellent as you can tell from the 5 for hygiene from the FSA.

This has got to be the best fish and chip shop ever top quality food and top quality staff also the batter dosent get stuck to the paper by the time you come to eat it.

Good fish, chips are fresh and fluffy (how I would've described it, and the donor was delicious. To top it all off, my delivery was meant to come in 45 mins, but came in just 20.

Just want to say the food here is amazing, the portions are large, the chips are light, the kebab is delicious and their fish is top notch. I've ordered from here before and I'll keep on doing so. Absolutely delicious food!

When we first ordered from here the food was amazing that was last week...ordered again tonight and it was really greasy also driver ended up bringing the wrong food so she went back to her car which is the first entrance in warstones gardens and I'm in the 2nd entrance so the food was all over the place wen opened it didn't enjoy it 1 bit 😥

Ordered through just eat. When my order arrived i was missing some of my order. I rang them and was told I would receive it when they deliver around my street. I waited 1 hour an 45 minutes and called them again as I still hadn't recieved my food. They didn't answer! I'm absolutely disgusted with the extremely poor service provided. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anybody. In response to the owners response........ I do not have a bell on my back gate so your drivers must have tried delivering the rest of my order to the wrong address. Why didn't they come to the front door like they did when they first delivered my part order? Sounds to me like your trying to make an excuse!

Usually not bad but lately the chips are bits with no potato, the mini fish is dry and tasteless, the roe has shrunk in size and is burnt and greasy. So I'm not impressed at all this is also not a one off but has been for the last 3 weeks

Have used this place quite a few times.Cooked in dripping delicious. Best eaten when cooked to order whilst the batter is nice and crisp.I usually eat them in the car paked outside. outside.

I was visiting Wolverhampton for a day and had heard about how all chippys do battered chips and that they’re a Wolverhampton speciality! As it was a Sunday, this was one of the only chippys which was open and I walked in to order some battered chips before I drove back to London. To my surprise they didn’t do battered chips and was one of the places where people come for normal chippy chips! However, the people inside were honestly the nicest I’d ever met and they battered chips especially for me so I could experience them! They were sooo good, I’d definitely recommend putting them on your menu! And I will also definitely be coming again. Thank you so much for making my day!!!

Really great experience here. Just moved to the local area and wanted fish and chips for 12 people on our first night. Ordered a huge amount of food which I thought may have been a issue. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Brilliant food!! Great service! Will definitely be back soon.

Used to be the best chippy in Wolverhampton. Portions are pathetic since they won an award. Chips literally counted on to the tray and always undercooked. Hope they get back to what they were a couple years ago (My response to the owner) thanks for your reply. I realise you don't give away free food, quite the opposite as I've had an instance where I ordered 5 kebabs and only received 4, where the salad to meat ratio was quite high (guess salad is free). Also I wasn't refering to a cone a chips. I was referring to the metal tray you use to count your large bag of chips for.

1 Star as it was impossible to leave a review with 0. Pie was cold, chip portions were minuscule. The meat was that bad i wouldn't even feed it to my cat. Will be avoiding in the future.

Amazing fish and chips, we love this place and always pop in when we are in the area.

Lovely people, however portion sizes are disappointing. A large bag of chips is very small compared to average, in the past they have been standard.

Don't go in there close to being closed or first thing the next day pots of chicken meat and donor meat being refrigerated very disappointed seeing this always willing to give a place a chance but will defo revert back to old place

Awful service. Ordered over the phone and told them I would collect. My partner went to collect and they just told him to leave without even giving him a change to speak. They decided to close early instead of serve our food we ordered 20 minuets prior. The woman was rude on the phone to me also. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I have given it 3 Stars but I can only really give that on Customer Service because having seen the Award Sign by the Express & Star above their Sign I thought I would try the Place!, I asked a Lady who at first seemed a Little Unfriendly but then managed to find a Smile from somewhere if they did Battered Chips and she told Me No & that they only Fry Unbattered so I decided to Pass!.
