Absolutely delicious the new owners were lovely too. Chips, fish, pie and gravy were all gorgeous would definitely recommend

We ordered some chips for a quick dinner recently for the first time since the new owners took over and they were LOVELY! Friendly staff, fast service & fluffy crispy tasty chips! Have also heard very good things about the Indian side of the take away so will be trying this soon!

Children's meals are good value for money, especially the fish fingers which were made especially, proper fish as well, big and x4. Cheesy chips had lots of cheese. Staff were friendly and polite.

Chips were nasty and old re fried fish cakes looked like they have been there a month and tasted off.

My daughter visited on the way home from school to buy a 50p cone of chips. Didn't have cash, so paid with card and was told she'd have to pay an extra 50p fee as it was less than £5. I visited later to take this up with the owner as it's illegal, against their agreement with their payment provider, and against Visa's Operating Regulations. I was met with a rude, aggressive owner, who when it was pointed out to him that what he was doing was illegal and he was ripping off children who didn't know better, defended his illegal practice by saying he's charged 28p per transaction. Begs the question why, if he was to pass on the charge, he would almost double it first. He then suggested I "be a big man" instead of standing the other side of the counter. Comical.

Best Fish and Chips takeaway I've been. I seek out good traditional fried fish shops in South West England. This the best. I travel 20 miles. and smile. The portions are huge.

Always go to Millbrook but haven't been overly impress recently so decided on a change and have to say we were very impressed. The best fish and chips for a long time, Almost as good as Falmouth in Cornwall!!

I visited at lunchtime a couple of weeks ago. The service was fast and friendly and the menu extensive and reasonably priced. The chips were good, however my scampi was a real let down. It was extremely dry, rubbery and tasteless.

Went there Wed 4/3/20 at 5:00ish ordered chips battered sausage & a plain sausage, got home(5min walk) opened the paper and tucked in. The chips were tasted dry and not fresh at all can only guess they were from dinner time and had been left in the compartment to keep warm, had a bite of the plain sausage, spat that out taste was old dry and tainted. To be honest if it hadn’t been for the rain I would have taken them back. £4.60ish wasted. Will never use this chippy again.

Best takeaway fish and chips in town, always consistently good, generous portion sizes, also pies pasties sausages etc. Always busy, so that’s a clue to the quality.

Our regular stop. Fish always good, chips - depends on the potatoes (always , wherever you get them). Value is good/average for the area. People always friendly.

Had F&C for the first time from here (don't know why it was the first time) and it was disappointing to say the least. Expensive, small portions, fish with skin on, dry chips. Just disappointing by comparison to others. If you were in town feeling hungry after several drinks I can think why you'd go in (judging by the rubbish in the street people must do - and not just here). But given any choice I'd go elsewhere. Sorry.

Called in as part of my delivery round at just before noon on Tuesday. The chips tasted, and looked, like the previous evenings leftovers reheated. Not too impressed overall. Went to Smarts in Grove the next day, so I won't be back to the Penguin.

First time visit to this chip shop. Lady serving was incredibly welcoming and really lovely. I ordered three kids meals and 2 adult meals all consisting of fish. Unfortunately the Chips weren't very nice and the batter on the fish was soggy and undercooked. Very disappointing as we all went hungry that day; thankfully it was only a lunch so we did get to eat later.

We are regulars here, chips are always hot and crispy and the staff are very friendly. A good selection of fish and pies/ sausages etc available and if you want you can have a full english breakfast
